Nigerians will vote a man humble who has denounce vote rigging several time, and has given the judiciary freedom to do their job. Nigerians will vote for the man who has assured development of every nook and crannies of the counry - water ways, coastal roads, international airports, etc. Nigerian will vote for the man who is in tune with international affairs; who rescued thousands of fellow countrymen from libya, egypt, hot-spots and promised no one will be left behind.

Nigerians will vote foe this quiet, unassuming hardworking man, mis-understood honest man.

Discerning nigerian will vote for Good Ebele Jonathan come April.

Speaking to THISDAY yesterday on the latest polling results, the CEO for Sub-Saharan Africa, David Somers, said: “We initially designed a very large sample to cover the entire country. It’s a sample of 11,000 approximately of what we did in every state that will allow us to have estimate per state and in general. We conducted face to face interviews and as we talk to people in local dialects and personally on the ground, we asked people a series of questions about how they feel about life and about things in general and about things they want from their politicians. And ultimately for whom they will vote for whether at the presidential level or at the gubernatorial level. It’s honestly a traditional poll which we do all over the world.

“So the way we arrived at figures was to go to all the states, interview the people within those states and then aggregate all the data from the states up to a national level. Not Surprised.  .Buhari is an Illiterate. . ex soldier and coup plotter
so he will see nothing wrong with the system. .

Of course a system like that will always allow the Buharis of the world with Little or no education rise to the top
while better qualified ppl never make it

Again he wishes to govern Nigeria with little or no education. . .while GEJ the PHd Holder is there

This would never fly in a civilized country

why do we accept nincompoops and charlatans such as Buhari as presidential candidates

Its laughable i tell ya.  .kind of like getting pinochet to come contest in chile

If we want to be a responsible member of the international community

Jonathan Leads with 60%, PDP May Lose Four States

President Goodluck Jonathan

The latest poll conducted by THISDAY/Ipsos ahead of the 2011 general election indicates that President Goodluck Jonathan may secure 60.3 per cent of popular votes in the presidential election. However, his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), may lose the governorship polls in four states.

In the poll conducted in the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) between February 25 and March 16, 2011, 60.3 per cent of respondents said they would vote for Jonathan in the presidential election, while his closest rival, Major General Muhammadu Buhari of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) scored 22.4 per cent.

Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, the flag bearer of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), scored 5.9 per cent, while the candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Malam Nuhu Ribadu, scored 4.7 per cent.
Shekarau was generally acclaimed to have won the presidential debate last week but this poll had been conducted before then.

Buhari has a clear lead among polled samples in Kebbi, Sokoto, Zamfara, Jigawa and Bauchi and further holds narrow leads in Katsina, Kano, Kaduna, Yobe, Borno and Gombe.

Jonathan leads in all Southern states with the exception of Ekiti, where Ribadu has a 54-per-cent score, and Osun, which is considered too close to call, even though Jonathan leads. Ribadu and Shekarau had a strong showing in the state, thereby making it difficult to call for Jonathan.

A noticeable trend is the likelihood that PDP may win governorship in a state and lose presidential in the same state – or vice versa.

In Lagos, for instance, over 80 per cent of the polled voters said they would vote for Jonathan (PDP presidential), while 92 per cent said they would vote for Babatunde Fashola (ACN) in the governorship election.

It is even more common in some Northern states where PDP could win governorship and lose presidential in Borno, Gombe, Jigawa, Katsina, Sokoto and Zamfara.

Also, PDP is in danger of losing the governorship elections in four of the states it currently controls – Bauchi, Bayelsa, Benue and Imo.

In Bauchi, the CPC candidate, Yusuf Maitama Tugar, was rated the highest by respondents. He scored 55 per cent, leaving the incumbent Malam Isa Yuguda of the PDP with 34 per cent; the ANPP flag bearer Nazeef Gamawa with 6 per cent; and ACN candidate Baba Tela with 4 per cent.

In the president’s home state of Bayelsa, former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and former presidential adviser on amnesty, Mr. Timi Alaibe, led with 56 per cent among the polled potential voters, while the incumbent Chief Timipre Sylva scored 44 per cent. Alaibe is of the Labour Party (LP), while Sylva is flying the flag of PDP.

A similar scenario is playing out in Benue State where the PDP governor, Hon. Gabriel Suswam, is trailing the ACN candidate, Professor Steve Ugbah. Suswam has 19 per cent, while his rival has 72 per cent.

Imo is also endangered for the ruling party as Governor Ikedi Ohakim trails Chief Rochas Okorocha of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). The state is considered too close to call because even though Okorocha polled 34 per cent in the survey, 41 per cent of the voters are still undecided. Ohakim has 14 per cent, while ACN’s Ifeanyi Araraume has 12 per cent.

The battle ground states for governorship, according to the survey, are Kebbi, Zamfara, Kaduna, Borno, Oyo and Delta.

But the PDP remains competitive in Zamfara, where Governor Aliyu Shinkafi leads the pack by 43 per cent, closely pursued by ANPP’s Abdulazeez Yari with 37 per cent.

