ceaser: Probably when they were first caught, they were striped na.ked and beaten. When you remove your trousers in haste, it usually gets turned inside out. So when the police waded in, they needed to have them dressed up and even had to wear back the trousers amidst heavy slaps and kicks from the policemen. Hence no time to get their trousers rightly before putting it on. Right! Now i get it, nigerian police system SMH.you see? Over here it does not matter what ever the crime police have no Right i mean NO Right to speak to no one any how let alone beat them up. That police will lose their job that day. |

doskie: ROUND-TABLE discussion in the boardroom of a prominent Dublin accountancy firm has become a battle of wits for one man, who has spent the past 20 minutes of the crucial meeting debating with himself as to whether or not he should take a few bickies from the massive plate in the middle of the table. Eamon Coyle, 27, has been employed at McKinnion & Farrell Accountants for less than a year, and was invited to attend a meeting to discuss new business terms with potential new clients. Although prepared to take part in any discussions that involved him, Coyle has become sidetracked by a plate of snacks laid out for the meeting, and is currently incapable of focusing on anything else. The junior account manager has become locked in an internal debate about biscuit-etiquette, and is unsure as to when he should make a lunge for a chocolate digestive, if at all. “Are they for the members of McK & F, or just the bigwigs from the other crowd,” mused Coyle, who isn’t hungry, but just fancies a bickie. “I mean there’s a plate of them just sitting there, waiting to be taken. Should I just go for it? Nobody else has taken one, maybe I shouldn’t be the first to get stuck in. “I hope nobody asks me anything, I haven’t been listening to a word anyone said” he concluded. And the morale of your story is? If i may ask? |

I don't get, how did they come to the conclusion of what's Appropriate and what is n't? If we are supposed to emulate Jesus Christ. Did Christ wear suits, ties and trousers? What they wore in them days we are made to believe was Robes. Men and women wore Robes in the days of Christ Now who Determines what christians should wear to church nawadays? Humans (pastors, Imams or catholic priest?) Or God?
i thought the scripture says God only sees inside your heart not what you wear to church.and that God wants every one to come as they are and not to be a hyporcrite.
Lastly, what or who Determines which dressings (to church) are indecent and decent? I believe church is just a building. |

Ioannes: I'm happy you said that they may be going about their agitation the wrong way. that is my point.
the government can't fold it's arm and watch people destroying shops of innocent traders and trucks and businesses just because they are agitating for something.
as long as there is still one Nigeria, the government has a duty to protect innocent citizens from harm and insecurity, whether they reside in the North, South, East or West. and we all know how hoodlums will use the opportunity to loot and rape and burn. so the crack down is in order.
How many times did Scotland protest on the streets before they were granted a referendum which by the way didn't favor those who wanted to split from the U.K.
The Nigerian government CAN NOT "offer" referendum as you have suggested because the referendum clause isn't present nor supported in our constitution, so, not only would be the federal government be breaking the law by offering that, but the president will be guilty of treason as he swore to defend the integrity of the country and it's unity. He would definitely be impeached and jailed.
What the agitators can do is to ask their senators to lobby their colleagues in the National Assembly to push a bill to include a referendum act in the constitution.
I don't know if that will work since it will still need the assent of the President. So, they may also need to lobby the president by a high powered delegation.
We know this won't happen because they hate the president and they also hate the Westerners and Northerners who make up the bulk of the National Assembly. Now i have understood the whole brouhaha! Better that's if you are Right with your assertions Above. In that case Agitation will be far from taking place perharps even never. Cracking down on them i Agree is necerssary (for the protection of nigerian citizens) but murdering or shooting at them while protesting i do not support. In the case of their leaders lobbying for them, they would argue that their leaders can not be trusted. As i ve asserted if you are Right then it may never happen. Its been fascinating having this Educative conversation with you unlike most commentors on here who would Rather insults or resorts in making Derogatory remarks instead of reasoning and contributing constructively with their Arguments. If i may, personally what side are you on or what side would you rather be on? Would you be on the side of Agitators (if done Appropriately) or on the side of nigeria regardless?. And do you believe the situation of the nigeria at present economicly and otherwise is worst, will get worst (as most nigerians claims) or better or do believe that things are fine the way it is in nigeria? |

Krucifax: That's a good 12 years past. I live in Abbey Wood in a 3bedhouse about 10mins walk from Plumstead High Street. That £650 you were paying won't even get you a studio flat now. Mortgages were easy then but now you need upwards of £60,000 for the cheapest deposits. It's not like one doesn't know what to do its the ability to do it that's difficult.
A younger me used to laugh at people who were in council properties as not smart but an older me now understands that they were actually smarter than me. I'm in private sector rent but would grab public sector housing if I can find it. Absolutely! Years back i remember paying £120 for a one bedroom house a week in chingford east london now its £300 a week for 1 bedroom in the same area, i am thinking of moving out of london esspecially now i have got children, not too crowded schools, Not too congested, clean air, lots of Green space, Good NHS hospital. And oh! Don't be too quick to envy those in council flats in london they are not safe Mr cameron is hell bent on making their rents difficult to pay hence they may be moving ultimately. Soon london will be like New york were only the wealthy lives. |

Why una like punishment for dat London.
We were paying 650 in 2004 for a 2bedroom house in Plumstead. We jeje carried our bags and bought a a 3bedhouse with 580 mortgage. And life is gud. it's nothing to do with punishment. It's about jobs there are not alot of jobs outside london, anyway i am ready to move out of london jobs or no jobs as i can not afford to live here anymore. Krucifax: I'm jealous of all my Naija peeps the majority of rent prices except for Abuja and parts of Lagos are quite good. Although when you factor in salary sizes it's not so good.
My rent in London excluding council tax is £1400 per month x 12 months = £16,800 per year. In Naira @ N420 = £1 means my own rent is over 7 Million Naira per year. Bear in mind I live in a normal middle class area. If I lived in central London you will have to multiple this by at least 4 times. boy! It's ridiculous my landlord just put up rent from the usual £1000 to £1300 i am looking to move out of london as i could not afford to pay,and believe it or not it will get worst the sooner i move out of london the better. Less congestion, clean air and lots of space outside london expecially if you have children no drug dealing gangs.Good schools and NHS hospitals. |
