Techwriter: Jesus said that wisdom is justified by her children. In other words check the end of a concept to justify the mean s in the West where they have more psychologists and research they have more divorce and relationship problems. Those in Nigeria reading those research instead of the Bible end up like them: divorces and heart break. Teach your children the Bible and show them godly living by your lifestyle and you would need bother a little about s3x education
That is true but not all will do that so can we start first from what will still have positive impact on all either you believe in JESUS or not.

WebmastersRe: Lessons To Learn From NAIRALAND Shut Down Over 5days For ALL Nairalanders by oskaaay(op): 10:13am On Jul 01, 2014
Dual Core: There is a difference between mistakes and carelessness. I think putting the word "mistake" in my first post was a wrong choice. A mistake is when you do something you don't know you shouldn't do. Carelessness is when you do something you know you shouldn't do.

This is not a mistake made by Nairaland, it is carelessness.

The most important question is: What should I backup?
Most sites are dynamic today, such dynamism is powered by the database. So a key aspect of your backup should be your database. There is a tendency to think that we will never need a backup so we become careless with the issue. Personally I am too busy to be running backups manually, well thanks to cron jobs.

A simple script can be used to make remote backups of your files and databases. When placed in a cron job, this script can run hourly, daily, weekly without your attending to it. You may choose to have such backups packaged and sent to your mailbox or any other hosting account you have.

The key thing is that there should not be a single point of failure between your main site's location and its backup location.
Put simply, if you have your site in Port Harcourt, put the backup in Sokoto.
is the script what could be given out...if not how may we talk better maybe on whastapp, email, etc. sir.

PoliticsCBN To Commence Nation-wide Cashless Policy On July 1 by oskaaay(op): 5:22am On Jul 01, 2014
The Central Bank of Nigeria has put in place modalities to introduce the cashless policy 30 states of the federation having completed phases 1 and 2 of the policy in six pilot states- Abia, Anambra, Lagos, Ogun, Kano, Rivers- and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The CBN, in a notice by its Corporate Affairs Department to all stakeholders and the general public, said Phase 3 of the policy’s implementation would commence in the remaining 30 States of the Federation on July 1 as scheduled.

The apex bank also said it has mapped out modalities to ensure the cashless policy succeeds in other parts of the state as it did in the pilot states.

The Head, Shared Services at the Central Bank, Mr Chidi Umeano, who was a guest on Channels Television’s daily business programme, Business Morning, said the apex bank is doing all it can to deploy the needed infrastructure to support the policy.

According to him, the one year waiver of charges on withdrawals is one measure to give time for the infrastructure to be put in place.

He says the Central Bank has carried its sensitisation campaign to the rural communities and is still doing more to sensitise Nigerians.

The CEO, Cowry Assets Management Ltd, Mr Johnson Chukwu, who was also a contributor on the programme, said the cashless policy has benefited the economy in so many ways but urged the Central Bank to do more towards putting all that is needed in place to ensure its efficiency and success.

FamilyIs It Appropriate To Integrate Sexual Educ Into Informal Education For Children? by oskaaay(op):
the title although to be "Is it appropriate to integrate sexual education into informal education for children or not?" but due to space.

Going by the rate at which RAPE is rampant in the society all over the world today. I am of the opinion that SEX EDUCATION should become integral part of INFORMAL EDUCATION received by children from parents/guardians to enlighten them from falling prey and reduce the front page disheartening news from newspaper daily, return self-esteem to our children and also build a future without bitterness, resentment and guilt in both parent and children.

sex education picture

It is better thought at home by parent/guardians than through movies, aggressive adult ready to take advantage, nude and pornographic websites that flood the internet today and other unreliable sources that has been a major influence on these kids. I will like every parent to read the professional advice below from Dr. John O’Connor, Ph. D as broadcasted by LoveToKnow (thanksvery much) platform.

Teach Your Children About Sexual Predators
When Dr. John O’Connor, Ph. D. worked as a correction officer and overnight counselor in a prison (he has also been practicing psychology for thirty years), he learned that sexual predators usually don’t act crazy, psychotic, or violent. They blend into society and look like someone’s brother or the next door neighbor.

Sexual Predators Behave a Certain Way
Sexual predators often target children they view as vulnerable, lack self-esteem, are lonely, or are being abused or neglected at home, but any child can be vulnerable.

“Sexual predators are very smart. They know who to target and what to do to take advantage of children,” Dr. O’Connor states. “Also, they all try and establish themselves as a trusted part of that child’s life, to fill an emotional void the child isn’t getting.”

