The United Kingdom's world-renowned law enforcement agency, Scotland Yard, reported on Thursday that two more suspected Nigerian terrorists were arrested by inspectors investigating the hacking death of a British soldier, Lee Rigby, in London by two suspects yelling " Allahu Akbar." Scotland Yard officials said counterterrorism unit detectives arrested a male and female on Thursday on suspicion of conspiracy to murder. Both suspects are being held in a London police station, officials noted. The two suspects who killed the young soldier -- both in their mid-20's -- were shot and arrested by police at the scene of the killing of a British soldier on Wednesday. Both men remain hospitalized in stable condition, according to Scotland Yard. Former al-Muhajiroun head Anjem Choudary reportedly identified the man in the cell phone video as Michael Adebolajo, a Christian who converted to Islam around 2003 and took part in Islamist anti-West demonstrations in London. In the video, one of the suspects, Adebolajo, said, "We swear by almighty Allah we will never stop fighting you. We must fight them as they fight us." According to a counterterrorism expert, the attackers in this incident are likely affiliated with -- or influenced by -- the Islamist terror organization based in Nigeria called Boko Haram. The Islamic jihad in Nigeria started as a riot in 2009 by members of an Islamist group known as Boko Haram. That first encounter turned into a full-blown gun-fight between Boko Haram and its supporters and the police and the military, according to Canada Free Press. Since 2010, Islamists have perpetrated drive-by shootings and suicide bombings that have killed 1,548 people. Boko Haram, which means “Western education is sacrilege,” has said it wants its imprisoned Islamists released and for the current Nigerian government to institute Sharia law throughout the nation. The group officially affiliated itself with al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb in 2010, about the same time that Somalia's Al-Shabaab also announced its Islamist-affiliation with al-Qaeda, according to Pam Geller at Atlas Shrugged. last week, Nigerian police and security forces reported that upwards of 60 people were fatally wounded when suspected al-Qaeda affiliate Boko Haram Islamists attacked security formations in Nigeria’s terrorist-infested Borno region, according to Jorge Vega, an international counterterrorism and security expert. According to Vega, the Boko Haram terrorists also executed 14 Nigerian prison officials in cold-blood and they freed more than 100 Islamist prisoners, who will probably return to the battlefield. The suspected terrorists then torched a police station and its adjoining police barracks, as well as a local courthouse and Bama’s government complex where some of the buildings were totally destroyed. During the attack, the terrorists perpetrated extensive arson on the divisional police station and police barracks. More than 20 police officers lost their lives, while three Children and a woman were burned to death. In April, a fierce battle in Baga, Nigeria between security forces and Islamic terrorists left at least 200 Nigerians dead in that nation’s northeast coastal region, an Israeli terrorism analyst who monitors jihad in Africa said. The source said that the terrorists initiated the attack with rocket-propelled grenades and soldiers retaliated with intense machine-gun fire in Nigerian neighborhoods and many of the casualties were civilians. The fighting in Baga forced civilians to flee into the surrounding community adjacent to Lake Chad. After the violence subsided, government officials were able to view the destruction firsthand, and their inspection revealed homes, small business establishments, and automobiles and trucks were torched as a result of the intense battle, according to local media. investnow2013: Onitsha|Anambra-State needs a very strong Private Media both Print & Electronic to help balance news coming from the other side of Nigeria which is enermical to our economic, social & cultural wellbeing!.We being leaders in Creative/Film industry alias NOLLYWOOD should also project our Investments in good light!.This should be based in Onitsha.Obiano can also help to mobilse our people on the need for this even on the area of financial support!.....Igbo bu Igbo ekene mu unuooo!!!! my brother it pains me so much, I don't know how to tell those onitsha business men and women to invest in media, TV, radio and printing press. These are more lucrative than buying and selling, and it doesn't cost so much, check out music and movie industry, why must people go to lagos before he or she gets to make it. Why not just spring up the likes of soundcity, Hiptv, spice TV and ofcourse Channelstv for our own propaganda.infact we need three categories media, entertainment TV stations, to showcase our rich cultures, musical prowess of our people and Africa to the world, just like soundcity, then a TV station that propagate our land to the world, just like CCTV to China, CNN to America, Channels for yorubas. Etc. We also need media press online, that can be accessed by our people living abroad. Just like radio biafra. We have to get these things now, to project our land. Can you imagine, no media house covered the protest in Anambra state, but had it been that it was in lagos, the whole world will know about it.. those business men have what it takes to become influential and ofcourse rich by having one of these platforms, we also have so many capable hands, we have our people scattered all over the world yet we do not have make use of it. Look at Yoruba people in UK communicate with their kits @ home through Bentv, and ofcourse channels.. we need these things.. I have been clamouring on this. |

huptin: Mind you, I am not saying SE/SS are infallible but based on the propaganda in the system today, why should APC states be dying ...it is contradictory and worst heat are my brothers in SW...
