So please confirm which you interviewed for, volunteer or officer? Yes, very true, volunteers are paid 25k, and this is totally different from full-time staff of FHI360 which being an international organization, pays its staff according to the Foreign Service National (FSN) scale which is extremely attractive.

I have always wondered why there are always job vacancies in this fhi NGO. In my experience regular job openings in an organisation means that their staff keep resigning; and when staff keep resigning from an organisation, it shows there are no incentives to keep working in such places.

The NGOs that one can be sure of being paid a reasonable salary are those sponsored by international organisations like the UN and USAID.

FHI360 is an international organization and is the implementer of the largest HIV programs in the world, funded by PEPFAR through USAID. This is asides other major funders.
@ the person who say she/he was interviewed for the position of travel coordinator... entry level to an officer position is nothing less than two and ahalf times the 120k/month you mentioned, this is after tax, and is in addition to other benefits. I am not certain who you spoke to, but not even the lowest paid unskilled/non-graduate, gets paid less than a 100/month. Well...except you spoke to a cleaner who works with the cleaning company contracted to do so.

It may help to check www.fhi360.org out sometimes to learn more. It really isn't good to spread wrong information.

Yes, we once got one of those 7-in 1 cartoon DVDs about 5 years back with Lion King, Beauty & the Beast etc. Only for hubby to walk in and see a sex scene showing. He broke the DVD and that was the end of buying those.

Bottom line is we as parents have to scrutinize the contents of TV programs for our children and wards. My children are now 10 and 8, and have never been allowed to watch Cartoon Network because I also believe many of the cartoons on that channel are not children-oriented. There is a variety of other channels that offer age-appropriate educative, informative and entertaining programs for children. #myopinion

FHI360 is actually scaling up its coverage areas of program implementation in Nigeria thus the regular vacancy announcements. The positions advertised are new ones as such. Nothing to do with staff resignation or condition services.

Flight to Calabar has been rescheduled for 3pm

So I was scheduled to travel from Abuja to Calabar on a 10.30 am flight, which was rescheduled backwards twice eventually to 9.25 a.m.

Ok, we finally left Abj at 9.45am and got to Calabar about 10.30a.m.....then story starts o....we
are told we will hover in the air for about 15 minutes to allow the weather clear over....45 minutes later, landing is aborted, we feel the plane speeding up in the opposite direction and pilot announces that we are headed back to Abuja ...there appears to be an inability to communicate with the Calabar airport.

Sooo, now have just landed in Abuja, pilot says we have to wait till the rain in Abuja stops. We have disembarked in the pouring rain back to the departure lounge which is overcrowded.

I will keep you updated on next steps....(meanwhile I called home and my daughter asks if I'm coming back home then
