You read my sgnature and want to use it in a sentence? Nice. FYI beggar in nigeria is NOT equal to lawn mower in America. There are street beggars.. Ever heard of the word HOBO? Google it. My point is Nigeria should NEVER have been compared to America in the first place, however if op and you want to , then let's compare EQUALLY.

adconline:
You lack logical reasoning.Naija vs America not illegal immigrants. Aboki gateman is not an illegal alien in Naija.Illegal Mexican lawn mowers don't make that low wage in the US. Tell me how much Nigerien beggars in Naija make?

It is that poverty mentality and reasoning that "it is better on the other side" . Till you get to the other side and realize you were way better off in your country. You make about $10-$12 /hour which is Admin http://www.forbes.com/sites/larissafaw/2012/02/01/college-degree-10-hour-job/
FACT: the JANITOR in my school is from Cameroon. In Cameroon he was (I saw his certificate, etc) a top marine worker and earned ENOUGH TO OWN A HOUSE and lived "large" ..of course like most Africans, he played the lottery got a VISA and QUIT ALL HE HAD because he thought he would come to America and make more. MIND YOU HE CAME WITH An ALREADY ESTABLISHED VISA - SECURE PAPERS EVERYTHING LEGAL GUARANTEED......YET he is the janitor aka dustbin guy (not the "chief" dustbin guy, not even a senior one) in my school and GUESS who else works there : mexicans etc (foreigners). And the americans (about 2 of them) who work with him pile up all the work on him. America is GOOD to come to IF you ALREADY HAVE A JOB WAITING FOR YOU, else Visit and GO BACK TO WHAT YOU HAVE.

Jeezy: I just figured that i make N14,000 a day in Naija. Yet i STILL wanna quit my job to and school in the US undecided

I was born and I LIVE HERE, and I AM HERE NOW in my own apartment at 21.

Your key word here is you CAN not you WILL. Without papers some people earn money, the downside is once you get caught it's straight to a plane and down to your village.
Omooba77:
When you have papers, if you dont have papers, you can even earn lik $3. I hve been there so I know what I'm saying........God bless Nigeria. I stayed in an apartment where what I paid is far far than what obtains in Nigeria, though life is good over there.

America's worst is NOT a fast food worker. There are lawn mowers, mexican workers who work for little to $.50-$1 per hour depending on where and who is hiring them.
adconline:
Compare America's worst eg fast food worker to those in Naija's worst- Aboki Gate guards, who get paid between 5-10k/month
This argument should not have started if Nigerians are really honest. We should be comparing Naija to Venezuela=N63K/mnth or Saudi $800/month
Politics / Re: USA Minimum Wage Vs Nigeria Minimum Wage. by ozoemeka(m): 6:10am On Sep 17, 2013
It is illegal, thus this law applies to only LEGAL citizens.

Immigrate to America and get paid under minimum wage and see who listens to you

adconline:
Uninformed and blind assertion. It's illegal to be paid less than the minimum wage in the USr , unless u work in restaurant industry where u make up with tips and gratuities. While the 18K benchmark does not apply to states and private sector in Naija . Aboki gatemen are paid N5K-N10k in a month by their employers.

LOL how do you know?!

These nigerian immigrants here are the most though. They come here and their ass gets humbled. You can find them showing out though in ASAs, ISA etc (African Student Association, International Student Association) oh and don't forget to find them at "after parrryys" especially the Independence Day DMV party saying "we owhea" they come to black parties stand like wall flies and go to their ASA "cookouts" and TRY so hard to be "black" YET they talk the MOST shit about blacks..

you still use "aii" you must be a super fob

Godogwu:

I'm studying mechanical engineering and its offered in Nigeria but it was my father's idea of me schooling here, so here i am. The minimum wage has everything to do with the rent (cost of living), if the cost of living is very low then the salary won't matter and if the the cost of living is very high then the minimum wage would be next to useless yes?

Now i never told you its hard for me to survive here, I was just doing a comparison with Nigeria and the Us on rent and accommodation. Like I've said earlier the Us has arguably the best educational system and Uni's in the world and my parents can afford it so i'm here to make the best use of the opportunity. Oh and you probably got me mixed up with one of those desperate Nigerians who want to leave the shores of the country by all means...Nahh G i'm not about that life. I came here cause i wanted aii.

