The funny thing is that Arab nations initially accepted the return of the Jews, but then Israel began expanding beyond the land that was allocated to it. Because it had the backing of Britain and the United States, it was able to capture more territory and displace the people living there, the Palestinians.

Why, then, would you expect there to be peace? Not only that, Israel and the United States have been influencing Arab and Persian states in ways that have limited their military strength. This is one reason we see various groups engaging in guerrilla warfare against Israel.

Israel seeks greater control in the Middle East to influence regional outcomes. This is why Iran is being targeted, and some argue that if Iran is weakened, countries like Turkey could be next, there are already statements from some Israeli leaders portraying Turkey as an even greater concern than Iran.

At its core, this conflict is about power and control, not what it is often presented to be.

mikeapollo:
You are getting it mixed up! What is causing the problem is SOVEREIGNTY over the LAND.
It is colonial masters or rulers that declare Statehood and they do so when they are satisfied or pushed to do so based on various factors or circumstances.
And why are you so obsessed with the fact that Israel was not a State before 1948.? . Can you answer why there was no Egyptian State before 1922? And why there were no Jordanian and Syrian States before 1946?. So Israel in 1948 is nothing unique or strange. But this does that mean that the LANDS with people with history and culture did not exist. Every country or State in this world had indigenous people with history and culture existing or living on a paricular LAND before the LAND was declared a State. The LAND must have been in existence before a State, not vice versa.
There had been people with history and culture living on the LAND before Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya etc became States in the 1950/60.

There were always Jewish population on their land even when they were under different colonial rulers and when the land was conquered during different wars. They were never wiped off completely even though in the minority so they could not muster the strength and courage to push out the strangers that colonised their land.

If you do not know or understand the circumstances and history behind how some Jews found themselves in Europe and across the world, then you may not be competent enough to discuss this issue.

I am afraid, the " Professor" title that was awarded to you is now under serious re-evaluation and scrutiny.
Kwantinue!
Let me tell you what happened, I hope you learn something today.

1. The Great Revolt (66–73 CE)

Cause: Rebellion against Roman taxation and religious interference.

Key Event: The Siege of Jerusalem (70 CE), led by the future Emperor Titus.

Outcome: Destruction of the Second Temple; thousands were killed or enslaved.

Legacy: Initiated the first major wave of the Jewish diaspora.

2. The Bar Kokhba Revolt (132–136 CE)

Leader: Simon bar Kokhba, who briefly established an independent state. (Not Ireal to be clear)

Roman Response: Emperor Hadrian launched a campaign of total suppression.

Casualties: Approximately 580,000 Jews were killed, and about 1,000 villages were destroyed.

Rebranding: Hadrian renamed the province Syria Palaestina (after the Philistines) and banned Jews from Jerusalem to sever their connection to the land.

Since then, they dispersed and integrated across different parts of the world. Don’t be surprised that some of them are in places like Iran.

Egypt, however, was never similarly dispersed; it has consistently been the land of the Egyptians, with a history going back more than 6,000 years.

SonofElElyonRet:
Study your history. Modern state of Israel is different from the ancient nation of Israel. There was a dispersion after the 70AD revolt. Even before that, there was a dispersion when Babylon conquered Israel/Judah. What happened in 1948 was a regathering to form the modern state of Israel
So Jews were dispersed for 2,000 years, and now the people who have lived there during that time are expected to become occupied and controlled because some people claim to be descendants of Jews. I don’t see how that logic is justified. In fact, many, arguably the majority, are not originally Jewish but are Europeans who later adopted the religion.

Moreover, there was never a nation of Israel at any time before 1948, check this fact carefully. Jerusalem and its surroundings were not home to Israelites alone; check your Bible again.

If that is the case, then Americans, both Black and White, should also be forcefully removed, since thousands of years ago, America was home to Native Americans. Have you heard of the Aztec civilization? These were among the original peoples of lands now called the USA, yet I don’t see you arguing in their favor after Europeans decimated them.

Why does this argument apply to Jews but not to Native Americans?

