Practise giving yourself "reduction targets". So if you're consuming say 5 raps per day, reduce to 3 then 1 and reward yourself as you hit those targets. Also, hang out with more encouraging friends. I suggest guys in your age and status bracket in Church who are making strides in more important areas of life, they'll help you focus your mind on "higher things".
Talk to God and your leaders as well on a one-on-one basis from time to time.

Religion / The Person Of Jesus (contd) by pastorlams(m): 10:04am On Jul 29, 2018
…Continued from “The Person of Jesus”
Think about Jesus, He once met a woman (Let’s call her Lucy). Lucy was the crazy chic of the town, she was popular for being a love peddler. Every man she’d been with played her and no one wanted to marry her. It would be a shame to parade her as wife… She’d been with way too many men. But Lucy was growing old and had become too used to the company of a man-lover and the lifestyle of a wife. Though she wasn’t anyone’s wife, she couldn’t live without having a man in her life and as result she fell into more heart troubles and made terrible relationship choices. She was confused, had shame written all over her till she just didn’t care what anyone thought about her anymore, “it’s my life” and “I don’t care” were two of her most common statements. She recently began cohabiting with a new guy she met not long ago, they were cool but she knew he wasn’t ready to wife her. Men are useless! She thought.
Person of JesusLucy didn’t want to live like this anymore, but shame ruled her life and stifled her from being courageous enough to change her life for the better. You see, shame is a very limiting spiritual thing. It robs one of their boldness, potentials, courage and abilities. It’s like a dark haze or smoke that chokes ones spiritual capabilities and potentials. But Jesus, He came to replace shame with blessings and Joy and courage and boldness with clarity!
Lucy was at the community well one evening, when no one else would be there to get some water and that’s where she met this awesome glorious man who she’d never seen before.
Jesus was going on a journey to Galilee from Judea but had to go through Samaria when He felt a little tired and asked all His disciples to get get some food. He asked all 12 of them to go cuz something was cooking and He sensed He’d be changing someone’s life there ☺.
That’s when Lucy came along. She knew he was from a different city from his looks and didn’t even bother to say hi. Then Jesus said to her “give me some water”, she probably thought it was some new pick up line men had began using on ladies so she declined His request saying “we have nothing in common, you’re a Jew, I’m a Samaritan” (don’t push it, you ain’t my type sorta) and asked Him to get His water by himself. Then Jesus began talking about living water and Lucy didn’t know when she dropped her guards, He also uncovered some of her deepest secrets on her relationship issues, giving exact figures in the process. By the time Jesus was through speaking with her she ran into the city to tell the men “come see a man who told me all I ever did, isn’t this the Christ”?!
The shame was gone, boldness and glory had come! She would forever be known as the one who brought the Messiah to the city! She would never be the same again! Her reputation as a love peddler was gone into thin air. She’d become an evangelist and everyone could see a new person in her and they went to meet Jesus through her.
Jesus also stayed a couple more days in the city and blessed more lives but it all happened because of Lucy, Jesus’ grace on Lucy ☺.
Anyone who meets Jesus experiences something quite like this. He takes the shame and pain away! He brings joy, comfort and celebration into your life. Jesus never condemns anyone. And He showed that yet again with this woman. His love is everything! He’s here to take away the shame, guilt, condemnation and pain. He got rough only with people who were rough on others and sought to cunningly make merchandise of others but He was kind to everyone. When you meet Jesus, His love, grace and genuineness would so much bless you such that you’d do anything for Him. You’d talk about Him so much till you and others begin to wonder at your sanity because something unexplainable is unleashed once you experience the love of Jesus.
To be continued…
With Blessings,
Pastor Lams .

Religion / PLB Editorial- Why Is There So Much Evil In The World by pastorlams(m): 12:13pm On May 26, 2018
Sometimes, the pictures of war and turmoil (like in Syria), people (especially children) living with very deadly health issues such as cancer and HIV or those living in poverty and helplessness can be very disturbing indeed. It leads many to ask the popular question- “if there’s a God, why do these things happen when He could simply use His infinite power to stop them?”

I remember a story in the Bible where Jesus was faced with a man who was born blind (John 9). Actually the original manuscripts reveal that he was born without eyeballs in his eye sockets, just 2 holes on his face where his eyes should’ve been. Jesus’ disciples were puzzled and grossly disturbed. “Who sinned”, they asked, “himself or his parents?”