Finally there are unemployed and underpaid grads in every part of the world.... A cab driver who dropped me off from the airport recently is an economists but there are no jobs and he has to feed his family so he resorted to cab driving. His case is definitely one out of many.
Finally I don't care if the US is better than Nigeria (Its a bloody first world country gaddammit!), I am Nigerian and I could careless how great the US is. What Nigerians should do is look for ways of building our country, changing perspectives, electing better leaders, challenging corruption and so on rather than adore and worship the US at every given instance.
Politics / Re: USA Minimum Wage Vs Nigeria Minimum Wage. by ozoemeka(m): 6:02am On Sep 17, 2013
Independency starts at 18? Stop fooling yourself with that and learn to type.

at 18, you become 'responsible for your actions' meaning you can get tried as an adult in court and you have the right to sign your driver's license, do what you want without an 'adult'. you are considered an adult at 18. This doesn't mean 18 year olds have houses and cars. some people live with parents when things are rough for their finances.

ighoosagie: who said life is less expensive in nija?
1.cars n their life span
2.food, (u can get a full chicken as low as $5)
3.Electronics,
4.Computers $ tablets
5.Phones,
6 clothes (original nt ABA)
All these listed above re basic needs n they re cheaper in USA .

Mayb electricity bills is lesser in nija becos, electricity comes once in 2weeks grin

U claim life is better or cheaper in nija , yet at 40 most nija still live wit parents, meanwhile independency begins at 18 in USA.

Pls ogas at d top stop d comparing n U guys should stop saying wat u don't know

Nick names are a pseudo sort of "pet names" . Your grand parents were ok with saying they LOVED a man, without any "homosexual" connotation attached to it. the "gay" factor is a "borrowed" concept.

y-fo:

well sorry to say that all this your long post hardly adresses anything...u talking bout arabs kissing on the cheek.....that's their culture and doesn't have any deep meaning

let's settle this simply, our grandparents and elders in the society don't give each other pet-names and hardly been affected by what u feel is nigerians being "copy-cats"...so if its not in our traditional culture nor d western culture, from where I ask do we accept giving our fellow brothers pet-names as the norm?

Romance / Re: Girls Can Call Themselves Pet Names But Guys Cant? by ozoemeka(m): 2:43am On Sep 16, 2013
Society started the trend. Trendsetters don't follow. Guys give each other Nick names. Why it doesn't sound "soft" is because most guys (in their heads) want to BE SEEN as the MOST MACHO. Therefore they want to answer "hard sounding names" so you may rarely hear a "hon/babe" etc however they will call each other by their nicknames.

2. Society dictates and women reinforce the idea that MAN should be associated with all things MANLY. YET you discover that every now and then a trendsetter will BREAK those rules. Remember when it was MANLY to keep a bushy hair and FEMININE to cut your hair short? Someone broke that cycle and guess what - the followers, in their usual way, followed and NOW it is ok.
Remember when it was MANLY to wear loose fitting, baggy clothes? Someone broke that cycle and guess what - the followers, in their usual way, followed and NOW it is ok.
Remember when it was MANLY to wear ANYTHING but pink and soft colors? Someone broke that cycle and guess what - the followers, in their usual way, followed and NOW it is ok.

Remember when it was MANLY not to be groomed - hair, nails, skin? Someone broke that cycle and guess what - the followers, in their usual way, followed and NOW it is ok. Men even try to "brag" about their skin, looks and lips. Don't get started on ABS - it was FEMININE to be so interested in your body

Remember when it was NOT MANLY for men to walk around with bags? Someone broke that cycle and guess what - the followers, in their usual way, followed and NOW it is ok. Now men have messenger bags etc

Remember when it was NOT MANLY for men to wear earrings? Someone broke that cycle and guess what - the followers, in their usual way, followed and NOW it is ok.

Remember when it was NOT MANLY to dye your hair blond? Someone broke that cycle and guess what - the followers, in their usual way, followed and NOW it is ok.

In a nutshell, someone THINKS xyz is NOT manly, followers FOLLOW, someone else changes it, followers follow.

if a popular artist starts calling guys by a pet name, I give you 2 years, make this thread again and almost EVERYONE will say it is not a big deal. It's all about the FOLLOWER-LEADER model.

Society has dictated to men that they must act like brutes and animals, grunting and ACTING machismo. FORGETTING that Machismo DOES NOT EXIST in reality. it is a CONSTRUCTED reality by the media, so when a NORMAL human being TRIES to be like what he "SEES ON TV" you have a disconnect.

A. John watches movies/tv from an early age and "LEARNS" that men "play basketball, talk about women 247, Don't cry, SAG their pants, like Blue, play with action figures". He learned it from his dad, cartoons, music videos, his neighborhood.

