cycles

empires rise and fall

egypt was once the center of civilisation

greece was once the center of civilisation

rome was once the center of civilisation

britain was once a superpower

mongolia once ruled a significant portion of the world

america is a declining superpower

we've been there, and we'll get back there - just that it will not be in our generation. who knos maybe the whites of that time will have the same angst
from the direction you can predict the destination. looking at our own nigeria, in 100yrs, we'll be begging haiti for shelter

cold:
When God said 'the heart of man is desperately wicked' he was actually referrin to the black man & to a lesser extent the arabs.
i disagree, he was refering to the arabs and to a lesser extent the white man. the black man has a heart, infact it is his weakness, usually exploited in history by the whites, and in modern times it makes him weak on issues he should be strict. however the black man's biggest enemy is ignorance. and he ignorantly doesnt know it
Foreign AffairsRe: Davidylan Challenges Motivation & Usefulness of 'Relief Efforts' for Haiti by otele(m): 10:29pm On Jan 15, 2010
@david
have a heart. stop seeing these things from the perspective of a failed country. look beyond the failed black nation and see the human faces in tears. if they were ur relatives u'll be livid with rage if the govt doesnt act in 24hrs or even less. stop saying people were impatient. i know how those guys were almost abandoned in new orleans and not only that, in some areas they were even practically locked down. bush was even wrongly accused of being racist when the his subordinates were the ones who failed to act as he directed
Foreign AffairsRe: Davidylan Challenges Motivation & Usefulness of 'Relief Efforts' for Haiti by otele(m): 10:24pm On Jan 15, 2010
@mandigo

nigerian politicians have a double tragedy of ignorance and lack of compassion. ignorance in that they dont know the deep impact of their foolishness on the nation, and lack of compassion b/c they sure wont care if they knew the impact
Foreign AffairsRe: Davidylan Challenges Motivation & Usefulness of 'Relief Efforts' for Haiti by otele(m): 10:20pm On Jan 15, 2010
@yes we can

pls what are u talking about africans must ''release themselves''? are we in chains? apart from chains in our mind? is the west to blame for yaradua's dissappearance? somethings we do in africa is unbelievable, and we cant blame the west. our nationa were designed to fail. ok. what of  hong kong? malaysia, india, brazil etc. these were all colonised and have picked up and in 50yrs will be something else. japan picked up after the war, same germany, italy. look at them now.
africans on the other hand are going backwards. nigeria cant count her citizens or do elections. has no president. uganda, even kanya. tanzania seems satisfied with peaceful mediocrity, congo is . . . . phew, from nile to niger to zambezi to senegal to congo to lake victoria the story is the same, the only part of africa that seems to have life is the little bit the whiteman did in south africa b4 handing over to blacks

i wonder. honestly
Foreign AffairsRe: Davidylan Challenges Motivation & Usefulness of 'Relief Efforts' for Haiti by otele(m): 10:06pm On Jan 15, 2010
it's a shame that white people built south africa, dropped apartheid, gave black man freedom, only for black man to be president and now south africa is going down.
Foreign AffairsRe: Davidylan Challenges Motivation & Usefulness of 'Relief Efforts' for Haiti by otele(m): 10:05pm On Jan 15, 2010
i have wondered what is wrong with our people. we rather fight over each other than develop each other. i understand the history of blacks as a people but that really doesnt explain the degradation especially as i know that as at the mid 20th century s.korea,japan malaysia etc were nothing. these countries are building, we are going backwards at great speed. .

look at nigeria . . pathetic. huge joke. for the first time in my life i'm ashamed of my country. i have defended nigeria at every opportunity. but how can u defend a country without a president

come to think of it, haiti shares a small island with domrep, and domrep is apparently far better than haiti, and yet when earthquake decided to attack, it chose hapless haiti . . . na wa o
Foreign AffairsRe: Davidylan Challenges Motivation & Usefulness of 'Relief Efforts' for Haiti by otele(m): 9:55pm On Jan 15, 2010
re:davidylan challenges the motivation and usefulness of relief effort to haiti

motivation: feel good by donors
usefulness: temporary partial relief at best, inadequate dependency at worst

however, the kids in the hospitals now looking for help wont care if the help getting to them is for ''feel good'' purposes. haiti has been feeding on clay for a long time and nobody cared, well some people cared too(if not for feel good). but we should leave this argument for now and help however we can. our help is not good enough, nor genuine enough, but it is better than nothing. if i were one of those hapless dudes there, i wont mind who is giving the help