Jesus’ answer was “You’re asking the wrong question. You’re looking for someone to blame. There is no such cause-effect here. Look instead for what God can do” (John 9:3 MSG) or (put differently) “don’t start the blame game now, just let’s fix the problem!” And Jesus went ahead to heal the man and got him to see perfectly. It was an outrageous miracle and the news went around town and everyone gave God great praise.

I could go on and on citing examples of seemingly unfortunate situations that happened to people that you’d have thought should deserve better. I mean, the entire Bible is replete with such examples. Abraham, God’s pal, didn’t have a child when he “should have”; Joseph experienced one of the craziest persecution experiences in the Bible; Job literally went through hell on earth; Daniel, don’t even get me started; Jesus was hanged on a cross by the same people he sought to help; Paul suffered not a little despite doing God’s work… We couldn’t exhaust the many examples in the Bible of bad things happening to truly good people.

However, Jesus wouldn’t blame a soul for this man’s predicament. It’s very possible the man’s parents caused something spiritual or physicall disadvantageous to their child, or maybe it was just one of those cases where awkward biological processes in the womb of the woman hindered the proper development of the foetus. For all it’s worth, it could’ve been anything that science today can explain, yet Jesus wasn’t going to have none of that! He was not going to dwell on the problem, He was solution minded. As far as He was concerned, He was here now to solve the problem!....

Religion / Marriage- Enjoying The Full Blessings- By Akin by pastorlams(m): 9:07pm On Mar 03, 2018
Marriage is a beautiful thing. This is so true that it makes me smile ☺- even as I type this, yep! I believe that God instituted marriage as a means by which humans may better live life in a fulfilling way. Even the Scriptures show us that God specially favors a man who finds a wife....Proverbs 18:22 (Message Translation) says, Find a good spouse, you find a good life--and even more: the favor of GOD! Can you imagine that?! Awesome stuff. If this is true, and it is, one may wonder why success in marriage is not quite the experience of many today.

Now, we took a little survey from a program aired on a local radio station and discovered the following results; about 20% of married couples are just getting by in their marriage while reporting that it's 'just normal', another 30% of couples today are totally loving it, I mean everyday sunshine and butterflies kinda experience, they're having the time of their lives. However, a chunk of about 50% are in trouble in their marriage, wishing they hadn't been with their spouses or even regretting they ever married altogether in the first place. Some even reported that they've been depressed since the second or third year after exchanging their vows on the altar. How sad, isn't it?

I think it matters to a significant extent that every Christian refers to God's Word as the foremost source of wisdom for life, including marriage. This is because, marriage is not a man-made institution. God founded the institution of marriage. (Genesis 2:22-24). He intends for every member of the sacred institution of matrimony to have a sweet, healthy and fulfilling experience, Proverbs 19:14 says, House and riches [are] the inheritance of fathers: and a prudent wife [is] from the LORD. God seeks to bless us, desiring for couples to enjoy and rejoice together all their lives.

But, how can one enjoy these blessings in one's marriage? How can a man activate and benefit from God's special favour reserved for the husband? What does the scripture mean by the statement "one flesh"...? All these and more is to come in the next issue of the series, *MARRIAGE - Enjoying The Full Blessings* on the No 1 Christian Lifestyle Blog.

Career / Pastor Lams Blog: A-game Baby, A-game! by pastorlams(m): 8:15am On Jan 09, 2018
Time and time again we must find ourselves re-evaluating our most important desires in life. We must constantly draw back from the crowd and use the night seasons to measure if we lived the day in conscious effort to fulfill these core desires of ours.

For me, it's all about getting the Word out there and I intend to use every means and technology to achieve this. In my mind, if people could only experience what I experience with God through His Word they'd just totally fulfill their purpose in Him. That makes me a helper of destinies, one who stirs others to be their best in life and fulfill their purposes in life. God's Word is everything to me. It has all you need in life to succeed and fulfill your purpose in life. Jesus actually said that if you walk with Him you'd never walk in confusion, He's your inner light, guiding you through all of life's seasons, He's life itself.

Employee, self employed, business owner, investor, philanthropist. Whatever you are or will be, ace your stuff!
Be purposeful about life, but how you going to be purposeful if you don't know your purpose?
You must first find this out!
Maybe we've slept, played and goofed around a little too long. This is the transition age, this is when the heir comes of age and reigns in His Father's stead. This is when we let go of childish fantasies and "funs" to step up to that which is perfect and excellent. This is when new money is being released from the spirit realm looking for whose spirits are prepared.