SO when John (a HUMAN BEING) finds out later in Life that he likes Tennis, does not enjoy ALWAYS talking about women, feels like expressing his emotions sometimes, wants to dress properly, likes Brown, does not like Action toys......everyone says something must be wrong with John BECAUSE he does not follow "the SOCIETAL constructed standard".....however when John excels in life....the SAME society points back and says "see he was SPECIAL"

Arabs call themselves nicknames, in fact in the Arab culture they call each other "habibi" which LITERALLY translates to "my love". They kiss on the cheek and hug each other, it is NOT seen as gay. Nigerians have a companionship culture BUT because they watch TOO MUCH TV, they WANT TO BE LIKE the "NIGGAS they SEE ON TV" so they BORROW a CULTURE and STANDARD that is NOT THEIRS and try to BE LIKE IT...so you hear guys in nigeria saying "no homo"....when did that become a nigerian "saying"? Older nigerians feel free to hug themselves and tell each other I love you man, you are more than a brother to me. Jonathan said it to David, YET the "COPY CATS" would rather emulate the "westerners"

the issue here: Nigerians LOVE TO COPY. Shame on Nigeria.

Your so-called greener pastures exist solely for us citizens. Foreigners that come to the US do not START off on minimum wage, they start off around $1 an hour or LESS. Go ask the mexicans and people who work in factories.

ayobase: The state of California's minimum wage of $10 (N1,500) per hour to start by 2016. It seems it is about $8 (N1,200)at the moment.

A US citizen that works 10 hrs daily for 20 days gets approximately N300,000 ($2,000) per month!

Nigeria's is N18,500 ($123) per month. Meaning N92 ($0.6) per hour pay.

Why won't people wanna run go greener pasture.

You CAN NOT compare the US to Nigeria. You are not accounting for SEVERAL economic advantages and disparities, Economic power, age of the economy etc.

Compare NIGERIA to Gabon, Kenya, St Kitts island etc those are COMPARABLE countries. The US is over 200 years older than Nigeria. Why would you equate both countries

Culture / Re: 10 Reasons Why Homosexual “marriage” Is Harmful And Must Be Opposed by ozoemeka(m): 7:21pm On Sep 14, 2013
You are still PRESSED about homosexuality. Is there something you're not telling us? Why is homosexuality such a HUGE factor to you

thoth: 10 Reasons Why Homosexual “marriage” Is Harmful And Must Be Opposed

1. It Is Not Marriage

Calling something marriage does not make it marriage. Marriage has always been a covenant between a man and a woman which is by its nature ordered toward the procreation and education of children and the unity and wellbeing of the spouses.

The promoters of same-sex “marriage” propose something entirely different. They propose the union between two men or two women. This denies the self-evident biological, physiological, and psychological differences between men and women which find their complementarity in marriage. It also denies the specific primary purpose of marriage: the perpetuation of the human race and the raising of children.

Two entirely different things cannot be considered the same thing.

2. It Violates Natural Law

Marriage is not just any relationship between human beings. It is a relationship rooted in human nature and thus governed by natural law.

Natural law’s most elementary precept is that “good is to be done and pursued, and evil is to be avoided.” By his natural reason, man can perceive what is morally good or bad for him. Thus, he can know the end or purpose of each of his acts and how it is morally wrong to transform the means that help him accomplish an act into the act’s purpose.

Any situation which institutionalizes the circumvention of the purpose of the sexual act violates natural law and the objective norm of morality.

Being rooted in human nature, natural law is universal and immutable. It applies to the entire human race, equally. It commands and forbids consistently, everywhere and always. Saint Paul taught in the Epistle to the Romans that the natural law is inscribed on the heart of every man. (Rom. 2:14-15)

3. It Always Denies a Child Either a Father or a Mother

It is in the child’s best interests that he be raised under the influence of his natural father and mother. This rule is confirmed by the evident difficulties faced by the many children who are orphans or are raised by a single parent, a relative, or a foster parent.

The unfortunate situation of these children will be the norm for all children of a same-sex “marriage.” A child of a same-sex “marriage” will always be deprived of either his natural mother or father. He will necessarily be raised by one party who has no blood relationship with him. He will always be deprived of either a mother or a father role model.

Same-sex “marriage” ignores a child’s best interests.

4. It Validates and Promotes the Homosexual Lifestyle

In the name of the “family,” same-sex “marriage” serves to validate not only such unions but the whole homosexual lifestyle in all its bisexual and transgender variants.

Civil laws are structuring principles of man's life in society. As such, they play a very important and sometimes decisive role in influencing patterns of thought and behavior. They externally shape the life of society, but also profoundly modify everyone’s perception and evaluation of forms of behavior.

Legal recognition of same-sex “marriage” would necessarily obscure certain basic moral values, devalue traditional marriage, and weaken public morality.

5. It Turns a Moral Wrong into a Civil Right

Homosexual activists argue that same-sex “marriage” is a civil rights issue similar to the struggle for racial equality in the 1960s.

This is false.

