Religion / The Lord Is My Shepherd by owanguy(m): 1:27pm On Apr 08, 2023
THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD

Let me share a story with you that my Father told us. Many years ago, there was a Man who became so goodly popular because his greeting was: ‘The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want’.
Each time he passes, people will hail, the Lord is my Shepherd, he will answer: I shall not want. This became the daily thing morning and evening among the villagers. He was a fisherman.

He was a happy man who enjoyed his fishing work and appreciated God for being his Shepherd.

His popularity grew that the king 👑 saw him as a threat. The king felt that the man was becoming more known and popular than him. This man has got no royal ring in his finger, nor the crown on his head, never nor sat on the royal throne. He was a village fisherman who has a greeting among the people: the Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want.
The village was preparing for the celebration of one of the festivals. The furious king and his cabinet decided to honour the man on the D-day with the ‘Greek offer’. They planned to bring him down to see if the Lord whom he claims is his shepherd will save him.

You have become so popular with your profession as a fisherman. You have contributed so much to the growth and happiness of the people who chorus your greetings morning and night. The king said, "we want to honour you on the Day of the village celebration in the full view of all."
Furthermore, we wish you to do us a Favour. The ring of the king will be given to you to keep, so that on that faithful day, you may present to the king as the custodian of the king’s royal ring and the title will be given to you. The man, while smiling, accepted and said, "The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want."

*_“Fear the Greek even when they bring gifts”._*

Oh good God, he never knew they were seeing him as an enemy. Though he never saw them as enemies.

He kept the King’s ring in the full view of his wife, who shared in his ‘goodly’ popularity. Evening came, and morning came, few weeks to go. The same people came back to the house to greet the family but just to find out if he had gone to the river side for his occupation.
Immediately, they realized his absence. They lured the wife to steal the ring from where the husband kept it for a bogus pay. The woman screamed and shouted in anger. She refused to do their wish against the husband. They insisted with appeal and gifts, and she collected the bogus pay and betrayed the husband, whose Lord is the Shepherd.

*_As a young man in my junior secondary school days, I once asked my Father, how come those who hurt people are those close to them? He said it is because we share most of our secrets with them._*

The man and the wife on the evening that the ring was given to him spent almost the late hours contemplating the honor done them and at the end before lying to sleep decided by the votes of two of them to keep the ring where it has now been stolen by the wife.

The wife never told him the people visited. They continued living as a family. Morning and evening, the villagers chorused the greeting: The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want he would response.
Fours market days to the D-day, envoys from the king’s palace came and reminded him. He was not perturbed at all because he knew where he kept it and that the Lord is his Shepherd. Two days to go, he decided to get prepared for the celebration. He brought out small box 📦 where they kept the ring, it was empty—he shouted, the Lord is my Shepherd; at this the wife ran to the room thinking he was in trouble due to the tune he used.

Yes, there is trouble. The king’s ring is missing. Oh dear, the wife searched vigorously and thoroughly with the husband as if she were not aware of the missing ring. (Dum tufu, dum cho-means:someone that hid my item is helping me to search for it).
Sleep eluded the good man, and his heart shook like the big 🌲 tree being tossed by a strong wind. His mind travelled to places and across eventful memories faster than the rays of light. The hotness that greeted his head gave a dent of burnt on his pillow. His legs shook like a child learning to stand for the first time. The clapping 👏 of his teeth resounds more than the gong of a town cryier. The man became weak and weary.

In all of this, he would always say, the Lord is my shepherd, and I shall not want— though now on a low tune.

If the story ends here, have you got the message?
We said——nooo Papa.
That morning, the village woke up to the day of their festivities, they will see their popular man being honored for his good personality; the king and his cabinet preparing to execute a man who placed his truth in God his shepherd; the wife has now become the enemy of her love—husband. The man woke up and went to do his last 🎣 fishing.

