Jeezuzpick: The argument is that the psychos will get guns illegally anyway.
Look at Nigeria. Robbers, Militants, Political Thugs, Kidnappers, Cultists, Herdsmen (!!) all have access to guns. What would have happened if we all had guns?
Will we have these killing sprees in Benue?
Just sayin. Go and watch some old western movies and see for your self what a mess it would be. In such a world you would be constantly worried that a shoot out might break out over any slight disagreement. |

daywatcher: Yes the Yorubas a minority ethnic group will just sit back and let the demography change until they become a minority in Eko-Lagos. I don't think there is much that can be done, it might take decades but ethnicity will mean less and less expecially in the urban areas. It's already happening, in other places too. |
Education › Re: Yoruba Mandatory For Admission In Lagos Tertiary Institutions by ositadima1(m): 2:58pm On Feb 13, 2018 |
daywatcher: You are right but its highly unlikely or even impossible Yorubaland, and by extension Nigeria, will get there anytime soon. Because, if an Igbo becomes governor of Eko-Lagos he or she will devote significant effort into relegating or promoting Igbo culture over Yoruba culture. For this reason and the foreseeable future a Yoruba man will always govern Eko-Lagos. Yeah, but it's possible, if Lagos experience a change in ethnic demography, in other words if the Yoruba man gets outnumbered as more and more people migrate over the years, acquiring properties as well. After all, domination is a numbers thing. |

daywatcher: Olukemi Olufunto Badenoch is the MP for Saffron Walden Constituency which is 95% white.
https://www.citypopulation.de/php/uk-england-eastofengland.php?cityid=E34002562
Do you need more examples to show that you are wrong Chi Onwurah is the MP for Newcastle Constituency which is 88% white. Chuka Umunna is the MP for Streatham Constituency which is 58.2% white. Fiona Onasanya is the MP for Peterborough Constituency which is 70.9% white. Kate Badenoch is the MP for Edmonton Constituency which is 64.7% white. Indirectly it supports my original point, you may not need ethnic majority to get elected to political position in a democracy. I envisage an Igbo governor elect for Lagos State, after all it's not by ethnicity as pointed out by friend; LaudableXX: It just means the politicians articulated their programmes and campaigns well-enough, to attract people who cut across all races, to vote for them. |

LaudableXX: You are the one playing dumb. When you goof, you should apologise and seek enlightenment, but you are too dumb to do that. Someone has corrected you that not all the black politicians elected into the UK parliament, came from a predominantly black community. And you used your own keyboard to type the fact that the Yoruba people could become a minority in future, which was why you cited the UK example, to highlight what could happen in Lagos, in the near future. So why are you denying it? Funny, at least you now know what a constituency mean. If I say constituency I don't mean the whole of UK. You have learned something from me. |

LaudableXX: You mentioned it in your previous post. Go back and read it, and stop denying what you said. Were you not the same one who said that black politicians won seats into the UK parliament, in your bid to draw an analogy with your story about those Yoruba people becoming a minority tribe in Lagos? Were you not the one who wrote this? Pls don't play dumb with me, I wrote this; "They were elected by their constituencies where black are majority." |
Education › Re: Yoruba Mandatory For Admission In Lagos Tertiary Institutions by ositadima1(m): 12:31pm On Feb 13, 2018 |
LaudableXX: You keep arguing a clueless point. The fact that those 7 Black politicians were elected into parliament, does NOT mean that black people were in the majority in the UK. It just means the politicians articulated their programmes and campaigns well-enough, to attract people who cut across all races, to vote for them. Or did you hear that only black people voted for those black politicians in the UK?? Your comprehension skills need some brush up, where did I mention black are majority in the UK? Or you don't understand what is the meaning of constituency. To repeat my self, majority in their constituency are blacks and non-whites. To hold a position in a parliament you have to be voted in by your constituency. I hope you learnt something new today. |

LaudableXX: So which federal law exactly are you talking about? Cite it here, in chapter and verse. There was no mention of federal law, in my post that you quoted. Go back and read it again! Jeez, you said and i quote "law passed by Lagos, it can only be abrogated by a court judgement, or repealed, suspended or modified by another law passed by the same Lagos state house of assembly." This statement is false because federal law supersedes state law. |

LaudableXX: Just listen to yourself. Lagos state is firmly within Yoruba land, and you are here saying that Yorubas influence things, because they are in the majority. Na who for do am, before?
So who do you expect to influence things within a state that is firmly located in Yoruba land? Is it the Tivs or the Kanuris? are you praying for those Yoruba people to become a minority within Lagos state? Which kind drink no gree make your eye clear, like dis? Majority will always carry the vote, last year a total of seven Nigerians were elected into the UK parliament. They were elected by their constituencies where black are majority. If the present influx of other tribes continue, in the not so distant future the Yorubas will be outnumbered within Lagos, what do you think will happen then? Again, I don't care, just proving a point. |

td2tnkstr: . That is not all. Lagos is our ancestral land. Our possession, our heritage. No matter how many centuries you live here, you will always be seen as a visitor. We can contest for gubernatorial position which is a dream you can never achieve. Now you answer my own questions. 1. Do you or do you not have problems with your people treating others the direct opposite way you demand they treat you? 2. Why are you ashamed of your own ethnicity? Why are you ashamed to lay claims to Ana, Onitsha, Enugu and the rest? Afterall you all claim they are more developed than the southwest. 3. Why always coveting westerners possession? (which is a sin going by the bible) First question makes no sense to me. Second question, Lagos is a state in Nigeria, until you break away from Nigeria. Lagos is my City. Third question, I never converted anyone's possession, everything I own I worked hard for it. |

td2tnkstr: Lagos is not your city. Stop trying hard. You are and will forever remain a visitor. The other day a yoruba man created a thread about wanting to be governor in Anambra and all your hateful kinsmen started swearing and screaming over their dead bodies. It was funny they fell for the bait because I see no reason why any sensible Yoruba will want to be live talkless of rule an eastern state. Only you easterners will jump at an opportunity to mingle with westerners. I assure you the feeling isnt mutual. Be proud of who you are. It is people like you who travel to foreign countries and start laying claim to benefits meant for indigenes only yet when they put you in your place you start crying about how they hate you because you are Igbo and they see you as a threat. You have not answered the question, it's clear you are unable to, and keep diverting to other irrelevant issues. |

When they spew hatred towards us, do you react to it? When they call Lagos no man's land, do you call them to order? Quit being an hypocrite and be proud of your ethnicity. This isn't about majority population, It is our ancestral land passed on to us by our forefathers. Even if the entire SE migrate to Lagos it wouldn't change anything. Don't forget the State of Origin still stands.