First of all, sexual behavior and race are essentially different realities. A man and a woman wanting to marry may be different in their characteristics: one may be black, the other white; one rich, the other poor; or one tall, the other short. None of these differences are insurmountable obstacles to marriage. The two individuals are still man and woman, and thus the requirements of nature are respected.

Same-sex “marriage” opposes nature. Two individuals of the same sex, regardless of their race, wealth, stature, erudition or fame, will never be able to marry because of an insurmountable biological impossibility.

Secondly, inherited and unchangeable racial traits cannot be compared with non-genetic and changeable behavior. There is simply no analogy between the interracial marriage of a man and a woman and the “marriage” between two individuals of the same sex.

6. It Does Not Create a Family but a Naturally Sterile Union

Traditional marriage is usually so fecund that those who would frustrate its end must do violence to nature to prevent the birth of children by using contraception. It naturally tends to create families.

On the contrary, same-sex “marriage” is intrinsically sterile. If the “spouses” want a child, they must circumvent nature by costly and artificial means or employ surrogates. The natural tendency of such a union is not to create families.
Therefore, we cannot call a same-sex union marriage and give it the benefits of true marriage.

7. It Defeats the State’s Purpose of Benefiting Marriage

One of the main reasons why the State bestows numerous benefits on marriage is that by its very nature and design, marriage provides the normal conditions for a stable, affectionate, and moral atmosphere that is beneficial to the upbringing of children—all fruit of the mutual affection of the parents. This aids in perpetuating the nation and strengthening society, an evident interest of the State.

Homosexual “marriage” does not provide such conditions. Its primary purpose, objectively speaking, is the personal gratification of two individuals whose union is sterile by nature. It is not entitled, therefore, to the protection the State extends to true marriage.

8. It Imposes Its Acceptance on All Society

By legalizing same-sex “marriage,” the State becomes its official and active promoter. The State calls on public officials to officiate at the new civil ceremony, orders public schools to teach its acceptability to children, and punishes any state employee who expresses disapproval.

In the private sphere, objecting parents will see their children exposed more than ever to this new “morality,” businesses offering wedding services will be forced to provide them for same-sex unions, and rental property owners will have to agree to accept same-sex couples as tenants.

In every situation where marriage affects society, the State will expect Christians and all people of good will to betray their consciences by condoning, through silence or act, an attack on the natural order and Christian morality.

9. It Is the Cutting Edge of the Sexual Revolution

In the 1960s, society was pressured to accept all kinds of immoral sexual relationships between men and women. Today we are seeing a new sexual revolution where society is being asked to accept sodomy and same-sex “marriage.”

If homosexual “marriage” is universally accepted as the present step in sexual “freedom,” what logical arguments can be used to stop the next steps of incest, pedophilia, bestiality, and other forms of unnatural behavior? Indeed, radical elements of certain “avant garde” subcultures are already advocating such aberrations.

The railroading of same-sex “marriage” on the American people makes increasingly clear what homosexual activist Paul Varnell wrote in the Chicago Free Press:

"The gay movement, whether we acknowledge it or not, is not a civil rights movement, not even a sexual liberation movement, but a moral revolution aimed at changing people's view of homosexuality."

10. It Offends God

This is the most important reason. Whenever one violates the natural moral order established by God, one sins and offends God. Same-sex “marriage” does just this. Accordingly, anyone who professes to love God must be opposed to it.

Marriage is not the creature of any State. Rather, it was established by God in Paradise for our first parents, Adam and Eve. As we read in the Book of Genesis: “God created man in His image; in the Divine image he created him; male and female He created them. God blessed them, saying: ‘Be fertile and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it.’” (Gen. 1:28-29)

The same was taught by Our Savior Jesus Christ: “From the beginning of the creation, God made them male and female. For this cause a man shall leave his father and mother; and shall cleave to his wife.” (Mark 10:6-7).

Genesis also teaches how God punished Sodom and Gomorrah for the sin of homosexuality: “The Lord rained down sulphurous fire upon Sodom and Gomorrah. He overthrew those cities and the whole Plain, together with the inhabitants of the cities and the produce of the soil.” (Gen. 19:24-25)

I know some men/guys that can wear their underwears (boxers, pants, singlets, vests etcetera) for as long as a week or more. Some might be 2-3 days (the fair once).

Aside the fact that this habit is seriously unhealthy, most women complain about their spouses‘ laxity toward changing their underwears daily.

Ask4bigneyo: Have seen many situations whereby some guys wore a boxer for 1-2 weeks, it looks irritating when i see the hem of their boxer shorts atimes.. Does that mean guys are dirty or what..?

Health wise: Putting on a dirty boxer shorts for prolonged period of time is detrimental to pelvic girdle(pubic region) expecially scrotum...

I managed to change my boxer
short every two-two days bt i make sure that i have my bath twice in a day!