*How does one’s life end just because he is doing the right thing? Sometimes, you may not do anything wrong before people see you as a threat. Most of the time, your gift, talent, resilience, charisma, your age, position, attitude make them angry but you don’t know._* Sometimes, it is even better not to know since the Lord is your Shepherd. Such ignorance gives bliss oooo.
Due to lack of sleep the previous night, his fishing that morning was not successful. He caught just one 🐟 fish. As he walked home, people hailed him as usual, he answered, but his voice was low. They wondered what has happened to their hero who actually does not need any honour, for greater is the honour given by nature through the people.

He couldn’t even sell the fish and wouldn’t allow the wife to prepare the meal either. He had said, "Let me eat my last meal and prepare for the consequences of the missing ring and wrath of my enemies."

He sets to cut the 🐠 fish, slicing it into different pieces. As did that, his knife 🔪 hit something, and the noise was loud, for it sounded koooiiii. He became so much interested, he sliced and sliced and low and behold, he discovered the king’s ring in the belly of the fish. Hahahahahaha. (Am just smiling and crying at this point of the story and ✍️ writing)

*_He wanted to shout the Lor…., he decided to say it in his heart. He stated whistling until he finished eating. He took the ring and placed it inside the inner pocket of his trousers behind the pocket located at his right thigh._*

It was time for the occasion, he went with the beautiful wife. The people were cheering 📣 for the occasion. It was colourful. It was his time to present the king’s ring with procession, since at the end of such procession, he would be honoured.

Immediately, they called his name, the people leapt for joy, they shouted: the Lord is my shepherd, he responded with gusto, I shall not want. Those standing by who knew the evil plot said to one another, look at him who ought to burry his hand in anguish since he would be dying in a few hours.
The Lord is my shepherd. Present the king’s ring and receive your honour. Gbagam gengen. His wife was ashamed of her actions, the palace was ready to descend on him, and the people were cheering.

He dipped his two fingers into the inner pocket, and lo and behold presented the king’s ring, and there was both jubilation and confusion at the same time. What happened? As they wondered, he screamed, "THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD, the people chorused, I SHALL NOT WANT."

Was he honoured by the king that day? That will be another story. (As at the time of the writing of this piece, the king and his cabinet were still in that confusion).

What happened? How? Why? This was their confusion.

*_NOW THIS IS IT: When they took the ring from the wife, they went straight to the river and threw it far far in._* The same God who is our Shepherd, He who sustains the universe and directs the movement of the cosmic powers and controls the elements and creatures of nature commanded a FISH to swallow the ring. That was the ONLY FISH, the man caught on the morning he was to die.
You see that the Lord is my Shepherd, and I shall not want. His life was spared by the same God who is his Shepherd. The integrity of the man’s trust in God gives greater honour to God through the people whom he inspires and inspired to praise God as the SHEPHERD.

If you can remember, as kids growing up, we learnt and crammed Psalm 23:The Lord is my Shepherd and John 3:16: For God so love the World… for on them lied the story of our Salvation in and through Jesus Christ.

As you go out this week/month as a Nigerian, remember the story of the man who trusted in God and got rescued from the grip of powerful men and women who felt they have won with human skills.

God, who is our Shepherd, is always aware. He is with us.

Health / Three Benefits Of Cigarettes by owanguy(m): 8:11pm On Apr 07, 2023
*THREE BENEFITS OF CIGARETTES*

1. Smokers don't grow old!

2. Smokers cannot be bitten by a dog!!

3. Smokers cannot be attacked by thieves while sleeping.

WHY NOT?

1. Smokers don't grow old because they will die young due to lung damage, as warned by the Ministry of Health.

2. Smokers won't be bitten by a dog simply because when their lungs are damaged they have to walk with a stick every time. And dogs fear people with a stick in their hands.

3. Thieves can't break into the house of a smoker at night because smokers are always awake coughing!

*Do not let your hands contribute to your own destruction....* You are most correct to teach this everywhere.
Family / 49yrs Old Woman Slumps As Court Dissolves Her 21 Years Maage Over Childlessness by owanguy(m): 7:49pm On Apr 07, 2023
49 YRS OLD WOMAN SLUMPS AS COURT DISSOLVES HER 21 YR OLD MARRIAGE OVER CHILDLESSNESS

“A 49 year-old woman slumps as Court dissolves her 21-year-old marriage over childlessness.

