He (and his team) is just a little better than Everton under Moyes.
How consistent was Moyes's Everton compared to Pochettino's Spurs?
Abeg no dey yarn anyhow.

yea..its a valid point,I don't think anyone here really thinks poch is a bad coach,he's really good, but I think to be a champion has to take more..you opined in ur last post that you thought y poch didn't bring in wanyama for alli was that he might not want to deal with alli's sulking..but that's exactly the problem he would have when in a bigger club or with a bigger budget cos we all know that big players have big egos so if hes scared of making alli happy, then what happens when he handles pogba and his likes..

honestly I just feel poch should just remain at spurs to continue what he's started, with time d experience would come
True, he needs to remain at Spurs.
His situation is similar to Simeone who is doing so well making good players play their hearts out but in a bigger club, he might have players question his methods...It's all probability for now.

Having said that, Pochettino is still a very good coach, sometimes we don't even realize he is operating on a tight budget compared to his contemporaries.

Pochettino made a mistake not reacting to Allegri's sub by bringing on Wanyama for Alli, I think he didn't want to be treated to another round of sulking by Alli.
Even at that, Juventus were very lucky to advance past Spurs, with a few additions and experiences like these, Spurs will only get better.
On the other hand, they'll go in hard to finish top 4 and at some point, we or Liverpool might have to give up on the chase for one trophy for another.

Ashley Young had Sanchez who was drifted infield almost every time, he had even more space to run into...
Shaw had Rashford so, his forays were restricted yet he was almost always in the Palace half swooping danger and making sure we had one more body to play through on the left.

All these dont hold ground because you are talking about the player who created the most chances in the game. All his chances came from passing.
Alas, stats has killed objective football analysis...

Valencia had the highest number of chances created in the match for both teams. He created 4 chances. The next people are those who created 2 chances - Mata and Soloth.

Against Chelsea we were poor first half and parked the bus. In the second half, we played more in Chelsea's half and won. Did we substitute Valencia and Young? It is just the pattern of our play.

Valencia and Young also need rest at intervals because they work the hardest in the team covering so much ground with speed.
Against Chelsea we lacked the width that comes with natural fullbacks.
Every top teams has a full back who bombs forward to deliver crosses, create channels to evade congested Midfield or press.
At Bayern, you have Alaba and Kimmich
At Juventus, Alex Sandro
At Barcelona, Alba and Roberto
At City, Zichenko and Walker
At Pool, Robertson and Clyne before his injury woes
At Chelsea, Alonso
At Spurs, Ben Davies and Aurier.

They all press high up the pitch, serve as channels to open up the play and contribute in delivering crosses.
The mistake you are making especially as it concern Valencia is looking at crosses/chances created and ignoring all the other parameters.

When scores are at 0-0, Mourinho's team seat deep. Even when Shaw has started games. Valencia has always been the most adventurous.

Trailing 0-1, there was always the fear not to concede a second. As soon as Rashford came on, we were attacking better, but the second goal we conceded meant we went all out because there was nothing to lose again.

Valencia have an Assists, he also played more balls into the box from the final third.
We are not complaining just because we want more crosses into the box, the role of a fullback when you play with two inverted wingers goes way beyond putting crosses into the box, they help in retaining possession by creating a channel for the midfielders out wide, they also complement the pressing done by the forwards.
During the game, each time the midfielders looked out wide especially when the center was crowded out, Valencia was close to the center of the pitch as was Young except in one or two scenarios where he wasn't utilized prolly because the lads got fed up that he kept on losing possession. The commentators were also very vocal in their assertion that we needed more width to breakdown Palace and it's no surprise that it changed with Rashford, Shaw and a Lingard who was surprisingly more in sync with our midfielders than Valencia.
Val tho should continue on the right against Liverpool but Shaw has to be trusted by Mou against Salah who is definitely gonna leave Young for dead with his pace.

They didn't play same role and not same formation. Rashford for McTominay meant we played more men forward and we attacked better from when Martial came on. Lingard didn't play the traditional right back. He played more like a wing back.

Towards the end, at 1-2 we had nothing more to lose, hence we threw men forward.
Elampiro, shouldn't our full backs be more adventurous when we are playing a 3 man midfield especially with 2 of the 3 being more defensively conscious I.e. Matic and McTonimay?
Let's take Madrid for an instance, at Madrid, with Casmeiro and Kross, Marcelo and Carvajal are licensed to join the attack at every chance because of the midfield cover, why is it different here, quite simply put, the personnel or probably the methods.
With Rashford and Mata on, if your theory held sway, our full backs should have been more cautious since we had Rashford on the left, Sanchez through the middle, Mata on the right and Pogba joining the attack often but no, we saw our fullbacks higher up the pitch even when they were expected to be a tad cautious and that resulted in us recovering the ball quicker in more dangerous positions.
The obvious difference is the change in personnel manning the fullback positions in question and not the fact we were couple of goal down cos with Young and Val we were a goal down and at later two goals down but not much changed (don't mention Valencia's assist cos we went up the pitch for a corner and not necessarily because he forayed forward).

Those passes were over hit. The ball slip fast on the grass because it was rainy. If you think Lingard is better than Valencia in that position, you must be a joke.
The truth is Valencia didn't give them a chance with his positioning and I didn't in anyway mean that Lingard is better at RB, he just interpreted the role better with his positioning for the pass each time the midfielders had the ball.

It is criminal for a full back to be pegged on the same line with the CBs, at least not when you're chasing a game.

