Good day to you boss, i'm currently studying in a Uk university, also about to begin the process of a US visit/tourist visa, i am very confuse as regards how much needs to be in the bank account to be eligible. could you please help clarify this? Thanks in anticipation

Not hard.

I applied for a visiting visa alongside my family in December 2022. Got appointment date for January 6, 2023. VISA APPROVED with no document requested. Grace followed me sha. I’m on a student visa in the Uk. Though I’ve finished studying but my BRP is still valid. For another 2months.

Go to the US site. Apply and include a genuine purpose for travelling. Get a date for appointment and get in touch. I might help

How were you able to book your flight. As all the flights I’m seeing from there are in their local currency?

My daughter’s application is still at “received by DMC” though…. We both went in for biometrics same day I must say…

Oh I would suggest you open a pound account with your bank since she’s in the UK. That way she can transfer the funds in pounds without worrying about exchange rate. Gives you more peace of mind too. The transfer can be made in one lump sum. However, when printing your bank statement, you start counting from the day after you received the lump sum(this prevents you from having to explain how you got the money). UKVI accepts bank statements in any currency. So long it’s in your name, parents or legal partner’s name.

Thanks for your reply, she did start transferring some of the funds to me earlier in the year to build my account, but stopped after the exchange rate started climbing rapidly. The amount she transferred to me has depreciated already so that was why we decided to leave the amount in her account in the UK.
What will you advise when it comes to time to apply for visa, should she still transfer it to me? And how do I then prove to the ECO that I got the funds cause I would then have to disclose that it’s from my sister? Is there a way of keeping the money so it remains at the pounds value?

1, Being your sister, and your sponsor, there’re limitations to what she can “officially do for you”. She can help with payments of tuition, accommodations and all. But sadly you can’t use her bank statements for visa purposes. She can however transfer the required sum in your account and then you use your bank statement.

2, You’ll only show tuition deposits and maintenance fees for 1yr.

3, Post study work visas still remains 2 years. That hasn’t changed.

4, You should know most schools are super busy at the moment as they’re giving priority to 2023 Sept applicants. But just keep applying, and to as many school as possible. The earlier the better.

I am new here so I have a couple of questions, please bear with me.

1. I am living in Nigeria, working after completing NYSC a few months ago, but I have applied for a 2 year masters in the UK for winter entry. My sponsor is my sister who is in the UK. How do we go about using her as my sponsor?

2. When showing proof of fund, considering my program is a 2 year program, am I to show the full 2 year fees as available at time of application, or is showing proof of fund for 1 year of the fees adequate?

3. Based on the current clime in terms of visa sponsorship, what is the duration of the postgraduate visa after completing masters? Is it still 2 years as before? Or has it been reduced to 6 months?

4. Anyone going for winter entry here? What’s the timeframe for schools to process applications please as it’s almost August and I applied two months ago but have not heard back from the schools.

You have to print all your supporting documents in standard A4 paper.

Please does TLSContact centre accept soft copies of supporting documents(e.g marriage pictures, WhatsApp chat history etc which are usually in soft copies) from applicants to help upload when one pays for assisted service?

Honestly I’ve been restless. But I’m optimistic I’ll get a positive outcome. Although I only submitted my bank statement. I didn’t submit the bank reference I got alongside it because it’s indicated on the reference the dollar account is just 3months old, and they wouldn’t draft a reference without stating that.

Thank youu! Funny enough yesterday I commented here about how I’m stressed cause of what people have been saying about first bank not knowing my visa was already out. I submitted an Investment certificate with a reference from the bank stating the lowest amount of the investment within the last 28days and that the funds are available for immediate use if needed.

I also have an offer with ARU(Cambridge campus), I’ve done the interview and waiting for POF to mature. You don’t have to upload employment letter owing that you recently finished your NYSC. Your NYSC discharge certificate is enough. If you can get a reference from any of your lecturers, that’s a plus but not necessary. You’ll have to submit TB cert too.

My POF is not yet matured but I'm skeptical about documents to update if I eventually applying for my visa

Will I have to upload employment letter cuz I just finished my Nysc this March and I have no work experience yet?


Asides from my bsc cert, nysc, POF, admission letter and CAS... What other documents are to be uploaded
