rotecch77: @parosky,the rail is stainless rod
Thanks.
Is it pre-fabricated and how much is it per meter? I saw a rails material that looks similar in the market that was said to be aluminium, it is pre-fabricated and being sold per meter. Can you help compare both in terms of quality, aesthetics and price? 1 or 2 more pictures if possible pls.

What do you mean by "one screen" and to "type all the operation at a go"?

Programming / Re: VB.NET Question Here Please... by parosky(m): 12:41pm On Apr 22, 2012
The only serious problem is that you cannot connect to ms access database over a network. So you need to change you database server to one that support connection over the network. MS sql Server, oracle, mysql are examples. I use mysql.
Then just change your connection string to reflect the name of the server machine.
Hope you already have a network on which to run it or you may try it on a virtual machine.

Programming / Re: Please, How Can I Get Very Good At Programming Very Fast by parosky(m): 8:19am On Apr 08, 2012
You can get very good, but very fast? How fast? Some things just don't have a short cut. You will reap the fruit of how much time you put into learning a programming language. You can get very good today, even if you just maintain that level, you would have been "deprecated" in 2 years. Bottom line: programming is a lifetime of learning and seeking to improve....
Programming / Re: Is 5 Months Enough To Learn Java? by parosky(m): 8:08am On Apr 08, 2012
If you have the time and there's no factor outside your control to hold you back, you should be able to learn java in one month! Get a good person to hold you by the hand through the period. But learning the language is different from mastering software development with it which you'll have to be perfecting for the rest of your programming life. Along with your learning you'll need to do a lot of private reading by yourself which I don't think should scare you. Get a simple java book to start with, then graduate to "Thinking in Java" by bruce eckert. 5 months is more than enough to achieve a substantial mastery of Java!

Programming / Re: [Help Request] Abeg I Need Somebody That Knows Visual Basic Quiet Well by parosky(m): 2:15am On Mar 17, 2012
What version of visual studio are you using. How they are handled if you want a robust code is different in vb6 and later versions. But simply create a UI with six textboxes to hold each value. Put a label box to display the result. In vb6 create an array to hold all the values. In .net use a list object to work on the values, to give you the min and max. Guess you can pull through with this. You know how to find average in arithmetic... Declare your variables as decimal in .net, single in vb6. Google will hed more light too.

The minister's utterance is a national disgrace to say the least, and the mediocrity can only be excused by people with empty skull. You should not explain away this stupidity, an information minister owe it a duty to communicate in unambiguous words. He said what he knew to say. You should not expect someone to perform beyond his abillity especially when they are after something else (embezzling money) rather than excellence. And we should take care not to turn it into an ethnic issue so that posters will not be after defending their ethnic group.

VB6 and VB.Net are like heaven and earth and their similarity does not go beyond the VB in their names. When I migrated to VB.net, I only had my knowledge of java to thank for making it possible, i.e java will help you get up to VB.net faster than VB6 will. A chronic VB6 user will drop a VB.net book in the first paragraph of the first page.

LIES!!!
How did you hear about them? When did you hear about them? How long did it take and how did you to verify their authenticity?
How soon after did you put in your money?
Who in Diamond Bank did you talk to? How authoritative is your source?
You mean you invested N800,000 only to get N3000? Smells like stupidity. or what do you mean? There are lots of reasonable places to put that amount for a month. A fixed deposit at a rate of 8% will give you over N5000 in a month.
If the scheme is not yours to profit from why should people waste their call credit on calling you to get worthless information that only you have? Informations that should be in public places.
So that you will be able to talk to (bamboozle and hoodwink)  them one on one, with no one else to punch a hole in your spurious claims.
Nigerians should know when they see fraud. This is another one.

It's a good practice to always have a unique Id column in your tables. Even if you will not use it in retrieving your data. You may also write a code to generate your custom unique Id not necessarily auto-incremented. It is the most reasonable way of accomplishing your aim as MADAS advised. He gave the right answer to your question.
There is not a function like "LAST" in Mysql. Don't imagine it for them. Always refer to documentation when in doubt.

I wonder how long you have been out of Nigeria to be out of touch with events here? Who are you to lump them together and pass this your comment that is either deficient in sense or rustiness in Nigerian affair. Or both? If you respond I'll educate your ignorant brain. What's your profession? You'll need a case study of a field close to your heart. You'll need it.

