Princek12: I know this thread sounds funny, but I just had to create it to address a certain pattern I noticed among Nigerians during my last three travels to several countries in Europe from the United States.

You know when you have passed through security and are sitting at the departure gate waiting for boarding to begin. Yes, you know--when people are waiting in line to board the plane. You notice those with USA passports (the Blue Passport) typically hold their passports out for the world to see, sometimes by placing it on the top of other documents they have or just holding the Blue Passport by itself and making it noticeable.

To the contrary, those with Nigerian passports (the Green Passport) typically remove their passports from public view, sometimes by placing it at the bottom of the pile of documents that they have or leaving it in their purses or pockets. They tend to expose their passport insofar as it is needed to be inspected--in just enough time to show the airline employee, and the passport is removed from public view immediately it is no longer needed. This same thing happens at the check-in counter.

This practice is also common at Murtala Muhammed Airport.

While this does not apply to every Nigerian traveler, I know it applies to many of you, whether you would admit to it or not. I see you people all the time. Which of the traveler are you?

Who told you an American will not understand you in your normal Nigerian accent? If you can understand them why can't they understand you? See me see trouble o!
Although I'm more conscious about my grammar when I'm around oyibos, I still speak with my normal accent and they understand me as well as I understand them.
The only time they won't understand you is when you are not speaking correct English or when you add too much 9ja slangs.

Originalsly: Instead of faking an accent it is better you practice speaking correct English and speak clearly.Fake American accent was one of the main reasons that turned people away from Nollywood movies in the US.Fake accents should be kept within Nigeria...it can work here...not abroad. In one sentence you can hear these idiots change from a New York to a Southern to some version of a UK accent....and they think they are doing great!What would you think of a person who begins speaking to you in Igbo accent that changes to Yoruba accent and ends up the sentence with thick Hausa accent?
