Oshimen - the supposedly best african player - missed out in all the awards. Shame
He did not deliver today … all good, he should watch and learn from Messi’s perseverance and seize the opportunities next time.

Congrats to Côte d’Ivoire, well deserved win in that final and an amazing lesson in resilience and self belief.
Congrats to Super Eagles too. They balled well in this competition … except in today’s game, maybe they were simply overwhelmed by the better team that also wanted it more.
Sports / Re: Nigeria Vs Ivory Coast AFCON 2023 Finals (1 - 2) On 11th February 2024 by pargelenis(m): 11:05pm On Feb 11
At least we have a good core team and decent coach and so we have something to build upon.
Now back to facing all the Nigerian problems that are still ongoing.

Well deserved champions …. Congrats Côte d’Ivoire. They dominated and won, fair play!
Despite the disappointment, it has been a good competition for Super Eagles overall. Something to build upon. We have a good core team defensively, we just need to have better midfield play that has more attacking creativity. Then we also need more clinical play from our strikers.

Unfortunately Côte d’Ivoire’s dominance has resulted in 2 goals.
I hoped better from the Super Eagles but they have looked so flat in this game so far!

No other way to sugarcoat this, but Côte d’Ivoire have been the superior team undecided

It is OK, Nigeria last won it in 2013. When Ghana won it in 1982, you were not even born yet grin

This is wonderful … since Ghana has not won AFCON since 1982, let this woman win something.

He should come and coach the great Ghana National team because the last time they won AFCON (1982), three quarters of their population was running around barefoot.

#1 Messi
#2 CR7
But this is NOT what you do to your star player …
home fans should not taunt him but encourage him instead.

Guy, I agree with you on this. I am Nigerian.
The SA guys gave their best and the match could have gone anyway. To play 7 players from Mamelodi Sundown in the starting line up and still get to the Semis is an enviable standard. The SA League is among the top 3 in Africa and we must commend SAFA and the PSL for the good work they are doing.
Hope this crop of Bafana Bafana would bounce back stronger in the next edition of AFCON.
Big up to them
SA are a solid team, 100%
Nigeria was clearly the more talented team in this game and created good opportunities but the South Africans definitely had chances to cause a major upset.

On one hand Nigeria is on the semi-finals of AFCON, on the other hand, it is dealing with a hidnapping crisis. The various security agencies are utterly clueless and the federal/state/local governments are so incompetent. If you want to celebrate, you are reminded of a harsh reality!

The guy that caused us USA94 with ganging up against Yekini.

The guys refused to feed Yekini again for taking the glory of our first World Cup goal to himself.
This act alone almost made me hate Amokachi.

If the unity in this present team was in USA94 team may be we would have reached Quarter finals or Semi

Ha ha - I have to read up on that one … I only remember seeing the highlights of the Italy game … so painful with the last minute goal/equalizer. Nigeria was almost through to the QF of that 1994 WC kiss

Well done to Cape Verde! With just a population of 600,000, they have played a great competition and should be proud of where they have reached.

Meanwhile, Ghana should do the needful and go to Cape Verde’s airport to receive and celebrate the achievements of their husband shocked
