AutosRe: New Tariff On Importation of Tokunbo Cars Postponed??? by oskaaay(m): 7:21am On Jul 03, 2014
BizBooks: Vanguard is reporting that the new tariff has actually gone into effect.
See important update down thread.

The new 70% tariff on importation of tokunbo cars has been postponed till
January 1, 2015. The previous date of July 1, 2014 has in effect been
rendered null and void. The official reason given for this decision was that
the Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON) had declared all the new made-in-Nigeria
cars "unroadworthy". They claim that none of the new car manufacturers had come
to them for certification. Apparently, without a SON certification, they cannot be
allowed to ply Nigerian roads.

If you have a car at the Port, do not let your agent take you for a ride. Let him know
that the old rate still applies. I will upload a newspaper clipping of the announcement
shortly.
Thanks!!!

FamilyWoman Dead In Bournemouth Flat For Six Years Discovered by oskaaay(op): 8:44am On Jul 02, 2014
A woman has been found dead in her flat in Dorset six years after she died.

The woman, named locally as Anne Leitrim, lived in Tolpuddle Gardens in the Muscliff area of Bournemouth.

A bailiff, estate agent and two locksmiths broke into the ground floor flat on Tuesday and discovered the remains.

Dorset Police said the body was believed to be that of a woman in her seventies but said it was not treating the death as suspicious.

Neighbour John Stanley said: "It's horrifying that, after that amount of time, why hadn't anybody noticed it?

"Because we thought she moved out. She owned a car - the car disappeared - so we automatically thought the lady's moved out and that was it."

CelebritiesRussian Social Media Users Are Campaigning Against The US Singer Demi Lovato by oskaaay(op): 8:32am On Jul 02, 2014
Was reading through BBC trending articles when I stumbled upon a Celebrity-Political controversies post as a singer portray the president of Russia to promote GAY!
https://news.bbcimg.co.uk/media/images/75969000/jpg/_75969938_demialt1.jpg
The article was titled "#BBCtrending: Putin's 'gay kiss' at Lovato gig" and the content goes does:

Russian social media users are campaigning against the US singer Demi Lovato after her concert at New York's gay pride event on Sunday featured a controversial use of an image of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

During a performance of Lovato's latest track Really Don't Care, two of her male backing dancers shared a kiss. One of them was naked except for a portrait of Vladimir Putin attached to his underwear. Shortly afterwards, hashtags about the event began trending in Russia.

See the controversial act in picture below:
https://news.bbcimg.co.uk/media/images/75974000/jpg/_75974047_lovatoputin.jpg

Thousands tweeted #DemiHurtsRussianLovatics ("Lovatics" is how the singer's fans refer to themselves) to show their anger over the incident. #StayStrongPutin has also been used as a way of demonstrating support for the president. "I used to be neutral towards her, but now I'm totally disappointed," wrote one Russian on Twitter. "Now I feel like our country is one big family! Putin unites people!" said another.

The vast majority of Russian social media reaction was strongly against the Putin "gay kiss". But many of Lovato's fans expressed support for the singer. "I'm sorry but she's just standing up for gay rights. Putin's horrible towards the gay community and it's SO wrong." wrote one fan.

The singer herself took to her Twitter page on Monday to respond robustly to the deluge of negative tweets. Lovato denied accusations she'd used offensive language to describe Vladimir Putin, but added "I did have Putin struttin in a rainbow thong. Get your facts straight bitchesss."

What is your take on this article?
PoliticsPlane Crash: Cargo Plane Crashes Into Building In Kenya Just Few Hours Ago by oskaaay(op): 8:13am On Jul 02, 2014
CCN reported few hours ago that a cargo plane crashed into a commercial building shortly after takeoff from an airport in Nairobi, Kenya, early Wednesday, the country's airport authority said.
All four people on board are feared dead.

The Fokker 50 plane crashed shortly after takeoff from Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

Because the crash occurred early in the morning, there was no one inside the building, the airport authority said. Thanks to God for those occupants that they left home earlier to work.

RomanceRe: Why Do Ladies Prefer A Man With Status Job To A Rich Businessman ? by oskaaay(m): 7:41am On Jul 02, 2014
okpara ugo: I am a humble guy who has some rich friends who struggled their ways to the top without the golden spoon syndrome when they were born.

I happen to see that some guys who are out of relationship for one thing or the other or were unable to marry their first love are finding it very hard to settle down with ladies of their choice. These ladies aged between 22-27 tend to come around to enjoy expensive dates and enjoy driving in their cars but will hardly accede to a discussion on marriage.

One question they often ask these successful guys is, " Why not get another job ". One can easily see the concern on their faces when asking this question. Oftentimes these guys are shocked by these questions as some of them have worked in banks and telecom firms before meeting these girls. But right now developed businesses which they do and earn good profit comparable to their salaries as paid employees. In addition some have built good houses, own cars and businesses.

Very vivid is mike's case who was formerly a white collar job worker who when he was living in a one room apartment had many girlfriends and most of these girls were begging him for marriage. He counted about 3 girls who once knelt down in his room to ask for his hands in marriage. Mike now finds it hard to comprehend that now that he owns a business and drives a big car and occupy a big house, what he meets are player ladies. Mike has counted at least 5 of his lady friends who are asking him to get another bank job.

Mike tries to explain to them that getting another bank job is not the problem but meeting the banks deposit targets as he has dumped several offers in the past after he called it quit from the corporate world. One now wonders whether these ladies are disconnected from reality that one, there are no jobs and two, to maintain a job, one cannot actively maintain a thriving business.

Ken once discussed with me how often ladies accepted to be friends with him when he was on tie and suit and worked as an office assistant in a corporate firm. He had a wonderful command of english language though he capped his education at the OND level. He developed love for a particular business and started it while his younger brother ran the business for him he still maintained his job. Later on he found out that his profit from business started exceedinghos salary and he later quit his job to pursue his business fully. Today mike is very successful and lives in his own house, though still single. The ladies he sees are more interested in friendship than in settling down and he has also encountered same questions like," Why not get another job" from his lady friends.

To sum up this write up, why will a lady accept to date a bank contract staff with a salary of N60k or an oil company contract staff with a salary of N80k in preference to a businessman with proof of wealth ?
Those they are meeting are not yet serious ones because most good and marriageable ladies out there even hardly accept offer for expensive shopping and clubbing etc. till they are sure of the commitment of such man.

Tell your friends to check it if they are in search of real life partner then they should stop flashy life style cause everyone knows that it doesn't most times last longer neither is guarantee for steadiness.....
Nairaland GeneralWalking By The Road Side And Pressing Phone-a Bad Habit? by oskaaay(op): 7:27pm On Jul 01, 2014
I sometimes indulge in this but quickly put my mind back on the moving vehicles. Months ago a youth copper was knocked down dead by a moving car while he was carried away pressing his blackberry.

When is it appropriate to give attention to phone when walking by the road side? You can also include a real life ordeal to educate others.

Yemlizzy: Of course! Its quite compulsory but our society would turn deaf ears to issues like this. In the longrun,it would do lot of good in nuturing the young ones who seem obvilious to anything pertaining to their sexuality.

Helping them is helping our future (the little ones) from taking up such to be part of how life should be since successful and popular people show that off frequently (shake off bad habits) to them.