However, Dr. O’Connor reminds us that all children and parents should be aware of warning signs given by a potential predator:

Showing extra attention to a child.
The adult asks to spend time alone with the child that is beyond group-sanctioned activities.
Brings little gifts for the child.
Encourages your children to keep secrets from you.
Touches your children in an inappropriate way, from being overly “chummy” to touching private areas.
Uses threats and intimidation to scare your child into not telling.
Talks about private parts or sex.
Teach Your Children What to Do
Teaching your children the proper behavior they should expect from all adults in their lives helps prevent victimization. Think of this as an extension of teaching them not to run out into oncoming traffic.

Good Touch Versus Bad Touch
Your child should know that there are certain areas on their bodies that adults should not touch. Don’t be afraid to point them out, either on a drawing or a doll, or their own bodies. Teach your child to state that it is not okay to touch them there and leave the room and call a parent.

Have Them Practice the Word NO!
Help your children feel comfortable telling any adult NO! who is not behaving properly.

Teach Your Children to Avoid Situations That Will Make Them Vulnerable
Examples of situations to avoid are: http://informationvilla.com/blog/2014/06/integrate-sexual-education-into-informal-education.html

https://informationvilla.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/sex-education-picture.jpg

With the above article from a professional psychologist , do you now think that is right or appropriate to integrate sexual education into informal education for children or not?

WebmastersLessons To Learn From NAIRALAND Shut Down Over 5days For ALL Nairalanders by oskaaay(op): 4:15pm On Jun 30, 2014
I couldn't hold this anymore but pour out my heart to help my readers worldwide especially Nigerians. To the glory of God am a website designer at Foskaay Enterprises and had pretty good works online like informationvill.com ; careerpingger.com ; kaybaba.com ; revlisimo.com ; shop.revlisimo.org etc. doing fine in their own paste some own by me or designed for others. The reason for this introduction is not to market my skill but to get my readers aware that the writer of this article is not a newbie nor ja-ja-si (dummie) to the website world so you can listen to pick one or two things. In quick list I want to highlights lessons to learn from Nairaland hacks which kept it down for nothing less than 5 days (Dollars missed daily for Seun Osewa and other NairaLanders making it big through the platform).

Lessons:

1. Treat website like business even if you don't earn from it yet or ever!
Although this may not affect Seun Osewa much has he is trying his best but what about you and I. Some of us Nigerians see website has what you design, put it there and forget (no wonder many domain names expires without owner been aware of it. I have some customers like that now) to run itself. If you open a business offline or work in an organization and you don't check-in for weeks am sure you know the implication, that is the same with which a website online operates. It must (not should) be checked often to monitor its states.

2. Do technical checkup for your website as often as possible?

Now, let’s get something here and I quote as posted by stan-ogb on a post about Nairaland resurrection:
"On the other hand, i observed that the hackers that tried to wipe out this forum had successfully wiped their data till about January 11. We pray such thing does not happen again."

Do you know that there is scarcely any successful hacking on a website without attempts? I perceive that seun osewa may have missed this lesson out to give technical check on this forum as often as possible because he would have diagnosed and discover the attempts and even if he can't stop it he would have backup his business outside the host like subscribing to an insurance company in the real offline business world. With that he could have stop or just restore the backup easily if that is what happened oooooo (am not having the fact here).

2.1 How to technically checkup your website?
(i) Check your website activities alert platforms like email often to discover any technical activities behind the scene of your website that you can't know from the frontend. Example. One of my website, I had checked the updates email for a while until just recently I took to it again. surprisingly I found out that hackers have been trying to penetrate but thanks to God and the security measures was strong enough to repel them and they had continue trying (wickedness dies hard) till they had gotten my USERNAME perfectly well and now trying PASSWORD (with that have lost 50% security protection already to such hackers). When I saw it I screamed within and jumped to the backend and did few things you should also do if it happens to you (I created another username and password, transferred all post attached to the former one and finally deleted the user account straight away). If I had over trusted my password and overlook such or didn't even check the email in weeks from then. They may possibly had taken over my website by now and leave me to start clearing their mess when they finally leave.

2.2. Always update outdated tools like template, plugins, widgets, etc. once you get notifications. It may cause vulnerability to your website for hackers.

2.3. Let’s change the mentality of just patronize cheap but baseless designers out there.
For example I got a client in need of an active forum almost equal to Nairaland in features but for an organization. it includes programming that allows people to submit forms aside from signing up the forum, the forms will give out a printable page after successful inputs for registered person to print a copy and the organization will have an interface within to confirm anyone that comes to their office online as a registered member.

