Please for due diligence, what are the things first time traveler F1 and wife f2 to prepare when departing Nigeria for the first time to USA? Like documentation, information to have during landing and meeting the CBD and other vaccinations?

There is no crime in that as you're well in your time frame. If you come on July 13th the CBP officer won't frown at you. People arrive on earliest arrival date as far as you know where you're going.

Funding 101: There's no fixed time in getting a response from a Professor because they are almost always extremely busy. It is your duty to send a reminder email maybe once a week. Also, do not send email to Profs on weekends.

Some Professors could take a week, others could take about two months, while a few might not respond if you do not remind them.

Please after canceling a later appointment date for b1b2 but now the same MRV payment being used for f1/F2 as linked by the embassy and appointment booked for May 2023 with program start date of 12th August 2022. Please how many time one can be rescheduling for earlier dates if available on the portal without affecting the change of Emergency request. As I just found an available date in November 2022. Is it advisable to select this date and still checking for an earlier date before I apply for emergency date

You need to just take chilled pie and wait till when you can make use of the emergency date option.

Or you keep checking using the rescheduling link to reschedule for early date.

Good morning, please in the process of getting a regular date through daily checking... how many time can someone who has not missed an appointment in the past reschedule to earlier date? Is there a link to it if one keeps rescheduling for an earlier date ? And hope it won’t affect the chance of Emergency Request by making it to disappear if one does the rescheduling more than two times.

That’s so great... God really came through for you. Was it Lagos or Abuja? I am on the lookout for a closer date to resume on or before 12th of August 2022 but only got available date for 17th of May 2023.

Could you please tell me your strategy in getting the closer date as I am scheduled for Lagos.

If the tuition waiver amount is on your award letter, you can compare it with the one on your school's site but to make it easier, just request for your i-20. The DSO or the person that's handling processed of i-20 will let you know the amount that should be on the statement of account.

Sorry about your visa application being denied. Can you taken time to share your transcripts to see how it can be tweak against next time since you said you have funding as the funding should be a leverage for you. What’s the value of the funding to start from there ?

I have funding, I have sent mail to the school for deferment, but I have deferred before. If I submit another ds-160, can they see what I submitted in the previous one.

But I am just being careful that Lagos consulate doesn’t read that two appointments have been canceled on it( I.e one from Lagos Consulate and the other time myself) so now that it’s linked and showing that I can use it to schedule appointment for F1 visa while it was paid at the bank for B1/b2.

Does canceling appointments earlier on B1/b2 jeopardize requesting for emergency appointments on the linked F1 application later time cos Lagos doesn’t come close to publish earlier dates now. I just want to be careful

Okay the way I understand this, appointment was only cancelled once on the previous MRV. If that's the case, you still have a chance to use the previous MRV. So why don't you try and add your wife to the previous one and see what happens.

Please I need clarification as regards my booking for F1/F2 visa appointment. Here is my case,

Sometimes in 2020 I was supposed to go for a business meeting in the US. I have been booked for B1/B2 visa interview in April 2020 but COVID 19 made US Embassy in Lagos canceled all appointments and hence my travel purpose was forfeited. But sometimes, in November 2021 thinking i could make use of the for a tourist visa application as it still valid and I booked an appointment with the confirmation number used in 2020 but the appointment date is still not in sight and I had to cancel it... making it twice on the MRV payment reference that visa appointment has been canceled.

Fast forward to this year when I recently paid for F1/F2 visa feee for myself and wife and Submitting the DS160 to book an appointment and I found that my profile on cgi is still linked with the MRV a payment reference of February 2020 while I am only being asked to just input that of my wife. Well, I would have continue with but I am afraid that they may not allow me to make use of emergency date on it after my cgi profile showing canceled appointments on B1/B2. And my program start date is 12th of August. Please I need all your comments on this. Thanks

Sorry about that your visa wasn’t approved in December... I think that’s the reason your EA was rejected again as it hasn’t not reached six months you last appeared for interview. One of the requirements is that you must not have been denied in the last six months.

Yes, I requested for an EA in December but it was later ‘canceled’ not denied coz I got an appointment thru the priority surge date. Even at that, i think a new MRV should give me me at least 2 EA attempts if I’m not mistaken, coz I requested once and got denied and now the EA option is not showing again. I’m just so confused. My program start date is June 9.I need help.

If I get it right that you were denied in December 2021, you will need at least 6months to reapply again to have a better chance of good adjudication and that must have been the reason your EA was not approved this time or you used it earlier during your December 2021 interview.

Just keep keeping. It’s always like this, it hardly come easy in Lagos but would still show up. Yeah, almost ‘everyone’ resumption is August, so you’re not alone.

You are the applicant, you should know the kind of preparation that works for you, general mock, self videos mock, transcript p/reviews, YouTubing etc.

Preparation is key. You don’t just wait and be expecting miracle. Embassy ‘atmosphere’ is entirely
different that if you don’t go prepared, your hands might fall and “e go shock you”. �

Aside preparation, make sure everything you’re coming with is set and corresponded. Your locations both on visa portal and ds160 be same, your application numbers on both should be same etc.

As the applicant; you should know that the VO ‘usually’ judge these ways:

GENUINE - Are you here with a good school or so? I mean, there are some schools that are ‘red flags’ to the VOs. Mostly, Colleges or so. Applying to the ‘wrong’ schools clearly shows that you’re trying to Japa because they the VO knows that there are more than 4k right schools in The US. So, no excuse from you.

LIABILITY - Are you going there to be a liability to their country. That’s where FUNDING stuff comes in, and reason why most FULLY FUNDED guys get it easily. If you don’t have that, not a crime; just make sure you package your source of sponsorship well and clear for the VO to understand that you won’t be a liability.

HOME TIE: They want to KNOW not just hear, that you’ve something that would bring you back to your country. That’s where WORK and FAMILY (mostly married guys) comes in. Like, you can’t say you’re not currently working and/or not married and expect the VO you might likely come back (putting other factors in place, don’t get me wrong). �

F1: Be ready for more convincing ‘talks’ within few mins, extra supporting docs might not be asked. You CONVINCE the VO not ‘replying’ him/her.

F2: Extra supporting docs would be asked, come along with that and with small convincing talks. �

Oh! Grace factor? Ok. But also prepare for it to happen or work towards your Grace yourself.

For those coming to from different part to Abuja. Air and Roads are safe, don’t let anyone discourage or put fear on you. �

Air: Green Africa and Overland seems to be cheapest airlines atm. 27k and above I guess.

Road: sincerely ABC, GIG and co are the most convenient. 12k or so.

Accommodation: there are cheap hotels close to the embassy, of 5-10k range.

Most, Uber fee within Abuja are of 1k range, so from your hotel to the embassy won’t be more than 1k at most. Unless, it’s an airport trip which are mostly 3k or so.

If you seems lost, kindly reach out to me, I can easily recommend hotels and Uber guys within the City. �

Lastly, kindly know that in this path, IT IS ZERO EMOTIONS. You leave your emotions and expectations at your Fav location not in this path. It’s 50/50 just for you to know. If the other ‘50’ happens, take it and move on, you’re not a failure or anything. You come again later. Be like, Burna Boy who reFired to Grammy from African Giant album to TAT, and won it in his 2nd attempt by not giving up. �

you add the f2 as dependent in the appointment. you go together for the interview or you can decide to go on different appointment dates by creating another appointment profile...
