Arsenal are hoping to tie down striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to a new contract before the Premier League season starts. According to The Mirror, Aubameyang has agreed a new £250,000-per-week deal with the Gunners in a huge boost for Mikel Arteta with the club hoping to announce the deal ahead of their season opener against Fulham. Arteta also wants to keep right-sided player Ainsley Maitland-Niles with Wolves showing an interest in the 23-year-old. The academy graduate has three years left on his deal at the Emirates and recently celebrated his first call-up for the England senior team. If he agrees to stay at Arsenal, he could be rewarded with a new, improved contract. Goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez is another player Arteta is desperate to keep ahead of the new season. The Argentine was picked ahead of usual first-choice stopper Bernd Leno in the Community Shield victory against Liverpool on Saturday. A superb finish from Aubameyang in the 12th minute was cancelled out my a second half goal from Takumi Minamino for the Reds. Arsenal won the match after the penalty shootout, as Rhian Brewster struck the crossbar and every Gunners penalty taker found the back of the net. Stopper Martinez made it clear after the club's FA Cup triumph, in which he featured throughout the tournament, that he wants to fight for the No 1 jersey. Aston Villa have shown interest however Arteta wants to keep both Martinez and Maitland-Niles for next season and fund the cash they need for their summer rebuild from other players in the club. The Gunners are close to completing a £27m deal for Lille defender Gabriel and have also targeted Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey whilst they continue to have talks with Real Madrid over a new loan deal for Dani Ceballos. Defender Rob Holding is set to leave the Emirates and join Newcastle on loan, whilst Matteo Guendouzi could be sold after falling out of the picture in the latter stages of last season.

Arturo Vidal has called on Barcelona to change their mindset. The Catalan club have insisted that major changes will be made after the shock 8-2 defeat by Bayern Munich in the Champions League, "Barcelona have done things that don't fit with a team at the top level," Vidal told La Tercera. "In the end, you realise this when you face an organised team, a team that has a winning mentality, with players that are physically prepared and that has a very strong game plan. "That takes its toll when you're weak in the head and in energy - that happened to us. "Barcelona first have to change the way they think because football has evolved a lot. "DNA is being left behind and other teams are improving in other aspects. "Nowadays, football is more physical, more about strength and speed, and technical ability can sometimes come second. "Barcelona have to change lots of things. "A club, which I think is the best in the world, can't have 13 professional players and the rest youngsters. "Not because they don't deserve to be there, but they have to be competing with the best and with who has to play. "Every club has 23 players fighting for a place, improving and getting better every day. "But when they don't progress, when you think you can always win with your DNA, that's when you're mistaken." The Chilean also touched on Lionel Messi's situation after the Argentine's transfer request. "There are lots of good players. We have Messi, who is the number one and is an alien, but he needs help," Vidal added. "He needs players that improve the team and that get better results." https://m.allfootballapp.com/news/Headline/Vidal-Barcelona-have-to-change-lots-of-things-you-cant-win-with-your-DNA/2429446 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sLRMopg7Bfc

Mikel Arteta: Confident Arsenal Striker Will Commit His Future https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OEcySMRpEPo |
Mikel Arteta remains positive over Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's future after his leading contribution in Arsenal's Community Shield shootout win over Liverpool. Aubameyang fired the Gunners to their second Wembley triumph of the month as Arteta's side overcame the Premier League champions in the traditional season curtain-raiser. August started with the Gabon forward inspiring the Gunners to a record 14th FA Cup win and ended with him wrapping up another morale-boosting victory. Doubts remain over the striker's future with the 31-year-old's current contract set to expire in less than 12 months but talks are ongoing. Arteta said: "I keep saying the same thing [on Aubameyang's future]. I try to do my job which is to convince him that he's at the right place and the right environment here to produce moments like he's done today and he did here just three weeks ago. I am very positive that he's going to sign. There are a lot of things that are involved in a contract deal and we're trying to solve them. "I'm not worried [about the situation with Aubameyang. We can only try to do as much as possible to convince the player or tell them what we think about him. We can put all the cards on the table to try to keep him here but afterwards it's down to the player and the agent to agree to that. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OEcySMRpEPo https://www.skysports.com/amp/football/news/11670/12059159/pierre-emerick-aubameyang-mikel-arteta-confident-arsenal-striker-will-commit-his-future |