The PDP is also competitive in Oyo and Kaduna, where it holds narrow margins. In Borno, the poll favours the ruling party. It is too close to call in Delta but the ruling party is very competitive there.

Ipsos is one of the leading pollster companies in the world with more than 30 years of experience researching political attitudes.

It has the most long-term and comprehensive set of polling data of all polling agencies in the world.

We rate data accordingly so that each state will be represented correctly within the total national figure by the census and also by the voter registration. So we used as a waiting measure plus some other factors which we discovered while we went into this and that is how we got the national figures.”

@Violent

I dont support an increase in the minimum wage cause there is no way to enforce it
and secondly studies have shown that minimum wage laws discourage companies from hiring more workers or expanding

Thats one of the reasons south Africa has a 25% Unemployment rate
their rigid labor laws discourage FDI that goes to the real economy

Instead most of their FDI is hot money going into the rand(currency),with no effect on unemployment

First, they are collecting too much information with the form on that site. All they really need is a valid e-mail and may be names. Nobody really wants to leave their phone number on a site with unknown particulars. Many of the links on that site do not work. For example, the World Bank report gives you "404" and you get a lot of gibberish if you click on some of the links on the site. It seems to me that the site has been abandoned since August.

Given that our government is the largest resource owner, and so holds the lifeline to employment creation the place to start is to start patronizing local industries e.g. they recently spent a couple of billions on dustbins to be imported from the U.K.

1. Stop spending money on foreign goods that can be produced in Nigeria. Get local manufacturers to produce such gooods under performance contracts.
2. Cut the spending on the National Assembly to one quarter its current level, and use it as direct loans to local builders, manufacturers and the like.

Why not go to the site and forward your suggestions there, what u wrote above will be more meaningful there

also the site is a new one and i just received my email reply from them after sending in my submissions

If u dont want to fill out all the info u can always give a fake number or not your full name. . .i dont think they verify

Any black person who sees America as home and looks down on Africa, and the African people, or the black person in diaspora, must be reminded who he or she is, a slave son or daughter, beaten and battered, seperated, hated, looked down upon and fed the white man's remnants, that person needs his head examined and his or her butt hole fried with pepper until he or she sees reality.

Any black man, outside AFRICA, REMAINS NOTHING BUT A SLAVE AND THE PRODUCT OF SLAVERY.

Aliko Dangote to lead National Committee on Job Creation

With more than 12 million Nigerians currently unemployed, the federal government has appointed President of Dangote Group of Companies, Alhaji Aliko Dangote to lead National Committee on Job Creation (NCJC) to work out mechanism of creating one million jobs within a year.

Announcing the appointment of Dangote and others into the National Committee on Job Creation, the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Finance, Mr. Danladi Kifasi said the the committee is to examine what other countries (developed, emerging and developing) have done to ensure increased job creation with a new view to developing a pool of possible policy interventions and incentives that will create an environment that is conducive for job creation.

The Committee would also review existing reports on employment generation in Nigeria and outline key findings and recommendations and come up with an Action Plan, encompassing practical and specific interventions for ensuring increased job creation.

Other members of the committee include Ernest Ndukwe, former Executive Vice Chairman, NCC; Maryam Uwais: Principal Partner, Wali-Uwais & Co; Folusho Philips: Executive Chairman, Philips Consulting Group; Stella Okoli, GMD/CEO, Emzor Pharmaceutical Industry Ltd; Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa, Chairman NESG and Prof. Ademola Oyejide: Chairman NEIC.

Other members of the committee include Ibukun Awosika, Entrepreneur; Albert Okumagba, MD BGL PLC; Bashir Yusuf Ibrahim, President Dirham Group; Omobola Johnson: Country Chairman, Accenture; Bukar Tijani, National Coordinator FADAMA/NPAFS; Ausbeth Ajagu, President Academy for Entrepreneurial Study Nigeria, Tunde Obileye MD Great Heights Property & Facilities Management LTD; Tonye Cole: MD Sahara Energy Group and Yemisi Ransome-Kuti: Executive Director Nigeria Network of NGOS-NNNGO.

Recently the Finance Minister, Mr. Olusegun Aganga disclosed that the national unemployment rate has raised annually, from 11.9 per cent in 2005 to 19.7 per cent in 2009. He declared that a special team would be constituted to address the paradox of a growing GDP at the same time as we are witnessing growth in unemployment, which is most severe on youth in urban areas.

A summit was also hosted by the minister where key stakeholders in five sectors of the economy were brought together with the public sector to discuss the barriers to growth and to agree on a pact on what each party has to do to improve the business climate and grow the economy and create jobs. In addition the National Economic Management Team (NEMT) and the World Bank have endorsed a pact with stakeholders in the public and private sector to stem youth unemployment in the country which is becoming a serious challenge to the government.

