ceejay80s:You've said it all! very scary prices. I thought I could never own one. Now, with under 50K, I've installed mine and also thinking of even adding solar panel to it. Those guys are making money, especially from people who don't care or have time to learn the principles and how it works. * meanwhile, up till now, I still DONT have power. No light in my area, one full week and still counting! ![]() |
operaabel:very weak. hardly lasts longer than 3hrs on a 30watt load. |
I dey do some interesting calculation dey follow this stuff. very exciting! my little research suggest that most of these batteries give out 50% of their amperage conveniently before the red-alert comes on from the inverter. e.g I use a 65AH battery, this means that my battery can comfortably give me 1/2 of 65AH whic is about 32.5AH Now 32.5AH X 12volts = 390watt hours. So if I use 10watt fan and 30watt bulbs = 40watt, I should expect battery to last: 390watt hours / 40watt = 9hours 45mins. Ok now, This means I need more batteries to stay longer! *Sighs* |
ceejay80s:that guy vex seriously. I had to read the 2 X 180ah twice to be sure of what I was seeing. . Only 65ah wey I buy, I'm enjoying like this talk much less of 360 (6 times my current amperage!). May be him wan power AC and freezer! I'm not combining my new battery with the old one. As a matter of fact, I have called one guy who deals in old inverter batteries some streets adjacent to mine. He is offering 3k for the old 100AH and 1.5K for another car battery I replaced sometime ago, that totals 4k.. . Na something. I go add am small cash buy the 80watt solar. Little by little I go push DICO behind. ![]() |
ceejay80s: ![]() wetin man go do? No light, no fuel as at y'day that I bought it. Just managed to check my gen now, and I observed a very little quantity of fuel inside, I've switched it on and it's running now (generator), so I'm charging it. I dey Ifako. Power situation there na wahala. |
ceejay80s:just that 10watt fan and about 6 X 5watt bulbs ONLY! But sometimes I off the kitchen and bath bulbs, especially when I'm not there. It's still running o, even without charging. NEPA is tormenting us seriously in Gbagada. ![]() |
ceejay80s: ![]() ceejay80s:loooool! very funy |
ceejay80s:bros na wah! the battery is reliable. wait a minute! did I hear you say charge the battery before use? yawah don gas be that o! I used it straight 8hrs yesterday without charging! I put it off myself as it didn't go off and my inverter didn't signal that the battery was weak. no light since Wednesday, to make matters worse, NEPA (PHCN or DISCO) or whatever they call themselves has forsaken us in Gbagada. Light situation demands urgent declaration of 'state of EMERGENCY' ..no light to charge and no fuel. I don tire! solve one problem, another one emerges. up till now that I type these words, still no light. I'm thinking of buying one 80watt solar panel (10k) with a 10amp solar charge controller, so I can forget DISCO and their stupid supply. the most annoying is that they bring estimated bill of 10k for me every month. |
ogunsinamayowa:uwc also check new calls and apply fast: http://arts.brighton.ac.uk/research/doctoral-centre-arts/studentships/techne-ahrc-studentships http://lifeofbreath.org/index.php/2015/12/16/fully-funded-life-of-breath-phd-at-durham-university/ http://scholarshubafrica.com/10326/skoll-mba-scholarship-oxford-university/ (see more on lower right hand corner) cheers! |
@Ceejay, abeg relax jor! You opened this thread, so lead by example. Penuelseun:I think we should be particular about the brand here. I have done my research here in Lagos, and the prevailing market price for a NEW 40AH - 65AH is between 11K (Fabion or so) to 15k (croc), even 17k (Fullriver) - That's if you are lucky enough to see 40AH, as it is relatively very scarce now. Most importantly, one should be careful of the brand, as Ceejay earlier said, there are so many FAKE brands o! I set off to Olowora today for Idyllic technologies, despite the heavy traffic warnings. It took me more than 4hours between Gbagada and Berger ! Eventually, I got the Office and bought 65AH Fullriver battery for 22K. The guy however said it's 23k but I bargained well and he accepted. As he said, they are the only authorized dealer for Fullriver batteries in Nigeria, and they had almost all AHs except 40AH. he claimed they had so much of it in stock some months ago, and they were scared of how to sell them all off, but suddenly, some guys stormed their office from Alaba market and cleared ALL 40AH stock (more than 900pieces) in one day! I think the battery is VERY RUGGED and in high demand. If the 9k one is a good brand, then I think it's a fair price for a new and good quality battery. |
saint2ace:I get your drift bro and I share your sentiments in all, I think heavens won't fall if ceejay tenders an apology. |
ceejay80s:@Olowora? Absolutely brand New: Check their web page: http://www.idyllictechnologies.com/ http://www.vconnect.com/idyllic-technologies-limited-ikeja-lagos_b59341 (with Vconnect adding 1k) |
