good to know, are u presently schooling there?
No, but I go there for fishing on the lake. MSU is a good smaller university, and a nice campus that is easy to navigate. The town is smaller but fine. During the summer, right after Memorial Weekend, lots tourists come in with their boats, pleasure boats and fishing. MSU has a good recreation center also. If you like to watch sports they have an American football team and a solid basketball team. Student tickets are really cheap if you like watching sporting events.

INTERVIEW TRANSCRIPT
vo: why are you going to the U.S.
Me: The education system of the U.S. is widely and generally accepted in providing in-depth research and fundamental knowledge in solving national and international issues. Thus, a Master's degree program in the U.S. will equip me with top notch research and knowledge to tackle existing and emerging societal issues in Nigeria.
Vo: where are you going to
Me: I am go to Murray state university(the racers) to acquire a Master's degree in public administration
Vo: what is your study plan
Me: I am required to complete total course requirement of 33 credit hours for a period of 24 months. During the cause of my program, I will be taking major causes such as: research methods, foundation of public administration, public policy analysis, public budgeting and finance.
Vo: How many school did you apply to
Me: just one
Vo: why Murray state university
Me: the school curriculum is well designed that it covers all aspect public administration ( health administration, public community health, economic development and non- profit leadership studies) with excellent state of art research facilities ( ray science campus, watershed study institute, center for economic education and finance) and also an impressive 15 to 1 student to faculty ratio.
Vo: How did you know about Murray state university
Me: it was recommended to me by a lecturer I have close contact with, then I proceeded to make further research about the school and found out it is ranked 34th best colleges regional university south
Vo: did you write any standardized test
Me: No, it was not required
Vo: Tell me about your academic background
Me: I had my Bsc in business administration in 2012 from ........ university
Vo: what have you been doing since then
Me: after the completion of NYSC in 2014, I attended a workshop on leadership and career development and later held a position as a customer care agent at ....... limited, presently I work as an administrative officer at ......limited and also a volunteer for an NGO
Vo: But you have a job, why are you leaving
Me: it is only a temporary leave which I wil be back with greater drive to make an impact through NGOs, as our government need to be monitored and kept on their toes to ensure they are proactive and sensitive in formulating and implementation of public policies that has direct impact on the citizenry.
Vo: This program is available online, why do u want to travel for it
Me: online degree is yet to be generally accepted in Nigeria, having the program online will hinder ability to interact, brainstorm and share ideas with fellow international students, and also limit direct access with course advisors for possible assistance.
Vo: why are you changing from business administration to public administration
Me: both degrees are actually interwoven, I am looking to have in-depth knowledge on how to tackle emerging societal issues. As a matter of fact, my undergraduate project was centered on the impact of business environmental factors on the performance of business.
Vo: What will you do after this program
Me: upon the completion of my program, I intend to come back to Nigeria to work and partner with NGOs to tackle the major problem of policy formation, monitoring and implementation, as our government show less concern in implementing policies after being formulated.

If you have seen a queue inside a bank, she's right. There's no where she mention "OUTSIDE". If you can open an account online, why would you want to normally go in branch?
Lots of people open accounts online. I did with TD and Ally. Originally there was a question about what non citizens can do. Various banking laws changed with the Patriot Act. I have a checking account with Huntington and when I have go into a branch there is never more than a few people in line. And the employees that help to open accounts usually have private offices, never a long wait. Even when I take documents to get notarized never wait long.

That tells me a lot about your morals. Again, please don't talk to me.
You reply to me asking that I don't reply to you. What kind of a double standard is that. You want to dictate to me and suggest I can't reply to you. There is no issue in the USA with long lines and waiting at bank branches in the USA.

I don't know what Utopia you live in but here in Houston, there are lines ESPECIALLY if you want to open an account SMH.

There is a reason I have avoided responding to you all this time but since apparently I'm a liar I will respond. I have not told a single lie in over twenty years. I'm not scared enough of anyone or anything to warrant lying and I don't take any actions I can't admit to later.

In our last encounter I found you to be myopic and rude and you just displayed those qualities again in this encounter. Kindly refrain from responding to anything I say in the future. There are a lot more people for you to spread your hate to.
I have never seen a line outside of bank branch in the USA ever. Every person lies about various things.

