Instead of spending that much on Baleba, we should kúkú get their Chief Scout and the Scout in-charge of spotting talents for CM position. Na so we hear say we no get shi-shi to spend but see us now, doing things that other clubs can only dream of. |

larride: I don't believe this.
If they can get him 3 attackers, if he truly needs a midfielder they will get him one. You don't believe what he said? He mentioned that we don't have a player in the midfield who can drive forward with the ball during the preseason. If he does not need one, why will he even highlight the problem? That's a subtle way of reinforcing a demand he must have made to the board in private. |

TrebleChamp: If Kone is not good enough for the first team, then Collyer or Moorhouse shouldn't be in the first team next season too. If the board fail to sign a midfielder due to limited cash, then i would rather have Kone over Collyer in midfield... I have not watched Kone, so I can't say but I am sure his time will come. My only fear now is that our midfield is so average that if Kone comes in and struggles, it might affect his confidence going forward. |

ChristineC: I don't think his passing is bad. being able to bulldoze through midfield and stop opponents bulldozing through is another quality that is sorely missing in the middle for United. I think he will add something to this team and fits the physical specimen bill Amorim seems to favour in recruitment. also he's the 6.5-7 consistent type of guy problem is, I do t know if he'd be priced fairly by Villa. I'd take him for around £45m.
there's another black guy in that Villa's midfield that has similar qualities to Onana although not as big. They'll ask for more. I think they spent between 45 to 50m to sign him. |

spillo1: Maybe you have forgotten the Europa league final, a game we controlled and still lost because we couldn't score. I am glad the club is not thinking like you. Our most urgent issue is a striker and goalgetters. Not a midfielder. Even with games we control we do not score goals. Look at the last 10 games we played last season . Specifically the games we controlled we lost including that final. We have gone a long way towards fixing our attack with the addition of Cunha and Mbeumo...Nobody is saying the club shouldn't sign a striker but the concern here is that it shouldn't come at the expense of a midfielder (DM) which is an area we haven't strengthened at all. |

I want the board to give Amorim all the tools he needs so that he won't have any excuse to fall back on if he fails. I have seen Amorim complaining about our midfield, especially during this preseason. I just hope the board goes all out and gets him a midfield or two and maybe a goalie after Sesko. We can't afford another poor season. |

spillo1: So you didn't see the need for a midfielder against Bournemouth and west ham when we we won comfortable but because of Everton game the club should disregard their initial plan going into the summer. Why are fans so reactionary. I didn't watch the other games. Honestly, we need a midfielder even more than a CF but whatever the club thinks is best, they should do... If Bruno is more disciplined, he can play behind Cunha and Mbeumo and we use the money for Sesko for Baleba or any top DM. I wouldn't even mind if we signed a CM to add to the mix because Casemiro, Collyer and Ugarte are not enough in terms of quality. I will let Mainoo deputise for Bruno. |

It will amount to telling yourself a lie if you look at our midfield and think we are good to go for the season. Imagine him mentioning Leon and Heaven among the players we have acquired just to push a silly narrative...Leon and Heaven are for the future, Amorim has gone about addressing some of the problem areas with the signings so far but we all agree we need a goalie, DM and a CF to really stand a chance...Some might even argue that we can make do with a DM and CM and make do with what we have in attack. Let us see if the club can fill these positions with quality players before we start panicking. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by patrickmuf(m): 11:55am On Aug 04, 2025 |
I understand that our midfield obviously needs improvement but like Amorim noted, if the defenders were not caught walking instead of sprinting towards the edge of the box, that first goal doesn't happen.
We need the whole team to be in sync. When attacking, the midfield should be able to push higher up the pitch, joined by the defence, else our press will easily be bypassed by the opponent. I saw several instances yesterday when the attackers were pressing, but only the wingers pushed higher up the other side pitch to join the press while the midfielders and defenders didn't bother to burst a sweat. |

During one play, Heaven delayed his pass, drawing three Everton players towards him before delivering an excellent ball to Casemiro. Unfortunately, Baba lost possession because he no longer has the speed or awareness he once did.
Dorgu should take the time to watch videos of Jordi Alba. He should have simply squared the ball to Hojlund for an easy tap-in. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by patrickmuf(m): 11:58pm On Aug 03, 2025 |
I just can't stand Bruno and his misplaced passes. He almost always opts for the difficult pass when a simple pass would do...
Casemiro is finished at this level, why is he still at the club?
Defensively we are all over the place when attacked. No reason for Amad to have played that ball against Heaven in that position, if he was a bit calm then the own goal doesn't happen...This is not excusing Bruno for losing possession leading to the goal... |

Mancity clearly had significantly lofty ambitions when the Sheikhs took over circa 2008

Jamiuokolaa: That's what I am saying nau - our coaches are having to explain Projects to Brendford players so that they wouldnt pick 17th placed clubs like spurs over us.
The Yoro issue has been addressed severally on these pages and i did it again a few mins ago. You think the likes of Spurs and Newcastle are not ambitious themselves? How did City start again? Newcastle have the funds to burn, it's just FFP that's keeping them in check else they'd have signed some of the best players in Europe and start competing for the league and other important trophies. It is not unheard of for a player to speak to the manager of the club interested in his signature so I don't know why you are making a big deal out of it. Time after time, we have seen clubs fail to sign certain players, and they move on afterwards. Why should our own case be any different? |

Jamiuokolaa: In addition to agreeing to pay Broke Brendford a fee that could well be in excess of 70m pounds, Mbuemo needed extra convincing before he joined us ahead of Newcastle and Spurs
My position was quite clear - if a player is deliberating between Joining Man utd and Newcastle, it's a clear reminder that the mighty has fallen!
If we are at a point where extra persuasion is needed before a player chooses us ahead of Newcastle, Spurs and the likes, its a further testament to the depths to which the club has sunk.
Sesko potentially becoming the 3rd player to allegedly reject us in one Transfer window, is another issue entirely. Hopefully, it wouldn't get to that stage.
It is what it is!! Most players will opt to speak with the manager to understand the manager's plan and the direction the club is headed. There's nothing to it... In the end, he said the project here is more exciting, why are not running with that line? Newcastle has UCL football to offer, but even then, Sesko has not decided, and when he does, it will be in his best interest...If he chooses to come here, then fine but if he opts for Newcastle, it's his choice. Yoro opted to join us over Madrid just last season but it doesn't mean we are bigger than Madrid or that they're struggling to attract players. |

This is exactly the point - we are now at an all-time low such that players are thinking it through before picking us over Newcastle, Spurs and the likes. Are Arsenal also at an all-time low? I am sure he opts to join us you'll link it to money... Mbeumo chose to come here rather than Newcastle or Spurs a few weeks ago, so I don't know what you're on about... |
