Bunmiemich: @DahonestBoss, another question pls, on my IELTS application form, I am stating only two insitutions out of the 5 available that they'll send my test result to, my question is this, after my result is out, can I send my test result to more universities or I'll av to pay for them to send it to the other universities I want?

After you get your IELTS certificate, you are required to send a photocopy to each school you will be applying from.

This are some of the mistake most visa applicant do. If you are intelligent enough to post in nairaland, you should be able to go to UK immigration website to get legitimate info concerning visitors visa. Besides, you did not answer if your finger print was given wen you applied for UK visa 3 years ago. be advised that you can't work, study or even register a marriage with a visiting visa, don't let anyone deceive you. A word is enough for the wise
Travel / Re: Greetings To Good Nigerians by overloved(m): 11:39am On Aug 21, 2012
When you applied with a Cameroonian passport, was your finger print taken? if yes, sorry, you would be denied and blacklisted. And if your brother is a UK citizen, he should be able to tell you how things works in the UK. You can't work, study or do anything in the UK. Its strictly for visiting only. Its even written on the visa for any employer to see.

1 corinthians chapter 6:19-20 says;

19. What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

20. For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

the world has been so westernized. people are trying to synchronize the teaching of the bible with the way of the man. teaching doctrines that differs from what the bible says.

To answer your question, the way a christian dress REALLY matters.

Culture / Re: Is Marriage Still Important In Modern Society/Culture? I Dont Think So. by overloved(m): 8:50pm On Jul 20, 2012
Marriage in an important institution in everyone's life. marriage bring happiness, Indefinite Joy, growth etc. you always feel loved and belonging in the long run. There are times in one's life when you would need the other half, and if you meet the right person, you would see the value of marriage. Marriage also produced well cultured kids and society, it promote the culture of sacredness in marriage.

the western world has turn everything around and people do whatever suits them but it still boils down to the individuals to whatever type of marriages institution that suits them. many type of marriages now exist like prenuptial agreement, common-law marriages, civil partnership etc, but these are all the institution that was created by man for their own conveniences and depending on your religion, they might be against it, but you are responsible for your happiness.

divorce rate in most westernized countries are getting higher every year, and they are now appearing as a threat to the young ones who are coming in to marriage with the fear of getting divorced just like the others or being bored to death just as the poster has admitted, but you really need to know yourself, know what you really want and work to achieving it.

Raising kids outside marriage institution may have a negative impact on the child, and posses as a risk to their upbringing, depending on the family case, it might also relegate their esteem and individuality, and might curse social pain and trauma when there is no one to run to during time of stress and trouble in their young age. when making a decision not to get married, taking into consideration of the spouse choices should be known before hand. appearing to be like a potential spouse while the main intention is not what it seems is bad, and also the kids affairs should be taking into considerations too.

Taking a decision not to get marry will be very hard in a country like Nigeria, where religious practice are carried out everywhere. An average Nigerian will not like to stay with you in a marriage-like institution waiting for you to get bored and tired of them before you finally dump them for someone else.

majority of the comment here are constructed from a sentimental point of view and feelings/pity for the woman being abandoned, but that should not exclude the fact that there are legal ways of doing things.

I pity the woman condition too, but fairness has never being a friend to human, and its a thing that people must learn to live with. people divorce for various reason and majority of the people who divorce ends up with another spouse, which is likely the same in these case, so why does it appear like a big deal? if a party is not interested in the marriage anymore, then he/she should file for a divorce. abi na only young people de divorce? women also divorce their husband too, so this case should not appear to be like the man is wicked and inhuman in attitude.

your first reply was really helpful, including the bible passage, but your second reply to ptolomeus deals with sciences and blood issues that concern medicine and health, i dont think it give answers to questions which i seek, no offence intended please, and be aware that if i study it and have any further question, i would refer it to this thread and i hope you answer them.

