Unknown gunmen in Nigerian Army Camouflage reportedly kidnapped a 13-year-old boy in Obada-Odo Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State. The gunmen reportedly invaded Destiny Estate Community Association in Obada-Oko on Saturday around 9:15 pm, started shooting in the air, and whisked away the boy identified as Gbolahan Ajibola. They have however reached out to the family and demanded a sum of N50 million before the boy would be released from their captivity. Narrating the incident, the grandmother of the victim, Victoria Felix, told our correspondent that six gunmen invaded her house on Saturday night. Felix, who is a trader in Adigbe, said the gunmen invaded their house as she and her daughter who is the mother of the victim were entering the house. She said “Last night, (Saturday) as we got to the entrance of the house, the boy opened the gate for us. Suddenly, he screamed. We thought he was bitten by a Scorpion, but, as I was about to get down from the car to know what happened, I saw four gunmen already stood beside my car while two were at the gate and prevented the boy from closing the gate. “I asked them what did we do? We gave them our two bags. They collected the bags and also the phones of Gbolahan and his mother. “As they were taking him away I held one of them by his cloth and insisted they should take me instead of him, they dragged us to the ground and started shooting.” The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, could not be reached. https://punchng.com/gunmen-kidnap-13-year-old-boy-demand-n50m-in-ogun/ |

https://i1.wp.com/www.pmnewsnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/IMG-20210408-WA0037.jpg?w=1080&ssl=1 The Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun, has urged Nigerians, particularly residents of the state, not to be discouraged by the prevailing security, economic and social challenges confronting the nation, but be steadfast in their prayers for the country. The governor equally urged the people to be cautious and avoid using inflammatory words capable of causing disunity in our country. Abiodun gave the admonition, on Thursday, at the 13th Annual Synod of the Methodist Church, Nigeria, Diocese of Remo Central, held at the Methodist Church, Oke-Oja, Isara-Remo, Remo North Local Government Area of the state. According to him, conflicts are inevitable in any human society, but Nigerians as a people must always strive look for amicable ways to resolve such conflicts whenever they arise. He acknowledged that though there is fear in the land as a result of insecurity and which has negatively affected the country, Nigerians must continue praying for the nation and the leaders, saying “prayers can never be enough”. Abiodun who noted the interplay between the theme of the Synod, ‘Watch and Pray’, said the theme sufficed as prayer was capable of upturning unpleasant situations to pleasant ones. While lauding adherents of different religions for maintaining peaceful co-existence in the state, the governor disclosed that his administration had received inspirations from religious leaders, calling for more support and prayers. Listing some of his administration’s achievements in the last 18 months, Abiodun said massive road construction, provision of affordable housing, renovation of Primary Health Centres and primary schools had been carried out across the state. He further stated that security apparatus in the state had been reinvigorated with the provision of patrol vehicles and communication gadgets, stressing that his administration would continue to combat crimes to guarantee a peaceful state. In his remark, the Diocesan Bishop of Remo Central, Rt. Rev. Olu Akinola, urged the governor to always be attentive and spend quality time with God. The cleric further commended the governor for his achievements in the areas of roads, housing, security and employment, noting “these have helped in improving the wellbeing of the people”. https://www.pmnewsnigeria.com/2021/04/08/insurgency-governor-abiodun-urges-nigerians-to-pray/ |

https://theguildng.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/kola.jpg As plots toward 2023 presidential election thicken, the campaign poster of Kola Abiola, the first son of Nigeria’s former president, Moshood Abiola (MKO), has surfaced online, bringing back memories of his late father’s slogan, Hope 2023. As gathered, his candidacy was said to have been part of political permutations that would produce an acceptable candidate across the country from Nigeria’s South West region. It was learnt that part of what informed the decision for Kola to throw his hat in the ring was that he could ride on his late father’s support and achievement in the North and the senior Abiola’s acceptability during his Hope 93 election. Our correspondent gathered that some All Progressive Congress (APC) bigwigs have been giving Kola the needed support peradventure the candidacy of the party’s National Leader and former