I've opened almost all my accounts online even when I was on student and work visas . Who has time to go camp out in a bank? It was so irritating wheni had to open Nigerian accounts. At least Wema now has completely online with Alat.
What kind of lies are you spreading? There are no lines at banks. Branch banks are micro much smaller LOL because most things are online. People still shop, dine out, meet and socialize. To suggest a person has to "camp out" to open a bank account is not only a lie but intentionally misleading. Why do you do this? There are some lines at the Dept of Motor Vehicles, the bank, no. Why these lies?

Manual farm jobs are mostly done by Mexicans. Nobody else will do these jobs for the hourly rates that are paid. If farmers paid enough to attract citizens, their farm produce will be too expensive for both local consumption and export and there will be massive losses. The rate of illegal crossings was significantly down during the recession when there were fewer jobs and we actually started to see some illegals going back home. I have never met a Mexican who sits home and gets govt benefits. They all work hard for their living ... and taxes and SS are deducted from their paycheck. They will not see SS benefits since they are illegal so it's a plus to the system.
In the bulk of the USA farming is overwhelming white and of German heritage (some Irish heritage also). There are a few niche areas for picking some things in California and I read something about Alabama. The same goes for dairy farms and cattle. Although of course in the right parts of Texas cattle work in equally white/hispanic. Commerical farming agriculture is highly advanced, not many employees per acre. Plenty of legal illegal immigrants from Spanish speaking countries get welfare benefits in the USA.

The reasons for POTUS making immigration a priority are far from it being a problem for this country. To put it kindly, he is playing to the motivations of his electoral base amongst other suspect reasons. Mexicans take advantage of the system because America has refused to provide a sensible pathway for them to come here and take up the jobs that U.S. citizens do not want to do. These jobs are here and plentiful. This is why most Mexicans come, to work and feed their families. Most will prefer to work here, make money and go back home if they know they can easily come back again. Americans are fine with them working here but do not want them gaining citizenship and certainly not voting. If there are no jobs, they will not come.

There is this unspoken fear of the browning out of America..... just like the whitening out of America happened 200 years ago. Europeans certainly abused the liberal immigration policies of the Native Americans and are scared of history repeating itself.
White and Black Americans do all of the hard dirty jobs where I live, garbage man, janitor, roofing, hanging dry wall, road repairs. There is very little illegal immigration where I live. There are Chinese and Indians here getting graduate degrees or working white collar. They don't do any dirty jobs though.
Reagan and Bush1 both signed laws giving around 7-8 million illegals from Mexico citizenship. So more and more and more keep coming.
The matter is illegal immigration not legal immigration. "browning" out of America, lol. Nobody really cares white dudes love those asian and hispanic chicas.

Again, incorrect. Said relative originally opened online SMH. It's just this new one that she was rejected for after citizenship question.
Even undocumented and illegals can open a bank account, they get individual taxpayer identification number ITIN from the IRS. Green card holders open bank accounts, people on student visas open back accounts, temporary workers H1B visas open back accounts. Small banks, big banks, credit unions all do it. Asking about citizenship is the law though.

Hmmm...interesting!

What if people lie about their status by claiming that they are US citizens?

I guess the only way those banks can verify that is by telling them to bring in proof.
Online opening banking accounts as a non citizen is a no go. Nothing new due to anti Terrorism laundering laws. One has to visit a bank in person with visa/passport and secondary ID like a drivers license or another form of ID.

This anchor baby story is a myth.

Right now American kids with undocumented parents are leaving with their parents.

It is amazing how after getting their papers aome immigrants suddenly start to look down on others.

Reminds me of the villager who goes to the city, gets a big job, becomes rich & secure. When his poor relative comes to visit from the village he does not want him around sad
If the parents are not legal residents then yeah some get deported, some leave voluntarily. I agree with you about metropolitan city people who look down on more rural people. They often think they are more sophisticated.

They've been to the moon, have landed rovers (plural) on Mars and have spacecraft that has travelled outside our solar system. So yes the US is not stupid.

(1) Please provide any proof that any bank refused to open a bank account for you because you are a citizen.

(2) You don't need an accountant to do your taxes. There is no such requirement and there are software available and even free online companies including the IRS to file your taxes.

(3) Please clarify this. The US simply requires you to file taxes on foreign income over a certain threshold. This is a good thing. If Nigeria was similar perhaps we would have developed more than we have.