In as much as i wanted to agree with you on some valid points you raised, saying that south west states are the worse hit is a big lie.....Abia state is in the east, the state is the first to start owing workers, infact as we speak, the state is owing its workers for over 10 months, Enugu owes workers of its parastatals for 10 months also, imo is owing for 5 months, out of 5 south east states, 3 are owing. Even Akwa Ibom state, the richest in terms of oil rrvenue is also owing, Rivers state nko? Benue is totally moribund, Bayelsa might be managing to pay its workers because of the small size of its civil service but even the governor admitted that most capital projects have been on hold now for over a year.
You cant compare the staff strength of Anambra's civil service to that of Osun, Osun has a much bigger stafg strenght. Even Soludo criticised the Anambra government for deciding to save money instead of investing the money in projects that will galvanise the state into an economic hub.
It does not make sense saving money when 80% of your indigenes have to migrate to to other places if they hope to make any head way in business.
Yes our governors have been wasteful and stupid, but it is not in any way limited to the south west governors, it is a national thing. And GEJ did not help matters he allowed a culture of waste to thrive without any attempt to check it.
The era of oil is gradually coming to an end, its time to buckle up and face realities, as for the south west.... don't bother about us, if the Abacha and Goodluck era could not bring us down, we shall surely survive. anambra people poor? You are a joke! Osun, OYO and Ogun States are owing Anambra state FYI.... Anambra state hasn't renegade in paying salaries when due. Governor even added 15percent to salaries, They pay youth corp members when due. They provide accomodation for corp member too.. The school management also pay them stipends too. Anambra state is very strong |

Listening to igbo radio station online can be very depressing ( for us lovers of igboland atleast), with the sadistic and grumpy presenters reminding us how beautiful everywhere is aside igboland: obodo oyibo marun ma, ndi yoruba mara akwukwo, ndi ugwu na ako ugbo ofuma etc lol like minds.. We need to come together and talk about all these issues.. Most of the radio presenters are wannabe phonkie people, the sound very ridiculous, femz lagos base artists, OAP and artist like mad! Very annoying and disgusting eg is blaze fm. The guy that talks about entertainment their is a big fat fool. And the notion of yoruba being very educated and lagos being developed bla bla bla are just silly to me.. They will read the lagos ibadan media headline asking people to discus, if you look at the content, nothing that concerns Southeast is discussed. An average southeast man knows fayose, discus him but people from southwest know nobody down here and they don't discuss us. They careless about what happen down here, but our local radio stations will be discussing what happen in lagos kano abuja ekiti etc. Its very unacceptable. 1. Another critical point is the The Nation newspaper correspondent in southeast, emmanuel by name only reports negative things from South east, but turns blind eye on anything good. |

I often cited Nnewi model as a good thing to emulate among Igbos at least for a start. I always wrote that no Governor or government can claim any form of help given to Nnewi either in terms of power, road, housing or water supply. Almost everything there is through self help.