Travel / Re: Uk Visa - Visa Appeal Process by parosky(m): 5:38pm On May 07, 2007
Another refusal story please help.
I was refused (hsmp)visa on the grounds that I submitted my sponsor's (who is supposed to accommodate me) mortgage agreement form and council tax which are dated 2004 &2005 - (not current) and not originals and sent as a attachment with a mail so it is a which I printed.
They also said I don't have enough money to take care of myself and family(3 of us).
My questions are
1. Can I appeal providing fresh evidence, as in get the current papers from my sponsor and giving proofs of more money
2. Their refusal letter stated that the sponsor's document I submitted are not originals, which may mean they want to see the originals. Must I get the original.
3. Is it possible to re-apply with the same HSMP decision letter.
Computers / Virus Disables Windows 'Run' Command, Task Manager by parosky(m): 1:49pm On Mar 28, 2007
The problem started when I caught a virus(Ravmonlog) which my mcAfee antivirus took care of. Then I noticed that 'RUN' command has disappeared and I don't have access to the registry and the task manager (all task manager command available has been disable). Somehow I get a message that it has been disabled by the administrator and that I should contact him. I logged in as administrator. The operating system is Windows Server 2003
Pls guys, rush help to me.

@Kazdax
Too many typographical errors turn some people off your post and not many people commit such here. Add the burden of such mistake to your debugging session when you write your code on a text editor,
Segebee in his opening post did not say VB because vb compiler will never be contained by one diskette. He meant "things" like Q Basic Turbo Basic etc.

The programming language you are most used to will influence how coding style, no matter how small, no matter how hard you try. If you are going to learn any more language you should be ready to contend with this. If VB will be too easy, I think the easy one should form the pad from which you launch yourself to the harder. So people should be permitted to start with whichever language. The language that commands such large followership can not be "childish"

If it is your home work, I think you should attempt doing it yourself first. This should be quite easy. You tutor want to stimulate your thinking with this assignment. You may post your attempt here for advice, analysis and criticism (you'll get all) but not that someone should do it for you.
You want to get the highest mark in the class and start posing around that you are good when you did not even think about the solution yourself at all?
Programming / Re: How Do I Edit Datagrid ? by parosky(m): 10:26am On Feb 07, 2007
@LuckyCO

Well, I'll let you know if I find anything concrete.

luckyCO:

But thinking of .net I don't feel ok using COM property.

That is why I want to know whther I can make the Datagrid editable
Thanks

Meanwhile, in .Net, you don't have any business with COM as regards the issue at hand, or do you mean creating and using objects (as in OOP). It may not be as cumbersome as you think. If you need any help, esp. as regards datagridview or whatsoever let's know.
Programming / Re: How Do I Edit Datagrid ? by parosky(m): 8:23am On Feb 07, 2007
@rookie
If he talks about any of the flexgrid, it means he is using nothing beyond VB6 as those activeX controls are not in .Net.
He doesn't want anything to do with database, so nothing about ADO or ADO.Net should appear in the solution that addresses his problem precisely.

@LuckyCO
I've always used DataGrid in VB6 just to display read only records returned from a query and any of the flexgrid when I needed to edit on the grid.  I'm trying to find where I read (or got an indication) that Datagrid is read-only (and without that capability of flexgrid which I've tried out and found impossible too) so that I can be sure of what I'm saying. Check your installed MSDN library(online version seems different and unhelpful), I would have but I had problem with NEPA (prefer that name to PHCN grin) last night. If I find anything I'll call your attention to it.
Move on to .Net (from your contributions elsewhere in this forum I believe you are already looking into it) , there you'll find all capabilities packed into a single control (datagridview).

You are on course. You need to get VB 2005 ( check Ikeja).

In the interim you can download free VB2005studio express edition at http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/vb/download/

or an open source IDE for .NET 2.0 at http://www.sharpdevelop.com/OpenSource/SD/Download/#SharpDevelop20

Do you have materials to get started? Computer with neccessary software installed. Which language do you want to start with. Web or Desktop dsitributed application. Java(though not one of your choice) has been treated elsewhere in this forum, you may refer to that if you are interested. What do you know already? Uhm BSc computer science!!! You should have enough knowledge that can kick you off in any language. So I believe if you can read and do a marathon on the keyboard and visual studio, you won't be far from there. Let's hear from you any way.

Programming / Re: Oop: Encapsculation,implementation And Abstraction What Are They? by parosky(m): 3:19pm On Jan 25, 2007
When your methods take a parameter whose type you don't know before hand, then it's time to use delegate. Just like  it's counterpart in English language (not a programming language  grin). You give the responsibility of getting a job done to some other routine, the DELEGATE. This will work as long as the calling routine has the same signature as the delegate. A good example is a situation where you need to compare or sort objects. You make you code reusable by using delegate. The same routine can be used for comparing or sorting numeric, string, age, cow, goat, person or any type of object.

Serialization is the process of converting an object to a stream of bytes that can be written
to another data source, like a file.
