I will assume that you are a GIS person, the first step into freelancing is to discern your target market. Prepare a business card (shouldn't cost you more than 3k) you can use your home as your office address. Be modest with your pricing but ensure it doesn't hurt you or undermine the value of your work. You can create a network of GIS analysts to keep up with current market trends. Ensure you deliver on time and never reject a job no matter how small.

GIS is in very hot demand by several industries and individual in the academic. Decisions are now being made based on more precise information that can be supplied by a GIS. Unfortunately, only few individuals truly understand and can use this technology and as such they can either get jobs in various NGOs, Government agencies/ministries, Research companies, Oil and Telecoms. However, some choose to freelance, supplying their much coveted services for a fee. I am not saying we should not hope for white collar jobs, all I'm saying is that we should also consider learning a skill. As a layman, you need to know that a GIS is a system that includes a software, hardware, intelligently acquired data and well trained personnel which will all be channeled into solving human problems. You should also know that 98% of elements that affect humanity can be spatially referenced, and by this I mean the elements have a distinct location. Take for example, where you live- no other building can occupy that space while your house is still standing there. This means I can refer to your house using an address! However, in Geoinformatics, addresses aren't needed, co-ordinates are. Co-ordinates are the combination of the lines of longitude and latitude that point directly to the current position of a particular object on the earth surface.
Now that you know what a GIS is, I will now move on to Abuja GIS. AGIS is an agency saddled with the task of co-ordinating and managing landed properties within the FCT. Hence they commissioned a customized GIS that has been cushioned with a robust database of all land parcels, their area, estimated/current cost, current owner, approved usage type etc. This will enable the agency manage and enforce the government policy as regards landed properties within the FCT.

Geoinformatics has been described as the science and
technology dealing with the structure and character of spatial
information, its capture, its classification and qualification,
its storage, processing, portrayal and dissemination,
including the infrastructure necessary to secure optimal use

I assume you are referring to my post above yours. This is GIS and apart from the data capture technique which includes a GPS handheld device, Aerospace survey method and also Remote sensing techniques, all other are computer based. Remote sensing technique involves satellite imagery from satellites installed in outer space while Air-photos are taken when helicopters or airplanes fly over an area. You will be exposed to the use of the GPS and also 2 software packages will be installed on your laptop for onward practical based training. We do not own any satellites or airplanes but we have extensive data from recent photos that will be used in the training session. We are currently based in Ibadan. You wanted to study econs but you were offered bizadmin. Ok! If you switch to econs, does your school have a policy on that? In some institutions, you can switch to econs and still maintain your 2nd year status. For me they are both good courses but it appears you prefer econs becos if you have fallen in luv wit bizad, you won't still want to forgo 2yrs for econs. Let me know your schools policy first.
