There are always possibilities of having one's brother/sister (siblings at large) to be in the same profession with you, and more often than not, people find it adorable. Since football is also a profession (even though it's a sport), it means siblings can have the same passion to play football.

The majority of football played over the last 12 months has been forced to be played without any supporters in attendance due to the coronavirus pandemic, and the Portuguese is looking forward to playing with an audience again.

"I have to be honest, playing in empty stadiums is boring," Cristiano Ronaldo said at the Globe Soccer Awards, as part of a conversation with Robert Lewandowski and Iker Casillas.

"I respect all of the protocol, because of course health comes first, but I don't like it. I do it because I love football, it's my passion.

"I play for my family, for my children, for my friends, for my fans, but I don't like playing like this. It's very difficult.

"I like to hear people shouting. Seeing people and other players scream out from all over the world motivates me. I hope that in 2021 the rules change and we can see stadiums full again because football without fans is nothing."

Should the Juventus forward score a goal in 2021, which is more than likely, he will become the first player to score in 23 consecutive years, which he wasn't aware of before Sunday's ceremony.

"I didn't know about that," Cristiano Ronaldo admitted. "It's a pleasure to break these records, win these titles and everything else.

"It's not easy to be at the top for so long. I'm proud. It's not possible unless you have a great team around you and a great coach."

Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed he likes it when people boo him and finds playing without fans "boring".

Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, spectators have generally been unable to attend games across Europe with some exceptions. 

At Juventus over the past several months, Ronaldo has had to get used to playing in empty stadiums and was even sidelined temporarily after himself testing positive for Covid-19.

As someone who channels the good and bad energy from fans, the 35-year-old conceded he misses the boos just as much as the applause. 

"For me I have to be honest, to play in an empty stadium is boring in my opinion. We, the players, respect all the protocol and health is the most important thing of all, of course, but I don't like it, to be honest," Ronaldo said at the Globe Soccer Awards on Sunday. 

"I do it first of all because I love football. My passion is always football. I play for my family, my kids, my friends, the fans. But I don't like it, to be honest. It's so weird. 

"I like when people boo Cristiano. When I touch the ball they 'boo', I like it. I hope in 2021 they can change the rules and we can see the stadiums full of people."

Football legend Diego Maradona has died at the age of 60. The former Argentina attacking midfielder and manager had successful surgery on a brain blood clot earlier in November.



Maradona is widely regarded as one of the greatest football players of all time, and by many as the greatest ever. He was one of the two joint winners of the FIFA Player of the 20th Century award.

In his international career with Argentina, he earned 91 caps and scored 34 goals. Maradona played in four FIFA World Cups, including the 1986 World Cup in Mexico where he captained Argentina and led them to victory over West Germany in the final, and won the Golden Ball as the tournament's best player. Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk has called for calm after seeing his side suffer a humiliating 7-2 defeat at the hands of Aston Villa in the Premier League on Sunday. 

Jurgen Klopp's side were humbled away from home by Villa, who scored four goals in the first 45 minutes and wrapped up the win despite having just 30 per cent of possession across the match. 

This was the first time the Reds have conceded seven goals in any competitive game since 1963, while they are the first reigning English top-flight champions to ship so many goals in a league match since Arsenal did so against Sunderland in 1953.
