I believe religion is holding sway amongst Africans and Blacks at large because it appeals to the very rudimentary component of a Black man , and that is GREED , the selfishness and greed of the black man has always been inbue from time immemorial when our fore fathers and ancestors built gods and demigods ,sanctum of worship with ornaments and gems they hold dear to their hearts, pray to them to bless the works of their hands, keep them in health, make them affluent and punish their neighbour (whom they are not in terms with), caring less how the larger society faired . Presently religion has come in another shape, however being practised in same manner by our contemporary generation, the shrines are no longer needed (of course they are archaic), instead churches and mosque are there , you walk in Pray and shout, for you to be blessed and prosper while that your neighbbour you do not like can die in penury and starvation for all you care, your society can suffer and evaporate into oblivion for all you care (as long as it doesn't affect you) ; this is the very false believe and lies we fail to understand ....
And this is the very rudimentary problem of Africans and blacks en large, the greed, egocentric, and selfishness is unparalleled ,reason why we never get it right... We cannot have a thriving Lagos while Port Harcourt suffers; we cannot have a thriving you, while the larger nation suffers , It just doesn't work that way. We are one nation, we are one people, United we stand and divided we fall...
From all the commandments in the law, the one Jesus Christ Told us is most important is LOVE (your God and your neighbour math 22:36-40) ... little wonder why western nations are lite years ahead, that Love for their society and neighbbour is written all over them, in acts and actions , selfless service to better their lots, the reverse is the case in our own society the result of which is evident for all to see...

My brothers and friends, I appeal to all, Love the God you worship , and also Love your society and neighbbour in similar way, donot restrict yyour good work to yyour church, your soceity needs it more , work selflessly for its good,
Are you a government worker , please Go to work , do not allow that sacred duty suffer and leave bribes
Are you a trader, please do not liter the roads and streets, it is for our own good and use.
Are you a security personel, do what u meant to do, and do not cut corners , oppress and brutalised your compatriots to feel superior... wanting to extort them for your selfish gain
Are you a Nigerian, the understanding that "government property no be my papa own" is faulty and depraved of course it is ur father's, do not manhandle or vandalise them, it will come back to hunt u as u or ur children might need them tomorrow....

That's how you display the love for your neighbbour and society the bible talked about, that's the only way we can get better as a nation., the only way we can get better as a people...

1. JOHN LENNON(Singer):
Some years ago, during his interview with an American Magazine, he said:

2. TANCREDO NEVES(President of Brazil ):
During the Presidential campaign, he said if he got 500,000 votes from his party, not even God would remove him from Presidency.
Sure he got the votes, but he got sick a day before his inauguration as President and he died.
3. CAZUZA (Bi-sexual Brazilian composer, singer and poet):
During A show in Canecio (Rio de Janeiro), while smoking his cigarette, he puffed out some smoke into the air and said: “God, that's for you”.
He died at the age of 32 of lung cancer, in a horrible manner.
4. THE TITANIC:
A reporter asked the man who built the Titanic how safe the Titanic would be. With an ironic tone he said: “Not even God can sink the Titanic”.
The result: I think you all know what happened to the Titanic.
5. MARILYN MONROE (Actress):
She was visited by Billy Graham during a presentation of a show.
He said the Spirit of God had sent him to preach to her.
After hearing what the Preacher had to say, she said: “I don't need your Jesus”. A week later, she was found dead in her apartment.
6. BON SCOTT (Singer):
The ex-vocalist of the AC/DC. On one of his 1979 songs he sang: “Don't stop me; I'm going down all the way, down the highway to hell”. On the 19th of February 1980, Bon Scott was found dead, he had been choked by his own vomit.
7. CAMPINAS (IN 2005):
In Campinas , Brazil, a group of drunk friends, went to pick up a friend. The mother accompanied her to the car and was so worried about the drunkenness of her friends. She said to her daughter holding her hand, who was already seated in the car, “My Daughter, Go With God And May He Protect You”.
She responded: “Only If He (God) Travels In The Trunk, 'Cause Inside Here, It's Already Full”.
Hours later, news came that they had been involved in a fatal accident; everyone had died.
The car was mangled beyond recognition, but surprisingly, the trunk was intact. The police said there was no way the trunk could have remained intact.
To their amazement, inside the trunk was a crate of eggs, none was broken.
8. CHRISTINE HEWITT (Jamaican Journalist and entertainer):

. If you haven't given your heart to Christ, another opportunity has presented itself. It has nothing to do with being a member of a Church or even a Church worker; it's all about getting to know Him PERSONALLY. The truth is, most 'PASTORS' do not even know Him -quite shameful. CHURCH MEMBERSHIP DOESN'T MAKE YOU A CHRISTIAN; A CONSCIOUS WALK WITH CHRIST IS CHRISTIANITY.
. It's simple: ask Him to forgive your sins, and come into your heart to be your Lord and Saviour; and then begin to live for Him.
Your eternity depends on this sole decision.