With all these I billed the customer sincerely #200,000 with two years hosting (unlimited), security of database, social media and 3 months free service/technical support after installation etc. Guess what my readers....NAIJA stuff naauuuuuhhhhhhh.... One person involved came up and said he has guys (designers so to say) that will get that done for him for MAXIMUM (yes mean highest) of #20,000 (twenty thousand Naira) and could even beat price down to #15,000 that if I can handle it I should stay or forget it. What do you expect from people like me (just a small boy though). I said you are free to go I CAN NOT HANDLE such.
Now tell me which site will fall possibly as the number one hack victim if not for websites with the above features that net the design only #15,000 only with hosting, design programming, security etc. CHAI!!!! Although Foskaay Enterprises is offering web design promo of #15,999 but not for website of that class I noted and closed the chapter with them.
Do you see such scenario? Please be conscious of too cheap to be through website design fees and designers...my humble advice
I am sorry that I will have to stop here for now for a reason that am still a LEARNER and believed that I have experts ahead of me reading this. Forgive me for blunders and unprofessional advice or confrontation to people especially my dear brother (Seun Osewa) but I plead for something please include your own leasons learnt from NairaLand hack and also tell us other website safe (design, security, backup etc.) use TIPS.

Thanks for time well spent with this little boy. I remain

Mad Cow: Impossible to say how true..

But mathematically, it makes no sense as a Married man fends for two as against 1. His house is bigger than that of the Bachelor. However conserves money on food as he eats mostly at home and his social life (clubs and pubs) reduces to Hennessy and Alomo.

But on another hand, a Bachelors lifestyle can be very wasteful especially on things like food (Take-outs), the Vixens, Club (Champagne Campaign) and more.

PoliticsRe: SSS Warned Abuja Malls About Possible Terror Attacks by oskaaay(m): 9:10am On Jun 28, 2014
emk4lif: ABUJA, Nigeria (AP) — Nigeria's intelligence agency said it has been warning shopping complexes in Abuja for two weeks that Islamic extremists might attack them in the capital, where a blast at a mall killed 22 people this week.

The increased security may have prevented even more carnage as witnesses said a security guard stopped a car bomber from entering the mall moments before the massive explosion on Wednesday.

Survivor Donald Chikason told ThisDay newspaper that a security guard argued with the driver of a car who wanted to enter Emab Plaza through the exit gate. When the guard refused, the man bent down and moments later the car exploded, Friday's edition of the newspaper quoted him as saying.

"The man started arguing, behaving as if he was drunk," it quoted him as saying.

Chikason, who works at a bank in the mall, was knocked unconscious by the blast and regained consciousness in the hospital.

The explosion was heard miles (kilometers) away. It set 17 vehicles ablaze and shattered windows throughout the four-story complex.

Body parts lay around the exit gate, other witnesses told The Associated Press. Dozens of wounded survivors were recovering in the hospitals Friday, most suffering burn wounds like Chikason, but at least one victim's leg was amputated, doctors said.

Nigerian intelligence received information that Boko Haram extremists were planning such an attack, said spokeswoman Marilyn Ogar of the Department of State Security.

"About two weeks ago we heard information that they were planning an attack at a busy shopping mall or market ... and so we had to go from one shopping complex to another trying to tell people to be more aware," she told The Associated Press.

Emab Plaza is the biggest and busiest in Abuja, the nation's capital in central Nigeria. The explosion occurred around rush hour as many residents were hurrying to view Nigeria's Super Eagles match against Argentina at the World Cup in Brazil. It was unclear if the bomb was timed to coincide with that, although Boko Haram has bombed several football viewing venues this year, prompting two northeastern states to ban public events to watch the football spectacular.

The state security department did not publish the intelligence about the threat to shopping malls, apparently to avoid a panic. Last week the government warned it had information that Boko Haram planned to hijack petrol tankers in the capital and booby trap them with explosives.

Two separate bombs in Abuja in April killed about 120 people and wounded more than 200 at a busy bus station.

President Goodluck Jonathan returned home Thursday night, cutting short his participation at an African Union summit in Equatorial Guinea.

PoliticsRe: Chibok: I Am Not Uncaring As Portrayed - Jonathan by oskaaay(m): 9:08am On Jun 28, 2014
henroe2k2: President Goodluck Jonathan has reiterated his
determination to bring back the more than 200
Chibok school girls saying that his silence in the
past was to avoid compromising investigations on
the abductions.
In a 514 word opinion piece article published in
yesterday’s edition of the Washington Post,
President Jonathan regretted that his silence on
the issue has been misconstrued by critics as a
sign of weakness as he confessed that as a father,
he was touched by the feelings of the parents of
the abducted girls.
In the article titled “Nothing is more important than
bringing home Nigeria’s missing girls” the
president said that the terrorism in Nigeria is not
unique and that it was in that respect that Nigeria
this month, alongside, Benin, Cameroon, Chad,
Niger, Britain and the United States established an
External Intelligence Response Unit to share
security information on such threats in West Africa.
He added that he would, in September, propose to
the United Nations to establish an international
force to tackle the activities of such terrorists
anywhere there are found.
Saying he was not weak on the issue as portrayed,
Jonathan said:
“I have had to remain quiet about the continuing
efforts by Nigeria’s military, police and
investigators to find the girls kidnapped in April
from the town of Chibok by the terrorist group
Boko Haram. I am deeply concerned, however, that
my silence as we work to accomplish the task at
hand is being misused by partisan critics to
suggest inaction or even weakness.”
“My silence has been necessary to avoid
compromising the details of our investigation. But
let me state this unequivocally: My government
and our security and intelligence services have
spared no resources, have not stopped and will not
stop until the girls are returned home and the
thugs who took them are brought to justice.
On my orders, our forces have aggressively sought
these killers in the forests of northern Borno state,
where they are based. They are fully committed to
defending the integrity of their country.”
“My heart aches for the missing children and their
families. I am a parent myself, and I know how
awfully this must hurt. Nothing is more important
to me than finding and rescuing our girls.”