The both parties agreed to dissolve their marriage and the wife asked the court to grant her husband prayer of divorce. In view of this, the Court has no other choice than to grant the petitioner’s prayer for divorce. The marriage is hereby dissolved. The petitioner has waved the N25,000 bride price he paid. Hence the respondent has no need to return it”. The Court held.

“The man said to the court, “I have just 9 years to retire from civil service. I don’t have any child. I am exhausted in this marriage. I have tried my best to have at least child from my wife but all attempts have failed. Separate us, my Lord. The petitioner had earlier told the Court.

On her part, the woman told the Court that she had prayed and visited doctors but no child.

“My Lord, I have gone to different places and taken different concoctions, all to no avail. I had told my husband to go out and impregnate any young girl and allow me to still remain his wife but he still insisted on divorce. Where do I go at my age ”she said and slumped.”

Family / The Story Of Sarah Baartman ( Viewers Discretion) by owanguy(m): 10:09pm On Jan 11, 2023
The story of Sarah Baartman of South Africa who had an unusual long backside.

Sarah Baartman, also known as Saartjie Baartman, was a Khosa woman who was born in South Africa in the late 1789. She is famous for being exhibited as a freak show attraction in Europe in the early 18th century because of her large buttocks, which were considered unusual and exotic at the time.

Baartman was born in the Gamtoos Valley, in what is now the Eastern Cape province of South Africa. She was a member of the Khoikhoi, a group of indigenous people who lived in the region. As a young woman, Baartman was taken from her home by a British ship's doctor, William Dunlop, who promised her work as a servant in Cape Town. However, instead of being employed as a servant, Baartman was taken to England and exhibited as a sideshow attraction under the name "Hottentot Venus."

Baartman's large buttocks and elongated labia were considered unusual and exotic, and she was put on display in London and Paris, where people paid to gawk at her. She was also made to perform various tricks, such as dancing and singing, for the entertainment of spectators. Baartman was treated poorly during this time and was not paid for her performances.

Baartman died of siphilys in 1815 at the age of 26. She was sexually assaulted multiple times and her captors paid in exchange to experience ssehura also know by stage name The Hottentot venus , and her remains were dissected and put on display in a museum in Paris. In 2002, the South African government successfully campaigned for the return of Baartman's remains to South Africa, and she was finally laid to rest in 2002.

Baartman's story is a tragic one and serves as a reminder of the exploitation and mistreatment of people of color throughout history may she rest in eternal peace.

Sports / Chelsea Respect Science by owanguy(m): 2:50pm On Jan 10, 2023
Chelsea is the only Football Club that respects Science no matter what.

‼️10 points away from Relegation and 10 points away from the Top 4... In Chemistry it's called Equilibrium Constant.

‼️ Jumped from 7th to 8th to 9th and to 10th without missing any number.... In Mathematics it's Called Arithmetic Progression.

‼️ Isaac Newton told us in Physics that everything in the Universe remains in the same state without moving unless they are acted upon by an External Force but Chelsea broke that Theory by moving from 8th to 9th without playing a game....

‼️My only advice I have for Chelsea is that they should Sign Brentford manager Thomas Frank.... He Won Tottenham, Manchester United, Manchester City and draw with Chelsea.... exactly what Potter did before Chelsea signed him....

‼️ Funny enough his name is Thomas Frank which is a Combination of the first name of Chelsea last 2 Coach that was Sacked.
Thomas Tuchel and Frank Lampard.

Family / Woman Who Unknowingly Married Her Brother Finds Out After Having Four Kids By Na by owanguy(m): 6:12pm On May 22, 2022
A woman simply known as Domitila says she got married to her brother without knowing they’re related because she never had an idea about his existence.

The lady who spoke with Afrimax, revealed that her parents abandoned them when they were kids so they all got separated while searching for a means of survival since there was no one to look after them.

Domitila and her brother never grew up together, so neither of them knew of the other, however, fate had other plans for them.