you know, it is only a foolish person that always say ''YES'' to everything he his told, and that is what religion is all about, all these created doubt in someones mind and there are some questions that you might ask, and it would be like you are asking what is bigger than your brain, and that some things are beyond man and should not be known as far christianity is concerns, this are the kind of answers that i have always get form people who cant answer my question, or probably to a satisfactory manner.
Religion / Religious Issue And Confusion, Please Read This!!! by overloved(m): 5:37pm On Jul 03, 2012
Hello Nairalanders

I am a Nigerian in my early 20’s, I am an undergraduate student studying in Europe, and since I was born, I grew up in a home where Christianity is practiced to the fullest, My parents are devoted Christian, and they have tried their best to make sure we their offspring goes the same way too and yes, I am a Christian and I’m proud of it. But as times goes by, I begin to mix up with people from different countries in my class, see different people always from different cultural background and believes, and I start to think if the reason why there are so many religion out there are for real.

Issues concerning Religion have been making me to think deeply these days; there are many kind of religion in the world today like Christianity, Muslims, Hinduism, agnostic, free-thinkers, etc. and also the atheist that don’t believe that there is any supreme being(God). I have been thinking about issues like;

1. Which religion is the true one?
2. If the reason why there are many religion are valid (if there is God),
3. If there is life after death, and many other issues beyond my comprehension.

Christianity believe in God, Muslim believes in Mohammed, atheist do not believe in God, while many religion or practice has their own genuine reasons why they are into it, but how can someone identify if he is doing the right thing? I have entered into argument concerning Christianity with atheist and people of other religion, and they tends to defend their religion or belief so well with facts that cannot be beaten (at least by me), even many of my classmate don’t have religion or any belief, and it’s so hard to convinced them concerning the reason why they should believe in God.

Majority of the people accept religion based on the kind of family that they grew up in, I know for sure that I am a Christian because I am brought up in a Christian home, while many of my friends that are Muslim, etc are into it based on the kind of family or society that they grew up in, In that case, are we all going to say or think that there is only One God but we are worshipping him in different ways? Or they are more than one God? Or there is no God at all, and everything about religion is just a waste of time? I believe that there is only one true God and nothing more. Scientist brings out research every day that strengthens the fact most atheist use against religion when I try to convince them about Christianity, I entered a discussion with a young girl one day, and she was saying that there is no God, that ‘’if there is God, why can’t he just come down and show himself to everyone? That it’s not a hard thing for him to do’’, she also said that ‘’she sees no reason to believe in a book written by men who claim that they are inspired by God to write it and if there is God, why is there Bible, Quran and other religious books? Also, One God cannot write Quran, Bible, and other religious book’’

After the discussion with her and many other one that I got into, I always think about these issues seriously and the point that they have made because I have no satisfactory answer to them. Coming to reality, many people suffer in Nigeria, with a believe that it would be fine one day, and majority of them never live the life of which they dreamt of after constant prayers and worship towards their beliefs, and I asked myself, God is a caring God for sure, but why will he see all this people live in poverty and lack all what they want without his intervention? Will God be alive and watch boko haram bomb his children without intervention?

I am asking these because I need to know what I do not know, I have asked my parents and some other people so many times concerning these, but they all give me an unsatisfied answer while some would say that I should not think of it or bother myself about it, but I don’t think that is the best thing to do. I really need to know what I believe in and if its for real. I am not trying to say that I don’t believe in God anymore, but I think I am deceiving myself if I have all these questions in mind unanswered which leads to distraction in building a stronger faith towards God

Constructive advice are needed here, because it would save someone life or believe at least for me in making heaven.

Travel / Re: Canada Freezes Federal Skilled Worker Program by overloved(m): 6:40pm On Jul 02, 2012
mickjagger: Canada is a country with no jobs for new immigrants, regardless of however suitably qualified they are, young or senior. Even the simple blue-collar jobs are hard to find. But most of the immigrants are highly educated in their respective fields. They have migrated to Canada with the hope of being able to land at least something close to their white-collar professions left behind.

