I think you should try and read Achebe's There was a country. According to him Major kaduna Nzeogwu plotted the coup to rid the country of corrupt politicians and planned to give an explanation, unfortunately the coup in Lagos failed so they were not able to use the Nigerian broadcasting corp. This is spot-on. It took all of my cranial nerves to grasp the info being passed, I guess the compiler or translator is too good with English grammar.