Governor of Lagos, Bola Tinubu, did not fly. The argument among the party leaders was that based on the APC unwritten agreement that power would return to the South in 2023, it was important that the South West region have an alternative plan, particularly distinct candidates that would appeal to all Nigerians irrespective of religion, ethnic or political divides. When The Guild reached out to the family after the posters surfaces online, their position was that if their sibling chose to run for the seat, they would rally support for him. One of his brother who spoke to The Guild under anonymity condition disclosed that though his brother was yet to personally discuss his ambition with him, people have been calling him over the poster. He indicated that if his brother decided to run for the oval office, the entire family have no choice but to provide every form of support for him to win the election. “People have been calling me on the poster and I must tell you it is a welcome development. Though he has not talked to me personally about his ambition, we will Insha Allah (God willing) support him for the position,” Kola’s younger brother said. It would be recalled that the senior Abiola won the 1993 presidential election which was annulled by the military government of Ibrahim Babaginda. However, in 2018, President Muhammadu Buhari declared June 12 as Democracy Day in honour of Abiola, whom he gave a posthumous national honour. https://theguildng.com/breaking-kola-abiola-2023-presidential-campaign-poster-gets-to-public/ |

This is nonsense. I thought they've banned gold mining in Osun. If so, that means the Chinese were on illegal mining business and the people of Ifewara were looking? Smh. When will people see that the present banditry crisis started from the illegal mining activities in Zamfara? |
https://penpushing.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/Dapo-abiodun-with-amosun.png The Ogun State Government has raised alarm over discovery of N50 billion domestic debt left behind by the immediate past Governor of the state, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, the debt said not to be accounted for in the financial report handed over to incumbent administration. Penpushing reports that, Governor Dapo Abiodun made the knocking discovery known adding that, the financial liability was not accounted for in the financial report handed over to him in May 2019. The Governor was reacting to the report by the Debt Management Office (DMO) which claimed that the Ogun state government incurred N58 billion domestic debt within the period of his administration. Penpushing further reports that, the Debt Management Office (DMO) in its report published March 15, showed that from June 30, 2019, to December 30, 2020, the Ogun State Government had incurred a total of N58,316,493,347 local debts. The Governor, however, kicked against the report of the Debt Management Office (DMO), that N58 billion by former Governor Amosun administration in the state on the domestic debt had an impact. Penpushing also reports that, Abiodun in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Kunle Somorin, said the state got this hidden debt during its investigation, stressing that the discovery followed due diligence on the finances of the state. “We only got to know about this amount in the course of our carrying out due diligence on Ogun State finances shortly after we took over. As a transparent government committed to being accountable, we had to disclose this for the first time to give a true picture of the state’s indebtedness. “Governor Dapo Abiodun has started paying the retirees and pensioners affected, with the first tranche of N500m paid to them last month. Every quarter, the governor has promised to pay them at least N500m until everyone is paid. “The increase in the 2020 total debt of the state was due to an undisclosed gratuity and staff liabilities of about N50bn not recognised in the state financial statements in May 2019 at the end of the previous administration. “In order to show the complete picture of all state liabilities, the current administration booked the gratuities and staff liabilities in the financial statements of the state hence the increase. Residents and citizens of the state can attest to how Gov Abiodun is completing all the abandoned projects of his predecessor and commencing signature projects and roads’. “The governor has concentrated on his ‘Building Our Future Together’ with special attention to infrastructure, health, education and agriculture. Also, the welfare and security of the people which are the primary functions of government are equally on the front-burner”, he said. Penpushing reports that, efforts to get Amosun’s reaction as at the time of filing this report proved abortive, as he was not responding to several telephone calls made to him https://penpushing.com.ng/ogun-state-government-uncovers-former-governor-amosuns-hidden-n50-billion-debt/ |

