FamilyRe: Introverts Lounge (Extroverts Pls Keep Off !!) by OyinNurse(f): 4:26am On May 29, 2021
Smile4mee01:
I am a deep Introvert and am worried about my mental health. I will be 36 next month and don't have a relationship, no kids, and money is not a problem because I work and study. I have noticed myself been in seclusion lately, thinking and thinking. I am outside Nigeria, and thoughts of suicide have been more frequent.

I do make seldom an outburst of prayer, but it seems not to be enough.

Does anyone here have thoughts about what to do?
You are likely clinically depressed, since you have these suicidal ideations. Have you made a plan as to how you will go about committing suicide? Pls don't do it and seek professional help. Make an appointment ASAP to see your Primary Care Physician so you can get properly diagnosed and take it from there. Introversion is not synonymous with depression and there is no shame in asking for help when you need it.....
EducationRe: Meet Nigerian Born Engineer Dr Osato Osemwen With 4 Phds And 7 Master's Degrees. by OyinNurse(f): 3:13pm On May 27, 2021
Reading this article looks like he only has ONE Ph.D. and several Masters which he pursued simultaneously. Regardless, still quite an achievement! I've never heard of someone with 4 PhDs because a Ph.D. is deemed a terminal degree in and of itself. Also, Ph.D. programs here are quite an ordeal. Course work and Prelim exam is the easy part. The real work starts when writing the dissertation. Some of those professors will try to waste your time well well. Going through that process 4 times would take half a lifetime grin

That's what I use mama.
Ok, that's great. I got confused when you said expressing round the clock is exhausting. If you are using the medela pump, preferably the symphony one which is their hospital-grade one, it will empty your breasts within 20 minutes and you only have to do it every 3 hours and done....

Story of my life mama.... expressing round the clock is exhausting but I'm determined to give him some breastmilk, no matter how little. As i type I'm currently at it even. I still try putting him to breast sha with the hope that one day, we will have a breakthrough.
Why not try a breast pump? Medela brand is the best

BA! BA!! BA!!

My princess arrived on Tuesday via VD weighing 3.16Kg with plenty tears.
DoB- 25/05/2021
EDD- 25/05/2021

We are both doing fine except that I’m not lactating even after LO has suckled severally. Experienced mamas or mamas that have had a similar experience, please what can I do so that breast milk will start coming out?

BS loading.

Cc: MomoAdura
Congrats on the new addition!!!! You are probably already producing colostrum, which is not as noticeable as breast milk. Colostrum is a nutrient-rich fluid produced immediately after giving birth and it is loaded with immune, growth and tissue repair factors.
Its could be as little as 1ml for each breast but very essential. Your milk should come in within a few days. Relax, be patient and snuggle that baby....

I'm heartbroken ! My sister delivered of a baby with his intestine stick out of the belly . The hospital she had her baby transferred her to a teaching hospital, my fear is will the hospital have the necessary equipment for surgery.please does anyone know about this birth defect , survival rate and surgery in Nigeria?
Hi! I know this post was from ages ago, but I wonder what happened with that blessed baby? I've had two babies that had to stay in the NICU for a while and I always wondered how they would have faired in Naija. How did the surgery go?
FamilyRe: My Ongoing Experience Recovering From My Wife's Infidelity by OyinNurse(f): 5:25pm On May 26, 2021
Bhus21:
Some 3 weeks ago I confronted my wife about a man she'd been seeing. She unapologetically told me she had slept with him and wanted a divorce. This is my attempt to process this shock to my system and heal from the trauma.
OP, please take heart; I can't even imagine what you must be going through emotionally. Just try to take it easy so it doesn't affect your physical health. What a heartless woman! I call her heartless not because she cheated and put her marriage/family life in jeopardy; for that, I call her careless. No, I call her heartless for the way she blurted it out to you with no regard for your feelings. No married woman is perfect but strict boundaries are needful to guard the sanctity of marriage o. Infidelity is nothing to sneeze at! In fact, I can't tolerate it, and neither can my husband. We are both Christians but how can you forgive and/or forget this level of utter betrayal? It is obvious she made her choice already and she does not love you anymore. Pls let her go....but what of the innocent babies? How will you split them? Has she taken all of this into consideration? Please you have to summon courage, Sir, even though your heart is breaking, for the sake of the babies. Sit down and have a rational discussion with her about how to make the aftermath easy on the babies. They must not suffer for their mother's carelessness o. Please involve family and trusted wise ones to help with the kids while you iron out the logistics with your wife. I will be praying for your family....take heart.

