mohit247: @PalmTree..Opportunities abound! But my professional advice is not to branch off but introduce GIS to your specialization. It takes a lot to be a GIS expert (Structured knowledge and years of technical experience in several fields) I will send you our basic GIS module with the option of Remote Sensing. You got mail. Thanks |
theSpark: Please GiS gurus, I am working on my project and will need satellite images of a village outside minna Niger State for the years 2006, 2010, and 2014. Where do I get such images and how do I get it for free if possible.Depends on the type of imagery you want to utilize. The type of imagery also depends on what the project is all about which I'm guessing is about Urban Sprawl or Land Use. Low resolution imagery (LandSat Tm or Etm) could be downloaded on global land cover website but the problem is its technicalities. The landsat has about 7 bands each with it's own function. However, you can get a high resolution imagery for free if you download the google earth software and connect to the internet. Hope I have been able to assist. Do not hesitate to ask for more clarification. Regards. |

You guys should chill right! It's like a batch thing I suppose. They will still call another set. My friend won't tell me more. So that's all for now. For those who are disappointed in the remuneration, well, it's what it is. That's Naija for you. |
GIS is wide. So for starters, I'll say you should get acquainted with the basics. Then you can progress from there. Also what's your discipline or perhaps your I.T related passion? |
Guys, just a little heads up for candidates awaiting interviews. There are 2 stages of interviews, One is group based. If you scale through this stage, then you'll be invited for another individual based chat. From what I gathered, you don't need to show "ITK" ( I too Know) during the group stage! Don't be hyperactive, they know the traits they want in you so trying to impress at this stage can be suicidal. Just go with the flow and try to show that you are a team player. You might be asked to select a leader, If you feel you have had leadership roles before, you can assume the role otherwise, just fit into the team and offer tips/ideas politely. However, do not allow a silly or unintelligent person be your group leader because whatever the group scores will be used for all of you. Just be smart, give ideas but please, display teamwork! It's the main thing they wanna see. |
Toyde: av u worked wt dem before? No, but I know a lot about them. A colleague works for their HR consultants. |
The pay is actually #40k but with a tax deduction of #3k and a telephone allowance of another 3k. They also have a good health scheme similar to the NHIS. Although the job involves a constant presence on the field as you will be disbursing loans to people who meet the bank's requirement and also ensure prompt repayment as agreed, I think it's better than staying idle. If you are chanced, make it a date. |
mikeyj: Anyways, i went for the interview and turned out to be practical joke! the building very dirty and looks like a cyber cafe. another wast of money lolThanks for the update. Many people will come to NL for info but will hoard the little they have. If the OP actually went for the interview and updated like you did, you wouldn't have fallen victim. I'm proud of you. You'll get a wonderful job soon. |

I am a GIS specialist. Feel free to ask me anything about GIS, GPS and Remote Sensing. |
akmuller: I just got a job in a food manufacturing company. My only fear is that I was told a would sign a legal bond entailing that I won't leave the company until after a year. This is Because I will be trained for a month. I am stil searching for a better job and optimistic that one would come. So if I get a better job, can I leave dis job after signing the bond without any great consequence? How would you feel if your employers fire you because they found a better employee? Anyways to answer your question, a legal action will most probably be brought against your person as it is contained in the bond document signed by you. It's just a single year bond, face the job and acquire all the knowledge and experience that it offers...who knows? You might discover that you have already found your "better" job. |
