Great analysis. This is what many southerners do not understand, their time is not 2023, they have ruled this nation more than their fair share.

2000-08 was ruled by the SW
2008-10* the NW
2010-2015 the SS
2015-Present the NW

As anyone can see, the North only has had 8 years thus far, while the south has been in power for 15 years and still wants more. This is the definition of greed. The North is not deceived.

Anyone in favor of justice, equity and zoning should solidly be behind the NC as the NC has had neither the President nor the VP. We will accept a NE candidate as it seems the PDP will zone the ticket to the NE, but APC should also zone the ticket to the NC and allow these zones to taste power. Instead, the south wants to greedily take every position even though they have been in power the most leaving the North to rot...

Enough is enough. We will meet them at the polls...

Lies won't help your cause, the president of southern origin have ruled for just over 13 years while those from the north will hold power for almost 11 years by 2023

Which also has provisions for its ammendment, which you guys don't want to use because it is too too hard.

Because most of you guys don't care really. Like how many Nigerians know that they can fight for changes to their constitution? And those who know aren't interested.

Under which 1) many minorities were complaining of marginalization 2) didn't allow for creation of states which most Nigerians then and now want. 3) did not solve Nigeria's economic problem, which is resource dependency, and if we had kept it, our population would have outgrown our resources eventually, as is happening now , and we would still have been broke d) did not solve the issues of election rigging, and corruption(Nzeogwu's ten per-centers), and tribalism, and religionist tendencies e) did not allow for secession in any form f) did not allow for productivity of the regions. We were just sharing money, noting like industrialization or exporting industrial goods, just exporting raw materials and importing and over importing, which the small educated population benefited from more than the majority, which is why many of them think those days were the good old days..they weren't most people were still poor, and anyway, almost half still went to government g) did not solve things like raising revenues from taxes.g) did not solve political violence, and may have even indirectly laid the foundation for the 1966 coup and the civil war.

Seriously, 1963 is not 2022. Nigeria was a different nation then.

Then do the hard work of democracy. Run for office, fight for amendments, etc etc.

Amerika that most of you love to praise...their perfect constitution once referred to black people as 'three fifths of a person' and did not allow women or most males to vote. That they have rights now is because people did the hard work for those rights.

Youre very right, Nigerians like knee jerk solutions, difficult and complicated routes that are almost like wild unachievable dreams. Now they are clamouring for 1963 constitution that led us to political crisis civil war within 4 years.

We don't like following any laid down process, we do prefer using hammer to smash everything and end up creating fresh intractable problems.

The same people clamouring for amendment have never asked aspirants for Senate or House of reps their position on burning constitutional issue. They've never meet their reps at constituency office or town hall meetings.

They just make noise in the media to burnish their personal profile.

Politics / Re: FGN Rakes In N8.6trn From FIRS, Customs In 2021 by Ovamboland(m): 12:42pm On Jan 10, 2022
BrandSpurNG:

The federal government of Nigeria (FGN) has taken-in the sum of N8.6trn as taxes for the year 2021.

A data released by the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) disclosed that both agencies generated N2.2 trillion and N6.4 trillion respectively.

The Executive Chairman, FIRS, Muhammad Nami, gave the figure in Abuja at a public presentation and breakdown of highlights of the 2022 Appropriation Act.

“We collected more than 70 per cent of the target set for 2021 with the help of technology and I assure Nigeria that we will do better in 2022. “The figures will be fully published soon.’’ said Nami.

The NCS said the N2.2 trillion it generated at the end of 2021, surpassed the target of N1.6trn it set for the year.

Similarly, a statement by the Service Public Relations Officer, Comptroller Joseph O. Attah yesterday, showed that the amount generated was a 43 per cent increase of the N1.5trn generated in 2020.

Attah also disclosed that the service’s efforts to prevent the entry of items that could compromise the security of citizens, economy and the well-being of the people resulted in the seizures of 5,096 assorted items with a duty paid value of N13.7billion and 160 suspects at different levels of investigation or prosecution.

The Comptroller-General of Customs, Col. Hameed Ibrahim Ali (Rtd) attributed the feat to “resolute pursuit of what is right and willingness to adapt to changes brought about by global health challenges occasioned by covid-19.”

He expressed delight that the service revenue generation profile had continued to be on the rise annually.

SOURCE:https://brandspurng.com/2022/01/08/fgn-rakes-in-n8-6trn-from-firs-customs/

It revenue from FIRS alone is over 8 trillion apart from another 2.2 trillion from customs, amongst others, why is the false infirmation gaining traction that we use 90% of our revenue to service loans?
Our loan service is about 3 trillion abd that appears like less than 30% of our total revenue.

So, in 2021 government reintroduced VAT on imported LPG and requested importers to pay the tax on imports going back 3 years, yes cargo that has since been sold. So importers are now gradually trying to offset the outstanding VAT, with the attendant cost transferred to buyers. So the 7.5% VAT importers are paying at the moment is effectively much more than that and is being transferred to Nigerians. You probably never heard of this thats why you argued that removal of the VAT would not change the price much.
On the lighter side, i wonder what you make of that fellows argument of 'manufacturing' LPG?

Back collection story of VAT story is completely false. The VAT was not due on the previous years and they cant ask for it.
It only becomes applicable from last year.

The VAT on imports is meant to encourage local producers to invest and enlarge their capacity but I know Covid impacted a number of projects negatively, I know because I was involved in one the Chinese workers could not come back in January 2020 due to lockdiwn in China

Tell me, how well are Nigerians that aren't in leadership doing in improving the country?

