Lilimax: I detest fake accents. I only speak their accent(American) when I'm in their midst but always speak my Nigerian English(especially pidgin)when I'm in the midst of my Nigerian friends. There is no need of faking it... smiley
You know the worst? Bastards with the scars and RATCHET razz look you can CLEARLY tell just got off a plane and you try to be "brotherly" and speak "nigerian" with them and they want to form? Like really dude, I AM american, I just have nigerian in me so quit that $hit Ugh

apache77: I always hear people say Nigerians who travel abroad always come back with a fake accent, even if its only one month they spend in London or America. Is this true? Do Nigerians try to speak like foreigners?

What i think is that the biggest problem you face the minute you step into obodo oyinbo apart from the cold is your accent. Our accent is so thick foreigners cant make out head or tail what we are trying to say. So from immigration right to your next door neigbour, you struggle to communicate- nobody hears's your type of English. Our slow drawl is a big problem, not just to Americans or british but even to arabs and asians.

The quickest way to be heard is trying to speak like these people (americans or Brits) who cant hear you. Asians and arabs ahve grown up watching american movies and mingling with the Brits, so their ( Brits or American) type of accent is hearable and hence universal-much like the dollar is the globally accepted currency everywhere. So for you to be heard, you a naija boy or girl just stepping into America must speak like them.

Over time, if you stay there long enough, you start speaking like these people and substitute your Naija accent for theirs. Some people manage to retain their naiaja accent and use that when home only to switch to their americana accent when they go back.

Do you agree with me? or there is a more profound reason? Share your thoughts
OMG I watched an interview with Iyanya and he switched from half "abuja" accent to "lagos" accent, to British ..YET ... he pronounced Miami as ME-YAMI

Watch the mess..

dartsidius7: Medical and non medical (recreational) marijuana is actually allowed in some states (under state law) in the US but only in small ounces. Some allow physician supervised possesion. Some allow possession by 21 years and above.
In November 2012 Initiative 502 passed by Washington voters with 55.7% voting for the measure, and 44.3% against. This initiative will allow adults over the age of 21 to legally possess up to 1 oz (28 g) of marijuana, 16 oz (450 g) of marijuana infused product in solid form, 72 oz (2.0 kg) of marijuana infused product in liquid form or any combination of all three and to legally consume marijuana, and marijuana infused products.

Prior to the passage of I-502, the city of Seattle had passed Initiative 75, which directed the Seattle Police Department to make marijuana possession its lowest priority. Tacoma passed a similar initiative in 2011.

Plus, kid cudi has a track titled marijuana.

These days most people dont even really care about weed.
Hallucinogenics are stealing the show. Now those can really make people crazy
.
Bath Salts a la zombie face eating in FL? His track was ambiguous, it could be argued as art. You can possess up to 1 oz? Do yourself a favor, try possessing 0.02oz and get stopped by the cops, lets see how far you go

shocked huh huh huh Such an empty head .

Do you know that in America, a crime for white collar crimes might be 2 years even for embezzlement of over $1b yet for possession only you go to jail for minimum of 5 years + any other circumstances. If the country decides it wants to punish marijuana offenders with 15 years and 14 years for homos then let the country be

Ijogz K: May God punish those NDLEA pple or wot ever deir name is. "I even thought weed was now legal in Naija at the rate at which it is sold everywhere even at most church entrance and by the mallams kiosks beside mosque, it is hawked at Abule Egba market junction and given as give away when u buy anytin above N200 at Sango area, my security at home uses it for it's multi purpose reasons,

1. Smoke
2. Mix with hair
3. Nutritional value in food
4. Chase insects outta d house
5. Return to a normal state of health n free u frm anxiety

So can the ND wot ever deir name is go after the ones dey can physically see with the weed and leave our dear Tonto alone..

Imagine Tonto in Jail for 15yrs, what's gonna happen to Nairaland front page news.

#teamsavenairaland.
So I see you reason from your ars@.

