Olachase:Nigerians can NOT be satisfied. The NNPC is no more involved in the marketing of petroleum products but you still want to be blaming NNPC. Is it Ministry of Works that serve as Middle Men between Dangote Cement Pls and the Consumers? |
vanvickie:What exactly do you guys want? Federal Government/NNPC have left the petrol business for the Private sector. You can negotiate directly with Dangote ,to sell petrol cheaper for you, nothing concern FG in it anymore. |
Sultty:Probe Dangote for what? |
mohbadliveson:In the 1980s, guys like Papi Ebuka would spend the contributed NEPA bill and would give excuses for not producing the receipts for payments until the following week when NEPA officials would come to disconnect the power supply and cart away the wire, throwing the whole house into darkness. Then fight would start and everybody would start complaining against Papi Ebuka especially when they return home after a hard day at work , to sleep in mosquito infested rooms in darkness. When NEPA restore light to the street ,with neighbours shouting up NEPA, but this house still in darkness, some younger co-tenants would become restless and start cursing Papi Ebuka. The following morning, Papi Ebuka would go to Nonso or Baba Muri's Shop to borrow #500 to pay the NEPA bill. After this payment, NEPA would request for #50 reconnection fees (which was a huge amount of money in 1988) but the tenants would start arguing that it is Papi Ebuka that should pay but the guy man would turn a deaf ear and this may make angry and rude co-tenant like Ismaila or Broda Mike, to want to fight Papi Ebuka. And tenants from the surrounding buildings would come to the compound to settle quarrel. In the process, Chief Sylvester who lives opposite the house but has two shops at Idumota , may offer to pay the #50 reconnection fees. The following week, while Papi Ebuka is yet to return from his chemist shop, Chief Sylvester would be making gestures at Mama Ebuka and trying to convince her, on how he could take better care of her than Papi Ebuka.Because there wasn't Hand phones then, these kinds of discussions were often done physically but in the process, Iya Amina ,the operate grinding machine at the next house would see the Chief talking with bedroom voice with Mama Ebuka a cross the road and boom, she would leave her house which doubled as her shop to trek 30 mins to Papi Ebuka's chemist shop to gossip with him about the brewing illicit relationship between Chief Sylvester and Mama Ebuka. Papi Ebuka, would thank Iya Amina. Who would sit down to relax and used the opportunity to explain her backache medical conditions to Chemist Papi Ebuka. Then ,Papi Ebuka would say that 'this na serious condition o,but I fit give you ogbonge injection for inner room to cure it one time' and encourage Iya Amina to enter the inner cubicle in his Chemist shop which also doubles as his 'injection room' As soon Iya Amina enter the inner cubicle, remove her wrapper to take the injection, the Devil would come into the play and one thing would lead to another, such that Papi Ebuka's diick would mistakenly enter the Pussy of Iya Amina ,in the inner cubicle. After 5mins, both would come out with Iya Aminat frowning her face as if unhappy about the 'mistake' that just happened but Papi Ebuka would console her , offer her a bottle of chilled 7-up or Mirinda with #20 to use as transport fare back home. And at that time ,i was a small boy sent on errand by Uncle Timo Shenko to buy amala at the junctiin and branch at Papi Ebuka's chemist to buy Tetracycline (commonly used to treat diarrhoea in those days), i was waiting at the counter for Papi Ebuka to come out and sell medicinesfor me ,when my preying eyes saw the two of them coming out from the inner cubicle in awkard positions. Papi Ebuka would offer me 'condensed' which was a kind of home made ice cream tied in small bulbs of transparent nylon bags,in subtled attempts to bribe me because he knew that I saw what just transpired . He would also tell me that he has just bought a new football for Ebuka(his son who is my play and primary school classmate) and that I should be coming more frequently to their compound to play football. And this subtle bribes often worked because I wouldn't disclose the matter to anyone until over 30 years later, by which time the viscitudes of life has made me to understands that sometimes, shit happens amd what happens in Vegas ,still in Vegas. ...This was a typical 'trenches life' of Lagos in the 1980s. |
MadPolitician:If you go to Lagos or Onitsha, you will see many houses built by people who can't speak good English Grammar while University graduates who can speak Queens English are their tenants. |
Realtruth2023:No parts of Landmark was demolished. They had time to remove their tents at the coastline and water front, which belong to the Government. |
aalangel:Landmark has no beach. The water front and the coastline belong to Government. Landmark bought land (not beach) from the Oniru Family. |
Tareq1105:I am not a member of the Labour Party but if Labour Party wish to make a difference in Nigerian politics, they need to do things differently. There should be a level playing field for all members regardless of their financial status and reduction of the negative effects of monetization in the electoral process |
OgbeniOja1:The Labour Party need to intensify in their campaigns to attract new members. They should target the ordinary people like NURTW members, Farmers, Okada riders, University students, Musicians, Clerics and make their tickets Cheapest. Funding of the party should be by donations and monthly contributions from members. |
