nitrogen: This is the flexibility we asked for last season. They said he won’t be able to switch back.
We have backed managers with several new players in the past. At this time and given our finances, it’s impossible to do so, we can only do so much for now. The only reasonable thing is for Amorim to show workings and his mettle by hook or crook before we can go all out to change the squad for him.
That guy and his supporters are just too rigid and stubborn/incorrigible. ETH lost the flexibility? |

That guy and his supporters are just too rigid and stubborn/incorrigible. You think you are making sense, right? You sign a manager because you see him doing well at another club...He played a certain way, and that is what attracted you, but when he arrives, instead of giving him the resources he needs to deliver and begin to tell him stories...Are you not incompetent? If the board you so love to defend are not incompetent, why did they opt for Amorim, who favours a 3-5-2 formation instead of a coach who plays 4-3-3? If can't see that the board is to be blamed in all of these then, I can't help you nor can anyone here. |

Ellexy: The players aren’t as bad as people make them out to be. We’ve seen some of them leave and suddenly start balling elsewhere. So yes, while the squad has flaws, the real issue is underperformance and that falls squarely on the manager.
If one or two players are off-form, fine. But when an entire squad turns to passengers week in, week out, it ceases to be a player problem, it becomes a coaching one. That’s exactly why ETH was sacked and everyone here agrees. Which begs the question, how did you guys go from sweating inside the frying pan… to now pretending fire is comfortable?
People are now making excuses for the kind of things thought impossible under previous managers.... Was Eth sacked so we could actually go lower? If that was the plan, then it's working perfectly. Who are the players that left and started balling? McTominay? Lol...We all saw him at United, he is just there. Who else? Rashford? Antony? They were so good that Villa and Betis didn't buy them for less than half their market value? Nobody is making excuses for Amorim...We are asking the management of the club to back him up in the transfer market like other clubs are doing, so that he doesn't have any excuses if and when he fails... Imagine a Spurs fan arguing that since they won the Europa League, Thomas Frank should work with players at his disposal rather than sign Kudus and Gibbs White...Won't you think the fan is mad? |

We can only the standards on the pitch and judging by what we've seen so far, Amorim is setting a pretty bad standard for everyone involved. You only do so much. The current crop of players have always flattered to deceive, you can choose to tell yourself otherwise but look at Antony, Garnacho, Rashford, Hojlund, Mount, Maguire, Shaw, Dalot and others to numerous to mention, have they done enough to make you think it's Amorim that is the problem? |

spillo1: If fans here hated getting Delap for just 30million and Mbuemo who are well known and well watched, how do you think they will react to buying unknown players from those leagues. I can even see you added Africa lol. Please let's be realistic when dropping opinions. PSG have spent nearly 900million over the last 3 seasons. PSG first thought it was about buying star players and paying over the odds wages but not anymore, now they go after players who fit are technically gifted and are committed to their project. PSG has seen the light, they now spend wisely. We don't need players that cost over 80m to be competitive. Liverpool just signed Kerkez for 40m... We have offered more to sign Mbeumo than Joao Pedro cost Chelsea... Arsenal signed Zubimendi for less than we paid for Casemiro... How much did Frimpong cost Liverpool? Cherki? There's value in the market as long as you're not after established names. |

He could have walked knowing he can't perform magic Let's assume he walks away and a new coach comes in, will he use his money to sign players? Or the new coach resigns and the cycle continues. |

TrebleChamp: Nobody is saying the board should not sign players, you guys should stop repeating the false narrative. I said here days back that the board should be signing other necessary players while waiting to complete the Mbeumo deal, plus we know that clubs are trying to reap the Club by asking for crazy transfer fee (see Mbeumo situation). It is fans like Ley.qute that will still insult the board for paying crazy fee for players who end up flopping, like he did for Antony crazy fee. Amorim and the scouting team should look towards Portuguese League for very good tactical players, who are not too expensive and interested in joining without CL football. Not qualifying for CL may affect the choice of players we get, even small Delap (some said they did want) rejected us for Chelshit because of CL. No United fan is happy with the state of transfer activity (except maybe nitrogen 😁), but until i see a sign that the Manager is also concerned, i will take it that he is happy with his squad of players.. The coach can only identify players working with the scouting term, he is not in charge of negotiations. The board are the ones failing here. We should look elsewhere, Portugal, Spain, France, Germany, South America and even Africa. See PSG for example, how much did they use to assemble their super team? I bet we have spent more and that's because we keep looking at established names. Pacho was signed from Eintracht Frankfurt for a modest fee, Mendes from Sporting, Ruiz from Napoli, Vitinha from Porto, Marquinhos from Roma, Barcola from Lyon and so on...We should leave England and look elsewhere. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by patrickmuf(m): 7:51am On Jul 09, 2025 |
TrebleChamp: This stale yarn again. So fans should clap for him if result are terrible next season, because he is doing us a favour by working for free? Oya name one fan here that said the club should not sign players? Not qualifying for CL or Europa League next season would most likely affect our transfer targets, so the big players fans are expecting may not come (e.g Viktor Gyokeres who chose Assnal over his former Manager because of CL). The transfer window has been disappointing so far but if the Manager is not worried ( at least he hasn't shown any sign), why should fans be worried? We are up against very tough competition. Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, and Newcastle are strengthening their team not with squad players but top first-choice players. We all know we don't have UCL football to offer, but they are cheap alternatives elsewhere, outstanding players looking for opportunities to show their talents in a club like ours, and they don't cost much. One would expect a club like Manchester United to have a vast scouting network, which should come in handy now, but it's not the case. Must we sign players from the top leagues? We should be closing bargain deals like we did with Evra and Vidic. The manager coming out to protest will most likely see him lose his job, so I think it is left for the fans to register their displeasure with the lack of activity during the window. I expect that fans should not buy season tickets in protest. It is only when the finances of the owners are at stake that they swing into action. Fans are the key at this point. |