TravelRe: Have You Ever Met Someone Really Nice While Traveling And...? by OyinNurse(f):
Yes! While travelling alone on a flight back to the States, I met a Grandma travelling to Atlanta for the first time for her daughter's "Omugwo". She was just absolutely stunning ( didn't look a day over 40, even though she told me she was 62) and acutely hilarious; she really cheered me up on that 6hr flight ( I was feeling a little down since I love travelling but hate travelling alone). You should have seen her grin ordering alcoholic beverages like there was no tomorrow and cracking jokes. We exchanged numbers and stayed in touch for about a year after. Even got to talk with her daughter. Unfortunately we are no longer in touch. She must have changed her number or something.... From all indications, though, she was really having a blast in the ATL grin. Who knows? I might jam her again, on another transatlantic trip.....

FamilyRe: At What Point Should A New Couple Get Worried Over Conception? by OyinNurse(f): 5:54pm On May 24, 2021
OP, I validate your concerns. When the couple is ready to conceive, 2 months will seems like a very long time. Barring any medical concerns, conception should happen if you are sure you guys captured the fertile period accurately. Does she track her ovulation? Have you heard of the symptothermal method? This involves graphing her basal temperature and cervical mucous consistency throughout her cycle. I'll use myself as an example: My cycle is irregular and when it does play itself out, it's 40 days long instead of the customary 28 days. Hubby and I were well aware of this going into marriage and I had a big graph in our bedroom. Every morning, I tracked my basal temperature and cervical mucous and plotted everything. Even with a wonky cycle, the graph clearly showed when I was ovulating and I confirmed with the ovulation test. To cut a long story short, we conceived within a month.
It's good you guys get a medical check-up and barring any complications, you will conceive soon. Stay prayerful, hopeful, and active. Best wishes!

Wow, scary, expressionless eyes on the groom even as he kisses his bride and hugs his daughter. His body language is, "There is nothing new here. What's left to conquer?" Such apathy, is he even in love? I guess this is what a woman gets when you've allowed the man to chop every delicacy you have to offer before he has fully committed to you before God and man. You lose out on seeing in your partner's eyes the sweet thrill of anticipation that tying the knot can bring undecided

Please is administering spinal anesthesia painful? Just inquisitive and would like to know because some are saying the long needle hurts grin.
Yeah, it's painful. The anesthesiologist applies a numbing agent to the site so that you feel a lot of pressure with no sharp pain. But mehn, that pressure is much. I always have issues with it because of the anatomy of my back and this last pregnancy had to have General when they tried and failed to get spinal in. It was quite horrendous

RomanceRe: Will I Ever Get Married?? by OyinNurse(f): 2:50am On May 22, 2021
OP, you need to enter a period of celibacy to at least give your heart and emotions a chance to revert to factory settings, if at all possible. Every woman you casually sleep with is a spiritual transaction which hardens your heart more and more and that is why you feel no emotional attachment. You need to give yourself time to heal from this mischief, otherwise there will be nothing left by way of a loving heart or emotions to give your future wife. Best of luck.

Thanks a lot Ma’m. I’ve had several ultrasounds and it shows it’s a multiple uterine fibroid.
4months to go tho
Can’t wait to share my testimony!!
Yes! You will indeed testify!
The LORD is your strength and you will not fail in the journey of pregnancy
The LORD is your light, darkness will not overshadow you and the baby
The LORD is your life, untimely death is not your portion or the portion of your baby, in Jesus Name.
This is the prayer I said over and over again throughout my pregnancy and I give it to you....