Don't dull.

I'm on my way already but as a friend I'm constantly checking beside me to ensure you're doing the same.
Today, go A-game baby, A-game.

Religion / "I Love Life!" - The Pastor Lams Blog by pastorlams(m): 1:00am On Jan 07, 2018
1 Peter 3:10-11 For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile: Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it.

Don't you just love the phrase "love life"? You see, I love to wake up in the morning and go to bed at night saying words like "I love life!" I love to enjoy my days, I love to look back at the day, week, month, year etc and say "mahn I love my life!" In short, I love to enjoy life to its fullest! I love to love life!

This mentality has always been with me. When I made the decision in 2008 to live for Christ, I remember praying one of days and saying to God, "Lord, you know I love fun, I'm fun personified, please this journey of faith has got to be really fun!" You see I didn't know then that God was the King of enjoyment and fun! Jesus said in John 10:10(Amplified translation), The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).
No one who lives an authentic Christian life should be bored or live a boring life. He brings beautiful colours and blessings into your life!

When God calls someone, He usually promises them something bigger, better and way more exciting than what they had ever wanted or imagined for themselves. To Abraham He said, "I'm going to bless you and make you a blessing, the whole world will be blessed by you!" Genesis12:2-3. And not only that, He said to him also "you're gonna have a son despite you and your wife's old age" Genesis15:4. Now, Abraham wasn't a broke man when God met Him, he was doing good in his business and was getting ready to pass it on to the next generation of faithful servants because He was getting old and didn't have a child of his own. Yet God was telling Him these exciting things would happen in His already well advanced age of 75 not minding his age or previous achievements in life.

God told him that he'd achieve things that would normally take a whole lifetime to achieve in just a few years and those things happened! Every one of the things God told him would happen happened cause Abraham dared to believe God!

Do you want to enjoy your life in 2018 and have fun every single day fulfilling God's purposes in your life? Use the opening Scripture as your guide.
1 Peter 3:10-11(The Message Translation) Whoever wants to embrace life and see the day fill up with good, Here's what you do: Say nothing evil or hurtful; Snub evil and cultivate good; run after peace for all you're worth.

Enjoying one's life is pretty simple right? First it says, "don't say evil or hurtful things". Don't talk evil about yourself or others and don't use hurtful words on others either. Practice using loving, kind, uplifting and wholesome words only, on everyone including yourself.

Secondly, it says to snub evil but rather cultivate and ensure peace. Don't listen to bad advice that try to tell you there's gain in doing bad things. Snub such advice and don't pick up fights and quarrels and disagreements either. Don't allow jealousy, hatred, envy, anger, bitterness any where around you. Get rid of bad vibes and keep em out of your world. Always turn the table and insist on good and peace and joy and blessings in your world and you'll be amazed how beautifully the year would turn out!
Have a lovely year of 2018!!!

Read a lot. Read books in the direction of what you wish to write about the most. If you wanna write on political thoughts, read on political thoughts. If it's science fiction you love, read on that genre and read the best of the best in such fields. Same goes for if you wanna be a good orator, simply search and choose experts in the field you prefer and learn their skills, then from time to time, practice what you've learnt and include your own ingenuity.
Personally, I write on Christian lifestyle and entertainment and I reach eager readers from over 40 countries on my blog- pastorlams..com. I think I'm innovating a new style of writing and you can check it out . All the best!

CHAVINCI:
In church today, we talked about 1 kings chapter 21 where it tells the injustice king ahab did to Naboth and his children, yes it was very cruel and wicked, but my point is when GOD decided to punish Ahab which of course he repented and wore sack clothes and so GOD extended his hand of mercy on him by saying the punishment meant for him would happen to his children, don't you think that is a misguided justice on the part of GOD?

I mean why would people who know nothing about how a sin was committed pay the price? And if GOD had truly forgiven him, then why punish his children, is that still called forgiveness?

You see in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Everything changed. When a man gets born again, his essence and life aren't from his father (who came from the first Adam). He now has the life and nature of God in him (which comes from believing in the finished works of Jesus). This is the gospel, this is why we enjoin men to be born again. Everything changed in Christ!
