Hasty generalization is one the biggest problem we have as Nigerians and Africans. Different Strokes for different folks they say.
You know 1 or 2 peeps having difficulty in getting jobs in Germany, suddenly there is no job in Germany?
Because a professor told you something, it suddenly became general?

What you read online about Germany in need of "skilled workers" is very true but misinterpreted by many. Germany's economy and population is fine as it is But th e population is not growing as fast as the economy and studies have shown that Germans are not ready to increase child birth thus, the economy will become unsustainable in 20 years time if something is not done along the way. Germany need is not an "immediate" one rather a gradual, steady and systematic one. The high rate of refugee acceptance is a testimony to this.

Many things have been said about school ratings but I will like to share one of the conclusions from the wealth of Heterodox Economist latest research about inequality and standard of living: comparing Germany and US "one of the main Reasons why inequality is lower and standard of living is higher in Germany is that it does not matter which university you send your child to because Education in Germany is publicly financed while you have to buy it with private funds in the US to send your child to the best. Middle and low income earners in Germany do not have to compete with the high income earners to give their children quality education and have social mobility". As far as I know what is important in this part of the world is your grade at the end of the day, whether in uni or unioas, always strife to be the best.

Working and studying it's all about knowing yourself and time management. Working doesn't mean you be the worst in your class and not working doesn't mean you will be the best in your class. I worked during my 1st semester and am still an above average student in my class meanwhile I have other Nigerian students in my class who said they want to concentrate and settle down in there 1st semester 1st and end up failing 1 or 2 courses. €8040 is a lot of money but check your account balance after your 1st 6 months that will tell you your next line of action. As for people like me who no get anyone to send dem dine naija, working and studying is not easy but possible. Know yourself, settle in fast and manage your time well.

Blonde or black girls... hmmmm it's a big one. I will say it also depends on what you want but from my part of the country na Cameroonians full here and they will never ever follow you, na white wey go give dem paper den de find up and down. Also, most black girls will never split the bills with you on a date, abeg you won de spend ur block money on babe and u no de work? Even if u de work, na on top babe u won de spend ur hard earn money? Be wise.

Moral of the post - share your experiences but let's desist from generalization, say things the way you Experience it and the way they are.

well said my brother. say what u experienced and let others learn, do not generalise.

hey guys, i wish everyone successful application to study in Germany.it has been long since i came online on this platform because i have been busy with school stuffs. As you all know,Germany has a vibrant economy with good education standard and cost of living here is cheaper than most developed countries. But, It's important to clarify an impression which we always find online about Germany(e.g Germany needs engineers,IT experts, blah blah blah ) all these are not really true, a professor said it to my face. As far as i know, so many African guys i know are still searching for jobs which is quite frustrating for them, even getting an opportunity for internship needs fasting and prayer. pardon me, i have to be frank with you guys about it not because i want to demotivate you but to tell you the truth so that your mind can be prepared for the challenges ahead.
The most interesting side is if you're coming to study medicine you have a wide opportunity to get a job after your study cos they are in great need of doctors. the education here is standard there is no doubt about it and free tuition but after your studies the chances of getting a good offer from one of there big firms is really low that is a bitter truth, there are various challenges you must face in the Germany labour force like ( Language: Fluent German which can take you approximately 1 year if you are fast. National Character EU Commision law, you will be consider after Germany Nationals, EU nationals, Eastern European before the African and the rest of other Developing Nations, you can as well relocate to an English speaking countries like Canada, New Zealand, USA or Australia if getting a job is seems difficult.
Lastly, i will advice you guys to consider Luebeck (it's a city in state of Schleswig Holstein) your last option for an admission, it is quite difficult to get a student job with no german knowledge. Good luck guys, we shall all get there

Great. Brother. Those that are looking for blonde una Don hear abi. Make una Facebook oooooooooo Facebook please. Lol

Well done everyone, i started following this thread the very beginning of 40 pages of German thread 1 that was when I was in 100L. Since then I've been interested in learning the language, sign language, music for children (recorder, trumpet, keyboard), as well programming language. All these just to prepare me ahead. Though I still have a couple of years to be actively commenting on this thread, but before then I think I can be of help with little materials I have with me here. If you are in ogun state, abeokuta precisely, you can prompt me for audio German tutors worth 3.5gig. When I started with memrise and dualingo I thought the apps was enough for me not until I started using the audio files then I realised I was far no where to comprehend the speed during conversations.
For people far away, you can download the files on torrent sites, the file names are michel Thomas and pimsleur. Wishing you all the best. Tschüss

please can u send me a link to that file. i have sent u a pm

you need your sevis number, which is usually on your i20 to be able to complete your ds160 form and for appointment. If your school can send you those information. Then you're good

I need help

I had applied for a visa some months ago and even rescheduled my appointment due to my admission deferment from fall 2015 to winter 2016. my problem is that I failed to complete the online DS-160 form before my application and when required during my application, I used my visa receipt number. now, I had done the right thing in completing the online DS-160 firm and now has the real confirmation code. what do I do?
how do I change the confirmation number?
am I in trouble?
will this affect my interview?
please I need help am losing my mind.

thanks

Just email them and explain to them. They will help you change it.

There is no confusion in the message, Summer is the period of the year between late March to September, in actual weather calendar, Spring start in march and Summer start proper in June while Winter start in late September to February, but in actual wheather, Autumn start in late September while winter start in December.
Summer applications start in October and end in February, academic activities start in April for summer term, Winter application start in January and end in June, lectures start in October for winter term.

Summer application and admissions is just starting, it was winter admission that has ended. Use Google, Wikipedia or www.daad.de and search for summer courses.

first, thank you for your mail and your interest shown towards our university.

The application process for summerterm 2015 is closed. The next application process for the Aviation Management Bachelor program will be summerterm of 2016 (only summerterms).
You cannot apply for it yet, because the requirements might change and also because of closed portal. So please contact me again (schaefer@hs-worms.de) in the end of October or view our website to seek information regarding the new application round.

that was the email that was sent to me. now i am confused ooo

I don't understand you, they have Goethe's institute in Lagos where you can study German language, the embassy may not grant you a visa to go to Germany to learn German since you have a place you can learn it in Nigeria, for admission letter, you will get it if you apply but embassy will not grant you language learning visa. Are you going for Msc or Bsc. If you just finish secondary school, you can apply for student college, with that you can study German and enter university.

thanks guy i am really happy you are with me on this, this truth i will not have the time to go to lagos to learn their language i prefer learn it there. well i already have a Bsc but brother i dont mind having another Bsc.

I THINK I MIGHT WANT TO GO WITH THE STUDENT COLLEGE THING, PLEASE HOW DO I GO ABOUT THAT PLEASE. COS I WANT TO START A NEW CAREER ALL TOGETHER
