BusinessRe: My Bitter Experience Shopping On Ebay!!! by oskaaay(m): 9:16am On Jul 15, 2014
drakeskull: Although, being aware of the kinds of ill-treatment most foreign countries subjects Nigerians to, I still went ahead to use services domiciled in those countries since it's legit and have no intention of fraud or whatsoever. I hope i get out of my present predicament.
Last month, I got an info on nairaland that paypal is now accepting Nigerians, extremely elated, I quickly opened an account even though I went through hassles setting it up due to various verification requirements. After successfully opening paypal, I went ahead to open an ebay account, setting up was quite easy, I linked my Gtb card and got confirmation my account has been activated.

Just about five days ago, I tried purchasing a item on a site even though my account couldn't cover up for the purchase, I just tried it to see if truly American sites would accept paypal payments from Nigeria. I got an error which is usual, I later got mails from paypal requesting me to verify my account again by sending my photo id, debit card and bank statement all scanned to them which I did and later got a mail the following day that my account is now fully operative.

Now to the major issue, I saw a phone on ebay at $275.00, though its a bid but i chose the 'buy it now' option, when i got to the checkout page, i got series of errors telling me i have limits to the number of items i can purchase or number of bids i could take part in. The funny thing isd i have never bidded before nor purchased on ebay. The only times i used ebay was year 2012 and 2013 when i purchased some items and it was though a forwarding company (myus.com). They carried out all the transactions and deducted the total from mt gtb card. Back to the issue, i google the cause of the ebay issue and found a solution which is for me to link my preferred payment method to my paypal which i had carried out earlier. I now had to link my gtb card again and the payment went through with confirmation mail.

About an hour later after successful payment which i got a mail to the effect as well as confirmation mail from paypal reflecting the deduction on my account, I received a shocking mail from ebay that my account has been suspended indefinitely due to some security reasons so as to protect buyers and sellers. I was furious, I didnt know what to do cos my account was now useless after debiting me, no way to track my purchase or contact the seller to request cancellation. I read online about the issue where ppl with same issue warned against opening another account or contacting the seller outside ebay cos ebay will find out if u open another account since it will be linked to current paypal account.

I held on and now decided to call their customer care line, I spoke for 19mins 38 secs, the agent apologised and requested me to send bank statement or utility bill or photo id reflecting the same address i used in opening my ebay account. Now, the problem is i used my office address to open the account and none of my utility bills or photo id reflects that. I later sent in the documents and extra ones like a letter informing them or my address issues via fax.

Early this morning, to my astonishment, I received a mail informing me that after reviewing my case, they realised their actions were correct and i will still remain suspended. I immediately called their line, spoke for 32 minutes, the agent apologized, verified my address and checked the transaction. She confirmed the seller even violated ebay policies. My pertinent question is how on earth should i be suspended for another persons acts? ebay even informed me after suspension that am no longer covered by their buyer protection meaning if the seller doesnt ship, its my biz (thats after receiving payment o). I was furious, asking her questions and showing my bitterness that how i wish i stuck to amazon.

She later assured me I will get my refund cos she has confirmed my account. She had to patch me thru to a rep in paypal and informed me to tell the rep i wanna file for claims. The paypal rep too confirmed my account and payment and adviced me to file for claims on paypal if the seller doesnt ship or ships the wrong item but i should wait till the date of estimated delivery time. She placed me on hold to check the estimated delivery time, after abt 4 minutes on hold, she informed me the seller didnt include it and thats another violation undecided.

THE MOST SURPRISING THING IF NOT THE MOST SCARY IS THE FACT THAT THE SELLER HAS RELISTED THE SAME ITEM ON EBAY. THE SAME ITEM THAT WAS SHOWING "SOLD" AFTER I PURCHASED IT huh.

This i pointed out to the reps which was confirmed as abnormal. I would wait till 20th or 21st of this month, if i dont get my item, na to file claim straight up.

I guess its high time we boycott all these countries that labels us as fraud or stop using their humiliating services even though they are bigger fraud themselves.

I will keep my fingers crossed till that date and update this thread as events unfold. This is really a bitter experience, going though loss of my hard earned money.

