In a bid to check the flow of information within and outside the Wadata Plaza national secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, its leadership has administered an oath of secrecy on members of staff.

The compulsory oath, which took many of the workers unaware on Thursday, was supervised by the Acting National Secretary of the party, Chief Solomon Onwe.

Some of the workers who complained about the oath which they said was aimed at victimising perceived enemies by some leaders of the party, alleged that some members of the National Working Committee of the PDP were unhappy with some of the workers and have been seeking ways to replace them with their loyalists.

The workers claimed that Onwe warned that anyone suspected to be fraternising with journalists might be summarily dismissed if the party found out that a piece of information was leaked by any of them.

One of the workers said,“On Thursday, we swore to an oath of secrecy which the party said was meant to control the flow of information at its secretariat.

“We were also warned to stay away from you people (journalists) and that anyone of us who fraternised with you could be sacked without any query.

“You will recollect that a cleaner was sacked few months ago for telling reporters that they (cleaners) were being owed five months’ salaries. That is the kind of treatment they say awaits some of us, including directors, if they suspect that we are close to you people (journalists).”

But another member of staff who said they were not surprised with the attitude of the NWC members, accused them of being desperate to fill the secretariat with their cronies.

“You can see their retinue of aides. None of the former NWC members had the number of aides these present NWC members have,” he added.

As at the time of compiling this report, efforts to get the reaction of both Onwe and the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Chief Olisa Metuh, on the issue were not successful.

Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency, PPPRA, Mr. Reginald Stanley yesterday told the Senate that the Federal Government has slashed down the number of oil importers into the country from 128 to 38 as at December 2012.

This came as indications also emerged that government has refused to commence payment of subsidy claims for the 2013 fiscal year.

Stanley also told the lawmakers that the Federal Government has spent N3.7 trillion in five years.

Speaking yesterday, during a meeting with the Senator Magnus Abe-led Senate Committee on Petroleum Resources, Downstream, Stanley blamed the Ministry of Finance for the delay in sorting out foreign exchange claims by the marketers.

“There has been no payment for any marketer importing petroleum products in 2013. This is caused by delays in the payment of subsidy claims by the Federal Ministry of Finance resulting in interest as foreign exchange differential claims request by marketers, etc,” he said.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the Committee, Senator Magnus Abe, however, warned that if importation of petroleum products must be reduced, refineries must be allowed to function optimally.

He also urged the PPPRA boss and his agency not to relent in sanitising and weeding out “briefcase marketers,” adding that they were still lurking around, waiting to manipulate any loophole in the system.

“We are happy that you have put in measures to control the cost of subsidy payment. We have looked at the figures and we are impressed with the progress you are making and we believe you can do more.

”At this juncture, all I want to say is that all Nigerians should be vigilant. The reason we are celebrating now is because of the attention which made some people run away. The moment we relax, they may come back.

“Those who ran away with their briefcases are also looking for how to come back. If the figures rise, we will like to know why the rise because there’s still that danger as they are still lurking around on refineries,” he said.

It will be recalled that the Federal Government allocated N971.138 billion for fuel subsidy inthe 2013 budget and N888.1 billion was officially allocated in 2012.

The fuel subsidy allocation, as captured on page xvii of the Approved 2013 Budget signed by President Goodlcuk Jonathan on February 26 indicates that the N971.133 billionis for domestic fuel subsidy (marketers) (carry-over from 2011&2012 provision for partial subsidy).

Also speaking on some key challenges facing the PPPRA, Stanley reiterated that the agency was yet to clarify the status of kerosene, whether it had been deregulated or not.

He said: “There is lack of clarity on PPPRA and DPR roles in regulating the petroleum sector. Besides, there is lack of clarity on the subsidy status of household kerosene, HHK. We don’t know whether it has been deregulated or not.

”All over the country, between January 1 and December 30, we go round to determine the stock…that was how we first got the figure of 40 million litres per day as our local consumption.”

Check zakir naik on wikipedia in the segment 'terrorism" to see the full statement he made on "every muslim should be a terrorist", before knocking your head on the wall.

You have to address the inconsistency with the moderation of this section. This is especially for Jesoul whom I feel bends the rules to ban certain atheist threads.

I know that I have a very colourful history with trolling/abuse/banishment on this forum and so, I not totally clean. However, I changed since the beginning of this new year (after my sticky thread got rejected). I have matured from writing threads intended to provoke a lot of butthurt from christians. I try to keep my head down to avoid getting into trouble and getting banned. Havent been banned for a long time !!!!


Now, to my surprise, my thread was banned for the sarcastic tone the commenters on it took (after an inoffensive op)

The above question is very important now because what Jesoul is saying is that atheists can not be sarcastic about the bible or even comment on their interpretations of what happened in the bible even though there is no abuse in the comments. Sarcasm is now a crime?

If that is the case, why has my sticky thread (40 arguments against God) not been banned as well? It has everything from sarcastic quotes on religion to atheistic memes on religion to anti-Yaweh/Allah arguments.