Following at least six months to two years of frantic job searching, the new immigrants (doctors, engineers, professors, bankers, business executives) are forced to take up ordinary low-paid jobs as factory workers, security guards, waiters or in supermarkets, call centres or convenience stores, which lead to their low morale and low self-esteem. Even such works — to the detriment of both health and mind — are sometimes hard to find. This is really heartbreaking as it is demoralizing at the same time leaving them in a state of despair and despondency.

Canada remains depressing for new immigrants especially for the educated. Until recognition is given to them by creating ample opportunities for jobs it would remain so — a shattered dream.

so does having a decent job guarantee a good life to you? regardless of the political and well functional infrastructures?

tunnytox:

Look dude with all due respect you're not making any sense with your post above, Nigeria is a banana republic where anything goes and for those of us abroad if some of us go back home today we'll still be given priority above Nigerians living in Nigeria in terms of jobs or political apppointment. This is not about bragging as I have nothing to gain from braging of any form, for instance please tell us if you know anything that someone like John Fashanu ever contributed to Nigeria, now he has made so much money in Nigeria than he probably ever made in his footballing career. Nigeria is a country where government don't give a damn about whether you die or exists, as long as they can see something to gain by associating themselves with you Nigerian political elites will wine and dine with you but care less about an average Nigerian who is yearning to feel the presence of a government.

As for posters saying home is the best, it depends on what is home to you, to some people home is where they are born while to some people home is where they are loved and welcomed.

confirm jare, God bless you.

although people always say that there is no place like home, but my own definition of home is where i am very comfortable and have access to all the social amenities that I want. I live in the scandinavia, and a lot of people seems to talk well and big about canada of which is really true, but I have couple of canadian friends that left canada to finland and also, finnish friends that hate their country so much and wonder what an immigrant would be doing here, who eventually left to other countries too, but It depends on personality. Nigeria government are so heartless, that i sometime think if they dont know that they are not going to live forever to spend all what they have acquired, the level and rate at which they embezzle money is beyond imagination, i feel so bad seeing how other western countries has so much developed themselves and their society, that you wonder if Nigeria can still CATCH UP, but I know its not impossible.

@factbox, i really dont understand your stand, or which country you are actually trying to defend, but through your post, you are talking in favour of Nigeria and now i'm wondering what you are doing in Canada. And i a very sure that after your studies, you would immigrate through the economic class programme to a permanent resident.

Nigeria is not a place to be if you want to develop yourself and have a better future for your families if you are still a young man, and unfortunately, the unborn kids will grow up in these system and become more corrupt than the previous ones and makes me wonder where the change and transformation of nigeria would come from. the one thing that pain me the most about Nigeria is the absence of a reliable social security system or a population register that register all citizens immediately they are born and store records of everyone data like offense, job, marital status, address and so on (or will I say we are too poor or not develop to have it?)a person that committed crime some years ago can still contest for election and so on, a foreigner can come in and claim his passport due to its absence, its so bad. some of the crime committed abroad are done by other people and not even nigerians, but for the fact that they have the ability to get the passport make the shame goes to the country.

may God help Nigeria, Amen

Culture / Groom Who Lost Visiting Family Members In The Dana Crash Weds, WAS IT WRONG? by overloved(m): 11:16pm On Jun 10, 2012
Maimuna Anyene died with her four children (Kamsi, 2, twins Kayna and Kayne 1, and Kamal, 7 months), her husband, mother and other relatives in last Sunday’s Dana crash, while heading to Lagos to attend her younger brother (Ndako Mijindadi)’s wedding, which was scheduled to hold yesterday June 9th. Maimuna lived in the US, and was in Nigeria with her kids specifically to see her husband who lived mostly in Nigeria and to attend her brother’s wedding. But they all died in the ill fated flight.

Ndako Mijindadi, Maimuna‘s younger brother went ahead with his wedding despite losing Maimuna and eight other family members in that crash. The wedding held yesterday at the Incubator, Victoria Island.

Ndako is now being heavily criticized for going ahead with the wedding, especially considering the dead are yet to be buried. Was he wrong to go ahead with it?

I also get firsthand advice on different matters which is very nice.
