it sadden me at times when Nigerians sit down and condem their own country without even contributing to the growth of the country. they so call west that we worship, citizen contribute more. yet we want the government to do everything for us. before you blast nigeria as a fail state, ask your self "what is my contributed towards making nigeria great" Nigeria is like a family, if you fail to uplift your family and smthing goes wrong, will you go and blame your neighbour? 80% of nigerians living outside are suffering but they will never tell you the truth. they will prefer to suffer instead of using their little resources to build smthing here. that statistic that says an average nigerian leaves below $1 is so wrong. not too long ago i read one statistics that said in Nasarawa state business venture is more than lagos. do you believe that crap we nigerian should better start contributing to the growth of this nation instead of folding our hands |
DANA before the crash was the best airline in terms of landing and take off. If you have ever use DANA before and other aircraft you will understand. it unfortunate that people lost their lifes. But lets be sincere, all aircraft are prone to crashes even a brand new one, google it. it all about maintenance and being careful. if there are back in operation, i will prefer them to ARIK any time any day. |
please, without sentiment, let me ask, is closing down an airline the best way to handle crashes? most crashes have affected top airlines yet WE NIGERIANS still fly them. The era of killing an airline becasue of an accident doesnt show any sense of seriousness on the part of our country. British Airways has recorded more crashes than Dana air, and is still the number one choice of Britons and Nigerians. Air France recorded more devastating crashes than Bellview, Sosoliso and ADC combined yet still flies the skies with Nigerians flying in them. Its not more than 3yrs ago that a fully loaded Airfrance plane disappeared from radar and crashed into the ocean on its way from Brazil to France killing ALL on board? Or the Ethiopian airlines? Or Kenyan Airways? Lets not be too emotional about this. yes, Lives were lost, but the lessons should be learnt from this accident to improve our aviation sector not kill it completely. I still believe if an airline does not adhere to safety rules and regulations, it should be forced to do so. however, if it shows adequate proof to show that it is serious about behaving itself, then let them fly, afterall, the consumer (commuter) will determine what happens to such an airline. Bellview was allowed to fly despite having a more fatal accident than ADC and the consumer power KILLED the airline slowly but surely. Lets try to be objective as much as possible ..... the most sensible wrote up. FGN did well |

A first hand experience I did my Industrial Attachment at this site (LAWMA) in 2001. It was really an eye opener for me. When we started cos we were 3 from my school to this site. The stench was something else and we were given nose mask and all they people there told us was that with time, we wont even notice the stench. This later prove true. This was the place i got my inspiration for my undergraduate project from. Reporting here for 3 months every morning gave me all the practical experience for my project defence and the knowledge that these waste were burnt but caught fire as a result of menthane gas from decomposition. I also got to appreciate the work that LAWMA was doing. Back to the guys there, alot of them make so much money from this site. We got to chat with lots of them who were ready to share their experience with us. When they are arriving at the site in the morning, they are well dressed but would later change to their work cloth. Was really impressed then when I met with one that was a year 3 student then in Unilag, when asked what he was doing there and why this choice, all he told me then was that "there is dignity in labour". That was his source of income for school and was saving towards travelling abroad upon completion of school. The first picture showed this guy amongst empty can drink, one that was asked then told me he exports his to Mali(these empty can-aluminum) . Why Mali was my question, he complained that they were not making much from the Nigeria aluminum companies or they werent even buying from them. There were other bigger players, there is this lady that had her own place there, she was into industrial waste from the textile firm, there was another that handled attachment, all these women I learnt had children and property abroad. there was Alhaji's corner who deals with hotel waste. he had several worker under his employment and used to come there with several cars. The boys told us that they sometimes get lucky while picking the waste, they could come around bundle of money stolen and hid in the dustbin but the trucks have gone to cart away before the stealer realises. Actually meant one that discovered dollars but went and squandered it living at Sherton and women and so back there. This is getting to long, all I am saying is that these boys are making money from this place. |

I just saw the Advert and some days back i think over the weekend I heard a press release by the minister of information on this demanding that Sonyshould apologise for the advert. I have just been wondering for those that are in support of the advert, it is like someone branding you a thief and you accept the name tag just because your brother(s) is a thief. Some of those scammer's emails are so very glaring that they are scam mails and one decided to go ahead and do the business and when you get your fingers burnt you blame anyone. Most of them are very greedy. For instance you get a mail saying that he is the "minister of petroleum" and there is business for you do and from all indictations that so call biz will end up defrauding a nation's treasury and you still go ahead to do with it. Who will you now blame for being a mugu. We all blame the government for the bad image but as a individual what little effort are you making to stop this. Government cant certainly not do all for us. If we on our part stop accepting to be branded all those negetive things and start saying good things about ourselves it will be a step in the right direction. |