You didn't have to mention GEJ in your remarks for me to reference him.

Nigeria's problems are societal. Buhari is not Nigeria's problems. Every one has contributed one way or another. Buhari didn't stop his predecessors from fixing our electricity and other key Infrastructures.

Leaders emerge from societies and not societies from leaders.

I do not expect your kind to appreciate this. We hardly have respect for knowledge and people who bear them.

In Northern Nigeria, knowledge is much valued... little wonder, despite widespread Southern denigration of the North, in respect to their inferior educational accomplishments, they continue to maintain vantage and strategic leadership positions in the country.

I maintain, this has nothing to do with whether a leader is recycled or brand new. Nation building is onerous, ongoing and collective. How much is the individual Nigerian doing? That is what really counts.

As long as the South is combined with the North, no party apart from APC and PDP has a chance.
The Northerners are the bigger factor. They decide the election.
That's why we must break up for real development to happen.

Thats why any serious small party should focus their energy on ward, LG and legislative districts first and prove their mettle or show a different path. Then they can grow from there.

But they will abuse anyone talking of reality, they prefer operating on sentiments and wild dreams.

NIgeria is yet to have ideological parties.

PDP and APC are only soap boxes ..full of career politcians who we wrongly call leaders.

Republicans and Democrats are idelologies not just parties.

I would not even say ADP is that ideological...but my point is that if APC or PDP offer even Jesus Christ a platform to contest it will be at a great price such that we the masses will not get one tenth of what they promised

Republican and Democratic party have evolved over the decades and did not start as ideological parties.
If fact they used to be same party called Democratic-Republican before they split and they ran against the Whig party etc.

They have both moved from extreme spectrum to the other. The Democratic party uses to be the southern party that was racist and blacks would never touch, while Republican was Lincoln party that freed black slaves.
But it was Democratic party that pushed for civil rights and sent Marines to enforce it.

Now Republican party is seen as party of white supremacists and seen as racist. 85% of black voters wont vote Republican candidates.

One day SS and SE might be the greatest promoters if APC, that's the nature of party politics.

Parties ideology grows organically, and can change from one extreme of the spectrum to the other.
APC is mere 8 years old. Entire experiment is 22 years old

To be honest I would vote this man...

I can see some posts saying that; The man looted, The man is from the east, it's not time for the east yet blah, blah... All these posts make it very clear that "Most Nigerians", have an obvious problem. Due to collective hatred and flimsy sentiments based on religion or ethnic arrangement, "Most Nigerians" now lack common sense.

In Civic education, sound democracy is made up of two elements; (Leaders and Followers), apparently "Most Nigerian's" are so focused on the ills of Leadership, that the ills of followership is overlooked. Why can't followers use Common Sense to vote in a leader in Nigeria?? (and that's the main reason Buhari did a second term). It's obvious to see that Nigeria needs a fresh leader, however "Most Nigerians" will deliberately still vote for one of these old Cargo's again to come and keep repeating this cycle of Leadership and then expect a monkey to suddenly develop wings... that's what is sooo frustrating.

Even if this man looted, or even if he is from the "East-Middle-Eastern-East", even if the east have not reached their turn etc... If a Presidential Candidate like this shows up alongside the regular Old Cargo's can't most people use common sense anymore?

Just imagine a situation where there is Atiku, Tinubu and this man running and people deliberately vote for Tinubu or Atiku... cant you already see that first of all the voters already have a problem??

I remember once asking someone "Give me a solid reason why Tinubu should be president?" and his response was "Because he is the Jagaban"... Just imagine shocked... To think that this the reason of "Most Nigerians", outright gives me chills.

How can people be voting for mere sentiment in these critical times that call for urgent restructuring...

Have people actually listened to this man's blueprint for Nigeria before? or what they rather listen to is ethnic placement, timing or partisan representation?

Regardless of anything, in a population of 200Million if more than 100Million people agree to vote with common sense, won't the direction of Nigeria change from - to + ??

To be honest I am sick and tired of Nigerian's voting based on political parties, or because of religious sentiment, ethnic sentiment...

I am actually appealing to the common sense of "Most Nigerians" to vote for an actual person that is not the usual fixture.

The man does'nt have to be perfect, he just needs to present the best option... and this guy clearly has it comparing him to the "usual old cargo's"

If you don't know how to mine popular sentiments to create a transformative leadership class and insist on changing everyone's mindset to forget race, ethnic origin and religious affiliations first, before you ascend power, then you've already failed from the get go.

That's why USA did not elect an Indian, Chinese, African or even Irish for over 200 years after founding.

Moghalu is just clowning with this approach as it won't gain traction with 98% of voting population. If he's not smart enough to know how to reach and ride on the sentiment of voters he's just wasting his time.

This approach may not deliver his local government to him as candidate not to talk of his state or Nigeria.

Now that CBN 'no longer manipulates it', is forex readily available, and has foreign reserves grown reasonable more than in the past? Are you saying there is no forex scarcity today or what? I still maintain that government can still do something to make LPG more affordable to Nigerians, if the mean it. Its not totally out of there hands.

Govt cannot create forex if we don't earn it via increased export of goods and services. Or alternatively reduce imports if items we can easily produce at home

I see you have nothing to say about the exchange rate adjustments I mentioned by the government which badly impacted on the price of domestic LPG

Lets stop harping on semantics, that's not the subject of discussion.

One thing govt can do is introduce another form of subsidy or withdraw VAT in imported LPG, 7.5% which won't reverse the 200% price increase and will discourage local investment in LPG production.
