You said Ibori cannot be arrested and tried again since he has already been tried and convicted in a London court. The principle you quoted is called double jeopardy in law.
Yes he cannot be arrested and tried again for the money laundry case that was concluded in London. The matter on ground now is different. Ribadu alleges Ibori offered him 15 million dollars bribe. No court has heard that case yet. Ibori can be tried for that in Nigeria.
all politicians give bribe. Tinubu bribed all the polling agents and policemen in 2003 polls. I was a corper then and I saw it happen. don't say what u don't know. Every polling unit got 100k each from Tinubu and they misbehaved the way the wanted to. If u don't know, the politicians are a group of wicked men who divided themselves into 2groups and have vowed Neva to allow the gullible masses know their secrets no matter how badly they fight. Nigerians are pawns in the chess board of these satanic men, they mean no good for the people. Watch out, when APC finishes, pdp will take it back and the cycle continues.

May thunder fire u this useless gworo chewing thief called Nuhu and his co travelers. U will not be able to open ur gutter mouth in the dock. U shall die untimely for persecuting a fellow thief like u and u pay masters. May all those using or trying to use James onanefe Ibori as scape goat die before he returns from the UK. Idiots. Before God and man, Ibori has paid for his atrocities, the remaining 99% thieving politicians in Nigeria should pay for their own sin too.
Rubbish news!!! Giving dis criminal unnecessary importance[/quoteMy brother, "in a state of lawlessness, it is criminal to be law abiding" so says the wise ones. Nigeria is a zoo, we made the mistake of allowing our own to be the scape goat where all politicians are confirmed thieves. Ibori is an ex convict no doubt, but all of them are thieves and they know this in their hearts. We thought Buhari would change the status quo, but from recent findings, he seems to have coveted the throne for his personal "enjoyment" and not to do anything for the common Man. Have u seen the latest 2017 budget? Buhari budgeted 144 thousand nairaland with some fractions to pack his "expensive shit" everyday for 365 days in 2017. Is that not to tell u that he is as useless as can be?. Ibori should come home and match them power for power, politics for politics. Are u aware that no urhobo man is in this gvt? Reason being that the only influential one we have was sold long ago as scape goat. Urhobo and delta regret that move. Ibori will come back and succeed in bringing urhobo back to limelight. End of story.

Buhari himself is a thief. Budgeted 144k plus some fractions to pack his "expensive shit" everyday for 365 days. I regret supporting this bastard against Jonathan. This gvt is the most corrupt in the history of this country. Buhari only sought power to enjoy what he missed in 1984. God punish buhari and his thieving cabinet....

OP, u must be a stranger in Nigeria to think this is a mistake. Leave dat mata abegiiii, most schools in the south west wether federal or state do not like to admit students from the Niger Delta. I know what i am talking about. They deliberately did what they did to make it look like the student wasn't qualified but the real reason is tribalism. I schooled in the West and I know what we passed thru to be able to come out in one piece. Yoruba people are "majorly" tribalistic. That is no news and does not make the Ibos and Hausas better off, the difference is that the hausas are a bit mild in there show of tribalism and if peradventure u speak their language, they accept u more.

DONSMITH123:
Ife Ogunfuwa

A new national labour movement called United Labour Congress of Nigeria has been formed by 25 industrial unions from the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria on Saturday.

The ULC elected 13 executives to drive its mandate in which the General Secretary of the National Union of Electricity Employees, Joseph Ajaero, emerged as its National President.

In addition, Igwe Achese of Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, became its Deputy President; K. Kadiri became its National Vice President while Onyeka Chris emerged as its acting General Secretary.

In a communiqué issued at the end of its inaugural delegates’ conference, the congress said there was an urgent need for a rebirth of the organised labour in order to recreate a movement capable of fulfilling its potential to Nigerian workers, masses and Nigeria.

Members of the union pledged to restore hope to Nigerian workers who were being victimised, and neglected, adding that it would defend the rights of oppressed Nigerians in a bid to make governance more effective and responsive.

They observed that the existing labour unions had been compromised by forces that did not have its interest, that of Nigerians at heart, saying that there was need for a refining and strengthening of trade unionism.

if they are real, they should start their activism by correcting all the ills in the oil servicing companies begining with Ciscon Nig. Ltd. That company has made mess of their staff of over 21years despite all the monies they have made for the company in all these years They must bring the company to book ßy making sure all deductions are remitted to gvt which include tax, pension, nhf, cooperative, etc. It's so bad that they sack people at will without benefit. As we speak, they are owing over 7months salary. Ajaero should start with that and let's see if he knows his work.

At least one person was feared dead while several others were wounded in a stampede at various banks in Warri, Delta State, after the promoters of the popular Mavrodi Mundial Moneybox (MMM) suspended the accounts of about 3.3 million Nigerian participants.

It was learnt that the participants in the Ponzi scheme, who heard about the announcement yesterday, rushed to their banks to verify. Investigation shows that in one of the busiest banks in Warri metropolis, an elderly man, who was expected to cash N1.5 million slumped and died when he could not cash the money.

Two other persons, who slumped in the same manner, were quickly revived by sympathisers. Scores of others sustained serious injuries as they rushed to get their hard earn money.

Bank officials refused to speak on the issue. Meanwhile, bandits were cashing in on the confusion and rowdy situation to extort money and rob customers who have continued to besiege banks.

It's a pity only wrong people take good positions. I challenge kekemeke to use the present APC gvt to make a bridge to his town. The logistics problem to that town is unprecedented. The problem we have in Africa is that we believe religion so much that even the people who introduced it to us marvel. Religion cannot take the place of science and technology. It cannot take the place of deeper thinking that brings solution to worlds problems. God gave us head so we can give him rest. Y do we make these so called prophets think they v become God to determine how we live our lives? Bible does not go against any legitimate means of making money. As a mata of fact, it is these prophets who collect all kinds of offerings (real and unreal) that are the scammers.
By Chinonso Alozie, Owerri

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State and Chief
Emmanuel Iwuayanwu Friday called on Nigerians to unite
together in order to protect the integrity of Nigeria as one
country.

They made this call at the Concord Hotel, Owerri during
the opening ceremony of the National Executive Council
meeting of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, in the
State.

According to Okorocha who declared the event open
said, ”We have no place to call our own if not Nigeria.
We must defend the integrity of this country."

“The worst thing that will happen to any society is to have
a visionless leader ”

It was the view of Okorocha, that ” Nigerians must
change their attitude toward their leaders and leaders
must learn how to talk to their followers. ”

Good one, it's about time we knew!

Emassive:
What's your Profession? If you into properties then you will know that it doesn't cost upto 5Million Naira to erect a Bungalow in Sango on a full Plot of land with BoleHole water included. That is an area with a Higher land Value and cost of Labourer compared to the North and mass structures. For the size of this structure (just below 200sqm for each) as we can see in the shows the land price is below 50,000 each then the structure without Tiling for sure is less than 1.5M to erect with the windows not costing upto 200,000 per unit. This structure value and the vicinity into consideration shouldn't cost more than 1.7M to 2M for Subsidy rate.
quote author=oruma19 post=50670305]It seems to me that most people that have commented so far really do not understand the cost implications of raising a 2bedroom flat no matter how small it seems. I expected that the mode of payment for such lovely buildings be questioned and not the cost. It is very cheap and reasonable for 2.7m. when governors do the right thing they should be applauded and encouraged and not foolishly criticized. Appreciation is application for more. This is one of the reasons our leaders steal our common wealth because no matter what they do for the people, we never really appreciate. Let us have real introspective revolution and see how Nigeria will change for the better.