Messi parade held in Rosario as Newell's Old Boys fans beg him to return https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PFzjmSSYBK8 |
Messi parade held in Rosario as Newell's Old Boys fans beg him to return Newell's Old Boys supporters are doing everything they can to ambitiously persuade wantaway Barcelona star Lionel Messi to return to the club. Messi sent shockwaves throughout football on Tuesday after informing Spanish giants Barcelona, via fax, that he wants to leave the club on a free transfer this summer. Manchester City have since sensationally emerged as front-runners for his signature but Newell's fans' certainly haven't given up hope of the six-time Ballon d'Or winner coming back to his boyhood club - where he spent his youth between 1994 to 2000. The club's supporters flocked to the streets of Rosario in their numbers to put on a colourful parade in their bid to tempt Messi back to Argentina. 'Your dream, our desire', was a recurring slogan spotted as the supporters let off red and black flares and proudly waved the club's flag aloft while donning multiple forms of Messi merchandise during what was an electric atmosphere. Messi came through the youth ranks at Newell's Old Boys between the years of 1994 to 2000 before eventually making the move to Barcelona a year later, where his career incredibly took off. During his time at the Nou Camp, Messi has scored an astonishing 634 goals and created 285 assists in 731 appearances for the Spanish giants. But he has now remarkably decided it's time for a fresh challenge after growing increasingly frustrated with the Barcelona hierarchy. Right now it appears very unlikely that Messi would return to Rosario and the club's head of their English supporters club, Jamie Ralph, admitted that is the case. 'Personally I think it's a bit too soon, but what people need to understand is that Newell's have a bit of a track record of pulling flagship signings out of nowhere, and that's why people think it's not that impossible,' Ralph said. 'Diego Maradona was at Sevilla in Spain – he was only 33, so he was the same age as Messi – and he came back and signed for Newell's, which was unbelievable at the time. This was the year before the '94 World Cup. 'There's this real feeling that for players who come through the club, money doesn't matter, it's really the feeling to come back and play for their shirt again in front of the fans and really feel that you're part of that club again. 'There's a bit of romanticism going on. I do think Messi will play for Newell's one day, but personally think it's a little bit too soon.' Meanwhile, Newell's vice-president Cristian D'Amico recently expressed his hope that Messi will one day don the club's colours again. 'I don't know if it is impossible. It is all up to him and his family,' D'Amico told TNT Sports. 'As directors we have to provide the best context possible to help him make a decision. When Maradona came to Newell's nobody thought he could come. I hope that something similar can happen with Leo. 'Obviously we shouldn't be making things up, this is a delicate subject. What Newell's doesn't dream of seeing the world's best player in their team's colours? Time will tell maybe, we have to stay calm.' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PFzjmSSYBK8 https://m.allfootballapp.com/news/Transfers/Messi-parade-held-in-Rosario-as-Newells-Old-Boys-fans-beg-him-to-return/2427930

Paris Saint-Germain have been told by Lionel Messi's father that the Barcelona captain wants to join Manchester City this summer, according to reports. The Argentinian star shocked the world this week when he told Barcelona that he wants to leave the club after 16 years and over 600 goals for the first-team. Messi could even leave the LaLiga giants on a free transfer if he wins a legal battle to get a clause in his contract activated to let him walk away for nothing. And according to French news outlet L'Equipe, Paris Saint-Germain approached the player's father, Jorge, over a potential move but Messi Senior responded by stating that the player wants to move to Manchester City. https://m.allfootballapp.com/news/Headline/Lionel-Messis-father-tells-PSG-that-his-son-wants-to-move-to-Manchester-City/2428189

Angry Barcelona Fans Burst Into Camp Nou Protesting Against Bartomeu https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uAPwHEtcjRM |
Jurgen Klopp says he would love to sign Lionel Messi for Liverpool, but the finances involved mean the Reds have "no chance" of landing the Barcelona superstar. Messi remains at loggerheads with the club he has called home for almost 20 years, with a transfer demanded in the wake of what he sees as broken promises. Barca were embarrassed 8-2 by Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals of the Champions League earlier this month, and have now replaced manager Quique Setien with the former Southampton and Everton boss Ronald Koeman. Messi is being hotly-tipped for a move to Manchester City this summer, and when quizzed over whether he would like to add him to his Liverpool squad Klopp responded as many would expect him to. "Yeah, who doesn't want Messi in their team?" said the Reds boss ahead of the Premier League champions' Community Shield clash against Arsenal at Wembley on Saturday. "But no chance. The numbers are absolutely not for us. But... good player to be honest!" Klopp went even further and cast