Do you live inside ant holes or do you not have an idea that there are instant yam flours that can be prepared the same way you prepare Amala and other swallow foods instead of pounding -Product of Applied Science and Technology? Anyway, I wasn't referring to post colonial Nigeria. Though it was not explicitly stated, but it appeared that women pounded the yams (or pushed the tasks to their sons/daughters) all the time in Achebe's Things Fall Apart and Arrow of God.

Ultimately, I think who should pound has been reduced to a power of strength but we forget that pounding yams demands techniques as well. I wouldn't know who does more of the pounding except I collect data because we hardly eat pounded yams in my house. But for now, answers are bound to be individual, e. g., "in my house, men/women do the pounding..."

Well, we live in critical times now where people are largely misinformed about most stuff and have a warped imagery of the realities of where we are coming from and why things were how they were at the time. It's only saddening that some people are chronically "colo-mentalized" by everything White that they see anything and everything African as dark, demonic and subpar, hence the urge to tell that story with that theme and setting that hopes to derail if not erase the maladjusted mindset that Real African men (their tradition) have no business with romance; are brutish with large dongs which when applied can make any woman submit to their slfish whims; are insensitive to their women blah blah...You see it was not just about pounded yam? Nope, women don't ALWAYS do the pounding in those days. Sometimes, the women do the cooking while the men go on with pounding. When I was still very young, I usually go visiting my grandpa on his farm during holidays and I will open a window to what it was like then. It was a large farm situated in the outskirts of the main town where the real houses were. Different families have their farmlands apportioned out and the number of workers working could be as many as possible depending on the financial capacity of the farmer to hire labourers or his readiness to cooperate with other farmers so they can help each other out on the farm, Ours was the former system but my grandparents were not the type that will sit back and watch while the labourers do their job, so we usually joined in on the farm work, set traps for bush meat and in the evenings, bring back yam and the bush meat to the farmstead. We the boys would roast the meat, the men do the pounding while the clearly fagged out women do the cooking. On other days that the women don't go with us to work the farm though, they're expected to have prepared the sumptuous pounded yam and egusi soup to match before we arrive at the stead. Division of Labor was the order of the day then, not slavery or any synonym of it in any form.

Some people must be living in caves not to have understood why this clamour for a +/- 1hour adjustment in the exam time is imminent, Christian or Pagan. If one wants to work with someone on their level to reach a common goal , good for them . If one wants to go for the rich guy , good for them.

OK, let's cut the bullshiit and all and be realistic for once! I think you should stop looking at people as groceries you go to the market to choose from. Real life situations are not like that. The world we live in is casted, not in the ideal sense of it, but it's always there. Only in rare cases will you encounter people belonging to the middle working class getting hooked with those at the top of the ladder, it is almost fairy, it's like looking for an albino whale. You are what you attract, if you belong to the lower class and you haven't worked your ass up to another level, don't you expect those above you to look down at you with the dotty eyes. Lol, let me explain something to you. I'm a very complex person emotionally. It's either I'm all in or all out. When I do get attached on the rare occasions that I have been, it's not healthy attachment. I become needy & demanding, it's not fun Hence I prefer to stay as far away from emotional attachments as I possibly can. Because if I don't care about you, I won't be going through the emotional ups & downs because of you. Sick or not, that's who I am & the only way I know how to be. It's not done maliciously on my part, I don't use people, I just don't feel like I can't do without so & so. That's not me. I can write anyone off in a second, regardless of how long I've known them or how close we were. I think losing both parents at a very young age kinda made me fear getting too emotionally attached to people. Subconsciously it's there, reason I can do a 180 without feeling as much as a heartburn about it.

I'm not talking about when I'm in a relationship Even relationships, I can take them or leave them. Nobody burns bridges like I do You have to understand that people operate on different levels. I have extreme loner tendencies. I honestly feel like I do not need people to feel "alive". Usually I lock myself away without talking to anyone other than my immediate family, for months at a time. When I'm single, I can also go years without sex. That's me. I don't need it. It's not nourishment. In fact, I feel more balanced & connected to myself when I isolate myself. But with prolonged isolation comes loneliness, which is what drives me to forge relationships. It's nothing physical, I just miss people sometimes.

Something is wrong somewhere. I can sense it but I can't place it just yet... I mean, we all need to go back and recharge once in a while, but that doesn't mean switching off on people like they don't matter only to miss people and then switch on on them like they are play things... What is wrong with you? Have you lost touch with your hormones ? Or Have you just not met the man that's worth your devotion? Help me understand this

Let me help you out. Rich people, 99.9% of the time reach for females within their caste. We, the poor guys don't have problems with that. But when the gluttons among them come for those few beauties within our caste, what do you expect us to do? Continue to smile while suffering?
Thus, the need for these drastic measures to sort of create "fear of the unknown" in our poor female population becomes imperative ... Ain't we just geniuses?
