@ oweniwe. I agree with you. But I saw the whole thing as fun & took pleasure in it - u know the boy stuff. I never thought for once that I was going to get any reward for such 'fun'. Beleive me; the reward keeps rolling in.
which reward? huh
if its disturbing your study, then its time to stop completely. or stop and re-adjust, making serious time-table for it.
its like telling one to choose between the devil (cooking) and the deep blue sea (school cafe). If i had choice, i'll choose the devil. I learn something from cooking but what does one learn from going to mama put? Moreover there's temptation to over spend at the school cafe and you don't always eat to fill.

Family › Polygamy And Dirty Money by oweniwe(op): 1:38am On Jul 13, 2010
A close friend told me that a few years back, they were very poor. But after his dad married a second wife, they become wealthy. He said its the second wife that's producing the money thru some "skeletons in the wardrobe" (hope you know what i mean). The pop spends a lot on the seconds wife, but sends peanuts to his mom. He said most wealthy polygamous families are like that- the men MUST NOT spend on their first wife and kids or the money would stop flowing. Does that mean today's men now marry second wives coz of dirty money? Nairalanders, pls bare your minds on this

Nothing wrong for a student to cook in hostel, its part of learning. U must know how to plan your time.
I improved on my cooking skills in school (hostel) - I hardly patronize restaurants or ate 'junks'. I do the cooking myself and do the eating with friends -wat a pleasant memory. Cooking had no bad touch on my academics/studying. A serious student would table-out a good schedule plan for his/her time.
its very hard o. It takes lot of discipline to go for prep after cooking. And eating with friends. . . I'm not stingy but i hate it. You spend money to buy stuffs at nerve straining market, sweat before the cooker heat, as you are about to begin to enjoy the fruits of your labor, some parasites who have been watching would swoop on you and empty ya pot in the name of friendship. After destabilising your feeding plans/ timetable, they'll walk away without even saying thanks. If you buy sliced bread and hope to finish it in 3 days, if friends enter, you won't eat more than two slices and 3 day plan's gone in 5 minutes

I'm sorry about not having reference. I read it in a magazine last year that when children engage in pounding prick at early age, the body shifts attention from increasing height to maturity/developing reproductive organs. It affects both s e x but shortness is more pronounced in girls.

Andre Uweh:
The earth is sacred in West Africa, and when one commits some abominable act agaist the earth, the earth takes up a fight against that individual or individuals . For them to die mysteriously may be a sort of revenge from the messengers of the sacred earth.
I know this sounds incredible, but it is true.
life is survival of the fittest. A Yoruba proverb says "iku t'on pa ara eniyan l'aye nbe l'orun ara won" meaning "most people are the cause of their death thru  negilent/silly/weird decisions" you don't have narrate what the earth does or what it should do. leave the earth to fight for itself.
Andre Uweh:
They are dying in droves.
which is more serious btw the twins strange attitude and that of the barbaric mallams who slaughter people like bed bugs in jos? Why not wish them death instead of the twins who didn't hurt anybody? huh
Health › Why Are Today's Girls So Short In Height? by oweniwe(op): 8:01pm On Jul 12, 2010
Most of the girls around nowadays are very short in height compared to our mothers who are average height or tall. Ladies, why is this so? I heard pounding a prick too much at an early age can make a girl short.
Culture › Re: Meet Kogi Twins Who Married One Wife by oweniwe(m): 7:22pm On Jul 12, 2010
Andre! Your judgement is too harsh na. If the twins were your relation, would you wish them dead instead of pray for them. A father does not pick up a gun and shot his son because he is mad and walking naked on the streets. Its a painful situation that is borne with hope and prayers. Even in the U.K, do juvenile serial killers get sentenced to death? No. They are sent to rehabilitation centers. I'm not supporting what they did but wishing them death is not just the right thing to do

How many students can afford to buy fridge plus generator to power it in the hostel? N30,000 fridge plus N20,000 generator= N50,000. Fridge is not allowed in my school hostel coz of fire outbreaks. Same in other private owned universities. How man go chop one week food sef? huh huh huh

Hello nairalanders, do you think its right or wrong for a student to be cooking in the school hostel? Cooking regularly at school discourages students from reading as it wears them out. I cook sometimes at school too and after going thru the heat, i just feel like watching dvd/sleeping straight when i'm supposed to be "ghosting" handouts. Is it right 2 be doing full time cooking at school? What do you think about from education/moral point of view and from experience?

What if after all the expences, they did not vote for you?.
The probability that they won't vote for you is very slim. Rural folks all do the same thing at same time- farm, wash, cook same food, wear same clothes- especially those that belongs to clubs. Rural folks don't go against what the town crier said. If the king, elders and youth leaders say vote 4 Andre; everybody will vote for andre. You have to be the state's ruling party member sha. Other wise, hmmm. . . .

I go for egusi coz its easier to prepare than ogbono and egusi can be used with many other dishes- rice, noodles, bread, etc. But ogbono can only be eaten with eba/p.yam/fufu. If the ogbono is too thick, God help you o. And sometimes, i feel like vomiting after eating ogbono so i vote 4 egusi

Culture › Re: A Man Cannot Claim A Child If He Did Not Marry The Mother (igbos Only) by oweniwe(m): 7:13pm On Jul 09, 2010
The culture, just like life itself has a good and bad side. The good side is that it discourages irresponsibility, enables the partners know each other well b4 marriage, ensures that the man can provide for his family, etc. The bad side is that those who are born into relationships like that especially girls go through lots of stigma and trauma that prevents them from acheiving their life aspirations. It also affects the child's marriage later coz it creates tension between the child (now married) and in laws. Anyway, lets call a spade a spade. Its wrong for anyone 2 hav child outside marriage so i support the tradition