PoliticsRe: Why Cant Nigeria Be Like Norway by otele(m): 7:11pm On Dec 31, 2009
the UK has a higher population density than nigeria. yet it is an organised country. nigeria's population or population density is no excuse for the mediocrity found therein.

nigeria is not as crammed as india. yet india is moving forward.
PoliticsRe: Nigerian Man Attempts To Detonate Explosive On Delta Flight In US by otele(m): 6:48pm On Dec 26, 2009
@beaf
unwittingly u are agreeing with me. having a bad image is not just bc of one hoodlum in detroit. ghana is putting thier country in order and getting respect from the world. even if the hoodlum is from ghana it wont generate anti ghana rhetorics or poor image for ghana. but bc we have a choatic nation, a luaghing stock at world stage, every little thing adds up to make us have poor image and no amt of dora akunyili speeches can change that.

but let's leave the image thing for now, this guy and guys like him should not exist in this planet.
PoliticsRe: Nigerian Man Attempts To Detonate Explosive On Delta Flight In US by otele(m): 6:35pm On Dec 26, 2009
why is everyone's concern here all about nigeria's image? did you guys really believe that the US did not know about islamic extremist in northern nigeria all these yrs? perhaps the average american may not know, but the CIA does, the state department does, they warn thier people steadily of northern islamic extremists in nigeria.

however, this is not and should not be about nigeria's image. it is about the human mind. how a young man of 23 with such privileges as this fool, can give it all up to kill. . . . . hmmmn

nigeria's image should not be dependent on this goat, after all, I5 of the I9 terrorists on 9-II were from saudi arabia. is the image of saudi arabia damaged before america? No. they still respect each other. we saw US president bow b4 saudi king. Nigeria's image is damaged by stuff like poverty, fake democracy, comatose president/lack of president, corrupt looters/lawmakers/lawbreakers who bring the looted money to US/UK/EU . . these are the stuff and not some wing nuts who want to kill other people

wash a pig, dress a pig, a pig is a pig. these fools hate the west so much, yet they go to western schools. are there no good schools in saudi arabia? huh?  the fool chose london for education, yet he decided to forego his privileged education for wahabism.

his fathers money wont save him from the FBI. fool. he probably thinks that america is nigeria where he can do something and get away with it even if he is caught. he's dead meat.

why did he wait for the plane to get to america b4 attempting his despicable act? perhaps he had hopes of escaping with his life, i know nigerians dont like to die, not for freedom and definitely not for allah(or whatever his name is) this goat could have blown up the plane in the middle of the ocean where there will be no hope of survival. he waited till detroit, hopefully to escape, or survive and use connection to get away with it. james bond. fool. he's a gonner.

@abu safwan & negro ntns & ikomi

islam=violence. truth has no association with political correctness. these islamic fascists are simply obeying their god. the koran asked them to do what they are doing. that is why when they do it, the so called moderate muslims findit hard to condemn their acts as we can see clearly in this thread and similar threads. some have even gona as far as almost blaming the victims and making the killers look like victims.

you know why? the koran in an evil book.

http://www.answering-islam.org/Quran/Themes/jihad_passages.html

truth . . . . everyone knows it but nobody wants to say it.

i rest my case cool

afam
if an armed robber steals £2m from u, u are unhappy and try to adjust to life and move on, but if u see ur friend who has only £0.5m living large on it, u realise what u could have achieved with ur stolen £2m and u get really upset. perhaps that is why nigerians abroad feel that way b/c we have seen what our country should have been.

I had the privilege(if u can call it a privilege) of being born and bred in britain, but I also had the privilege(real privilege) of coming home for xmas every yr for the first 20yrs of my life(thanx to Dad for that) I got used to seeing nigeria as poor and undeveloped until i became an adult and my Dad told me, unbelievably, that sometime ago, one naira= one pound. and nigerians never needed visas to go to UK, that we had it all and britons wanted to come and live in our land.

then did i realise why he was always upset with news from home. he has lived in both worlds in different generations. same thing is happening to lots of diasporan nigerians.