This shows your undiluted bias against Israel and total disregard for historical, cultural and scientific facts and truth! You must have been swallowed completely by the lies and propaganda from channels like AlJazeera, Press TV etc
The LAND of Israel and its kingdoms of Judea, Samaria, Gallilee, Jerusalem etc existed more than 3000 years ago alongside Eqypt, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan. True or false? King David established Jerusalem as the capital of the LAND of Israel over 3000 years ago. True or false? There is a long chronology of Jewish Kings who ruled over the LAND of Israel? True or false? The language was Hebrew. True or false? The LAND of Israel, like Hebron, Beersheba, Shiloh have the graves and tombs where their ancestors and prophets like jacob, Joseph, Isaac, Rebecca, Leah, Esther, Jesus Christ etc were buried. True of false? The Romans ruled over the LAND of Israel just as they did over some other placess in that region. True or false?
By your post, you prefer that all these facts be sacrificed and thrown away in order to satisfy and pacify the Arabs (most popular ethnic group?) simply because they don't want the Israelis or Jews in their midst? So Israel and Jews should be obliterated and wiped off the place in inorder to make their adversaries and people who share your sentiments to be happy and peaceful?
Tell me any single book of history of the LAND of Israel and its neighbours that is more factual and authentic than the Bible and Quran? Put the Bible aside and read Quran chapter 5 vs 20-21. Is that a "pretext" too? Where do you find a place called "Palestine"?
Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Israel have been neighbours for more 3000 years and they experienced colonial rule at different tines. Egypt became a State in 1922 when it gained independence. Lebanon became a State in 1942. Syria and Jordan became States in 1946. So why single out Israel for becoming a State in 1948 and forment trouble and wars because of that? From your post, you seem to infer that Israel should never have become a State and their land should have been divided and shared amongst new settlers simply because some people never wanted their existence or presence in the region?
This clearly shows that the problem is from the Arabs and not Israel.
The Arabs waged several wars against Israel and lost lands in the orocess. But Israel has returned lands to Egypt, Jordan after they signed the peace pacts.
But there was no state of Israel before the 1940s, you can confirm this. Israel as a country was established in 1948. One could even argue that Nigeria, as a country, is older. This is a fact you can verify. In all your long writing, you never mentioned why there was no Jewish state prior to the 1940s In fact, there were no Jews living in those lands. They came from all over the world; this shows a gap in your knowledge.

Why don’t you calm down and do some research, or ask me respectfully so I can explain it to you?

Non of these can equal nuclear weapon in the hand of Iran or any other Islamic fanatic nation e.g Afghanistan, Yemen, Lebanon etc. that will be as good as giving a mass destruction button to a mad man.
Don't ask me how I knew Trump's isn't just giving the dog a bad name to hang it. The antecedents of Iran shows that if they can lay their hands on Nuclear weapon by any means they will develop it just to wipe out Israel and America.
Russia has plenty Nuclear weapons but can never try to use it against Ukraine no matter how hard Ukraine has proved to be.
Israel has and can never contemplate despite having enemies everywhere but Iran can not be trusted by anyone in the world their extremism is out of this world.
Actually, there are several hard-line Islamic countries that possess nuclear weapons. For example, Pakistan, India’s long-standing rival due to the Kashmir conflict, has them, yet we have not seen them used. Iran is not an Arab country; it is overwhelmingly Persian. Even if Iran had nuclear weapons, they would likely be among the last to use them.

If you are following the conflict, most of Iran’s actions can be seen as counter-moves. Let’s hope the United States does not nook them, because that risk appears to be increasing. It is contradictory to accuse a country of pursuing something you already possess, if it is truly unacceptable, why keep it in your own arsenal? Much of the current tension exists because Iran does not yet have nuclear weapons. In my view, Iran is likely to become a nuclear state soon.

The problem in the Middle East can be traced back to the 1940s, after the Second World War, when the state of Isrãēl was created, and the subsequent acquisition of more land using the Bible as a pretext.

If I am an Iranian fighter and my government is reputed for funding Islamic terrorists in different countries (Hamas, Houthis, Hezbollah) I will request for a nuclear vest as a condition to continue my service.
Those that keep saying that Iran was struck first are you people saying that the world's police should fold their arms and watch Iran create more terrorists groups to surround Israel and develop nuclear weapons that will give them enough capacity to obliterate Israel before Israel should come on the defensive after the first strike?
Now tell me that it is a lie that Iran is not sponsoring almost all the terrorist groups that have attacked Israel at different times?
The USA has also sponsored terrorist groups it considered useful for achieving its objectives by providing arms, funding, and training. Let me give you a few examples, there are more subtle ones, but you can start your research with these:

1. The Afghan Mujahideen (1979–1989)

2. The Contras in Nicaragua (1980s)

3. Cuban exile groups (1960s–1970s)

4. Syrian rebels and “Timber Sycamore” (2012–2017)

Let’s not even get into the countries where governments were overthrown for being anti-West. I always say this: don’t hold strong opinions about any subject, including trading, without digging deep into it first.

This is not true. Iran was attacked first for political reasons. In fact, the U.S. has no clear, universally agreed justification for doing so. The U.S. has largely contributed to the current fuel crisis affecting the world, not Iran.

