Why is there no visible mass migration to the Anambra land of milk and honey especially during these times.

Can we also have a list of monies Anambra loaned to other states?

The ways many of these people want everybody to believe in their Messiahnism is quite amusing. Imaging aying Anambra has the best economy in Nigeria just by words of his mouth!

Your understanding of the economic situations of Nigeria is shallow and tinted with tribalism.

There is no easy way out.

The capacity to sustain importation will reduce and most people won't be able to afford imported items.

Nigerians should go back to productions of ANYTHING they can e.g goats, maize, garments , granites, wooden planks, Cocoa, Furniture etc.

Increase export business.

The wealth made by export of crude oil since 1973 is no longer enough to sustain our lifestyles.

@Oyatz
I agree with your first paragraph. People have to keep an open mind with some of these things.

So, are you saying with certainly that Sen. Fatai Buhari's paternal side is originally of Fulah descent based on what his nephew told you?

Femi Fani-Kayode also has a Fulani Great grandfather who was an Islamic cleric and this is why he said he is one-eighth Fulani in terms of ancestry but mostly Yoruba.

I know FULL well from reading past historical materials for decades now that the major post-colonial Fulani thrust into the hinterlands of Yorubaland took place after 1900 with small cattle settlements especially in today's Oyo State.

Indeed, Islam originally came into Yorubaland (Oyo Empire) over 500 years ago from Mali hence the Yoruba name "Esin Imale" or "Religion of Mali" used to describe Islam. Iwo in Osun State has the first and oldest mosque in Yorubaland according to the Oluwo of Iwo.

With reference to Alhaji Mutahiru Saraki, there's NO doubt that the man has NO immediate or extended family ties with Ilorin. That's what he told Ambassador AbdulGaniyu Folorunso AbdulRazaq in 1962. He ONLY came to Agbaji in Ilorin for Quaranic studies at a young age from his hometown in Abeokuta. This is an open secret now to even the Ilorin indigenes that Dr. Olusola Saraki is an Egba. The Saraki's have NO single ancestral family house in Ilorin so can't be from Ilorin claiming descent from a non-existent Fulani ancestor who allegedly came from Mali to Ilorin 200 years ago.

The only thing Dr. Olusola Saraki had going on for him was that he was wealthy, hence was tolerated because he spent money on Islamic causes in Ilorin. Oloye (Dr. Olusola Saraki) REAL ancestry was busted hands down from multiple sources.

Before British colonialism, tribal identities as we now know and proclaim them weren't big issues.
Before 1900, what was more important were Kingdoms (or Emirates) and Empires, which are often populated by people from diverse ethnic backgrounds but who lived together and have loyalties to their kingdoms/Empires.

There were itinerant Fulani clerics ,herders and traders in various numbers who settled in different parts of Nigeria, including the S/West. With passage of time, some of these people adopted Yoruba names and culture such that by third generations, you may not know unless they tell you.
I have first hand experience because one of my Ex-GF is one of their descendants. The day I went to their house and saw her father, I believed her story of Fulani ancestry because the father still have remnants of the tall, slim Fulani physique.

It may interest you to know that Oyo Empire was NOT 100% populated by Yorubas and at various times, included Bariba, Nupe, Hausa slaves, Fulani settlers and Dahomians. All of whom didn't disappeared but their descendants today ,simply identify as Yoruba.

Nigeria earns well enough to ensure currency stability

In 2021 alone, Nigeria earned about $47.2 Billion in export and spent $52 Billion on imports.

The chunk of the imports are the following few items $11 Billion (Petroleum products), $3Billion (Wheat), $2.8 Billion (Automobile), $950 million (Package medications), $940 million (Machineries ).

Let me educate you hopefully APC guys can learn

Like Peter obi always say... Exchange rate is not an issue stability of an exchange is the issue...