1. It is irrelevant what the security at your place use it for - they too could be arrested. That is your subjective opinion on the issue. The law stands.
2. Weed is NOT legal in america regardless of how rampant it is sold
3. You don't need anything physical - the law states that the mere promotion and encouraging of the substance is ILLEGAL
4. She took ownership when she said and I quote "Mi smoke mi ganja" that sentence is enough
5. In the US here the police ONLY need to have probable cause to believe you are in possession whether you claim it is yours or not, the matter remains it was found under your care. Stolen goods in your house can not be explained away as you not knowing so the issue of her account being hacked is baseless
6. Photoshop indeed..so I guess the business class ticket in the picture too was photoshopped? Regardless she was PROMOTING and ENCOURAGING The use of marijuana - ILLEGAL.

Here in the US an artist can NOT encourage the use of marijuana, they can get away by calling it weed because afterall they can claim that they are talking about garden weeds, however tell one of them to ATTEMPT to call it "hemp" "marijuana" or perhaps a more direct name that points DIRECTLY to the fact of the drug "Ganja" and they will end up in jail in less than 24 hours So the Nigerian Law enforcement agency is RIGHT. Tonto did promote the use of the drug. She should be reprimanded. If you can show me one american artist that can come out and talk about smoking my "Hemp", "mArijuana" ...they use coded words like "that good good" "My good weed at home" etc. "Im on that L" NEVER EVER will they title it the drug else that is CRIMINAL and WILL land them in Jail so don't talk out your empty ar$e

Again the fact that you claim everybody uses weed, does not mean the law enforcement have no right to pursue it. Again sometimes there are a lot of murders, the police cites one, pursues it and uses that one to make an example to others. Afterall she is the prime candidate, use a celebrity and the masses will learn.

RomanceRe: An Apology Letter From Men To Women by ozoemeka(m): 7:57pm On Jun 27, 2013
Myne White: Dear Women,

First of all, we're sorry. We're sorry that although we look like men, we often act like boys. We're not even sure what it means to be men anymore. As we grow up, we learn that to be happy is to be self-indulgent and self-centered. We try to make enough money so that we can have the right TV with the right video games in the right home. We want to date you and maybe even marry you but we are scared to focus on someone else instead of ourselves. Isn't it sad that we see committing to you as a potential threat to our happiness instead of a wonderful opportunity?

Here's what we don't understand: True happiness comes from being true men. We think and act like boys who don't want their toys taken away. We look up to "role models" in the media who teach us to get as much gratification out of life as possible. We may claim to be spiritual, or even firm atheists, but pleasure is the god that we worship, whether we realize it or not. Unfortunately, women tend to be just another part of our hedonistic lifestyle. Please know this: True men won't treat you like an irritating obstacle or a sexual convenience.

A real man understands that women are to be cherished and treated with care and honor. He sees marriage as the opportunity to be a real-life superhero—he leaves behind his old identity and becomes a new person, dedicated to serving his wife and children. Although he will struggle at first, a true man who marries eventually understands that he can't fit through the narrow doorway to happiness if he tries to carry all of his toys with him. There is just enough room for him and his wife, arm in arm, committed to their marriage.

Women, you can help us become real men! Most importantly, we want to feel admired by you. Help us to know that you love us just as we are, even if there is room for improvement. Do this by giving us words of validation; praise us for the things we do well. This means more to us than we let on.

In return, we will make sure that you feel loved and cherished by us. We will learn to talk with you so you can be heard and understood, not so that we can tell you how to solve your problems. We'll also try to learn to express how we feel without withdrawing or getting angry. With polished communication we can learn that what makes you happy makes us happy too! What a concept!

Once again, we're sorry. We are to blame, even though good male role models are hard to find these days. We've ignored our calling to become true men and instead act like we're in high school for as long as we can. Please trust that we are capable of more than this.

If you are frustrated with the man in your life, do your best to forgive him and start fresh. After a while, if it's clear that he will not become a real man, leave him. You deserve better.

A healthy relationship will make everyone involved feel happy. When we are happy, we are capable of living meaningful and fulfilling lives alongside one another. Thank you for your understanding and patience as we journey onward to find happiness and become real men.

Sincerely,
Men

get a jacket or a mediumly thick blanket...its cold inside the air plane and a 18 hour flight will only make it colder.

bring your own food...because that crap they serve on board will not be enough that's if you are able to stomach it...

Cash
...yeah i know this is obvious but most people don't....sometimes the plane has to do an emergency landing because of bad weather....and it could take hours before another clear cloud roles through...and if you don't have cash....you gonna be hurting....

and if you can try and get a seat all they way in the back...because they always try and fill up the plane from the front to the back...so sometime the back is empty...