Valencia nko. why are we giving him to much respect. he is currently shitier than young.
Check my other post, I had a go at him, he sort of did himself a little good with that assist for the first goal.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by patrickmuf(m): 12:10am On Mar 06, 2018
It isn't rocket science that we looked much more comfortable with Shaw on the left and Lingard at RB.
To be honest a lot of those passes from Pogba and Sanchez into the channel on the right that seemed like misplaced passes where only so due to the fact that Valencia wasn't adventurous enough, it was almost the same scenario on the left where Young who Elampiro thinks was our only attacking outlet in the first half, was atrocious today.
At some point, the players began ignoring Young even when he was in good position because he had killed enough attacks.
Against teams like Palace, we should be more daring and even though we triumphed today, we may not always be this lucky.
We need to set out to kill rather than contain.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by patrickmuf(m): 11:14pm On Mar 05, 2018

If we ever start a game with the same enthusiasm and drive like we showed after going 2 goals down today, we will be untouchable...
This team has it all.
Tomorrow, we will have folks here talking the chances of others when in all honesty, De Gea has been heads and shoulders above all our players, only Lukaku shows enough passion for this team.

Look at that foolish man called Valencia instead of finding himself higher up the pitch, he is cautiously positioned to run back.
We need to press high up the pitch and use the wings more.

You begin to question what exactly is Mourinho's problem with Shaw, whenever he had started, he did well at least according to majority of the onlookers.
It's obvious Mourinho prefers Young because he is very conservative in his forays forward cos apart from his laid back attitude towards attack, he does nothing better than Shaw in that LB position...
It must be very frustrating for Shaw to have an aging Young start over him week in, week out.

Na Rooney start that rubbish years ago. When Martial came he was agile and then started copying Rooney. Then players stopped pressing for the ball upfront.

They're yet to shake ofd that irritating attitude
Mourinho conservative approach isn't helping too.
I'd like to see our supposed lazy players under the tutelage of Pep or Klopp, I'm very sure they'd put in a shift rather than what we are used to now.

the reason is simple, laziness. This collection of players are the laziest i have seen together or perhaps they are playing to instructions which i very much doubt. Only Jesse Lingard show any kind of bite when the team is not in possession in the opposing half.

It's a big shame. It's the reason i like a fit Ander Herrera in the team, his instincts make him press for the ball even far ahead of his area on the field.
Sanchez also likes to press but sooner rather than later, he'd get used to our lethargic style of play.

For me, a City win is to our advantage.

Mata too can play RW.
We no need someone that we'll put on the RW and be drifting inside. Dybala is a 10. Not a RW. We dont need another Mkhitaryan situation.
What we need is someone to give us width on the right.

Except there's space for another AM in the team, Dybala can sit his azz down in Juve.
Sanchez might just be the right Winger we are looking for, against Chelsea, he played more centrally.
Tomorrow, I hope to see him on the right.

Another nagging problem is the fact that we play a tepid and lackadaisical type of football.

If we buy all that is needed will they be motivated to push forward and continue to push even when go a goal up.

I am sick and tired of this our cautious approach to games whether top teams or not we want to be cautious.

Right now, apart from the RW, I believe we have enough to go at teams and have a winning mentality and approach to games.

I dey take one eye dey look Mourinho. Now instead of going into the pitch to practically kill crystal palace on Monday, we will see one type of mechanical cautious unambitious approach to the game and if we manage to win will start thanking God for the 3points but complain to thy kingdom come.

I just tire.
Why we don't press when we are without the ball is beyond me, yesterday, even when Liverpool were a goal up, they kept on pressing like they were chasing an equalizer.

As usual una don dey get carried away by all these big names again. As long as it ll be nice to ve these guys at United, We need to address the more pressing areas of the team which we keep ignoring like a "natural RW", CM, LB and maybe CB. We also need to get rid of so many waste men in the team.

Even if we get Dybala and we go Martial - Sanchez - Dybala behind Lukaku, that means we'll be playing a 2-man midfield. So what happens to Pogba that can only play in a 3-man midfield?? Dybala go be nice addition but he's not a priority.
If we like make we buy all the attackers and forwards wey dey this world, if we dont fix the central midfield, defence and RW we ll continue to struggle.
I'll think that after our shortcomings in the transfer window for the last 5 years, we for don learn by now, but that doesn't seem to be the case. We need to start buying smart. Not buying because a player is available and we ve the money.
Dybala can comfortably play the right wing or AM, he has pace, eye for the pass and goal.
We need to attack more to cover the deficiency of Pogba as part of a two man midfield otherwise we go in for Kross and play 4-3-3
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by patrickmuf(m): 8:31pm On Mar 03, 2018
If we get Dybala he will definitely start, we have to figure out how to go about business with a midfield 2.
Martial - Sanchez - Dybala behind Lukaku will rival just about any attack anywhere but it all depends on Mourinho. He needs to be more adventurous next season cos we've got the talent to have a go at teams rather than the cautious approach we're renowned for.

Thats why I told A40 that if Reus stays fit till season end then its not sure for Sane to start

In his game Reus is not back to 100% and atimes I feel he is avoiding duels which understandable
Sane can comfortably play from the right, Lowe just has to find a system that has Reus, Ozil, Muller and Sane in the team.
4-2-3-1. A midfield of Khedira (if he is called up) and Kross with Reus, Ozil and Sane behind Muller.

They are quick fixes for our current problems....those 2 guys are capable of giving us 3 solid seasons each at their current ages....experience, big club credentials and quality is what they offer at this point in time
Busquet is too similar to Matic and is not possible. we need a player in the mold of Kross who is comfortable dictating play from midfield with occasional forays forward.