My baby is 6 weeks today and my supply is 1 on a scale of 1-10. Also found out the flange I bought was small(24mm) so I was told to try a bigger size. Been looking for it all week
Oh Sis, I feel your pain! Yes you need a strong pump and correct size flange to get all the milk out. I live in the US. How much does the flange cost in Naija? I can look into shipping cost and let you know. What kind of medela pump are you using? The Symphony 2.0 is the best.....
FamilyRe: Wife Calls Police To Evict Her Nigerian Husband In London (Video) by OyinNurse(f): 3:26pm On May 20, 2021
Na dis kain story dey pain me because I see pipo generalizing and extrapolating to all women everywhere! Not the case, all women are not like this. Love is a risk however you slice it and faith, coupled with a positive mind is needful. I married a Nigerian guy who also happens to be a US Citizen and at the time his friends and some family members were skeptical of my true intentions. My Bobo just soldiered on, for the sake of love, and I never noticed a shadow of doubt from him. In the US, once you marry a Citizen you can become a Citizen within 3 years. As a young lady with my tiny wisdom, I felt the only way to prove my sincere love to his people was to drag my feet on the citizenship process even though he begged me to proceed. When I eventually got the blue passport, nothing changed; true love surpasses all that. Love and respect has not decreased and why should it? Yes, we fight sometimes, as all couples do, and then we settle within ourselves as rationale adults. Why will I betray him? After all he has done for me and how he stood up for me. If I do, if he no curse me, the curse will curse itself. People have to realize that Eleda dey fight for the innocent person. So please, if you live abroad, and you fall in love with someone back home, don't turn your back on love for fear of betrayal. Feel free to proceed with caution but also with faith and a positive mind...

Good day to mummy's in the house, please I really need your opinion, my boy is 1 yr old this week and I have being giving him NAN formula. But NAN is getting too expensive and I was advice to start him with peak 123 since he is 1 year old now. Is it ok with it because wifey is disagreeing with it. There is the saying that goes he that wears the shoe knows where it pinched.
Yes, after 12 months, the baby can have whole milk. There are some cases that the pediatrician will suggest continuing formula if baby needs the extra calories like in the case of babies born premature or underweight. However, if the weight percentile is healthy or above-average I can't think of a reason not to do away with the formula.

You are welcome..please kindly shear your experience, why your pregnancies are considered high risk, and how you resolve it. Please, biko so that, we can learn.thank you
Thanks for the warm welcome Futuremoma! It is much appreciated! As a spinster, I had irregular menstrual cycles and I was nervous that this would make it difficult to get pregnant. I shared this with hubby before marriage ( I know, very risky move grin) but he wasn't worried. And he was right, we got pregnant within my first menstrual cycle in my husband's house. By 12 weeks along, I started to palpate a hardness close to my uterus; uterine fibroid! No idea I had it because it was silent and never bothered me before pregnancy. This thing began to grow with the pregnancy causing incredible pain. I eventually gave birth at full term and I decided to surgically remove the fibroid after a few months. The surgery was scheduled and everything was set and boom! Found out I was pregnant again grin. See tears hahaha. Same story with the second; high risk and having to see specialists throughout. Ended up giving birth at full the again. Two vaginal births. The fibroids shrinks all the way after childbirth and never bothers me until I am pregnant again so I decided to leave it alone. After a few years I caught baby fever and we tried again. Got pregnant on the first try and I was expecting fibroid wahala but this time it was preeclampsia. Ended up giving birth preterm with CS. She is fine now, healthy and perfect. Gave birth to the fourth one, 6 weeks ago, had preeclampsia again and baby was born 3 weeks to EDD, CS with general anesthesia....anesthesiologist couldn't get an epidural in, they almost paralyzed me after trying for over 2 hours. Baby is healthy at home now, eating like a lion and sleeping like a tree grin grin grin
All of this is highly summarized so if anyone has questions, please feel free to ask me. Thanks again for the warm welcome kiss

Mamas help me o am experiencing dryness down there after delivery, no matter the pre-intimacy, what can I do apart from using lubricants
Yes, it can happen like that. Estrogen is a hormone that does maintenance work to the vaginal tissue and helps to keep it well lubricated. Estrogen levels drop during childbirth and breastfeeding and hence the dryness. Sis, please try to give your body some grace as it adjusts itself. Water-based lubricants can help. Also, try to double and even triple the time for pre-intimacy. Use the opportunity to experiment and try different things with your partner and try to make sure you are wet before penetration. Please do not have penetrative intercourse with dryness because that will irritate the vaginal walls; ouch. Also, please stop and regroup with any sign of pain. Sexual intimacy can still happen without penetration. Bear in mind that, thankfully, this kind of dryness is short-term compared to post-menopausal dryness, in which case some use estrogen therapy. Remember: Relax, experiment, and enjoy this season wink Hope this helps...

Greetings to all the extra strong mamas here, staying resilient and holding it down until you receive your bundle of joy! I just gave birth 6 weeks ago and it was high risk. In fact, all 4 of my pregnancies were considered high risk and I am so bummed I am just discovering NL and this group. I could have done with the extra support. However, I hope you will still accept me in your ranks; I truly feel I am in good company. Congratulations to all the new mamas! grin