As for me i will only add that america is the best nation for u to visit or live in,outside of your native land as a black man
only cause the 40million black ppl and other minorities have managed to civilize this nation

in other words NIGERIA>USA>Rest of world

if u must leave your country for whatever misguided reason, then by all means come to america

Like Mandingo told that clown daviddylan,no one cares about u here

u are just a number(social security/Tax ID),thats it

The nation is just one big supply chain, and u are just an expendable piece of the machine

It doesnt matter if u are a mcdonalds worker flipping burgers or u are the manager

well i have since unplugged from that machine. . . .and i see real clearly

For those chasing the so called american dream, know that the federal reserve prints money with a keystroke of the computer

In america money is made from thin air. . .with no backing by GOLD. .

think about that for a minute. . .

and realize the ultimate truth that u will never amount to nothing here

its like u running on a thread mill. . . .getting no where fast

what clowns like david dylan(with a white wife/girlfriend to boot no doubt),fail to realize is that the black americans he loves to castigate are probably the smartest ppl in this country

when a young black kid tells u he is not interested in working for whitey and instead chooses to sling rock, why castigate him?

I would rather stay home and trade stocks online(my choice),but i know where that kid is coming from
cause i know big drug companys like pfizer and merck are nothing but recognized drug dealers

when a black girl has 5kids and gets money from the govt so what?. .
when they were slaves the white man(uncle sam) made money if the black girl had more babies
now that its the turn of uncle sam to pay the black girl for having babies,u castigate her
how ridiculous

while u sweat and huff and puff all day for uncle sam. . .the 1% that own the wealth, and the smart ones that have unplugged from the system are laughing at your ignorant a.s.s

Politics / Those Calling For Jonathan’s Resignation Are Jokers by paddylo1(m): 2:38am On Oct 14, 2010
Those calling for Jonathan’s resignation are jokers

Wednesday, 13 October 2010

Dejo Raimi

Dr Dejo Raimi is former Secretary to Oyo State Government, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and immediate past Pro-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA). In this interview with Assistant Editor Dapo Falade, he described those calling for the impeachment of President Goodluck Jonathan as mischievous and jokers of the year.

WHAT is your take on the ultimatum given to President Goodluck Jonathan to vacate office on alleged grounds of incompetence and non-performance?

Those people making the call are used, old politicians and they have nothing more to offer. They are not in contact with realities any longer. Imagine somebody like Mallam Adamu Ciroma; for how has he been on the scene in this country? He was a minister right from the First and Second Republics. They have used their time; they have used the time of their children and they are now attempting to use the time of their grandchildren, which is not acceptable to anybody.

We have six geopolitical zones in the country now. In the North, we have the North-West, comprising seven states-Sokoto, Zamfara, Kebbi, Kano, Jigawa, Katsina and Kaduna. From this area, how many rulers have we had and for how long? From Sokoto area, we have Alhaji Shehu Shagari, who ruled for four years and some months; Murtala Muhammed (Kano) ruled for six months and Sani Abacha (Kano) ruled for five years. The late Umaru Yar’Adua (Katsina) ruled for more than two years and Muhammadu Buhari, from Katsina, ruled for about two years. All together, this particular zone ruled for over 13 years.

In the North-Central zone, which consists of six states-Niger, Kwara, Kogi, Benue, Plateau and Nasarawa — Ibrahim Babangida, from Niger, ruled for eight years, Yakubu Gowon, from Plateau, ruled for nine years and Abubakar Abdusalam, from Niger, ruled for 11 months. That zone alone ruled for almost 18 years.

Then, the North-East, consisting of Taraba, Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Yobe and Gombe states, have ruled for about seven years, that is, Tafawa Balewa. The combination of these zones had ruled this country for almost 38 years.

When you come to the South, you will see that the South-West, consisting of the  Yoruba states-Lagos, Oyo, Ogun, Ondo, Ekiti and Osun-we have Obasanjo whose first coming was three years and another eight solid years, making 11 years in all. Then, we have Ernest Shonekan who was there for 84 days.

In the South-East, we have Aguiyi-Ironsi who only ruled for six months.

In the South-South, they have not tasted power before the sudden and lucky appearance of Goodluck Jonathan, who has spent four months only.

So, for anybody, who is really not a political joker, to say that a deprived area where they have ruled this country for only four months, should resign, I think that person is only playing politics or is joking. Definitely, such a person cannot be taken seriously.

Secondly, those calling for the resignation of the president are living in the past. When you take Ciroma, Abubakar Atiku, Aliyu Gusau, they still believe that Nigeria remains the same country where one of their leaders once said that they will conquer from the Sahara Desert, right down to the Atlantic Ocean. No, things have changed; people are more educated and they attached importance to good governance. It would have been better if those who have ruled, from the North, have made any substantial achievements.

But their people should ask them questions; I have seen some educated young elements from the North asking, after ruling this country for the whole of 38 years, what have they got to show for it in the North? What anybody can point to is Abuja, which is a collective joint effort of everybody. Don’t forget it was the late Justice Akinola Aguda who led the late Dr Tai Solarin and others to go round to choose a place which is very central to all parts of the country and it was cited there.

So, those calling for President Goodluck Jonathan to resign are either joking, very unserious or they are not facing the present realities. Nigeria of yesteryear is quite different from Nigeria of today. They are either mischievous, playing politics of the past or are very unrealistic and out of touch with present day realities; they are the greatest jokers of the year.