If you don’t understand the mechanics of the conflict, ask questions or read more to gain a clearer perspective.

It’s people like Pa Ema and the other long-term investors that will endure for the stock. If Presco starts dropping 10% daily, Oga will remain there and even buy more. Even after a 50% haircut, Loco can never do that.

LOL, the moves were tactical. I wasn’t investing for the long term, so the actions I took should be judged across all the possible trades I could have made, not just a particular one. Yes, NGXGroup went on to perform "well", but their are others that didn’t. Just ask the people who bought Oando at 80 or 90, it’s been almost two years and the price still hasn’t recovered.

So, no regrets. I’m fairly satisfied with what I got from it. We move. cool

Like seriously. Getting Tired of this Oando shyte. 😡
I think there are three major forces preventing Oando’s price from rising.

First, most of the recent buyers appear to be traders looking for quick profits. They want to cash out fast, people like Peter, for example. Any news that does not strongly support the stock can easily trigger a rapid exit.

Second, some investors are taking profits because of the rights issue. If you are confident that you can obtain a good quantity at ₦50, then selling anything above ₦50 plus brokerage fees is essentially locking in free profit.

Third, there are long-term holders who may want to exit and redeploy their capital into stronger companies. The truth is that Oando is not performing particularly well on a fundamental basis, even though it still has potential.

When I opened Morgan’s iTrade this morning around 10:20 and saw the large number of offers compared to bids, I immediately suspected the price would fall today.

The easiest way for Oando’s price to move upward would be sustained positive news. For example, a major spike in oil prices, maybe to $180–$200, could help. But, even that scenario comes with its own set of problems.

Question for you.

What happened to Naira for crude deal? What happened to locally sourced crude or does it come through the straight of Hormuz?

What happened to crude stock? What happened to refined stock? And Reserve if any? Has Nigerians consumed all?

Three or more Dangotes and Nigerians will be alright. Monopoly has never served or benefited the masses.
ghm:
Question for you.

Let's say the government had allowed those importers, where do you think they will get fuel from given the global supply chain problem due to the Iran war?
How do you think they will stabilise price in the face of subsidy removal and rising oil prices?

When subsidy is removed. prices follows the global price movements. Let's be intellectuals please.
This is why not every post is worth indulging. Is Dangote Refinery not a business? Or is Nigerian crude being sold below the market price? It is reasonable that if you buy at a high price, you will also sell at a high price, unless there is evidence that Nigeria is still selling crude at around $60.

The only thing we need Dangote Refinery to do is keep producing and prevent scarcity, as long as we are supplying it with crude.

This oil crisis will likely not be stopping anytime soon. Iran has hundreds of thousands of stock piled missiles and they have nothing to loose. They are already down with their supreme leader killed. Na Us get everything to prove. The power of a military is not totally known until it is put into test. Oil will likely get to 150 cos Iran na to de fire missiles up and down now to destabilise everyone
Actually, they are not firing missiles indiscriminately as you suggest. They have precise targets, and all the missiles they fire are intended to achieve specific objectives. Don’t rely too heavily on Western media; they tend to portray “others” as weaker and less strategic than they really are.

During the first few days, the aim was to neutralize the military bases around them, which they largely achieved. It also served to preempt other Gulf states from joining against them. Now they have effectively isolated the two aggressors, so it is essentially between them at this point.

Before this conflict ends, one very large U.S. aircraft carrier will either be sunk or severely damaged.

I don’t think the hedge will cause them to lose money. Rather, it means they won’t benefit from additional gains if prices rise above the contracted level. The only real loss would occur if the cost of production increases beyond the fixed price.

Dividend and bonus already on the table, you no dey chop dividend and bonus? cool
Based on my dividend valuation model, if we look strictly at the ₦3.00 dividend or even the EPS, the stock should not be valued above ₦100.00.

Technically, the share bonus is a zero-sum game; since everyone gains in the same proportion, there is no real difference if every shareholder suddenly holds two shares at an adjusted price instead of one. But, there may be other factors being priced in here.

Two things, in my limited understanding, would make Dangote Sugar attractive again (for now until plantation mature): if the exchange rate falls to around ₦1,100 or lower, and if interest rates drop to about 10% or below.

We’ve seen this kind of accumulation before, only for the momentum to get crushed back to ₦60 or even lower. Dangote Sugar has a reputation for keeping its results under wraps until the official announcement, so don’t be surprised if the current rally is driven more by hope, and by the strong performance of other Dangote businesses than by hard numbers.