doubt on City's move for the star, perhaps wondering if even they had the finances required to pull off the deal. "It [signing Messi] will obviously help Man City and make it more difficult to beat them," said Klopp. "For the Premier League, it would be great, that would help, but I am not sure the Premier League needs that boost. "He's never played in another league. Football is different here. I'd like to see it. Not sure I will." Klopp was also quizzed on his plans in the transfer market with the Reds having only brought in Greek defender Kostas Tsimikas this summer. "We bought players in already!" he said. "Kostas, the kids are getting closer and look well. I don't know what will happen. "There is a long time to go until (the window shuts on) October 5th. We will deal with our situation like we always have. We will see how much we can or want to spend." https://m.allfootballapp.com/news/Headline/Jurgen-Klopp-admits-he-would-be-interested-in-signing-Lionel-Messi-for-Liverpool/2428137 |

Former football star Ronaldinho arrived home in Brazil on a private jet on Tuesday, following more than five months in detention in Paraguay over a fake passport scandal. The former Ballon d'Or winner arrived at Rio de Janeiro's international airport from Paraguay's capital Asuncion just before 4:30 pm (1930 GMT.) A judge on Monday released Ronaldinho, 40, and his brother, who had both been held for a month in jail and another four months under house arrest in a hotel in Asuncion. The brothers arrived in Paraguay on March 4 because Ronaldinho was due to take part in an event in support of disadvantaged children. However, two days later, the pair were taken into police custody when investigators raided their hotel following the discovery they had fake documents. The former World Cup winner is now "free to travel to whatever country in the world he wants but he must inform us if he changes his permanent residence" for a period of one year, the judge said. "He has no restrictions except for the fulfilment of reparations for damage to society." Dressed in jeans, a black beret and black shirt at Monday's court hearing, Ronaldinho accepted the terms of his release, which include payment of $90,000 in damages. His brother Roberto de Assis Moreira, who is also Ronaldinho's business manager, must pay $110,000. The judge stressed that he was not issuing a "definitive dismissal" of the case but that Ronaldinho was benefitting from a "conditional suspension of the procedure." His brother was given a two-year suspended sentence. - 'Vilely deceiv Prosecutors said they did not believe Ronaldinho took part in the plan to manufacture the fake Paraguayan passports but believed de Assis Moreira was aware that the passports were false. The story of Bayern Muchen's left back, Alphonso Davies, is quite different. This is because, unlike other players with a grass to grace story, Alphonso seem to not just move from grass but from the survival phase to be a world star. His troublesome beginnings never gave him reasons to quit, he fought hard and today, he is enjoying the fruit of his labor. Alphonso Boyle Davies is a Canadian professional soccer player who plays as awinger for Bundesliga club, Bayern Munich and the Canada national team; although he was born to Liberian Refugee parents. The rarity of Davies goes well beyond the coincidence of his Canadianness and his exceptional control of a football. Because before he was from Canada, he was from Ghana, and also from Liberia and also form no where. His life journey began at Buduburam, a sprawling refugee camp, about thirty miles outside of the Ghanaian capital of Accra. His parents, Victoria and Debeah, were from Liberia and after surviving their country's first civil war that raged for eight years (1989-1997) and saw an estimated 250,000 people lose their lives. Like so many others, they were forced to flee their home in Monrovia and seek refuge anywhere they could. In Ghana, they were blessed with a first child, Alphonso, in 2000 but were still in a state of flux, unsure of what the future had in store and cold only watch as their homeland was brought to its knees. They were based in Buduburam refugee camp for years. The search for clean water, food, simply staying alive; every hour that passed a triumph of survival. The family applied for resettlement in Canada and in 2016, they arrived to a temporary home in Windsor, just across the lake from Detroit. In Canada, at the age of 5, Davies carried on playing football as he had always done back at the refugee camp. A teacher at his Catholic junior school in Edmonton saw him dominate in playground knockabout and enrolled him in a free-of-charge, inner-city league. Then youth coach after coach passed him up the development ladder, propelling him on to bigger stages than each could provide, until he entered the Vancouver Whitecaps youth system and broke into the senior side of Whitecaps FC 2, which compete in the second tier USL Championship league in the United States, at the age of 15. Under coach Marco Bossio, he blossomed. Quickly, Bossio realized Davies was a rare find and began to relentlessly call the Vancouver Whitecaps to try and whip up some interest. Finally, they invited him for a residency trial and the rest is history. At the time of his signing, he became the youngest player signed to a USL contract at 15 years, 5 months in April 2016. On May, 2016, he scored his first professional