A young woman has become Britain's first blind and Black barrister, in an achievement that has been described as 'truly remarkable.

23-year-old Jessikah Inaba qualified last week after studying for five years at a university in London. She completed her entire course using Braille and also credits her friends as well as her tutors for helping to fill in the gaps.

Jess is completely blind and had to use Braille throughout her time at the University of Law - London Bloomsbury. She started her accelerated law degree in September 2017 before starting a master's two years later alongside a professional training course.

Braille can be read on a special screen that usually gives one line at a time, or from specially printed books. She said it took seven months for her university to obtain one of her two key study texts so she could read on her computer, and five months for the other.

And, because of pictures and tables in the books, her Braille screen missed huge chunks of material, she said.

She says she got through most of her studies by making her own Braille materials from her lecture notes, or from friends reading books to her.

On her achievement, Jess told Mirror UK: 'It's been crazy - I still can't really believe I've done it. One day I'll wake up and realise how amazing this is.

'It was hard and I often thought of giving up, but my supportive family gave me courage and strength.

'I always believed in myself from the start - there's nothing about me which means this isn't possible.

'I know I can do this job really well, and the more people like me who go through training the easier it will become.

'It's a really good feeling, I know I'm giving hope to others in similar situations to mine. There's a triple-glazed glass ceiling.

At a well attended inauguration of the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council in Abuja on Friday, I spoke extensively on the importance of campaign funding and the need for collaboration with stakeholders, particularly the candidates of the party at various levels.

I also emphasised that our presidential candidate alone cannot fund the election as he is known to be someone who did not engage in the gluttonic acquisition of our common patrimony in his days as a public servant.

However, the news making the round that I said that Labour Party is broke 24 hours to our campaign was reported out of context, hence the need to put the records straight.

What I said is that presidential election is very expensive and the presidential candidate alone will not be able to shoulder all the expenses and that we will therefore be needing collaboration from all candidates of the party and all well-meaning Nigerians.

The Nigerian media have been very wonderful and have being playing key role in the efforts by Nigerians to win back our country again. It is therefore commendable how they have partnered with the Labour Party on this task of voting out the fraudulent political circle that have undermined the people and mortgaged their destiny. We sincerely salute your courage.

Finally, I like to reiterate that Labour Party is not broke. We are not broke. We only need support from stakeholders to be able to embark on the nationwide campaign, to be able to tell Nigerians how we will return Nigeria to its place of pride.

In his first-ever interview since he regained freedom, Olajide Kareem, commonly called Seun Egbegbe, has said the police unjustly jailed him for six years for an offence he never committed.

The Lagos socialite, known for his lavish lifestyle, finally regained his freedom after spending five years and six months in prison.

He was incarcerated on 10 February 2017, while his trial officially began on 10 May 2017, with over 30 BDC operators storming the court to testify against him.

The police said that he fraudulently obtained money from fewer than 40 Bureau De Change operators in Lagos from 2015 to 2017.

Mr Kareem, who became famous over his love affair with a Nollywood actress, Toyin Abraham, a few years ago, was said to have been abandoned by his colleagues and protégés during his travail.

In an interview with BBC, Mr Kareem described his incarceration as a blessing in disguise as his prison experience helped him identify his enemies disguised as friends around him.

He said: “Those I thought were my friends before I had that issue, I found out were my enemies after I returned from prison. None of my explanations will be acceptable to some people, and they will keep saying it’s a lie because there are too many enemies around me, but I thank God for life.

A lady from Ghana has confessed to having an affair with her personal driver who is now the father of her kids. Troubled by her actions, the lady took to Confessions on TV3 Ghana to share the story of how she got pregnant twice for her driver.