ogunsinamayowa:Can't find it. Ayway, sign up here: http://www.prospects.ac.uk/. There's another useful online site, will search for it and get back to you. I found it particularly useful then. cheers and best of luck..also don't forget to put it in prayers, sometimes NOT by power! |
ceejay80s:That dey try some scam. I was there twice, and to my greatest surprise, he sold the battery I wanted to buy. Initially, I wasnt with sufficient cash, I told him I'll be back. I called to remind him the following day, and he reassured me it was still available, Unbeknown to me, he had sold it and cleverly packaged another fake battery to look like the former. Anyway, I was very vigilant because i've really had some terrible experiences with those boys at Oshodi - very very desperate boys. To cut the long story short, I saw marks on the battery despite all their gimmicks to hide it. It was CLEARLY a FAKE battery, the alignments were rough and it was looking worn-out. I didnt pay. I simply told him I was dissapointed, he tried to lie again, this time, stuttering, I just left very angry. Anyway, for those of you who need genuine battery, Vconnect has in stock, but it's limited, so be fast - it's Fullriver battery. 40AH is 15k. it's also available with one dealer at olowora, Berger - 65AH for 22k |
operaabel:e dey kampe...08149777036, send a text if it's off. In a long meeting now. cheers |
sometimes on NL, the side banter and biker is remarkably more interesting to read than commentary focused on the topic. on this episode, I'm fascinated by the bandy of words between SINNS and EroticAngelina. A beg make una continueeeeee.....jor. |
niggi4life:bros, food isn't the solution for weight seekers. its simply genetic. I can eat a house, but if you see me, you'll ask 'where is all the food you are grubbing going ?' |
ogunsinamayowa:I left this thread long ago. anyway, you can pm me and I'll send you some links to sign up on. |
ceejay80s:I wonder where you saw UPS - I used an inverter, pls see pix again.

I have changed connection - removing changeover, as I have my board designed such that I can change the entire connection when necessary, but there's still no difference in voltage usage. The Ameter doesn't suggest any difference. This is an experimental set-up and so far, I think most of your comment is basically in theory. For this small set-up, such lofty theories may not apply - I really don't think so. |
Simple hygiene: wash your face and beddings regularly (especially pillow covers). If this doesn't work, see a dermatologist for serious dose of Antibiotics. |
hotmolo:change-over just enables me switch the battery between inverter and charger! |
vansledge:Akoka. Simply PM me if you need it. |
OP, you have a very valid point. Experience is everything! |
vansledge:I have my UPS for sale, just 2k. I know its worth more than that because the 7.5Ah battery in it is working perfectly. However, I just wanna help and give it to some-one who needs it.
|
Ty207:I'm willing to sell mine (650 VA MECURY UPS) for 2k ONLY! It's working perectly |
ceejay80s: true talk sha |
ceejay80s:Ok. I'll just use only the new one then. BTW, I'm still searching for a good one within the range of 6k-8k..that's my budget. if you know of anyone else apart from ugo, who has a good battery in stock now, kindly drop his number. Tnx |
N.B: The Change-over switch is NOT for PHCN. It's to enable me change between inverter and charging - this prevents me from touching the battery - which I have already connected to the handle of the change-over and hidden away. Like I earlier explained I fear touching the aligator clips, naturally I fear batteries - so, I connected it to the change-over and his it away. If I want to charge the batteries, I have connected one end of it to the charger and the other end to the inverter, while the handle is attached to the battery. |
ceejay80s:Ceejay, I don't know the make/model o! I just stumbled into a guy who said he had battery and inverter for sale...then I thought..wait a minute, 'I think I need those' so I bargained 3k for the inverter - which he gladly sold, and 10k for the 100AH battery. However, I think I lost on the battery as it wasn't well maintained. Looks new outside but not really alive inside..perhaps because, as he claimed, he has left it unused for a very long time. On a 30 watt load, the battery lasts only 6hours. By my calculation, this is equivalent to 180watt-hours (30wX6hrs). if you divide by 12V, you'll simply get 15AH...this means that 85AH has been used away...that's a BIG loss o! Anyway, you win some, you lose some. I have seen Ugo (the Oshodi guy) and told him that I need a very good 80AH battery. he said 13k. I think I can combine both to get around 95AH and number of hours expected= 95 X12 = 1140 watt hours which on 30watt load could last up to 38hrs! (1140WH/30W)Na cash I just need now, to get that battery! meanwhile see my pix attached.