Contest organizers in Brazil have pronounced 65-year-old grandmother, Irenilda de Oliveira Meneses as Brazil's most beautiful elderly woman.

The pageantry was open to women who are above age 60. Out of 200 contestants, and being one of the 25 finalists selected to compete in the beauty pageant in Sao Paulo, the gorgeous grandmother has emerged queen.

Meneses, a mother of two, has this to say about winning the pageantry, "To win is very exciting, very exciting. I'm so moved, I'm speechless, very speechless".

The women were judged on their physical appearance, smile, personality, elegance and more. The entire essence of events as this, as summed up by contest organizer, Anilton Guedes, is that these elderly women feel like they are participating in life. They are brought out of whatever negative situations they face as a result of their age to feel happy, celebrated and young again.

Awesome stuff this is, you'll say.

CrimeRe: Man Jailed And Given 600 Lashes For Offering Himself Online by ozoemeka(m): 5:19am On Jun 26, 2013
gramci: A Saudi court sentenced a man to five years in prison and ordered him lashed 600 times after he was caught offering hisbody on Facebook.
The Gulf Kingdom’s religious police seizedthe man in the eastern town of Dammam after receiving a tip off from a Saudi man in the same city.
Members of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice arrested the man after raiding his address mentioned on his Facebook page.
A local news agency, Sabq reported that the man, believed to be in his 30s, was arrested after a Saudi national alerted authorities about the posting of “an indecent proposal to offer himself for sexual acts” on a Facebook account. The man admitted that he had made the sex proposal via Facebook.
Comments online were unanimous about the “need to punish the man for going public with his vices.”
“I cannot believe that he has done this and he is supposed to be a mature personin his 30s,” Amer wrote.
Om Muhannad wrote of how shocked she was by his proposal.
“I have always had concerns about teenagers, and now I read about a man inhis 30s getting into such acts,” she wrote.
However, Abu Khalid wasn’t quick to condemn the man as he believes the manneeds help.
“It is a serious issue and the man needs help. Let us pray that he overcomes his condition. It is very wrong to condemn him. We have to be careful because someone in the family could also be afflicted one day,” he wrote.
Mohammad Abu Adel said that people should not be quick to condemn the man.
“He may have mental or psychological issues. Do you seriously think that someone with a sane mind would do this? Please do watch what you post,” he commented on the news site.
Saudi Arabia, bans deviant sexual behaviour and its courts punishes it with corporal sentences. Whether the man needs help or not, he will serve the complete duration of his sentence and get his lashes.

He has stunned audiences with jaw-dropping stunts that defy logic and can make the most skeptical cynic believe in magic.

But in an daring new act, Bradford-born Illusionist Dynamo today took his impressive skills to even greater heights.

The 30-year-old entertainer took in London's sights by levitating beside the roof of a 15ft double-decker bus.

Smiling for the cameras, Dynamo, whose real name is Steven Frayne, travelled alongside the two-storey bus with the palm of his hand placed on the roof.

He hung in mid-air with his other arm outstretched as he crossed Westminister Bridge. A police escort cleared the way for Frayne's daring feat, ensuring there was no traffic around the bus.

Viewers of the magician's hit TV show are used to seeing him do the impossible, but lucky fans who were travelling in the bus looked on in amazement at the stunt.

People on the bus took pictures of the 'you have to see it to believe it' moment.

The trickster's levitating act, in partnership with Pepsi MAX had onlookers asking 'Where are the wires?'

The entertainer is the new face of Pepsi Max and is fronting its Live for NOW campaign that will give hundreds of prizes away to customers.

Frayne's awad-winning show documents the tricks he has up his sleeve- from his mesmirising sleight of hand to his ability to walk on water.

He gained notoriety when he 'walked' across the Thames in 2011 to promote a new series of his show Magician Impossible.

Frayne has built his name on the celebrity circuit, astounding famous names with his tricks.

His previous tricks have included making Little Britain star Matt Lucas levitate before a live audience at Arsenal's Emirates Stadium, and turning signed lottery tickets into cash in front of Robbie Williams and Davina McCall.