She said that it was when she traveled to the city in search of job that she met her sibling and fell in love with him not knowing who he was.

She bore four children after they got married, however, it was discovered by people who were able to trace their family roots that they were related by blood and were born of the same parents. Following the abominable deed, the community ostracised Domitila.

Due to the shame it brought her, Domitila left the marriage and took her four children to live alone in a mud house until an NGO bought her a new house. This brought some joy to her heart

Statutory Delegates Lament Loss of Largesse, Elected Delegates Now to Pick Presidential Candidates
May 21, 2022 7:00 am

*2,322 electors for APC, 810 for PDP

*Power returns to governors

*New electoral amendment now out of time

With clear signs that President Muhammadu Buhari has no plan whatsoever to sign the amendment to Section 84(cool of Electoral Act 2022 sent to him by the National Assembly last week, the statutory delegates pushed out by the Act have turned out to be the biggest losers in the intense political game.

Section 84(cool recognizes only democratically elected delegates, stating, “A political party that adopts the system of indirect primaries for the choice of its candidate shall clearly outline in its constitution and rules the procedure for the democratic election of delegates to vote at the convention, congress or meeting.”

The Senate and the House of Representatives had last week passed the amendment to the Act to recognise statutory delegates as voters during primaries, congresses and conventions of all the political parties.

With the president hesitant to sign the amendment, it means only National delegates elected at the local government congresses will determine Presidential flagbearers of the party.

Likewise, only the five delegates elected from each ward for the state congresses will vote to elect governors, senators, House of Representatives and states’ House of Assembly members for the APC. For PDP, it will be the three delegates elected from each ward.

So, statutory delegates, including elected councillors, local government chairmen and their deputies, party chairmen in local government areas, state and federal lawmakers (current and former), governors and their deputies, President and Vice- President, National Working Committee members, state party chairmen and secretaries, are no longer voters at the primaries.

The largesse they had been enjoying from all the aspirants at various levels seeking their votes – presidential, governorship, Senate, House of Representatives and states’ House of Assembly – has come to an end.

Many are struggling to face the reality and hoping that the President will still sign the amendment by next Monday.

But analysts countered this, saying, “With the seven-day INEC rule for parties to submit their list of delegates before primary elections, new election amendment is now out of time, even if it gets presidential endorsement.”

A source told THISDAY last night that the APC had already submitted its list of elected delegates to INEC, while the PDP had partially complied, to beat the seven-day deadline.

The PDP has scheduled its presidential primary for May 28 and 29, while the APC will elect its presidential candidate on May 28 and 29.

As things stand, the APC will elect its presidential flagbearer with 2322 democratically elected delegates, based on three National delegates per local government area.

The PDP will elect its presidential flagbearer with 810 delegates based on one National delegate per local government area and one each per state to cover the physically challenged.

Power to determine those that will emerge as candidates for various elective positions has now returned to the state governors; already, they determined those on the list of elected delegates sent to INEC.

So, the state governors are back in business.

Family / How To Build A Good Family Relationship by owanguy(m): 12:14pm On Apr 18, 2021
Family includes people we love and those who love us , those we are connected to through a shared history and experience.
You can build good relationship in your family with quality time , communication, teamwork and appreciation. Good family relationship are enjoyable for their own sake. It just feels good to be part of a warm and loving family. But good family relationship are important for lots of other reason too.
But more often than not, mending a relationship may be possible if you can summon some patience, kind words and compassion.
The following can be a step to a better family when there is discord
1. Start with forgiveness
2. Look for the good in the person
3. Be the bigger person
4. Try to see the other side of the story
5. Provide reassurance
6. Identify the real issue
7. Use your words
8. Give it time.
QUALITY TIME AND FAMILY RELATIONSHIP
1 . Use everyday time together to talk and share a Lough
2. Have time together when devices are turned off and out of sight
3. Have one on one charts with each family member to strengthen individual relationship
4. Set aside time with your partner, if you have one
5. Conflict is allowed but resolve it as soon as possible
6. Open communication among all family members.