PoliticsWishing The Chibok Girls A Happy Marriage Life: Can This Be True Nairalanders? by oskaaay(op): 4:09pm On Jul 14, 2014
I can’t just conclude if this is a makeup, research or what ever but it interest me and perceive that it will interest you as a reader of this article and until you read it to the end you may not be able to draw conclusion as it should be. The story was said to be written by “GODin etakibuebu, a public affairs analyst, wrote from Lagos.” published by Vanguard. Please carefully read through below:
https://informationvilla.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/chibok-girls-pictures-300x168.jpg

ONE beautiful thing about this Baba from Owu in Abeokuta, General Aremu Okikiola Olusegun Obasanjo, is that he has answers to all questions. It is not always that Uncle ‘Sege’ waits for you to ask that question agitating your mind. He knows what your question is most likely to be so he gives you the answer while you are still meditating about what exactly you want to ask. That is “Baba” for you.

The “oracle” has done it again by telling us that some of the abducted [were they kidnapped or adopted by a Shetima and company?] girls might never return back home. The old soldier kept the mind of the parents [and that is if they were really kidnapped] at peace by saying that what might deny them coming back home would be “marital” issue.

Hold it please. Baba did not say it specifically that those girls [either all of them or some of them] are married. But he did mention something about pregnancy. I am aware that most girls of this present generation do become mothers without marriages. The tag “single mother” is almost becoming a title around the world today. In the United Kingdom, being a single mother [if you are a citizen] gives automatic right of “council flat” allocation. That is now the beauty of the game of being a single mother. But this is not the subject of discussion here. Let us go back to the topic.

It is over eighty days that those girls were taken away from their school in a circumstance that is yet to be fully comprehended. Were they kidnapped? Were they abducted [there is a slight difference between kidnap and abduction]? Or were they adopted? For now, only a few highly placed people can give us needed answers to these questions. These are the Governor of the State, the Principal of the school, the Chief of Defence Staff, the General officer commanding the 7th Division of the Army [then because he has been replaced and of course, former President Olusegun Obasanjo. Any other person who says he or she knows the exact fact of the girls “excursion” to whatever place they are is not a reliable witness.

Why would the Governor know? Simply, he said that much himself and being the Chief Security of the State, he has all the information before and after the “commission of the exercise”. He gave money to the parents of the girls, said that “we know where they were” and suddenly group photograph of “none-panicking and comfortable-looking” young girls video clip was posted on television by Ibrahim Shekau; the dreaded Boko Haram leader. The governor, from circumstantial evidence related above, was in touch and most likely still in factual touch with “operators of the drama” involving our daughters from Chibok. The money he earlier [paid] gave to the parents of those girls might as well be the cost of “bride price” in a mass marriage arrangement he presided over. Please, don’t be in hurry to throw away this theory.

The Principal of the school ought to be the chief custodian of those girls under her care, all things being equal. She “arranged” the brides [girls] for the night of the “marriage” [sorry night of kidnap] without knowing the numbers before she went to her house to wait for the news. By the way, we don’t know the exact number of girls involved up till date. The Principal might be a willing or unwilling participant in the “marriage” arrangement of our daughters from Chibok but she surely knows more than she is telling us.

The Chief of Defence Staff; a three star General of the Nigerian Air Force told the whole world the “exact truth” about those girls. He said “we know where they are”. I believed him because he is next to the Commander-in-Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces, President Goodluck Jonathan, in military matters. He knows everything about the terrorists, either in or around the Sabisa forest of Borno State. It was the authority of his knowledge that made him to tell us the day he was appointed as CDS that Boko Haram would “come to an end by April”. Being part of the “marriage arrangement” of our girls later might be the way of telling us about “April” of which year the insurgency shall come to an end. He knows about the “marriage” and probably presided over the “ceremony” as chairman hence his knowledge of where the girls were [are].

Former President Olusgun Obasanjo retains a father- figure for the whole country. He knows everything and this is true; a fact you can confirm by reading his account of the Civil war in that “all-knowing” book – My Command. The book revealed the warrior from Egbaland as a man who knows “everything” about the totality of the war even if some of those battles he described were outside the sphere of the 3rd Marine Commando. The Baba is almost God the Omni-presence. He “knows” everything. His resent lamentation that the (complete @ http://informationvilla.com/blog/2014/07/wishing-chibok-girls-happy-marriage-life-can-true.html )

FamilyRe: What To Do When Your Husband Won’t Help With House Chores by oskaaay(op): 11:30am On Jul 12, 2014
oskaaay: It’s Saturday and despite a BUSY week, you’re up early again. You drag yourself out of bed and start facing chores. You make breakfast, your darling husband eats, leaves his dishes on the table and moves to the Living room to enjoy T.V (despite the fact that the living room needs some cleaning up). Your kids are very young and can’t help much with chores. You’re exhausted and tensed, yet all the clutter stares you in the face. But what riles you the most? Of course! It’s the sight of your sweetheart concentrated on the TV, totally unconcerned about your running here and there!