(4) Only an exceptional child would be able to file for his parents at 21. He would need a co sponsor for his I864.
Yes I used a free tax return software program last time. I was ignorant of this prior to finding out. Also, if one is not scared of discount mobile phone services.....there are a couple that offer free monthly limited service like 500 talk minutes, 250 texts or then a smaller data cap. (if on wifi the data never comes into play).

Yes, but chances are that school district is not the one getting them. Don't get me wrong, I don't think it should be a free for all but I think people should be able to seek refuge here and if born here they should be citizens. The ones sneaking across the border are not the problem. It's the ones who have the money to get on a plane and fly here just to have baby be American that I think should be clamped down on. Those who are seeking better conditions should be allowed to do so. After all, a lot of America was stolen from Mexico grin
The people sneaking across the border are a much larger problem, there is so many more of them. A recent Yale-MIT study places the number at a minimum of 22 million illegally residing in the USA. And to work they have to do it under the table or buy fake or other peoples SSN numbers. They also find lots ways to snag welfare benefits. The tourism birth people with money eventually return home most of the time. If you really are serious that anyone seeking better conditions should be allowed in the USA that is 70% of the population of the planet. USA didn't steal land from Mexico, they fought a war and then the USA gave Mexico about 20 Million. That is more than the Louisiana Purchase, and for worst land. The American SW was desolate until the USA made massive infrastructure improvements, Hoover Dam, that brought water, power to the SW. That and the invention of air conditioning made the SW livable. Also Mexico stole it all from Spain before LOL.

Not sure what you're referring to as illegal in that video. The children, who are U.S. citizens, cross the border legally everyday to get on a school bus. The video clearly shows them being swiped in...dunno but likely with a passsport card. Its all on the up and up. Like I said, it may be offensive to some, but it's all legal. Anchor citizenship as far as I know is still the law of the land. Many years of precedence for this. There are varying schools of thought on the interpretation of the 14th amendment, but until it is revoked or struck down by the courts, it still remains the law. As for the legality of their attending school, note that education is the exclusive preserve of the local jurisdiction of that state. Local laws do allow for even illegals to attend school.
Depends on the state. I checked this is probably legal in New Mexico, seems to be illegal in California, Arizona, and Texas for a non resident to attend XYZ public school if you are not a resident of the school district.

I get your argument but the trade-off is an investment in the future. America has the best of the best because of this. A lot of them grow up to pay society back x10. It's not like they run back to their countries with what they got here. Also, immigration is was America was created for and is its sole purpose. It's supposed to be a safe Haven for people want more so I don't see the problem.
There is no evidence to support this. Nobody even knows how many illegals are in the USA. Immigration laws exist. You champion no laws.

Yes, ain't that something? I totally understand your point of view, but isn't this part of what makes America great? The fact that this country is bound by its own laws; obeys the law even when it's inconvenient and sometimes with negative consequences? How I wish Nigeria would uphold the same principles. In the grand scheme of things, this is part of the cost of upholding American ideals and its civilization.

The cost is insignificant compared to the resources available to this country. On the surface, it appears offensive to we the tax payers, but then, it is legal. Life in America as a whole is very unfair. Think of how medical insurance works. You and I and most insured Americans pay our premiums, and by the grace of God hardly use a fraction of what we pay in. However, an uninsured person can walk into the emergency room in a crisis and is guaranteed medical care. Most do not and will not pay a penny. In addition, 85% of medical costs in America is consumed by a relatively small percentage of seniors on hospital care. They consume multiple times what they put in. The point I'm trying to put across is that the system is designed such that corporations and the working class support the poor, unwilling, old and sick. What do we get in return? The absence of the unpleasantness of people dieing in the streets and safety from revolts with hungry hordes attacking and looting our properties grin

Lest we forget the most aggregious of examples, our ancestors who paid 400 years of hard labor in America. This has always been the American way, the basis of the American civilization! Monkey dey work, baboon day chop. When a monkey shakes the banana tree, some of the fruit falls to the ground and the baboon feeds too. If the baboon doesn't feed, there is a risk he might become a carnivore and start devouring monkeys. It's a win win situation!

My apologies for waxing philosophical this fine evening. My kindest regards to all who contribute to this interesting discussion.
Probably nothing in that video is legal. Giving citizenship too anchor is probably illegal. Laws can be enforced or not enforced. A country either has laws and borders or it does not.
