The problem is that a CB pushing into midfield as a DM is too specialised. We dont have anyone capable of doing that. But all around the world, we've seen Stones do similar for City but not many CBs are that comfortable these days to play that middle CB as a DM.

That season City won the UCL, Stones was massive for them. He is very key for Pep but it's a shame he is injury prone...I don't know if Casemiro can do a job there.

Well for one thing, you'll never have a midfield 2.

We need one of our CBs pushing up into the DM slot to ensure we have bodies in midfield but they don't do that enough.

In our game against Everton, I expected Mount to drop deep so that Cunha and Mbeumo will push higher up and be closer to the goal but it was Mount who was mostly in that space.

When defending, I hate it when our 3 CBs retreat instead of one of them to push forward into the DM position to try to sniff out danger before it reaches the box (This is assuming the 2 midfielders have been bypassed) but it never happens, the opposition seem to have a free run towards our 18 where you will find the CBs.

I am very keen to see how we approach the game against Arsenal.

I'm not sure about 4th. Liverpool,City, Arsenal and Chelsea are all significantly ahead of us. Maybe 5th at best case scenario.

Arsenal, Chelsea, City and Pool are all in Europe, we have the advantage...Remember when Conte won the league with Chelsea?

With the huge investments and absence of European Football distractions, anything short of a top 4 finish would be unsatisfactory....just like you opined.

We really need to start playing CL football again as soon as possible. Might manage a 5th position finish + an FA cup win if the PL gets an extra CL slot.

If we somehow find ourselves in the title race (as serious contenders) then yes, one can argue that it should be enough to wipe off last season's shameful slate!

Amorim is currently one of the worst managers to have graced the EPL and he needs to punch above his weight to get that horrible reputation off his back.

Amorim dreadful performance last season has made it such that a 7th position finish this season would still be acceptable to many.

The standards and expectations are currently at an all time low!!

With the significant investment we have made and the fact that we are not participating in any continental competition, Amorim has no excuse not to make top 4.

I am a CR7 fan boy but brining CR7 was one of the things that destabilized OLE’s team. Even Maguire mentioned it in his interview.

You could see that the team was trying to play a style that would fit CR7.

With Ole, we made progress up to a point and then stagnated before going on a downward spiral. Ole did a good job in stabilising the team but he just couldn't take us to the next level.

Last season, Amorim was literally dragging position with the likes of Nathan Jones, Paul Jewel, Frank de Boer etc as the worst manager in the history of the Premier league.

It was a dreadful performance and there is really no need trying to sugar-coat it!

This was just a general review of how things have panned out at the club in relation to the coaches we have had over the past couple of years. How you managed to narrow it down to Amorim who took over when we were visibly on a downward spiral is typical of you.

Let's see what Amorim has to offer between now and October. The team has been reasonably reinforced, so he has no excuse not to make top 4 especially when you consider the fact that we have no European football to distract the players.

Without actual competent central midfielders are going to struggle this season. I have been saying this since the US Tour. If we can't afford Baleba we should get someone more affordable.

With this squad as it is sha we have to make Europe no matter what and it is reasonable to expect Top 5.

True that...To really make that jump, we need a competent midfielder. I will say two and not one.

The second half was not it at all. I don't know if the players tired out as the game wore on or if it was deliberate just to conserve energy but we will get a clearer picture in the coming weeks when competitive football returns...One thing is certain, we can't play at such a tempo (2nd half) if we really want to be right up there...

I notice that both Cunha and Mbeumo are not really interested in taking up positions in and around the box, and that's where Sesko comes in...The more I watch Cunha and Mbeumo, the more the decision to get Sesko makes sense to me...

In the midfield, Bruno is a ticking time bomb and for some reason, Amorim won't take him off...At this point, I don't know if it's possible but I do hope we sign at least two midfielders.

We are playing more in the opposition zone because the quality up front has improved. We are lacking that presence in and around the box which is where Sesko should fit in...

Mount has had a decent game leading the press from the front...Talking about our press, I think the coaches are working on it, still not perfect but there's improvement there.