MARRIAGE TIPS NOBODY TELLS US…

Unfortunately, the scene described above is quite common in these parts. What to do? Consider these tips:

What-to-do-when-husband-won't-help-around-house-mamagidi

TALK to him about it. Try to communicate your feelings without sounding confrontational.
THE few occasions on which he offers to help, accept it (even if you don’t really need his help at the time).
WHEN he helps out, give him a treat. It doesn’t have to involve spending money. Just make sure it communicates your thoughtfulness and appreciation. Knowledge of your husband’s turn-ons should come in handy here.
4 IMPORTANT REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD GET HELP

ACCEPT the fact that he may NEVER be as concerned as you are about housekeeping.
DON’T be a boss-lady. It’s a complete turn-off for most men!
IF he doesn’t do something to your satisfaction, don’t adjust it immediately in his presence. You know how you used to feel back then when mum came into the kitchen and threw all the dishes you just washed back in the sink.
YOUR TEENAGER AND CHORES

KNOW when to ask for help. You definitely don’t want to ask him to help with the trash can while he’s boiling- or worse, hungry!
FINALLY, and very importantly, if you know where patience is sold, don’t hesitate to use up your bank accounts on it. BUY IN BULK!
Hope you find these tips helpful. If you know of any other tips that can get our husbands off their seats and helping around the house, please feel free to share!

PoliticsImpeachment: PDP, APC Clash Over Nyako by oskaaay(op): 12:24am On Jul 12, 2014
The ruling Peoples Democratic Party and the All Progressives Congress have intensified their battle to control Adamawa State.
https://www.punchng.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/Adamawa-State-Governor-Admiral-Murtala-Nyako-360x225.jpg
Saturday PUNCH learnt that the PDP was working hard to force the state governor, Alhaji Murtala Nyako, to resign so that the ruling party could recapture the state.

The governor, it was further learnt, almost bowed to pressure from the PDP members in the state House of Assembly when the investigative panel set up by the Acting Chief Judge, Justice Ambrose Mammadi, began sitting in Yola early in the week.

It was learnt that the governor was ready to resign early this week.

It was, however, gathered that his party, APC, persuaded him not to resign, while the party leadership continued to lobby some of the lawmakers.

Sources said the APC thought that it was still premature for Nyako to resign while the leadership of the party was trying to frustrate the impeachment plot.

There were reports that the embattled governor would, on Tuesday, tender his resignation letter and pave way for his deputy, Mr. Bala Ngilari, to be sworn in as governor.

Nyako, who was reported to have left Abuja for Yola, the Adamawa State capital, to resign however made a surprise appearance at the National Council of State meeting on Tuesday.

His spokesman, Ahmed Sajo, was reported on Wednesday as saying that his boss was still considering resignation.

He had said, “The resignation is just an option. That is if the whole thing will lead to a crisis, there will be no option than to resign.”

But a member of the APC National Working Committee, who confided in one of our correspondents, said that the party was not in support of the governor’s plan to resign.

He said, “We are supporting the governor and we have been working to frustrate the impeachment plot. We cannot be discussing our strategies on the pages of newspapers.

“But we do not want him to resign. He has been told not to resign.”

Nyako had, in the letter, accused the President of committing genocide against the North in the name of Boko Haram. But the governor was said to have refused to apologise at the meeting.

While the APC leadership lobbied some lawmakers in Adamawa State, it was gathered that the PDP was also putting pressure on them not to back down from the impeachment plot.

Efforts to get reactions of the APC National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, failed as he had yet to respond to the text message sent to his mobile telephone.

But Mohammed had on Wednesday accused “higher authorities” of instigating the impeachment.

Though the PDP, distanced itself from the issue, saying that it should not be dragged into the impeachment plot, the spokesman for PDP Stakeholders and Elders’ Forum, Dr. Umar Ardo, on Friday threatened to sanction any legislator on the party’s platform who backs out of the move to impeach Nyako and Ngilari.

Ardo said, “The impending impeachment of Nyako and his deputy is a PDP affair, we have got to a level where none of our 20 lawmakers who earlier signed the impeachment notice will be allowed to withdraw. Any PDP lawmaker that retraces his step ceases to be a member of PDP.”