Chetas81:Dangote does NOT need Mele Kyari or NNPC or FG to sell petrol to marketers/consumers just as he doesn't need Federal Ministry of Works before selling his cements to the consumers. |
maxiuc:All Yorubas are proud of their towns and ancestries, that is why Yoruba have OKIKI, that talk about their ancestries, the exploits of their forebears and hometowns. As a matter of fact, the ORIKIs of many prominent Families in Lagos show that their origins are from the hinterland e.g The ORIKI of the Oniru Royal Family ,(on whose land ,Victoria Island was built) point to Mahin (Ilaje) ancenstries while the Onikoyi points to Oyo ancestries. As a matter of fact, anywhere you see IKOYI ,either in Lagos State, Osun, Kogi State or Benin Republic, just know that there are from the Old Oyo Empire because the 'The Ikoyi Esho' were the Royal Battalion that used to protect the Alaafin in the Old Oyo Empire. |
By becoming more sophisticated in our productivities. There is need to adopt the latest technology in the ways we produce foods, garments, shoes with better organization for storage, distribution and marketing. |
shaboti:Edo State is not Yoruba, so leave Yoruba out of your madness. Asue Ighodalo, Olumide Akpata and Monday Okpebholo are Edo men. |
aswani:The Obidients and GRV are trying to refine who is an indigene of Lagos State by narrowing it down to only descendants of returned slaves from Sierra Leone or Brazil. |
Shawarmagirl:The fact that you think the former speaker and a scion of the Gbajabiamila dynasty, a prominent Lagos noble Family is a migrant in Lagos State shows that your ignorance is top notch. Femi Gbajabiamila and Muri-Okunola are from L/Island. Tokunbo Abiru is from Ikorodu. Obasa, is an Awori man from Agege. |
johannu:IREV is similar to score boards at stadiums during foot ball matches. During elections, scan copies of the official results from each polling unit are uploaded. It is not for collation |
Lipscomb:So many protests have been held in Lagos, Abeokuta, Ibadan and Oshogbo apart from the protests in Kano,Kaduna ,Minna, Port Harcourt and other places. The Northerners engaged in violent protests destroying their cities with resultant loss of lives, which solutions did it bring? Can protests solve economic problems? Nigeria has deep seated accumulated problems and the current problems we are facing now are the problems we didn't solve 10-15 years ago. |
Iamanoited:How would Dangote recoup running cost and enough profit to repay $Billion loans he took to build the Refinery? |
bigpicture001:The President is NO longer the determinant of pump price |
engrchykae:The topic is beyond your level of education, exposure and intelligence. Look for your mate in such petty banters |
Afonja44:Very ignorant write-up. The downstream sector has been deregulated and the President is no longer the determinant of petrol pump prices. |
BitterTruth0001:Ojukwu never backed Biafran pound with anything, he just printed his currency in Portugal on colourful papers ,asked Biafrans to submit their Nigerian Pounds and gave them Biafran , worthless pieces papers that no one outside Biafra recognised or willing to accept |
Biodun556:Some Lagos Island people came to resettle in the town of Surulere, a very old Awori Town where a diety called ELEGBA is worshipped. The alter of the deity was called 'Oju bo Elegbe ti Ilu Surulere ' which was shortened to 'Oju Elegba' |
Biodun556:False. Ikeja is far from Ikorodu and Epe. Ikeja is a traditional Awori Town and the name , Ikeja was originally named after Awori diety |
madridguy:They are mostly awori people. Ikeja was named after an Awori diety. Agege , Akowonjo, Egbeda, Ikotun, Idimu are all Awori |
Yampotatocarrot:Nigerians don't want to obey the laws in Nigeria regarding cryptocuredncy and they want to be repeating the same in 'saber climes' |
helinues:1) Rwanda is a very small country compared to Nigeria. 2) Rwanda is fairly homogeneous. The Rwandans, despite divisions into Twi, Hutu and Tutsi ,speak only one language called Banyarwanda and practice same culture. 3) Rwanda have abolished 'tribes' such that it is now illegal to call a Rwanda citizen Hutu or Tutsi, but you can simply call him a Rwandan It is easier for Rwanda to move on and reconcile since they are more or less the same people. |
guysbewise:Irrespective of the past, if the Igbos or any other tribe want a separate country, they have the inalienable rights to do so. However, I think it is best that their Representatives in the National and States Assemblies table this in Parliaments |
I hope you know that it is both a sin and an offence to take advantages of dwarfs? |
agadez007:This isn't true. The Jihard and Islamic Emirates United Fulani, Hausa, Karekare, Kanuri and several other tribes under the banner of Islam especially in URBAN areas. In the rural areas, peoples are less religious, poorer and sometimes fight for access to and the usage of Land and water bodies, which can sometimes take tribal colouration. Because Nigeria practice a system of 'sharing the National cake' ,people who have similar backgrounds and worldviews (shaped by common ancestries, religions and/or history) tend to bond together against 'the others' |
Kobojunkieee:Security agencies can approach the court for an order to detain a suspect under investigation beyond 24hrs especially a suspect which high possibility of running away (Pidomn tried to hide under anonymity and described himself as a breeze). |