What do I mean.... If naira exchange for 2500 to a dollar and just moves between 2495 and 25005 for 5 years... It's better for the economy than naira exchanging 150 to a dollar today, 170 tomorrow, 130 next tomorrow 200 next week

When a currency is unstable, people would look for the next stable Fiat which is dollar which would cause dollar to increase in value which would cause more Unstableness of the local currency

The truth is 60% of dollars demand now is for savings people just want to save their money in dollar because naira is unstable

APC caused this by floating an unstable currency causing panic and didn't have the reserve to balance out the panic which made the naira more unstable and the circle continues

The CBN under the last administration had reached the lower limit and they started borrowing $1.5Billion monthly to defend the exchange rate until no foreign bank was ready to borrow them. There is no enough dollar earnings to use for the defence of the exchange rate, hence the only option was to float the exchange rate. All the present unwanted inflations and increases are unwanted side-effects. Because this policy hasn't been implemented in Nigeria before, it will cause destabilization but Nigeria will eventually emerged stronger from it.

There is a deliberate attack on d Naira to bring down d government.
The current Exchange rate crisis is NOT caused by any economic issues but purely due to speculative activities. There is no exchange rate rate that move permanently in one direction almost on weekly basis.
Politics / Re: Suggestion For Food Scarcity And Food Reserve Strategy by oyatz(m): 8:07am On Feb 15
CodeTemplar:
From available information about our national grain reserve's capacity here, here and here, our strategic grain reserve has a total capacity of around one million metric tonnes. (1 million tonnes).
That's the maximum storage capacity and doesn't mean all silos are filled with grains. Perusing the available articles further, the actual grain reserve is estimated to be around 300, 000 metric tonnes by me.

Now we may or may not all agree that volume is enough to interrupt the forces of supply and demand in a market for 200 million people and affect prices of grain positively for consumers.

Well, I have a suggestion for the grain reserve to be filled and stand a better chance of helping Nigerians. It involves importation of grains into the strategic grain reserves.
Research shsow that corn and wheat are two very nutritious and vital grains. Corn goes for $220 per ton while wheat is higher and averages around $280 per ton. Both average $250.
A million tonne of both is $250 million and eight million ton is $2Bn.

Instead of subsidizing petrol with far more than that this year alone, why not just, with a fraction of the subsidy, import grains into our silos. That eight million tonnes will do a lot because as it stands today, what govt have been releasing as intervention maxes out at a hundred thousand tonnes. If a hundred thousand tonne can do wonders, 50 times of that will do some miracle for Nigerians.

Instead of watching local harvest get wasted by diseases and rot away in amateur storages, let govt buy them and use it as part of the grain reserve to encourage aggressive farming locally.

Do you know what will happen if you take away $2 Billion from Nigeria's economy right now?

1) Why not deploy NYSC members to farms to start massive cultivation of corn and wheat ,both of which takes about 90days to harvest?

2) Set-up National Food Company via PPP to buy made-in-Nigerian food items like rice, Cassava flour, Poundo Yam and meat directly from the Farmers and sell at subsidised rates to the all Civil servants, Military and Para military officers while the cost is deducted dire from from their salaries just as we arranged subsidised healthcare in form of NHIS.
In the second phase, all employees of banks and companies with verifiable identities and data bases can also buy from the scheme while the cost are deducted from their salaries.

In the third phase, workers in the Informal sector can also buy from the scheme while their association e.g NURTW collect the money upfront from their members and pay to the company.

In this way, we will eliminate the middle men, patronise the farmers and help the masses.

All the institutions you mentioned were put in Lagos because Lagos was the capital of Nigeria at the time, now Abuja is the new capital of Nigeria and the federal inside should move to Abuja. Lagos is no longer the capital of Nigeria

Your doomsday prophecy about Lagos is clearly far from anything related to the subject of Economics.