Speaking through its Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Abdullahi Jalo, on Thursday, the PDP said that it would be uncharitable for anyone to drag the national headquarters of the party into the crisis.

He said, “What is happening in Adamawa State is a local affair. Members of the state House of Assembly were elected by their people to represent them.

“Even Governor Murtala Nyako, who has since left the PDP, has told the whole world that he will ask for President Jonathan’s help if he needs it.

“I don’t know why you want to drag our party into an issue that is purely a local affair between a governor and his legislators.”

But a member of the House of Representatives from Adamawa State, Mr. Nwangubi Fons, said that only God could save Nyako from being impeached.

Incidentally, Fons, who represents Mayo-Belwa/Jada/Ganye Federal Constituency, is the governor’s representative.

Nyako hails from Mayo-Belwa Local Government Area of the state.

“Unless there is divine intervention, the governor is going, because members of the state House of Assembly are on the right path,” Fons told Saturday PUNCH in an interview in Abuja.

He said the Adamawa lawmakers had already gone far in their decision to impeach Nyako, whom he accused of running the state without consulting other stakeholders, particularly those who supported his election in 2007.

Asked what could have been the governor’s offence, Fons replied that Nyako did not feel that he should be accountable to the people of the state.

He said, “Nyako has failed to work based on the principle of budgeting.

“He overspends money and maintains only his family and friends in the system. He has abandoned those who worked for him and has no respect for anybody, including Mr. President.

“When he came into office, the first thing he did was to do away with the person, who single-handedly brought him to office, Prof. Jibrin Aminu.

“If the governor has been good, how come all the eight members of the House of Representatives from the state are in PDP?

“Hardly will anybody say that the governor is performing.

“If you are good as a governor, 19 members of the state House of Assembly will not sign to impeach you. It means that they have abandoned the governor.”

However, Nyako’s spokesperson, Sajo, faulted the lawmakers’ planned impeachment, adding that the people had rejected them.

He said, “Some of these members of the state and National Assembly brought rice and sugar to distribute to people, but the people rejected the gifts. This, you will agree with me, tells how the people have rejected them.

“The people rejected these gifts in spite of the untold hardship they are passing through even during this holy month of Ramadan.

“As a politician when this happens, you have to take a second look at yourself. Then somebody sits down in Abuja and tells you that the governor has lost people.

“Do you have an idea of how many people gathered when the governor inaugurated chairmen of our development areas on Thursday? The banquet hall could not contain the people, most of them sat outside.

“What the governor is interested in is to ensure that peace reigns in Adamawa State.”

Election 2015 thread: discuss your hope, fears and expectation for 2015 election here

I decided to open this early and desire it to be sticky if permitted so that Nairalanders could become conscious that election 2015 is at the corner (near) and your preparation in choosing the right candidates at any political levels determines the nation's destiny for another 4 years. What is your preparation like, party or candidate of choice for 2015 and why?

oskaaay: It’s Saturday and despite a BUSY week, you’re up early again.

If you know of any other tips that can get our husbands off their seats and helping around the house, please feel free to share!

kodewrita: Pay someone to come in and help out once in a while. You do not have to do it ALL.

A non-live-in housekeeper who comes once a week to wash all laundry and sweep the place would not be a bad idea. if she can run market errands, even better.
Add a dishwasher for the plates and you are good to go.

…rejects proposal to remove fuel subsidy
Condemns Emir of Kano, Sanusi

The Senate yesterday delcared that the alleged $498.bn missiing oil proceeed are intact just as it opposed a fresh proposal to remove fuel subsidy.

The proposal to remove subsidy was made as senators considered the report of the joint Committees on Finance and Banking and Currency, which investigated the alleged missing of $49.8bn from the Federation Account and opposed the recommendation of the committee that fuel subsidy should be removed.

This was also as the lawmakers advised President Goodluck Jonathan to prepare and present to the National Assembly a supplementary budget “to cover the expenditure in the sum of N90.6bn for PMS (premium motor spirit) subsidy 2012 and N685.9bn for kerosene subsidy expended without appropriation by the National Assembly.”

While rejecting the idea of fuel subsidy removal now, the Senate advised the government to instead, ensure adequate punishment for those defrauding the nation under the guise of fuel subsidy claims.

The lawmakers lamented that a number of cases against subsidy fraud seem to have been abandoned in the court.

The former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, had alleged that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, had failed to remit $49.8bn to the Federation Account over a 19-month period
