I am not wrong. LW and RW are also midfielders in the sense you argue. If you check Premier League website highest chances created by midfielders, you are going to see wingers. So in that sense, Martial, James are midfielders.

In a 4 3 3, you have wing forwards but in a 4 4 2 or 4 2 3 1, you have LMF and RMF flanking an AM...Martial plays CF so, I don't get what you're on about.

More like Martial has improved due to competition from Ighalo. Although Martial usually have on and off form.

First of all, a happy Martial is a very dangerous Martial which is why I'm super happy about this his new-found bromance with Bruno Fernandes. He has improved in his gameplay, he has become quicker, he now makes split-second decisions (especially in the box), he is hungry for goals (though this can make him selfish sometimes). It's amazing what love can do

Knowing that him and Bruno are now counting the number of goals and assists between them makes it all sweeter, because they go into matches looking to increase that tally. Martial wants to score, Bruno wants to assist him. Perfect combination.

Also, the supply has obviously improved, thanks to tackle merchant (AWB), Shaw, Bruno and Fred. James just wants to be unfortunate Smh

And to be honest, the team is gelling off the pitch.. Look at Ighalo's media posts with Mata, Fernandes posts with Martial etc.. All these things play a role in his resurgence.

Gradually guys are no longer saying our full backs are not creative. Even the central midfield.

We are beginning to appreciate how important for players to be good first at their primary assignment before everything else can be added.

It is important for the back to be strong so that the front will drop less to help the back. It is important for the front to be productive so that the back knows when it gives the ball to the front, something is very likely to come out of it.

If I talk now you'll call Bruno a forward. With Bruno coming in, the quality of balls the strikers get is better and their goal return tells you a lot. Now, imagine if it was Pereira and Lingard playing as the link man between midfield and attack, won't we have folks here bashing Martial every other day?