|
ceejay80s:yes inverters have alarm system. my 150watt inverter has it, turns red and beeps continuously to alert you that the battery is low..then I'll simply off it. quite frankly since I set up mine, my generator has gone on holidays. I don't even remember I have gen anymore. as I type this now, its on. ...and again, guy, like seriously, this 10watt fan is just unbelievable the thing dey blow standard quality breeezzzze!!!!! |
I was at Oshodi today and met with the guy: he was just too quiet. He however told me that he has only 65ah battery- which he showed me. I wasn't pleased with the battery because from my little knowledge of batteries, I think such Lead-Acid batteries might discharge fast. There was a warning inscription on the battery stating clearly " DO NOT CHARGE IN AN ENCLOSED SPACE" - Then I remembered I read something about such batteries releasing HIGHLY inflammable gases, so I declined buying it. Eventually, and to cut the long story short, I bought the 10watt fan from him. He bluntly refused selling it for 1,800, rather he sold it 2k. Let me at this point state that I have been on a similar project before stumbling into this thread - and have, as a matter of fact, completed it today. I used a 150Watt inverter (I never knew a 650va UPS could be used as I had one that I actually wasn't using at home, and that would have saved me some cash). Anyway, I bought the 150watt inverter for 3k on Olx, and also bought a 100AH (used) from the same guy for 10k. I got a 10Amps charger for 9k from another guy who works at Alaba and a tiny (probably the smallest size change-over switch to enable me switch between charging and discharging with the charger and inverter respectively, because I hate having to tough the Aligator clips every now and then - fear That i might fumble with it and it goes boom - explosion..lol!). I had everything systematically and neatly arranged on a ply-wood and hung it near my PHCN power source I have wired 6 numbers of 5watt bulb (two at my sitting room and 1 at every other room, kitchen and bath)...The thing chop almost 2k flexible wire sha!the wire spanned from the inverter to all lamp holders. All the lights DO NOT come on at the same time bacause I connected small N50 naira switches to each of them. I got Phillips 5watt energy bulbs 80naira each. Wires were ALL neatly tucked to avoid clumsy swirling of wired everywhere - which I hate with passion. I also have wired it to carry my lap-top and the 10 watt fan..... so far, so good..everything working perfectly. I will upload pictures soon. |
firstly I'm NOT happy that I'm commenting at the tail end Og the fourth page, because I've been through the op's current experience - same deeper lyf parents - and it also built a bridge between my mother and I. Back to the crux of the matter: the only solution now is to play along, be patient, pretend like you are on their side of religious fanatism, quote scriptures to them at every given opportunity to buttress any point, prove to them that you know as much as they know and even better - remember, to catch a monkey, you have to behave like a monkey. they probably have been policing you around and asking others to snoop on you because you have shown them signs of an infidel - signs that you do want to live by their doctrines - and they are ready to fight and frustrate you to a stand still. intact if you are a good pretender, and anyone comes reporting you, they'll NOT believe that person and might never even ask you whether such allegations are true - they'll simply dismiss it as false. All you should do now is pretend to conform, so you can get all you need in terms of finance and resources to graduate. make sure you finish well with a Google grade and then, Get a GOOD job, after which you show them your true colour - also make them realise that you have for long tolerated their excessive whimsical and religious control - its time to stand as a man! - Turn the tables around |
