It's too late for him. If he were in Basic 1 or 2, perhaps there would be some hope of turning things around, but if at basic 5 things are this bad, there's very little anyone can do for him.

As an educationist, we don't write off any student. He can still pick up with extra hands and determination of the student.He can repeat the class. Anything is possible sir.

It's appalling how bad standards are in public schools which is why parents will cough out exorbitant amounts of money to have their kids educated in private schools and even go the extra mile of paying for home tutoring after school hours.

I'm not a forecaster of doom, but I'd say that the writer of that letter doesn't have a future in academia and the sooner he embraces his destiny as an okada rider, danfo driver or Baba Élèrán, the better for him.

You shouldnt talk like that. If the kid see someone to motivate and teach him, he can be better in life. Don't be susprise that the poorest students in class could be the best achievers in life.

Some teachers of nowadays disgrace the teaching profession. The brutality they unleash on some of their stewards in the name of discipline is criminal period. Was this mother's child the victim of one such beast posing as teacher? Maybe...... and I want to believe so for this mother to come with thugs since she know it is a thug she has to comfront...... fight fire with fire..... fight thugs with thugs.

Not everyone is called to be a teacher. Lack of job makes most people to teach. God help us.

Corporal punishment should be banned in all schools in Nigeria.A child psychologist should be placed in all primary and secondary schools.
Some teachers in Nigeria deserve serious flogging for beating students to the point of having a big scar.Children are not animals and we are not on slave plantation.
Teachers must treat their students with respect and vice versa.

Parents now adays give teachers tough time in discharging their duties as characters shapers. They make teachers feel like they are no body not knowing that teachers are needed for your child to succeed directly or indirectly. I could remember a parent that came to the school I teach to shout on class teacher because she told the daughter to remove the attachment on her hair when coming to sch the next day. Despite the fact that they know that attachment is not allowed,the woman came to blast the teacher.
