Politics / Re: Lagos State To Get 24/7 Hours Electricity Supply By 2018 – Ambode by PapaBrowne(m): 7:58am On Nov 20, 2017 |
The thinking is just on point. The FG is the clog in the wheel of Nigeria's progress. Bypass them and you would see success. Ambode is thinking of Lagos seperately from Nigeria and thats why you are seeing the kind of progress. If Lagos has 24 hrs power, hmmm! The kind of GDP increase the state would experience ehn!! The funniest part about this is that Ambode is actually doing his job as Lagos state governor wonderfully. But he isn't stopping there. He is actually taking on Fashola's ministerial job and doing it ten times better and proving Fashola to be a terrible failure!! 2 Likes 1 Share |

opuambe: Nobody is interested in oppressing any law abiding Ijaws in Edo State. Ijaws are a part and parcel of Edo State and have been from time immemorial. But any criminals coming from far away States to derail the seaport project would be dealt with severely. Why would a people be so backward. It's just terrible. If anything good wants to be built, political Ijaws would just want to disrupt it. That's how the Oil and Gas free zone which was to be built in Escravos was derailed because of the stupid argument that they chose to have with itsekiri. Now Jonathan left and the project that would have created thousands upon thousands of jobs has been abandoned. The Brass LNG project also has been abandoned. Not a single project in anywhere Ijaws dominate because the Ijaw elite are selfish and are fine with depriving the ijaw populace of development . Bayelsa with all its allocation is probably the worst state in the South. It appears like the political Ijaw are the Northern elite of Southern Nigeria. NB Most Ijaws I know personally are some of the most wonderful personalities you would come across. And I know a lot. My reference to Ijaws here is to the political elite that forment trouble @ every opportunity for development. Like every tribe there is the loudest mouths that stereotypically represent the crowd. Like Edo women have the stereotypical image of Italian prostitution. 123 Likes 11 Shares |
Culture / Re: Coronation Of Godwin Oguyenbo As The Pere Of Olodiama Kingdom Edo Causes Tension by PapaBrowne(m): 2:33pm On Nov 16, 2017 |
If you understand the dynamics of the whole Gelegele issue, you will pity the backwardness of some people. Let me explain the narrative. Gelegele is the only access Edo state has to the ocean. It has been a territory under the Benin kingdom from time immemorial. That's where the British usually pass to come visit Benin and those who know about the Benin expedition can relate. Now like most communities in Benin, other tribes come in and are given the freedom to farm or fish within the Benin territory but do so under the purview of an Enogie- the palace representative. That principle has existed in Gelegele ever since without qualms. Recently, something interesting is happening in Edo. There is a new forward thinking Oba and a new visionary Governor. They came in at the same time last year. They sat together and decided that Edo needs a Seaport to drive a new industrialization plan. And some folks just don't want to see progress so they decided to look for trouble over what has never been an issue. I might just have to conclude that the Ijaws are anti progress. The only thing this unnecessary trouble making can cause is to scare away investors. It's just a pity how backward a people can be. Royalty and Kingship is not about crowns. It's about authority. 13 Likes 2 Shares |

Business / Re: Nigeria’s CBN Is Printing Money To Keep The Govt Afloat & Alarms Are Ringing. by PapaBrowne(m): 10:18am On Oct 04, 2017 |
The greatest heist in Nigeria's history s currently taking place under this administration. Many people don't understand economics so they can't appreciate the massive loot that is taking place. Let me simplify whaat this article has said with a simple narrative. Basically, the FG printing money from the CBN just like in the days of Abacha. But its criminal to do that, so they found a way around it. The TSA account does belong to the FG. It belongs to all parastatals and institutions under the FG's purview. It's just simply a central account for the purposes of transperency and control. What's happening is that FG is now using the TSA account as collateral to get the CBN to print money for it. To understand this, imagine for a moment that the TSA is like an OSUSU account where a group of people come together to save their money. The person that is saddled with the responsibility of managing the funds, chooses to use the money as collateral to obtain a loan for himself. This is absolutely criminal. There many questions that prove the heist that is ongoing. 1)Subsidy savings: Where is all the money that has been saved from the scrapping of subsidy. I'm talking trillions here. No account of whats happening with all that savings. The previous government implemented Sure-P and gave regular updates of the savings they reieved from the price increase. In my estimations, over the last 2 years, there have been over 2 Trillion Naira in subsidy savings. Where is all that mone?? Massive increase in debts both local and foreign: Have you seen the spike in Nigeria's debt profile in the last 2 years?? We have borrowed over 8 Trillion Naira in the last 2 years. Jonathan left 12 Trillion in debts. It is now over 20 Trillion. What did they do with 8 Trillion. If we spend just 1 trillion naira on infrastructure, we would have smooth roads across the country. Lekki Epe expressway was ridiculously expensive at 1 Billion Naira per km. If we use that as a benchmark, I trillion Naira would build 1000km of superb expressway. That is the distance between Lagos to Kaduna of six lane expressway. And I'm talking of just 1 Trillion. Not 8 Trillion. Its just sad!! The list is endless!! It is trhe greatest heist the nation has ever seen. But we would just look the other way since we are all too dull to comprehend. 22 Likes 3 Shares |

Can we use some of the money to find, beat up, prosecute and lock up the first person that raised the false alarm that this physically challenged man is a ritualist. Can we also find those people that beat him up in anyway without any evidence of a crime and send them to sambisa with the same arms they used in beating this man to go and fight boko haram. 2 Likes |

Malawian: I get your point very well. But I can tell you categorically why Igbos tend to trade certain goods better than others. Let me ask you a question, would an Igbo man be more successful at selling suya than a Hausa man? The answer is no and the reason is networks. Networks are built over decades and certain tribes have built better comparative advantages in certain fields than other tribes and vice versa. Igbos have a network of importers that span the globe and so are first in line to get the best goods at the best prices when it comes to imports. There are also other factors of collaboration that Ibos deploy as well as the mentorship system that are all cultural anecdotes that would always make the Ibo man thrive in business. Also if you look at the Hausa man, they control the food trade because they have a massive network of farmers that only them can reach hence they can provide prices of foodstuffs that no other tribe an effectively provide. 7 Likes 1 Share |

Malawian: God shines the sun on all tribes. He also ensures that all tribes have access to air to breathe. Culture is what determines tribal success. Ibos have an radical entrepreneurial culture and the ephemeral components of that radicalism is what bequeaths success to many Ibos. But then again, that same reason why Ibos are successful individually is the same reason why they have failed on a collective scale. 1 Like 1 Share |

Campusity: Based on your logic everybody is then magnanimous as the Ibos have become millionaires everywhere from Lagos to Port Harcourt to Abuja to Kano. If it was about magnanimity as you want us to believe, why don't others own 90% of the hotels in Abuja or the building materials or eletronic shops? Or was the magnanimity extended only to the Ibos? 19 Likes 2 Shares |

Gerrard59: No bro its not taking a while. Yellow Taxi is dead in Lagos. Uber's(and others) better services have killed it. And Lagos will be glad to attend its funeral. Its a no brainer. With taxis, the driver is undocumented so there is the security factor. Taxis are 2 times more expensive than Uber. Uber is super comfy. Your driver has a map so you ain't getting lost. And more importantly, you don't have to walk under the hot sun to go hail a cab. I am surprised there are still some yellow abs left in Lagos. In Abuja its a different tale as Uber has struggled because Taxis have always been super cheap. 5 Likes |
