EducationNuga Games Oau Update(must Read) by Otunbalarry(op): 8:51am On Dec 19, 2013
The P.R.O of OAU has said Jan 8 2014 is still a tentative and speculative date for holding of NUGA games,as the school management has to consider the calender of other schools, and has to put the students into consideration.
He also hinted that students may not be sent on vacation during NUGA games as every student will want to watch the games,he said OAU has enough facility to accomodate athletes and students.
He noted that the real date will be communicated to all students.

CultureThe Traditional Culture Of Greeting In Nigeria by Otunbalarry(op): 9:03am On Dec 03, 2013
Greeting in Nigeria is an important aspect of 'our culture'.Different ethnic groups have different ways of greeting and we also greet in different languages.
For example in yorubaland,we greet by saying 'EKARO MA/SIR' bt some ethnic groups in yorubaland dont greet this way. Some of us even have different experiences in the aspect of being accused of disrespect because we refuse to postrate,or greet in other traditional ways, this has even caused life long problems for some people, this thread is created to educate us on greeting culture and a medium in which we can share experiences that relates to greeting. Also vocational jobs have different greeting ways like in yorubaland when hair is being done we greet the person that wants to make hair by saying 'EKU EWA O' how do they greet people that engage themselves in vocational jobs in your town or ethnic group?lets educate, entertain ourselves and share experiences...what do u have to share on traditional greetings mode, share it here...Let the fun and education begin

EducationRe: Re-opening Of Varsities: OAU Students Desert Campus, Lecturers Show Up by Otunbalarry: 3:03pm On Dec 02, 2013
richybanky: Ile-Ife – Students of Obafemi Awolowo University
(OAU), Ile-Ife, in Osun State, on Monday failed to
resume for academic activities despite the Federal
Government directive for immediate reopening of all
federal universities in the country.
A visit to the institution, shows that none of the
students were seen on campus for possible
commencement of academic activities as directed by
the Government.
Mr Abiodun Olarenwaju, the Public Relations Officer of
the institution, confirmed that not a single student was
on campus ”for any reason whatsoever”.
He said that the few lecturers on campus were around
”for reasons other than academic activities.
‘’Sincerely, none of our students show up on campus as
of today, but some of the lecturers are around, although
they are not coming for any academic activity, they
always come around for other reasons.
‘’You know our lecturers have not totally deserted the
campus like that, many of them still come around to do
one or two things in their offices, but no teaching and
learning activities.’’
Meanwhile, one of the commercial motorcyclists
operating within the campus environment, Mr Muraiona
Abiola, said that most of their members were suffering
due to low patronage since the commencement of the
ASUU strike in July.
According to him, the usual heavy patronage by the
students has decline since the commencement of the
strike, which forced the students to leave the campus
abruptly.
Abiola, therefore, called for early resolution of the
issues between ASUU and the Federal Government to
enable the commercial motorcyclists bounce back to
business.(NAN)

tunex23: ASUU beta not call off the strike, if not the purpose of the strike has been defeated, If truely the FG has d student @ heart they should sign the agreement and release the 100Billion, ASUU knows FG will not pay that money, it very obvious. That idiot Wike coming on Air 2 rant that they wil sack all the lecturers is really a big joke! That can never happen and it com to show that ASUU were right, FG are the one playin politics here.
are you a student?and why are you being sentimental?please, state facts to back-up your points and dont just comment anyaw, though you have the right to your opinion, but don't be selfish! ASUU has lost pubic sympathy and remember anybody who fights his/her employer must have another job ready, bkos sack is dfinitely looming, you can't bite the hand dat feeds you and still want that same hand to feed u! Enough is enough!

Judging from the chairman's view, I still think ASUU has been compromised. They should just come out that they are fighting the government and stop using students for cover up. Greedy people
am unhappy bkos if our dear lecturers can be so insensitive, what does the future hold for us?