Christianity EtcRe: Locked Up For Being An Atheist In Nigeria. . . by oskaaay(m): 8:32am On Jun 28, 2014
mazaje: A Nigerian man has been incarcerated in a mental health institution by his family after saying he had lost his belief in God.

Mubarak Bala, 29, is said to have been forcibly medicated for "insanity" for nearly two weeks, despite a doctor's opinion that he has no psychological problems.

Campaigners are calling for his release and say the case highlights the fact that atheists are a persecuted minority in many African countries.

Bala's Twitter account uses the handle "ExMuslim", and his profile says: "Chemical Process Engineer. I stand for Truth&Justice. Religion insults human conscience &reason, duped me that I hav another lifetime. AgnosticAtheist."

He lives in Kano in Nigeria's predominantly Muslim north. The state adopted sharia law in 2000 and has a strict Islamic police force called the Hisbah.

When Bala told his family that he had renounced Islam, they took him to a doctor and asked if he was mentally ill, according to the International Humanist and Ethical Union, which has taken up the case. The doctor gave him a clean bill of health, but the family turned to a second doctor, who said his atheism was a side-effect of a personality change.

The family allegedly told the doctor that he had also made delusional claims that he was a "governor" and other "trivial lies". Bala was subsequently admitted to the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital on 13 June and has since been held there against his will.

AgricultureRe: Hidden Truths About Catfish Business!!! by oskaaay(m): 11:16pm On Jun 27, 2014
robonski15: I had to seek help from other farmers, but every farm I went to I noticed they where all also running at loss.. That was when I decided heading to songhai farms at benin repurblic.. At songhai I learnt all what I was suppose to know concerning fish farming, from how to hatch( spawning) to management, feed formulation and what have u..

I came back full of wisdom and found out what I did and did not do for for the failure of my farm.. First off if you have never started hatching on your own,my brother u have not started yet..so I carefully built my own hatching ponds and with what I learnt I gave it a shot and it was successful, I nurtured them to fingerlings stage and I got over THIRTEEN THOUSAND FINGERLING at my first try..

I selected the best 4000 fingerlings for stocking for the next 5 months and sold the rest.. Dis is one aspect for the failure of fish farmers.. Most hatchery selects the best (shooters)for themselves and sell runts to farmers, And we constantly feed these runts without attaining a reasonable wieght thereby loosing our hard earned money and waste our precious time..
IDENTIFYING RUNTS AS FINGERLINGS

If u still buy fingerlings from other farms please my brother follow the guidelines below so your investment does not go down the drain..

1. Only buy fingerlings from recommended farms, especially those who specialise in the production of fingerlings and juvenile..

2. Runts head seems to be whitish in colour, their body is thinner and is not proportionate in size to the head, they are like unfed children..

3. Buy fingerlings or juveniles only from farms who use male and female fishes (brood stock) equal to or above 1.5kg..

To be continued..

Nairaland GeneralRe: Why Nairaland Was Shut Down by oskaaay(m): 11:03pm On Jun 27, 2014
moski5: I had to find nairaland in Facebook to see if I could follow certain topics I keep tabs on that's when it struck me.

The attack might be perpetrated by Agents of the government who detest freedom of speech n uncontrollable sources of information.

If this is true you will observe 3things
1. Certain accounts will be blocked

2. Certain stories will be deleted

3. Certain stories will be removed and those accounts banned

This measures are not necessary. I have observed Nigerians on Nairaland and they care not for the truth. The most commented topics are entertainment, advice, Business etc not matters of State to push the country forward. And when they do talk about the country its about picking sides and parties for sentimental reasons.
I still believe in this country and I look forward to when Nigerians will put aside tribalism, personal interest and greed and work together, spread truth and build a Nation the world is both afraid of and yet desperately needs

NB. If you post sensitive information online I advice you do so with a mailing address that can't be easily traced to you that's if my theory is true
Welcome my fellow Nairalanders
