easier said than done. why didnt you guys remain in nigeria to ''patronise'' africanism why didnt some people go to nigerian schools why should i patronise somebody just b/c he is african when his product/service is bullsh-t listen, we must do our groundwork first. let the nigerian enterpreneur get his acts right. trust me, patronage would never be a problem. have u been to a nigerian store in the UK/US compared to a ghanian store? this argument is like dolly akunyili improving nigeria's image/patriotism without doing the homework of improving govt responsibility. in africa, change cannot come from bottom-up, but from top-bottom. we have a culture of docility spaning centuries and it is virtually in our DNA. only a revolution can change this status but i dont advocate for that now. change and responsibility must come from top to bottom. it will be gradual in nigeria, but it will come. |

remember joe biden's warning about an international test for Obama within 6 months? remember hillary clinton's 3.am phone call? remember Obama's bitter-guns-religion speech? all have come to pass pirates and north korea have tested Obama in less than 6 months Obama got a middle of the night phone call while he was in europe and we see sore looser, very biter loosers and a spiral in gun ownership and use(via killings) and false claim of religion by people who dont even give a damn about God. . . . . . how prophetic campaign 08 has come to be |
republicans tea part baggers tayo loosers . . . .sore loosers . . . . . ![]() |
Tayo-D:i cant believe this tayo of a guy said this. mr tayo, you mean you have not seen obama's birth certificate? even from the UK i have seen it on tv time and again when there were rumours about it. you think the republicans will sit by and watch him at the white house if they truly believed he is not supposed to be there? look at the minnesota senate race, that is what the republicans can do to stop somebody. how much more someone born outside the US. na wow for you o. just like the talk about his religion b4 the election. hannity and co will say almost anything to make people believe this guy is a muslim, only he wont say it himself . . |
before nigeria can make progress some things have to be put in place a) there must be patriotism. people must be prepared to be nigerians. not just igbos, yorubas, etc but nigerians. b) there must be true democracy, periodic free and fair elections. c) there must be sound national planning, starting from national census. e) sound education for all, at least to high school level. then other developments would follow suit. by my calculations, these cannot happen in the next 200yrs. so my best advice to the average nigeria, find a way and get out. but pls when u get to europe, try to behave. not being pessimistic, just objective. |
e notice ri m na ndi yoruba hate ri ndi igbo. maka gini ? ![]() |
any pastor who has bodyguards leaves us with only one conclusion: he has no faith in divine security. kaput. weather na pope o, or archbishop of canterbury, or whoever, no faith in God's ability to secure. for goodness sake, these guys preach about God using 300 men in Gideon's army to defeat tens of thousands of midianite military. it means they dont believe in what they preach. period. agaba my brother, you made some honest points about catholic pastors, but let me tell you this, Jesus never used his disciples as bodyguards. they were overzealous and wanted to control everything about jesus. they were not some sort of bodyguards. and who did peter chop off his ear? a slave of the captors. lol. thats not how body guards act. bodyguards put their own life in the line, but my man peter chose to attack a lowly slave he was just overzealous and wanted to show it. the previous night he had boasted that he will never abandon christ. ![]() pastor wey buy gun, or get bodyguard, or whatever is just not appropriate. full stop. a pastor may have people to control who comes to see them as in being organised in managing their time, but not ''akpubis'' for security. |

i was born in london, but i speak igbo well. very well, as a child we go the the village every xmas. i watch nigerian movies and read nigerian novels. and even though my mum is not nigerian, she adopted a nigerian name . . amaka. i use my nigerian name in school, all my sibblings do. we speak igbo in my family(except my mum who understands but cant speak) anyone who cant be proud of his identity is pityful |
what i hate most in nigeria culture is a situation where poor people ''worship'' the rich. sycophancy. this is brought into politics and terribly weakens our so called democracy. hence, anybody who looses election tries to enter the good books of the winner instead of forming a credible opposition |
names mean a lot in igbo culture never mind my user name . my grandpa used to teach me a lot of those when i was much younger. he used to give me books by chinua achebe to read and understand the igbo society better |
i believe the igbo culture values both genders. we value men because the are so important in the society for strength, protection, family name etc. hence the names ikenna, ahanna, obinna etc, were manufactured by our ancestors also we value females so much for their productivity, family upbringing, beauty, softness, and of course strength too. that is why our ancestors manufactured the name nneka . . you cant beat that name inour culture , adaobi, adanna, ezinne etc. and we value women so much that we dont want them to suffer, hence our forefathers manufactured the name obiageli, adaure etc we value both genders, we even created names that can be used for both genders such as uche, nkem etc . if an igbo man has 4 kids, all boys, most likely he'll wish for a girl, and vice versa ![]() |