https://guardian.ng/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/Ogun-picture-2-1062x598.jpg Ogun State has been described as the most suitable location for the African Development Bank and International Fund for Agricultural Development (AfDB/IFAD) Special Agricultural-Processing Zone (SAPZ) programme. Both bodies expressed this when they were received by the governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, in Abeokuta, last week. Also, the Commissioner for Finance and Chief Economic Adviser, Mr Dapo Okubadejo, presented arguments and facts to support the proposed cargo airport in the state. He said the African Free Continental Trade Agreement (AFCTA) is the largest regional economic network, and Ogun State is strategically located with presence of multinational agro-allied conglomerates to benefit from the trade. About 74 per cent of the landmass in Ogun is arable, and the state is the largest producer of poultry, cassava and a host of other produce. The AfDB/IFAD teams were on a pre-appraisal mission for development of Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zone, led by Dr Chuma Ezedinma. In his remark, the Country Director, IFAD, Dr Patrick Habamenshi, noted that Nigeria as a country has the potential to achieve greatness through agriculture. While stressing that the development of the sector is paramount to IFAD, Habamenshi urged the governor to support the team with the necessary logistics that might be required towards the successful implementation of the project. Addressing the team, the governor declared that Ogun has the potential in the area of good road networks, power plant, rail, deep sea-port, gas pipeline, dams among others factors that promote industrialization. The government said its agro-cargo airport would catalyze industrial revolution and value chain development through the agro-processing zone. The state is one of the six where agricultural processing zones would be financed by AfDB and IFAD in Nigeria. He said with its current level of infrastructure, coupled with the concentration of agro-investors and nearness to raw materials and large market, Ogun is naturally a SAPZ location and suitable for SAPZ innovation and case study. “There is a level of coordination, aggregation and agro-transformation currently going on in the state, as the largest hub for both conventional industries and Agro Industries, which are located near Lagos, one of the largest markets in Africa.” Abiodun added that with the earmarking of 20,000 hectares of land including advance level brown field activities, the state has taken the AfDB SAPZ initiative to a higher level, emphasising that the commencement of the Cargo Airport, whose first phase would be delivered in 2022, would complement export opportunities and nationwide supplies. According to him, the state was happy to be chosen as one of the benefitting states in the country, saying the project was in line with the administration’s economic agenda. “I note with great pleasure, our agenda to pursue international collaborations, which is leading us, with hopes from the AfDB SAPZ initiative, just like our collaboration with IITA which has helped us deliver on key Agricultural outputs, with extraordinary performances,” he stated. He expressed delight at the progress made by the state in the Federal Government of Nigeria/International Fund for Agricultural Development’s Value Chain Development Programme (VCDP), whereby 13,000 people had been linked to credit market and jobs as well as benefits of infrastructure, markets, roads, land clearing and others. “Since inception of this administration in May 2019, our agricultural agenda has been bold, daring, ambitious and exemplary. From registration of over 80,000 people (mostly youths) for Agricultural value chain opportunities, to linkage of over 15,000 people to credit, input and guaranteed market and productivity in the FGN/CBN Ogun Anchor Borrowers Programme and other programmes, despite a restrictive COVID-19 year, and a host of others. “The gathering of global agricultural authorities and experts, as part of our administration’s bid for the Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zone (SAPZ) Project, is an indication of our government’s continuous effort to seek partnership and collaboration, in its resolve to support all levels of agricultural activities to achieve food security,” Abiodun pointed out. The governor said since inception of this administration in May 2019, “our agricultural agenda has been bold, daring, ambitious and exemplary – from registration of over 80,000 people (mostly youths) for agricultural value chain opportunities to linkage of over 15,000 people to credit, input and guaranteed market and productivity in the FGN/CBN Ogun Anchor Borrowers Programme and other programmes despite a restrictive COVID-19 year, and a host of others.” https://m.guardian.ng/features/afdb-ifad-say-ogun-most-suitable-for-special-agro-processing-zone/amp/ |