Wealth grows wherever men exert energy.
Politics / Re: How The Lagos Economy Will Burst by oyatz(m): 5:48am On Feb 14
kettykin:

The Lagos economy bubble is driven by a number of factors, including:

Rapid population growth

Increasing disposable income

Speculation in real estate and other assets

These factors have led to a surge in asset prices, particularly in the real estate sector. However, there are a number of risks that could lead to a burst in the Lagos economy bubble.

Interest rate hikes: The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has been raising interest rates in an effort to combat inflation. This has made it more expensive for businesses and individuals to borrow money. As a result, there is a risk that demand for assets will decline, leading to a fall in prices.

Currency devaluation: The Nigerian naira has been under pressure in recent months. If the naira devalues, it will make it more expensive for Nigerians to buy imported goods. This could lead to a decline in consumer spending, which would impact the economy.

Global economic slowdown: The global economy is facing a number of challenges, including the war in Ukraine and the COVID-19 pandemic. If the global economy slows down, it could impact demand for Nigerian exports. This would lead to a decline in economic growth, which could impact asset prices.

If one or more of these risks materialize, it could lead to a burst in the Lagos economy bubble. This would likely result in a fall in asset prices, which would have a negative impact on the wealth of businesses and individuals. In addition, a burst in the Lagos economy bubble could lead to a decline in economic growth and job losses.

Addition to this is the winding down of many industrial complexes owned by foreign and local investors that has been plaque by diminishing return on investments

Even though, your views about Lagos are mostly driven by tribal bigotry and hate but next time when you want to write about economic growth over a period of time, you must include figures and numbers e.g Percentage increase, per capital etc

In addition, Alhaji Mutahiru Saraki (who was the LEADER of the large Nigerian community in Cote d'Ivoire in the 1960s) is NOT descended from any itinerant Yorubanized Fulah origin. He's the father of Dr. Olusola Saraki and a proper Egba man from Abeokuta (Egbas being a branch of the Oyo people, migrated from their original land in Ibadan to Abeokuta). Dr. Olusola Saraki's mother was from Iseyin in Oyo State and that is well-known. These historical records have to be succinctly stated for posterity sake.

If Alhaji Mutahiru Saraki was of so-called "Mali Fulani" descent, he would have told the Nigerian Ambassador to Cote d'Ivoire from 1962 to 1964, Ambassador AbdulGaniyu Folorunso AbdulRazaq, SAN. Instead, he CLEARLY told the Ambassador AbdulRazaq on several occasions that he is from Abeokuta but only went to Agbaji in Ilorin for Quranic studies. He had NO extended family or family house in Ilorin but he did have in Abeokuta. Olusola Saraki created this Mali story as a subterfuge to gain political leverage in the national space.

The current Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is one of the biological sons of Ambassador AbdulGaniyu Folorunso AbdulRazaq. Senator Hairat Gwadabe is also his daughter.

The first attached picture directly below is a 1962 photograph of the then newly appointment Nigerian Ambassador to Cote d'Ivoire, Ambassador AbdulGaniyu Folorunso AbdulRazaq, SAN, and the Ivorian President Felix Houphoet-Boigny. Directly BEHIND the Nigerian Ambassador to Cote d'Ivoire is the LEADER of the Nigerian community in Cote d'Ivoire Alhaji Mutahiru Saraki, the biological father of Dr. Bukola Saraki.

Many Nigerians like to believe only their own versions of truths and foreclosed the possibilities of other truths.

I know Sen Buhari's Nephew who personally told me their family ancestry.

Dr Olusola Saraki couldn't have brazenly distorted his family ancestry since he wasn't the only one in the family. His father might have settled in Ilorin, but he might be a descendant of Fulani clerics scattered in some parts of Kwara/Oyo/Ogun State.

Rice don't have special borders for importation.
The importation of rice and many goods via Land borders was restricted and directed to use the Seaports for proper scrutiny on economic and security grounds.

The problem with importation via land borders: most of the rice were smuggled, thus weren't subjected to security clearance and payment of import duties.
