ayobj: I wish to share my own interview experience for the benefit of all.
I got an appointment through a tout at walter carrington for the 26th of september,2012.
We left home at 5am for a 9:30am appointment.
We got to the embassy before 8am.
Me and my wife were the applicants.

Outside the embassy were various sorts of people;hangers on,hustlers,drivers,applicants,visa agents.
One visa agent said he could arrange a USA visa for someone ,non appearance fee-1 million naira.
We were finally called in some minutes to 10am.
Line was long and ardous.I had not eaten.
Bought an apple and grabbed a bite.
Finally,we made it inside the consulate.
Submitted our passport and our receipts at window 11.
Later,we were thumprinted.
Window 1 was vicious,denied a lot of people.
Window 2 was great,noticed he gave some well dressed women with no travel experience except dubai.
Finally,we got to seen the visa officer at window 7
I have been to the US one(short stay B1/B2 visa) and the UK 3ce.My wife had been to the UK only once.

VO:facing my wife,have you ever been to the US.
Mama:No!
VO: you were at the conference last year,is it the same conference.
Me:yes!
Wanted to give him a letter of invitation.he said no!
V0:how many days did you stay?
Me: 12 days.
VO:maam,are you also a specialist medical doctor
Maam: NO.
VO: where do you work and what do you do?
Maam: admin officer,bla bla bla.
@..............teaching hospital
VO: do you have any kids?
Me:3.
VOtears the green ticket)
Pick up your visa in lekki next week.
No document was seen or requested for!!!
We had a nylon bag full of documents-academic,marraige,birth certificates,landed property,statement of account printed 3 weeks earlier.

So that's the story.Hope someone picked something useful.

Though I was advised by some friends and travel consultant to claim as married in my application that i'm 90%likely to be refused as i nid to prove a family tie but i disagree that if claiming what is not wil earn me the visa and in future would av negative effect i prefered to be refused. Though I didnt select 'single' unda d marital status but i rather chose 'others' and i explained under it as'engaged to miss.Bleep yyy ' she is my fiancee and i guess that wuld give a light tie to nigeria in as much as my fiancee is still in Nigeria. ..Now i want to ask this question. though we aint planning wedding yet cos she is still in 300level at the university, i'm thinkin of re-applying and appearing at the embassy with her by November toward Xmas holiday in u.s.a. I'm thinking of still claim that 'engaged to her' and under her form she'l claim 'engaged to me' . She is a 300l student of one of the universities and i think the letters frm her schl indicating her studentship wil help cos def' she's in 300L, and tied back to schl and once that is established, then i assume they wud also think am tied to home to her while we claim to get wedded nxt year end wen she complete her studies. Hope you'll bw able to defend whatever document you're presenting, you'd be surprised to have the VO asked you about your job and what benefit your trip would bring to your company.
why can't you sponsor yourself instead of your company and how much you have in your account and your monthly income.

To be honest with you, it won't be easy since you are still single and don't have a very good job.
Nevertheless, with good packaging, you'd get the Visa but misrepresentation has it's own consequencies if caught.

Vicjustice: You had the chance when you applied for the visa, I mean, you could have asked them when you were being handed the refusal letter. Now, you can't have that opportunity except when you apply for the visa again. But like I explained, you know the answer yourself

Vicjustice: Unless you specifically ask them, Visa Officers are not obliged to tell you whether you are banned or not: If your visa application was refused, and the reason (or part of the reasons) is on the basis of deceitful attempt etc, then, you are under a ban 100%.
Don't be deceived by the "rights of appeal" you would still be given that right due to the category of visa that you applied for: but nothing can over-turn a ban unless the embassy was wrong in misjudging your documents to be fake etc.Well, should know by yourself whether you were caught with deceit