The Kano picture happened to be necessary here because of too much Igbotic buildings being posted. Real highrises help give a city good skyline . Olamitisoji: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/06/salary-crisis-buhari-to-bail-out-states/
By Peter Duru, MAKURDI Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has said that President Muham-madu Buhari would extend bailout to states to enable them offset backlog of salaries and liabilities crippling their economic activities across the country. He made this known yesterday in Makurdi, the state capital, during separate meetings with students and other union leaders from the Benue State University, BSU. Ortom further revealed that his predecessor, Gabriel Suswam left behind a debt burden of over N90 billion for his administration, contrary to the N9.2 billion debt as claimed by the former governor. Benue is among the distressed states in the country. Others include Osun, Enugu, Kaduna, Plateau and Imo. Most of the states or their local governments are said to be owing between four to six months salaries of workers amounting to several billions of Naira. However, according to Ortom, “the list of the debt (left behind by Suswam) include N50 billion incurred from ongoing contracts, N18 billion on certificated contracts, N12 billion on salary arrears and about N10 billion for bonds and bank facilities and loans.” He stated that the President had agreed to avail the states some lifeline but noted that Benue State government had concluded arrangements to borrow funds to pay one month of the backlog of salary arrears across board and to also ensure the take off of both the executive and legislative arms of government. He said the decision was prompted by the need to demonstrate to the state work force that he was determined to address their problems and to persuade striking tertiary institu-tion workers to call off their four-months-old strike. Earlier, President of the BSU Students’ Union Government, Bobby Taver-shima, had lamented that students of the university had been at home for four months but assured that they would not do anything to jeopardize the administration. Also, a representative of the National Associa-tion of Nigerian Students, NANS, Gideon Obande appealed to Ortom to clear arrears of bursary owed students in order to alleviate their sufferings. what kind of country are we operating? Why should these states get any bail out? If they are not going to sustain the state. They should shut the state down.. Let them collapse to another state.. This kind of thing is really annoying. PMB should not try that shit! It is a no no for me!! |

They have written thousands of articles trying to rubbish the hard work of these people, and you will never see them reply, One of those lies was that the producers are tribalist...but when Ghana came, The yorubas came and used their media war and chased Ghanaians away. They out numbered yoruba actors and actresses, olu jacob, funke are always used in nollywood. Those producers only care about those that will bring returns. Ikwerreboy: Good people of south south and south eastern nigeria, i greet you all and wish you from the bottom of my heart goodluck in all your positive doings. I am Ubong .E. Daniel, and i hail from the ibibio ethnic nationality in the south south region of nigeria, and i want to use this medium to express my thoughts towards the tom and jerry merging of the south south and south east nigeria to form what is called Lower Niger, as the igbos have discovered that presenting the word 'biafra' to the niger deltans (south south) willnever be acepted by us as it is been seen by many from the south south region today as an igbo struggle, which eventually it is. The rate at which the igbos are been hated, discriminated, marginalised, cursed and condemmed in the south south needs answers to questions such as: (a) Are the south south still ready to merge with the igbos after what they suffered during the eastern region governmennt, were the igbos used the intrumentality of government power to almost extinguish the other tribes and ethnic groups the niger delta (south south), all schools were in igbo land, even though the white man came through the sea, All commercial cities were in igbo land (south east) even though the produces were from etche, ikwerre, ogoni, orashi and ijaw lands, the rail system was conjured to start or terminate in the heart of igbo land even though they had no raw materials and sea ports, they forced the teaching of igbo cultures and use of igbo language in schools and churches expecially in ikwerre land together with its brothers the ogbas and the ekpeyes in present day rivers state systematically almost eradicating of the traces of the above groups in the south south, we the ibibios we known this we even have the case of Arochukwu-Ibibio war, and when it was war time, they made the niger delta (south south) the battle field. Forget about who is representing who in the so called Lower Niger congress, for the minds of the masses in the south south and south east needs to be made known by going to the polling booth for peace and unit amongst us. We should not decieve ourselves, south south and south east is not united, forget about the patern of voting in the just concluded presidential election, were all the south easterners supporeted Jonathan from the south south region, after all during the 2011 presidential election