@Abali
You have to settle down,SCD is just one of the challenges of life.

Like I said,it can be avoided.
We need to create more awareness.

Once you see someone you want to settle down with, the next thing should be ur genotype that way you are securing your children's future and avoiding future heartbreaks
Family / Re: Marriage And The Sickle Cell Anaemia by opeoluwa2(f): 4:55pm On Mar 07, 2013
Well for me,I'm lucky not to be an SS because my parents never had the genotype test before marriage.Fortunately for me I am AA.

Being SS is not a crime but our society look down on them as weak and unhealthy. They are always fragile with yellowish eyeball and staunted growth.

A lot of awareness still has to be done, just last week a family friend complained on how he ignorantly married his sweetheart who is AS and he too happens to be AS.The lady got pregnant before marriage and there was no time for bloodtest. After delivery they started noticing some abnormalities in the baby's health.
The doctor told them to do a blood test and both of them were AS.we are yet to ascertain the baby's genotype but both parent were praying the baby shouldn't be SS.

I was angry when I found out,but I don't blame them because samething happened to me.I never asked my husband about his genotype until we were way too deep into the relationship, lucky for us we are AA.

So many people are into relationship that is way too deep even after they comfirm their genotype, they always try to attack it with faith.believing their children will be free from SCD not minding their own status.

No child deserves to suffer,
SCD challenges can be avoided.

Islam for Muslims / Re: Hijab Dispute: COHI Warns LASG by opeoluwa2(f): 5:59pm On Mar 06, 2013
There is one thing I trust fashola on,
He knowns when to differentiate religion from politics he does not reason like his other muslim governors.
So I believe him to do justices to this issue.
The Muslim society are asking for too much and if the state government agrees to this Hijab wearing to every public school,we will be faced with bigger demands in future.
They are claiming the hijab is a right,we all know that there are many kinds of hijab.
Which particular one will they wear??
They are asking for permission to cover their hair to school, verysoon they will cover their face and finally they will decide to wear a different uniform to school. Thereby leading to more rights and more infringement.
Lagos state government should take a lasting decision on this matter, they either scrap the school Uniform for mufti or strictly adhere to it irrespective of religion.

Politics / Re: APC Logo And Flag by opeoluwa2(f): 10:08am On Mar 05, 2013
talktimi: how can we have "nationalistic, selfless leaders" when Ibo people & other minority tribes are continually looked down upon even from within the APC who proclaim to be the political messiahs of this great country ? Its realy pathethic when so called "progressives" descend so low as to call people "omo Igbo" in such a derogatory way as if it is a sin or a crime to come from the eastern region, you also hear such silly phrases like "go back to your village/state" when the constitution guarantees a Nigerian the right to reside in any part of the country he/she chooses. Very sad. There's a lot of s#it going on in this country's political scene and it cuts across all parties. We all must change our mind set, not just the leaders but especially the followers because we are the ones that are used in perpetrating violence whenever it happens while our leaders children & wives will be safely tucked abroad when the wahala starts.

My dear, don't get decieved by the comment you read on Nairaland.
Fine Nigeria is Yet to get it right as a Nation. But most of the things written online are just personal vendatta always meant to rubbish one tribe or the other.
The masses keeps suffering while the elite keeps moving forward.

On my day to day living in lagos,I found out that igbos don't hate yoruba neither do yoruba hate Hausa.

Any policy taking in lagos state, bigots will paint an anti_tribal war out of it.
When Fashola closed Oshodi(populated with yorubas) market bigots called him anti-masses,he closed Ketu(populated with hausas and yoruba) they called him anti-poor ,even okada riders policy was faulted as anti masses.but when he closed Ladipo(igbo populated) they said fashola was anti-igbos.

Nairaland bigots are always quick to paint wrong pictures.

If this logo is not good enough people can complain but making tribal statement out of it, is unacceptable.

Moreover,Mr Seun Osewa should start monitoring the kind of comments that appears on threads.Nairaland is bigger bigger than it use to be.
There should be a new way of registering,so people can be held accountable for their utterances.

I always find it repulsive when I read some nasty statement online especially statement that talks down on other people ,tribe or religion.

This forum has an Heterogeneous audience, from different part of the world, and comments like this sends wrong signals to outside world.

I never knew nigeria was divided until I joined Nairaland, because my best friends, colleagues ,mentors are from different part of Nigeria especially igbos. They are good as well as Hausas.

Please watch what you post, Bill Gates may be reading online or an innocent child may get misinformed.