goal, making him the youngest goal scorer in USL history at 15 years, 6 months. He scored two goals in 11 games during the 2016 season. Davies was named to the Whitecaps roster for the 2016 Canadian Championship on a short term contract. On July 15, 2016, Davies signed a first team contract with the Whitecaps through 2018, with options for the 2019 and 2020 seasons. Davies made his MLS debut on July 16, 2016 becoming the second youngest player to play in MLS, behind Freddy Adu. During the 2016 season, Davies played in eight MLS games. Following impressive early MLS appearances, Davies attracted interest and was scouted by European clubs including Manchester United, Chelsea, and Liverpool, and was also named one of the 60 best young soccer talents in the world in 2017. Davies was named the Vancouver Whitecaps FC player of the Year on October 2018, and also received the Whitecaps Goal of the Year award. Just two years later, Bayern Munich stumped up $14 million for Davies, and on the evidence of his sparkling performances at left-back this season, that was a bargain price. On July 25, 2018, Vancouver announced that it had agreed to a multi-million-dollar transfer of Davies to Bundesliga club Bayern Munich. From a kid born in a refugee camp back in Ghana, this kid has managed to keep his head up and now he plays in one of the best and biggest team in Europe, alongside the best set of football players as teammates; and against some of the best football players football has ever seen.He is now a cult hero in his hometown, Vancouver, and I believe to most of the kids in the Buduburam refugee camp, back in Ghana. I hope Davies' survival story inspires you whenever you come across any form adversity, or if you are currently facing one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=syew2qOW8As |
1. Georgino Wijnaldum The Dutchman had started up front in the first leg of the match against Barcelona that saw Liverpool hammered 3-0. For the second leg, he was on the bench, losing his position to James Milner, who played in midfield. However, injury to left-back, Andy Robertson, saw Jurgen Klopp call on the services of the Dutchman, and that marked one of the best matches played at Anfield. Wijnaldum scored the second goal for Liverpool a few minutes after coming on, after a cross on the left from Xherdan Shaqiri, to make it 2-0. It didn't take long before Wijnaldum leveled the match on aggregate to make it 3-3. Liverpool won the game, through Divock Origi. However, the goals from Wijnaldum remain an important part of Liverpool history. 2. Mario Gotze The former Bayern star scored one of the most iconic goals in German football history. The 2014 world cup in Brazil saw two nations square up against each other - Germany v Argentina. The match had gone into extra time and seemed like it would end in penalties, as both teams were missing important changes in the game, and were unable to make the best of the chances they had. However, Joachim Low's decision to bring on Mario Gotze proved to be a moment of genius, as the then Bayern star comes off the bench for Miroslav Klose and slot the ball into the back of the net, after a pass from Andre Schurrle. The goal proved to be an important one, as Germany ended up as world champions. 3. Gareth Bale The Welshman wasn't on the good books of Real Madrid manager, Zidane, as he could only find a place on the bench, with the manager preferring Isco. With the match at 1-1, Zidane decided to bring on Bale, and the winger was instrumental to the win, coming on to score twice for the Madrid team. His first was an iconic bicycle kick, that flew past Liverpool goalkeeper, Loris Karius. His second was from outside the box, which the goalkeeper couldn't save, and could only parry the ball into the back of the net. The match ended 3-1, with Real Madrid being crowned UEFA champions league champions for the third time in a row - a record. 4. Eder The Euro 2016 final was almost a "David v Goliath" situation as Portugal squared up against France. Injury to Portugal star man, Cristiano Ronaldo, made the game seem like it would be more difficult for the Portuguese side, with the odds now seemingly bleak. The Portuguese coach decided to bring on Eder, for Renato Sanches during the second half, possibly to see the game go into penalties, as their backs were against the wall. Eder coming on will end up being a masterstroke, as the Portuguese forward scored the winner via a powerful shot from almost twenty yards, putting the ball past the french goalkeeper, Hugo Lloris, and crowing Portugal champions. 5. Robert Lewandoski This game highlighted how deadly Robert Lewandoski can be. In a Bundesliga match against Wolfsburg, Pep Guardiola decided to rest the Polish captain. However, things didn't go according to plan, as Bayern Munich were 1-0 down against Wolfsburg. Pep Guardiola decided to send on Robert Lewandowski in place of Thiago Alcantara, hoping he would define the game. The substitution proved to me a masterclass, as Lewandoski scored all five goals by the 60th minute, to put Bayern 5-1 up - in eight minutes and 59 seconds. His goal scoring feat saw him become the fastest scorer of three, four and five goals in Bundesliga history. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eMr8JLNKtcQ There have been a lot of good substitutions that made changes in football history, is any missing from the list? leave your thoughts in the comments.