the south west (except osun state) together with the southeast all supported Jonathan who hails from the south south region. The newly formed Lower Niger which they said consist of the south south and south east by some group of representative with the mandate of having a soverign state can not be used to consider the fact that the people of the south south and south east have agreedbto form a republic known as Lower niger, biafra or whatever. Truth is sometimes bitter, but it has to be told for peace and unity amongst us. The south south and south east still harbour hatred between each other expecially in the south south region. Majority of the Ogonis, ijaws, ikwerre and its brothers the ogba and ekpeye still have deep hatred in there minds over the igbos, even though they sometimes get married to them, try visit rivers state and see for yourself. I am trying to prevent inter-ethnic crisis that will make the proposed republic worst than nigeria as the igbos are always bent on dominating and over throwning the ihabitants of any area they migrant to (Sir Ahmadu Bello). Look at the map adopted by the so called Lower Niger congress, the ogonis,Itsekiri, and the ikwerres together with there brothers, the ogbas and ekpeyes are no were to be found. But rather they grouped them as igbo even when they are been regarded as ethnic groups of their own by the Nigerian government, not igbo, not hausa, not yoruba, not ijaw.Even with the population of the ikwerres been the largest ethnic group in rivers state together with there brothers, the ogbas and ekpeyes who have made it clear even before the biafran war that they are not and have never been igbo which also lead them to been regarded as an ethnic group by the nigerian government was group under the so called Lower Niger map as igbos what nonsense. This shows how unserious they are, it shows they have not made poper consultation and that they are speaking for themselves. Because i know very well that the ekpeyes, ogonis, itserkiri, engennis and the ikwerres with its brothers the ogbas and ekpeyes will not acept the so called map of Lower Niger by the Lower Niger congress. Keeping the map issue aside, i think it would be better if an election is been carried out in the south south to determine whether to: (a) Remain as Nigerians (b) Form a soverign state called Lower niger/biafra which will consist of the south south and south east states (c) Or the south east should go and form there own republic while the south south form there own niger delta republic. At the end of this excecise what ever the majority falls at, so be it.. To me this the best way the masses can express their feeling which in feature will bring nothing but peace, love and unity. Raphael Osas Obasuyi when will you stop disgracing yourself? |

Kingspin: Kaduna - Former Minister of Defence, Lt. General Theophilus Danjuma (retd) has said that northern Christians were always targets of disgrace and humiliation out of public offices for no just cause. Danjuma stated this in Kaduna Saturday at the 64th graduation ceremony of students of Baptist Theological Seminary, Kaduna. General TY Danjuma who was represented at the occasion by a Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from Kwara State, Mr. John Dara said, Christians from the northern region have passed through delirious times both politically, socially and economically, adding that the way forward was for the people to unite and speak with our voice to achieve progress and development in the zone. The Former Defence minister who was honoured with an award by the Seminary for his contribution to the growth and expansion of missionary works, called on the graduating students to be of good character and Ambassadors of peace wherever they may find themselves. Also, honoured with similar award on the occasion was the immediate past Group Managing Director (GMD), Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Engineer Andrew Yakubu. Danjuma said, “This is not the best of times for Christians in the north, they have passed through delirious time in the last 16 years of our democratic process. “Northern Christians are the most humiliated and undermined in the affairs of the country. We should not feel inferior, but superior so that we can take our rightful position in the kingdom of Nigeria since we are already in control of the kingdom of the church. “We must therefore unite and speak with our voice, we must not shy away from our responsibility as Christians, and we must preach peace and say the truth. May the Seminary continue to grow from glory to glory”. In his goodwill message, the Ex-NNPC Boss charged the graduands to be of good behaviour in carrying out the work of God wherever they may find themselves http://thenationonlineng.net/new/northern-christians-most-humiliated--danjuma/ hehehehe cry me a river! egift: PDP TANiods and their attacking the messenger. The award of Yale on NOI is about her performance as Minister of Finance (which is nothing to write home about, considering the poor state of things).
Now the counter petition from Chinomnso against Iwalaiye is blabbing about NOI as world bank staff.
Yale should have cite a better excuse to dash her the award. Dr. Ngozi (apart from re-basing) is leaving the economy worse than she met it. Soludo is still miles ahead than Ngozi. onye Yoruba, when soyinka worked under abacha, who and who signed a petition against his award? Useless people |