Dunno why i find this so funny Look at yourself...Chelsea has signed Delap, Essugo, J. Pedro and Gittens...They have Santos coming back from a hugely successful loan. Liverpool have signed Wirtz, Frimpong, and Kerkez, who will definitely enter the market for a Striker with the passing away of Jota. Arsenal have signed Zubimendi, and elsewhere, they're close to agreeing a deal with Sporting for Gyokeres while talks continue with Chelsea for Noni Madueke and a CB from Valencia. Not forgetting Norgaard from Brentford. Spurs are actively working on the deal to sign Kudus. Newcastle have signed Elanga... These are clubs that finished several points ahead of us. However, for some reason, fans of Manchester United who are concerned about the lack of transfer activity in the club are overreacting, according to you and your lot. |

Ellexy: A commercial documentary is the least of our worries right now, and I genuinely commend Amorim for pushing back on the idea. This isn’t just about money, the timing isn't good and the little brand pride we still have is at stake.
We are at our lowest point in decades, and you actually think it’s a good time to film the behind the scenes of this ongoing disaster? From the coaching staff clearly out of their depth, to the circus running things behind the scenes, all it’ll do is turn our decline into content. Haven't we been memed enough... Very well said... |

I don't have time to entertain everyone here, definitely not the kids here. We have seen Rashford decline so badly, the same goes for Dalot and Garnacho. While Dalot is even ready to put in effort, Rashford doesn't bother trying, and Garnacho thinks he is just too good, so he openly questions the manager.
Antony and Hojlund have struggled to live up to the hype, so it is only natural that we replace them. We are fans and want to see the football club at the top that is why we support those who are contributing towards the goal and ask that those who are not doing well be replaced. I don't think Casemiro and Maguire are still the first names on the list of players most fans want to leave the club because they proved their mettle last season. If the other players, for all their potential, fail to deliver here, then they can as well leave. It is a no-brainer... |

Jamiuokolaa: Your answer is in the bolded part of your post below
With the Dire situation of finances, we had the opportunity to make 100m quid to reinvest in the squad but the manager has decided otherwise.
Forfeiting 100m is a lot in this current realities so it's perfectly normal to share the same big hopes the manager has for Bruno in the current setup.
I am pretty excited about what our captain would bring forth next season - this is a 100m worth of talent we are talking about! Not Bruno rejecting the offer, right? If you were the manager, you'd have said you don't want Bruno in the team, so the club should force him to go where he doesn't want to go, right? Nice one... |

nitrogen: Fans are the number one culprit with the unnecessary pressure they put on players. Gone are the days of no social media when players don’t see anything else except what’s in the papers and on match days. These days, both players and fans are on social media. The level of toxicity thrown at our players is just insane, very few players will perform well after seeing the toxic comments.
Unfortunately, the media has realized this and is very happy to help débase our players just to feed and massage the egos of Utd fans. Funny thing is, there are several fans that are now in the media via vlogs and YouTubing. Those ones are interestingly followed religiously by a section for the fans.
Not saying owners and board have not contributed, but man, majority of our fans are just ridiculous. The pressure to win is there in every club. I dare say it's even worse in Madrid where they don't hesitate to boo the stars when they are on a poor run of form and to be honest, all top clubs have millions of fans who are rational and others who are irrational, so don't make it seem like a United thing. |

I am usually one of the last guys on this board to turn on a manager having a difficult time at United.
In most of the arguments I’ve had with you in the past, I’m often asking the board to recruit better before firing a coach when the team is underperforming.
This board should recruit better. Only then will I turn on the manager— if things remain the same. It's Mrviktor I wanted to quote. |

Leyqute: You don’t commit resources to a manager, you commit resources to your club.
Aguero, kDB, David Silva were already at City before Pep came along.
Chelsea bought Cole Palmer before they signed their current manager.
The Slot that won the league last season with Liverpool did so with a squad built by the previous manager.
It’s not just about getting a manager his players. That’s the mistake we’ve been making. It’s about getting really good players into the team.
Recruit genuinely good players and give them a good working environment and they’ll thrive irrespective of who the coach is.
What we have now is a mix of good and terrible players in a toxic work environment. You can never win with that combination. I hope when the season starts you will remember the incompetence of the board and not heap all the blame on the manager? |

The quantity of fuel lost to theft can be supplied to Dangote at a discounted price for local consumption only. So we can sell to Dangote at the international market price for his export and the one for local consumption, the government can subsidise it... The fuel lost to theft can be channelled to local consumption if the government is serious about stopping crude oil theft. After all, the stolen crude does not contribute to the nation's economy, so why not stop the theft and sell the crude, which is seldom lost to theft, at a low cost, in agreement that it sells to the local market at a very low cost. |
